"A child born with pointed ears. S/he can hear the voices of supernatural creatures. Terrified parents/guardians chop the ends off her/his ears to hide the abnormality. But despite this disfigurement, the child can still hear otherworldly voices, mangled, but there..."
Character I made up for fun, but couldn't really place. Free to a good home!
Maisy-Li Fitzpatrick
Physical Appearance: Maisy-Li is half Irish half Chinese. Her eyes are ice blue and slanted; she has creamy white skin and freckles. She has wildly curly strawberry blonde hair that falls halfway down her back. She is short and thin with a heart shaped face with mainly Asian features and a nose that doesn’t quite fit. She is very pretty in her own way.
Personality: Maisy’s immigrant parents joined the Peace Corps before she was born. Until she was twelve Maisy spent most of her time in foreign countries with adults that didn’t even speak her language. As a result she is one of the most out going people on the face of the earth. She is never intimidated and can appear disrespectful in her friendliness towards authority.
She is amazingly cheerful and can find something to like in nearly any one. She has a passion for open air but doesn’t like wild life. She loves mountains and deserts and is an amazing rock climber. She is also very good with foreign languages. Maisy loves art. She is a neat freak and only owns things that are black, white, green, grey, or blue. She can never be seen without a lollypop in her mouth, but otherwise eats remarkably healthfully. She’s a vegetarian.
In my original plan she was a misfit new CIA agent. Her abilities with languages, fitting in in foreign countries, and her ability to scale skyscrapers from the outside made her an ideal candidate as a spy but she never fit in with the other hard-boiled agents.
Adopting this lovely lady. With a small name change she will be a perfect addition to the cast of my romance. The FMC needs someone happy to lighten things up. Thanks!
Lily Tuck 13 Black hair yellow eyes Punk rocker chick with anger issues and serious fighting issues. Also major sour (lemon. Shockers. Toxic Waste ect.) and soda addictiction.
Don't need so abandon. Feel free todo what you want.

I am definetly adopting Lily Tuck :). She sounds like such an awesome character

So I love this character Carl that I have created but I don't have a large enough part for him in what I am planning on writing!
Carl would do very well in a story that is based in a city, as he was born and raised in one of the poorest sections of Boston, Jamaica Plain. Although he is small and frial looking, he is rather strong. He has a great attitude, loves to listen to music, and books on tape since he isn't great at reading. His hair is is starting to grey around the sides.
I love Carl very much and because of the great love that I have for Carl I can't find it in my heart to make him a very small part! I am putting him up for adoption to a good story that will care for him and allow him to grow and expand!
She's a great fit for fantasy and I don't have any clue how to use her anytime soon. She is a wander from young. Every time I "see" her, she's more or less on her own. She's a very unique woman, passive by nature, but has a self defense quality that makes her difficult to contain. When needed, she can turn her body into purple water droplets and moves through the air as such, until she draws herself back together. It's gotten her out of a lot of difficult situations. As a child it was a reflex that went uncontrolled as an adult, she uses it as she sees the need and that is rare. For good reason, most don't know she's able to do that with her body/mind.
She has a gentle way of getting under your skin and she makes the people around her softer somehow. It's hard to explain but she's wonderful. She's mild-tempered, gentle to nature and loves positive actions. She will share everything she has, if one needs it. She'll always know that there are more important things than the physical. A spiritualist of sorts, but not really guided beyond the natural motions of the planet around her.
Anyway, obviously she's gotten under my skin. I love her personality and I can find places for it to fit, but not for her to fit. If that makes sense.
She sounds like a perfect adult figure for my fantasy story. I can picture my younger characters approaching her for help. Adopting, thank you! I really like this character xD
This character is a liberal-hippie version of Rambo who actually walks next to my apartment to get to the Art Department of the local Community College. He has perfect hair that he keeps in a sweat band is auh-mazingly silky looking, and reaches half way down his back. Hippie Rambo is the strong silent type, and the one time that I asked him about his conditioner, he stopped; turned, and replied in a deep voice: "I don't use conditioner." Then he walked away, hair breezing behind him, being all strong and handsome and silent.
1) A man deserving more than he receives at his death. He lives nobly and dies even more nobly, only to be robbed of his possessions and hastily rolled into a shallow, unmarked grave by the companions he has saved. He is later dug up some starving carrion eater, savaged, and eaten.
2) A pair of historical lovers, whose story has been told and retold, mythologized, bowdlerized, watered down for safe consumption, rediscovered, and celebrated in all its vibrant originality.
3) A child born with pointed ears. S/he can hear the voices of supernatural creatures. Terrified parents/guardians chop the ends off her/his ears to hide the abnormality. But despite this disfigurement, the child can still hear otherworldly voices, mangled, but there...
4 A Wise Old Mentor who is actually a con man. In between his confidence games (which include convincing some kid that s/he's a Chosen One, luring her/him off on a false quest, and demanding ransom money from the family), he writes a book entitled "How to Be A Wise Old Mentor." It's a series of letters to future Old Wise Mentors, in which he deconstructs the tasks of dealing with Chosen Ones, Five Man Bands, prophecies, runaway princesses, and other trappings of sword-and-sandals fantasy.
This thing won't let me quote for some reason, so i'll just copy and paste the one I'm borrowing.

I don't know if I'll use it this year or not, but it just sounds so cool. Um, is it ok if I hide their ears instead of having them chopped off?

This actually will fit right in with my horror novel this year. Taken.
Leaving - A pixie-like waif of a woman, Dawn Hanselle barely stands above 5 feet and a hundred pounds soaking wet. She has green eyes and a shock of short nearly white-blonde hair, and is 20 years old, attending college to get her degree in psychology and then go on to become a therapist. However, she also enjoys a good time on the beach and taking photos or videos of people and is the life of a party. Never a sloppy drunk or too loud, she simply brings fun to everyone who spends time with her.
Taking the ninja. Giving him a name- November. For an unrelated cast of characters.
Leaving: I'm rather disappointed I don't get to use this one. Name- Genevieve, Genie. Doesn't really have an age, but looks about sixteen. Think, a cross between the Bloody Crumpets and Pinocchio. She is a marionette, and she can think, talk, etc, but all of her movements are controlled by her puppeteer. The puppeteer is an amateur/apprentice, and often causes Genie to get tangled up in her strings or go flying in one direction or another.

The old wiseman/conman one is fantastic! I don't know if I'm going to use it yet, but I'm saving it just in case :)
I'll leave one (I may use her too but she's shareable): A 20-30 something year old albino girl, who dresses like a porcelain doll and acts like a child.
Number one could be a great idea for a Japanese horror style novel. The idea of the man having lived his life honorably. Maybe he was protecting his lord (or if in modern times anyone he feels loyal to). The lord dies, but because he had been the lords favorite his companions he was left in the shallow grave. (This could be a set-up over money, corporate espionage or anything of that nature) The idea of the body being drug up and eaten, before the 80 days it's suppose to take to get to the afterlife, would create a situation where his spirit would remain. Then during the season of O-bon (like halloween) he has 3 days to get revenge.
4. is utterly amazing - thank you!!! This and watching The Three Musketeers earlier have helped spawn my plot idea :) (I will post my ideas to the main article rather than this one to make it more organised).
"A man deserving more than he receives at his death. He lives nobly and dies even more nobly, only to be robbed of his possessions and hastily rolled into a shallow, unmarked grave by the companions he has saved. He is later dug up some starving carrion eater, savaged, and eaten."
Can I adopt this person, please? He fits what I need for a motive for the antagonist.
2) A pair of historical lovers, whose story has been told and retold, mythologized, bowdlerized, watered down for safe consumption, rediscovered, and celebrated in all its vibrant originality. I'm New to NaNo....I love this, great start for a plot idea too :)
I think I will use the Wise Old mentor. I have an Order of monks. He becomes the head of the Order by an elaborate con. He then uses his power to try and oust some local witches.
Mara Stone Age 16-20 She's a pretty girl- long dark hark, gray eyes, pointed face, warm smile. She relates better to books than real life, because she learned that books will never let her down, but people can. Her best friend betrayed her once, and ever since then she always spent more time with books than real people. She's not totally friendless, she has a book club that she meets with and she's very close to them. She's shy, but incredibly outgoing once you meet her, bubbly personality and all that. She would be perfect as a college student wanting to be a librarian or an actual librarian.
Please let me know what you do with her through NaNoMail or something
I'd like to borrow this character for an idea I just recently had. She'd be one of the MCs. The story is a romance, following a young woman called Nina who deals with misanthropy and encounters her love interest, an asexual but biromantic woman. Are you okay with that?
actually a character of the story i´d like to write is quite similar to your Mara (even the name, mine is called Cara ^^) hope you don´t mind. she´ll be the MC of a fantasy-novel :)
I may have a place for her, but we'll see. (My plot is lacking an MC, and for all that I don't know anything about my MC, I do know a lot about what he/she can't be like.)
This fits very well to this one character I've tryed to figure out for a while. Physically I imagined her just the way you described, so this must be destiny, or something like that ^_^
Though she's dead the whole story BUT she's the key to saving the MC, so basicly she's the most important thing in the whole story :)) If I could use her, please :P
I would like to use this character. She is wonderful. I am writing a fantasy novel about a coven of witches. It has been hard to come up with 12 women. She sounds like she would be a great fit. She would be the one who read all about magic and thinks she knows what to do. But, when it comes to actually using it...that is another matter. Thanks so much for the idea!

Would like to use as my FMC for my reincarnation story...
Some nameless assassins who didn't make it far in my novel (by which I mean they died pretty quick) -- perhaps someone can get better mileage out of them. I write fantasy, but these can be adapted for any genre. Perfect for villainous minions, random obstacles, or even your main antagonist. (While I refer to them as "he," you can make them female, if you wish.)
Assassin #1: A gambling addict. He became a killer for hire to pay his debts, or to get out of paying his debts. His gambling mindset extends to his work. He'll take long shots if the reward is great enough. He doesn't work well with a group, because he sees others as rivals.
Assassin #2: He's a big guy who likes big weapons, but he still might fly into a rage and try to strangle someone with his bare hands.
Assassin #3: He has an enemy-of-choice. (In my story, wandering sorcerers, but feel free to use any group.) At the sight of one, he might abandon his primary target. He's a close-minded, violent bigot. Have fun with him.
Assassin #4: He's not as strong or clever or quick as others, but he is tenacious. He just won't stop coming, no matter what. In this, he's as dangerous as any of the others.
Assassin #5: He likes to strike in the darkness, in some isolated region, where he knows no one will observe him. His favorite place in out in the middle of a forest. He knows how to use this terrain to his advantage.
I have a lot of characters to populate my world with... and I've got all the good guys pretty much. So thanks for the bad guys! Some of them will be perfect they way they are, though #1 will have to be some kind of addict but not gambling since there's no such thing in my world. *rubs hands together mischievously*
Claiming the Assasins will be perfect for my bad guy/girl who will be all but I didn't actually kill them so you can't blame me! :D (Bad guy/girl doesn't have a name yet )
Ooh, I need assassin characters! I'll keep them all in mind, but 4 and 5 look especially promising. 1 might be useful, as well, with a bit of tweaking...
I may very well be taking these five charming gentlemen, if you don't mind. With a little adjustment and variation, they would do quite well for me (though the details are still coming together). Quite the five man army there.
Assassin # 5 sounds alike my character that killed a few of my main characters. All he needs is a name and I am good. Will go to the adopt a name after I find a character to replace a old character.
This is great. My NaNo this year is about White Collar criminals, and #1's gambling addiction is a perfect backstory for my MC's father. Filing away. Thanks!
I love these guys but they just aren't people I can write very well...
Laura May Allison Late 30s-Early 40s Auburn poof hair, frown lines, rough hands, striking green eyes are the first things that come to mind. Usually found in waitress outfit during the day and loose, flowing, clothes with gaudy rings when not working. She has few wrinkles if you ignore her frown lines, and a beauty mark. She could be pretty if you gave her some new hairstyle and clothes. She's snarky and weary of young people or most customers in general. She's smart, rather talents, also rather depressed. Original Laura was supposed to be a something, a someone. She was gifted, that one girl people knew was going places later in life. She knew from a young age she wanted to be a star, that she was going to be a star somehow. She had lessons and audition but somehow, something Laura resents, things fell through. She's now stuck in a dead-end job in a small town, barely getting by, and always getting crap from others, talent wasted. At some point she stopped caring about her future. letting her appearance and and hopes go to better embrace the reality that was, and still is, a day to day struggle.
Betty 50s Platinum blonde hair, plastic surgery, fur trimmed coat, to much makeup, nice smile, bright eyes, slightly chubby, short. Betty is still a naive little rich girl at heart, and she wants to stay that way forever both physically and mentally. At any given time her personality will change to suit her needs and wants, causing trouble and annoyance for any who have to deal with her. She hates facing reality head-on and will squirm her way out of responsibility at any cost. The only reason people put up with her are because she's rich and her immaturity can be hilarious at times.
I have some more, but I think I'll drop them off later. Feel free to change them up slightly and do tell me if you decide to use them.
I really want to work Laura into my novel as the mother as my MC. Is it okay if I change her name, because I have a name in mind that I want to use. Thanks a lot!
I might use Laura, only she works at a coffeehouse. I'm writing a rather peculiar story which requires a new cast of characters about every 10,000 word. I never realized it would be hard to come up with so many. Thanks.
Tip: Check your email's spam folder for names and write quick character/plot sketches for them. Here are three character descriptions from the enhanced-prowess-promisers that enlivened my spam folder recently (they come with mini-plots attached, but feel free to strip those away) -
Herman Dodd Herman’s mission in life is to open an antiques shop in the small market town where he lives. However, his local council’s astronomically-high rates mean that he simply cannot afford the upkeep of a store in the High Street, so he sets it up in his garden shed instead. At first, his only customers are sympathetic friends and neighbours, but soon word-of-mouth brings new people from far and wide and the aforementioned sympathetic neighbours begin to tire of the constant comings and goings. Within months, Herman could afford that High Street store, but his customers tell him that part of the Antique Shed’s charm is just that: the fact that it’s in a humble garden shed. And then, one sunny summer morning, with the fifth old typewriter of the day being rung up on the till, the post arrives, bringing with it a summons from the council. One of Herman’s neighbours has snitched on him, and the Battle of the Antiques Shed begins.
Rory Ebony Rory is a ten-year-old psychic vampire who steals a little bit of lifeforce from everyone he meets. He can’t help it; he was born that way. His mum has taken him to all kinds of doctors (both medical and slightly less-so) in an attempt to cure him, but none of them have been of any assistance. Mrs Ebony is in a state of constant exhaustion, because being around Rory all the time she is the one he steals from most often, and she has begun to despair of Rory ever living a normal life. Until, that is, a strange old woman moves in next door. She brings with her only a comfortable armchair, a desk, and a lamp, and she tells Mrs Ebony that she has been looking for Rory for a long, long time.
Felecia Darcey There was a time when Felecia was the It Girl of all It Girls. Daddy’s money got her into the finest clubs, cars, and all the glossy gossip magazines. But when Daddy’s money was discovered to have originated from highly-illegal sources, Felecia is forced to undergo a drastic change in her life. From pampered puss to scrappy mouser, she ends up in a cruddy apartment for which she can barely cover the rent by taking on several jobs. The Fall of Felecia is gleefully reported by the glossies that had once been her friend, but can she recover her self-respect and find happiness in her new life?
Leaving: Susanne Dempsey--mother of four; married three times, each time climbing higher up the income scale. During her third loveless marriage, she meets a younger man who is penniless but who proves to her what she had long ago figured out--that money doesn't buy happiness.
I, too, plan to use Rory. I'd already planned on doing a vampire next door thing for my folks to investigate. Rory's pretty perfect. They can even put him and the old lady in touch with one another. ^^
Another trick is to get a Baby Names book from the library, perferably copyrighted in the years you're writing from.. this is especially important if you're writing something historical. Pen.

ooh I like Felecia a lot actually! Won't work for the novel I'm working on though..MIGHT use her for something else....*puts her back on the shelf for now*
Dropping off a lot. Some of these are very old and not fully fleshed-out, but I hope that doesn't deter anyone from taking them in and making them their own.
Minette "Minnie" Dempsey (16) - Adores folk music - Paints her nails wild, mismatched colors - The youngest of twin girls (see below)
Margot "Mari" Dempsey (16) - A bit of a rebel; has her 19-year-old boyfriend buy cigarettes for her - Enjoys knitting, especially scarves and mufflers - The oldest of twin girls
NOTE: The truth about Minnie and Mari is that they're not twins, but clones.
Cedric Vance (17) - Natural redhead - Has nine tattoos, three of which he did himself - Is deathly afraid of snakes
Clea Branson (late teens) - Lives with her sister (see below) - Has a prosthetic arm and leg following a hit-and-run accident - Owns an orange Tabby cat with overly large paws names Muffin Fist
Fawn Branson (20s) - Works for a publisher - Is an avid practitioner of feng shui
Choi Wong (18) - A music major (pianist) at a performing arts school - Smoker - Still carries a grudge from when his mother abandoned his family years ago - Modest, meticulous, reliable, practical, analytical; fussy, overly critical, perfectionist
Penelope "Penny" Harris (16) - Dance major at a performing arts school - Struggles under her parents' smothering, sheltering affection - Is terrified of dogs - Sensitive, compassionate, unworldly, intuitive; escapist, weak-willed, naive
Ivy Harris (18) - Penny's older sister - Loves the gothic aesthetic - Fashion design major at a performing arts school - Her father disapproves of the way she dresses and they often clash - Prudent, ambitious, patient, humorous; fatalistic, miserly, grudging
Matthias McLeod (17) - Chorus major at a performing arts school - Bisexual - Dreams of being a vocalist for a rock band - Determined, passionate, magnetic; jealous, compulsive, secretive, obstinate
Felix Rosales (18) - Music major (drummer) at a performing arts school - Compulsively drums on tabletops and stacks of books - Serial dater - Warmhearted, enthusiastic, broad-minded; patronizing, bossy, intolerant
Chloe Sharpe (17) - Photography major at a performing arts school - African-American - Often models her best friend Ivy's doll-like fashion creations - Can't carry a tune to save her life - Energetic, pioneering, confident, dynamic; quick-tempered, impatient, foolhardy
I'll adopt Clea and Fawn Branson. They'd fit in well with my story this year, since my main female character has prosthetic legs due to her automobile accident. Maybe Clea can meet her in rehabilitation or something?
Oh, Choi Wong is PERFECT for a character I've been struggling to place! I may tweak his first name a bit and age him up a year, but altogether... just yes. PERFECT!
I love Choi and Minette and I needed personality like theres! I am probably going to have Minette's twin die during childbirth or soon after it though.
i really love all your ideas! they fit perfectly with my stle of writing! I'm thinking Penelope Harris mixed with Clea Bronsan could potentially make a really interesting character! What do you think?
I think I'll adopt Penny and Ivy, although Ivy won't be that big of a part. I think Penny will fit in pretty well with my run away adventure, if it means that she'll get away from her parents.
And I may steal Matthias, but I'll bump him down a year and maybe change his name to something that I'll remember much easier.
Adopting Minnie and Mari with a few changes, if that's ok. Slightly older, with a different last name, and they'll fit perfectly into my story this year.
I'll adopt Minne, Choi, and Felix. I'm trying to populate a boarding school, so I may slightly tweak their "majors" to areas of interest. Thank you for creating them!
Muffin Fist? That's wonderful, I love him! Can I have him? One of my MCs may just be getting a kitty....I don't really care for most of the others though...heheheh, you know someone's a cat lover when they ignore a long list of human characters and immediately pick out the one cat.

I know this is a bit out of season, but I'm going to take Cedric and Matthias in advance... Unless you have a problem with that at this point. I'm not entirely sure if adopting in... late January is allowed.
A pair of twin brothers who very acutely feel each others emotions and pain, to the point of physically experiencing any injury inflicted upon the other brother. Personality wise, they're similar to the point of basically being the same person in two bodies.
My son and his brother are like this, though not born as twins of the same mother, they were born within three minutes of each other on two different continents. It is eerie how they sense and know one another's pain, joy, etc.
1.) The last surviving member of a Hive Mind, #1 is traumatized by the death of it's 'others' after some freak accident. They seem to be withdrawn and terrified of this strange separation, but maybe with help that can be changed!
2.) An adventurer from the far side of the [Realm/Planet/Star System/Galaxy], #2 is a mischievous trickster who has a knack for getting caught. Most personal relationships are humor-based and held at arms length, though when his companions mention a seemingly unrelated [place/event/group of people] any jokes vanish in the wake of a violent rage. He has a weakness for alcohol and beautiful women.
3.) Serving as the gruff commander of the cargo holds, #3 specializes in the inter-planetary transport of livestock and other organic shipments. Her first impression often comes off as being direct to the point of brutality, very business oriented, and generally accepts no nonsense in her place of employment. One could say she's a softie at heart, but the commander of [Other Spaceship Leader] has yet to discover where exactly that is. Not that he hasn't been trying.
Heh, I just realized all of these are sci-fi related. Feel free to adapt them for other genres too! :D
Ah! I love #2. He's the perfect fit for my story. I've been needing an adventurer like him!! I do believe he has found a cozy, conspiracy-filled home. ^_^
Take these people away from me—they’re threatening to stage a coup on my current novel! (And, let's face it, they're just a bit too depressing...)
Name: Isidor Abbing
Age: About seventy, seventy-five.
Appearance: Thin and careworn. His hair is gun-metal grey, short and a little sparse. His eyes droop downward and are a watery blue color, giving him a look of perpetual melancholy. He tries to smile, but it’s never quite convincing. In dress, he is neat and fastidious. This almost makes up for the fact that all of his clothing is much repaired and a little threadbare.
Personality: Isidor is a man that’s been pushed around in life a little too much, but that may or may not be his own fault. A mechanical genius, he has always been more interested in his little tinkering projects than anything else. He has a history of letting other run right over him. There’s part of them that is angry at himself and the world, but he’s never been ambitious enough to do anything about it.
Possibilities: As is, he might be an interesting mentor figure—a sort of ‘you don’t want to end up like me, do you?’ example. Or, you could put a little fight in him and have him set about righting old wrongs him his twilight years.
Name: Guy Levitt
Age: Late twenties
Appearance: Somewhat reedy and gangly in appearance. Blond hair, green eyes, slightly sallow cast to his skin. He has a handsome enough face, but can often appear to be a little cold. He’s always well put-together, but a little careless in his dress and grooming.
Personality: Guy is always out and about, socializing and partying, but he never really seems to enjoy himself. He tends to dedicate himself to whims and fall into bleak depressions when they fade away. Many of his acquaintances have lost patience with him, but he always manages to score invitations. He does have a soft spot for classical music, and believes that, if he were ever to suicide, would do so at an opera. Because, you know, where else?
Possibilities: Once upon a time, he lived and died in the 1920s, searching and failing to find a meaning in life. He might do well as a family member that doesn’t quite fit in, or a very cynical love interest.
Abbing will be given new life as one of the humans trapped within the Other Realm in my story this year! I definitely think he'll get along fabulously with all the nonhuman and human half breeds my story is populated with.
Definitely taking Isidor if that's okay. An elderly, mechanical genius in a world where phyiscal strength and magic are the norm. I think my FMC has found a kindred spirit!
Corinne was going to be in my novel this year, but I changed plots and I can't find a place for her except for maybe a background character. However, I love her character too much to let her rot, so here she is.
Corinne was switched with a human child at birth. However, her parents didn't do her glamour correctly, and thus as she got older, her fey nature began showing through. She was teased for her pointed ears and unusually large eyes all throughout childhood, and when her wings started to grow in around puberty, she was completely ostracized. Thus, she has crippling self esteem issues and cannot use her innate fey abilities due to a combination of fear and a lack of anyone to teach her how. She's a sweet girl, fond of animals and small children, but she's so terribly timid that it's hard to get her to talk to anyone.
Oh yes! She can come home with me! She'll fit right in with the other half bloods and faeries in my story! *Takes her by the hand and drags her off to meet the MC*
I will take her! With a bit of tweaking if thats okay. She would be the perfect first friend for my MC, only thing that i would change would be instead of actually being a changeling-fairy, she would think she was one and take things to drastic measures and end up in a mental facility.... if thats okay
I'm leaving a character I tried to use in a book a couple of years back, who I loved, but the book went nowhere, due to getting stalled for ideas as to what to with another subplot.
The character is a shy young fisherman, late teens to early 20's, long wavy dark brown hair, very shy. He is an orphan, and his only inheritance, and only means of taking care of himself is the boat he lives on. (his father gambled away the rest of his fortune, or simply never told him where he hid it.) He lives on the boat with another young man a handful of years younger, another orphan he took in off the streets and made his first mate. The only other resident of the boat is a scruffy almost "Benji" looking dog. The area they live in is a chain of islands in the middle of the ocean. Wether there is anything out there beyond that chain of islands, no one knows.
Aw, I love him. My boyfriend is a fisherman and has his own little dingy and works on a sportfishing boat, and I've always wanted to write a character based off of his work/life. Totally taking him and tweaking him. :)
OMG, OMGOMG. I might have to take this guy and his younger first mate. My two female FMCs were originally supposed to marry a king and the king's son, but it might have to be these guys instead.
Stealing these two, although making them older and going from a chain of islands in the middle of no where to in the middle of no where on the shores of a Great Lake.
Oooh, I'm stealing these two, hopefully they can be used. ♥ Though they'll have to settle for living in the coastal town of Raleyville instead of their island chain.
I'm thinking maybe he could have an awesome adventure or two with a cynical cliche-hating girl who accidentally adopted a fallen angel. :) We shall see!
So I adopted a few and will most likely come back for more later on since my world needs enough characters for an epic war battle... but for now I'll leave these characters who've been sitting wringing their hands and waiting for their turn on the page:
#1 is a lonely woman, looking for some fun in life. She's brainy, smart mouthed, and quick witted. But she's ugly. Everyone says so. She's of average weight, but taller than average for a woman, so that she towers over most men (who find this intimidating). She has too big of a forehead and too thin of hair to cover it, a mouth that is too small to be good for kissing, and sad puppy eyes that make men run from her without even asking her name. She's not depressed, that's just how her eyes are. She's actually rather happy with her life, dull as it is. Until she meets #2 and discovers that being dull is not such a bad thing after all.
#2 is a woman who's always in trouble. She gets thrown out of bars for hustling the men out of their money in pool and darts, she gets tossed out of restaurants on dates for being too obnoxious, and she gets left waiting for a cab every time she goes out on a date because she's too blunt for most men to handle. But she's HOT. She's the kind of hot that's natural, with no makeup or fancy clothes. She's got legs for miles, and a smile that makes knees weak.
These two women end up meeting and falling in love some how in the story I had planned, before my story became a fantasy novel... so treat them well, and let me know what you plan to do with them!
Anyone want my terrible bard? He really can't sing, but he thinks he can, and he sees himself as the star of his own personal show, when in fact, he's a complete joke. No room for him in my novel, already full of quirky characters. It was him or the bandit, and the bandit at least knows the territory. The bard is useless.
Giggles... who could have known that you would describe a much beloved character from one of my early stories (like 20years ago)! Wow! Thanks for reminding me of how much I loved getting that guy into trouble. LOL!
Yes! I would love to snag him. My MMC needed a little more oomph and I think this is just it. Not only that, but I had already named him Rordan. :3 "Little poet king," oh my it's perfect!
Middle management in a company. This man doesn't really understand his own job, but he manages to get by by speaking in marketing speak and gumble 'Improving the throughput efficiency of the... blah blah". His wife's cheating on him, and he knows it, and he has a crush on his secretary but is resigned to his unhappy marriage and job. He lives an active fantasy life, however, where he saves the world and gets the girl. And he always, somehow, has a stain on his shirt/tie. Even though he always checks that it's clean before he puts it on.
A young man with no dreams. All about him his friends have ideas for what they want to be when they're older, and plans for their bright futures. Everyone's sure that this guy has a bright future too, they're just not sure what it is. He drifts through life from one thing to another. Until he realises that he's losing his hearing.
A librarian at a local library that's about to be closed down. This woman knows Shakespeare back to front and Dickens upside down, but she has a soft spot for Mills and Boone. She's determined, one way or another, that she's going to make a mark in the world. But she can only talk to other people by playing a character from a book she's read. One minute she's Elizabeth Bennett, the next she's channelling Aragorn. She's so lost in being someone else, she never notices when people notice her.
An elderly lady, whose husband of fifty years + has just died. She's got her health and her wealth, but she spent so long as part of a duo, now she's looking for herself. She'll take an interest in anything that's going and she doesn't take nonsense from anybody. She's soft on the outside, but mess with her at your own risk.
Oh, I'd adore giving a home to the recent widow. I've this idea about her creating an art gallery for local artists in my story and she's got the right attributes. [didn't even know I was going to have said art gallery LOL]
I made a character from a novel named: The Garden of Eden and the Petals of Miracles I abandoned this novel after I tried to copy Final Fantasy and knew it was impossible to modify it.
1) Chronosia: A girl who thought she was a simple farm girl but was actually related to Khronos. Eventually similair to her Father she manipulates time.
2) Prex: A man with such extended faith he performed miracles for his town. He was the main character of the story.
3) James: Prex main enemy which later on in the story was actually Prex's twin brother who was seperated during birth. Unlike his brother he created vodoo.
I like the terrible bard; he reminds me of Cacofonix the bard in Asterix. I'll have him (and modify him a bit) because my novel could do with some comic relief somewhere.
I have a spare that I would love to see developed...
1. An Soldier- Some elite unit, Scottish by birth. Not an engineer. Red hair, green eyes. Returns home wounded in action with a desire to return to action but is faced with the time for healing both the body and the internal self. When he dresses in full dress uniform, it is with a MacQueen clan kilt and dress sword. His first name must be Ian (in memory of the real man I miss very dearly.) Think this would make a great "romantic" character, or even a character in a "sci-fi" type story where even though he's wounded in body and spirit, he rallies to save the day. If you chose to adopt Ian, please, let me read your piece when it's finished.
I really love this character and I might develop a plot around him. He's coming home with me. I imagine his name being Ian Alexander Eakins (Scottish last name pronounced Akins). Approve?
Would you like to know if I do make a story to fit him?
Love Ian- His name will definitely stay Ian, as that fits perfectly. Major plotholes, so I'm not exactly sure what part he'll have in my story yet. NaNoMail me and I'll give you my email and the current run-down of my novel, if you like.
Hey, I'm adopting Ian too! He will remain Ian and he'll have a very important part - I was needing someone to be a decent member of the resistance because at the minute everyone else suck xD I sent you a NaNo mail, also.
I loved this character, from my first try at wrimo, but her story fizzled out.
Penelope - a young girl (12 or 13ish) growing up in small town America. She is generally happy, loves her family, pet cockatoo, and most subjects in school. Sometimes lazy, not prone to day-dreaming, but comfortable to sit without occupation. She spends a lot of time doing arts and crafts - sort of paper cutting, making cards, type stuff. Most strikingly, though, her face is that of a clock (like clock face). It runs in her family. This doesn't cause her too much worry, though she can be teased occasionally. It's only as she enters puberty that she begins to realize the burden of being 'different'.
Adopt a Character!
This is where you drop off your unneeded Characters! Remember that this thread is for fully fledged character descriptions, if you have just a name, head over to the Adopt A Name thread
Re: Adopt a Character!
"A child born with pointed ears. S/he can hear the voices of supernatural creatures. Terrified parents/guardians chop the ends off her/his ears to hide the abnormality. But despite this disfigurement, the child can still hear otherworldly voices, mangled, but there..."
Can I adopt this, please? If I tweak it a little?
Re: Adopt a Character!
Feel free! :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting! Aw it would work so well for one of my characters. It's for kind of a sciencey story but it would work so well.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I love this description of Maisy-Li for my character Siri if you don't mind me taking and tweaking a little. Obviously to fit my own plot.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Consider her adopted with some changes to fit my YA fantasy plot! Thanks a mil :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Maisy-Li sounds like an amazing foil for my (rather pessimistic) FMC. Adopted with changes to fit my dystopian scifi plot.
Re: Adopt a Character!
adopting and changing this darling <3 I love her
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting this lovely lady. With a small name change she will be a perfect addition to the cast of my romance. The FMC needs someone happy to lighten things up. Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
She's just who I need! Might tweek a little bit though :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm going to take Maisy-Li and tweak her for a character for camp nanowrimo.
Re: Adopt a Character!

Er...Never posted to the forums so if I do this wrong, poke me in a NanoMail or something so I'll be sure to see?

Re: Adopt a Character!
I am definetly adopting Lily Tuck :). She sounds like such an awesome character
Re: Adopt a Character!
she will fit my plot perfectly! thanks so much.
Re: Adopt a Character!
WOW! Adopting, totally. A bit of tweaking but she's gonna do great!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Tweaking her for my fantasy.....I'm keeping the look and some of the personality...thanks! =)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting and tweaking just a bit to make her a perfect little sister to one of my characters. Perfect as in perfect source of drama and lots of words.
Re: Adopt a Character!
wow, I'm gonna definitely tweak a lot of this, but I'm gonna adopt!
Re: Adopt a Character!
She seems great! definitley want her
thanks
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take carl in, i think i have the perfect spot for him.(big part)
Re: Adopt a Character!
i can use Carl! thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I have a character named Amethyst
Re: Adopt a Character!
She sounds like a perfect adult figure for my fantasy story. I can picture my younger characters approaching her for help. Adopting, thank you! I really like this character xD
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm glad she's got a home AniFay :) <3
Re: Adopt a Character!
She sounds cool, I believe that I can find a place for her in my story. Thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Er, Amethyst, I mean.
Re: Adopt a Character!
that's fantastic :) I'm glad she's able to be helpful.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I might adopt her for my fantasy about fairies....small part....thank you =)
Re: Adopt a Character!
that sounds like great fun. :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Stolen for my zombie apocalypse! Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
hhaha USING. at least some of it XD
Re: Adopt a Character!
1)
A man deserving more than he receives at his death. He lives nobly and dies even more nobly, only to be robbed of his possessions and hastily rolled into a shallow, unmarked grave by the companions he has saved. He is later dug up some starving carrion eater, savaged, and eaten.
2)
A pair of historical lovers, whose story has been told and retold, mythologized, bowdlerized, watered down for safe consumption, rediscovered, and celebrated in all its vibrant originality.
3)
A child born with pointed ears. S/he can hear the voices of supernatural creatures. Terrified parents/guardians chop the ends off her/his ears to hide the abnormality. But despite this disfigurement, the child can still hear otherworldly voices, mangled, but there...
4
A Wise Old Mentor who is actually a con man.
Re: Adopt a Character!
This thing won't let me quote for some reason, so i'll just copy and paste the one I'm borrowing.
3)
A child born with pointed ears. S/he can hear the voices of supernatural creatures. Terrified parents/guardians chop the ends off her/his ears to hide the abnormality. But despite this disfigurement, the child can still hear otherworldly voices, mangled, but there...
I don't know if I'll use it this year or not, but it just sounds so cool.
Um, is it ok if I hide their ears instead of having them chopped off?
Re: Adopt a Character!
Sure thing! Have fun, :-)
Re: Adopt a Character!
A child born with pointed ears. S/he can hear the voices of supernatural creatures. Terrified parents/guardians chop the ends off her/his ears to hide the abnormality. But despite this disfigurement, the child can still hear otherworldly voices, mangled, but there...
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking this. My NaNo this year requires a huge cast of characters so I might be taking more as I progress through the thread.
Leaving: A 70-year-old man (or woman) who has still not retired from his/her chosen occupation--being a ninja.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Ooh I could definitely work with this.
Taking c:
Thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Ooo, I like where this might take me. Borrowing, (with minor edits :D), thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
A ninja! :D Totally taking it, sounds awesome! Though I might make HER first retired, but she might need her ninja skills again... ^_^
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm adopting Dawn. She's exactly what I need.
Re: Adopt a Character!
The old wiseman/conman one is fantastic! I don't know if I'm going to use it yet, but I'm saving it just in case :)
I'll leave one (I may use her too but she's shareable):
A 20-30 something year old albino girl, who dresses like a porcelain doll and acts like a child.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Love the idea of an albino dressing like a porcelain doll that acts like a child... if I can find a way to use this I will! Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
snagging this one. She's perfect for a resident of a very weird asylum I've got brewing.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh! I think I have a perfect spot for her! Running off with her!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Yeah, totally just put her in a perfect spot. She's wonderful! Hope you don't mind that I made her into a traumatized nutcase!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting that one!
Re: Adopt a Character!
The con man sounds like an awesome character, I think I might use him for my novel.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Can I take number one? He won't be a man (well, he's male, but not a human), but that idea is just perfect!
Re: Adopt a Character!
4. is utterly amazing - thank you!!! This and watching The Three Musketeers earlier have helped spawn my plot idea :)
(I will post my ideas to the main article rather than this one to make it more organised).
Re: Adopt a Character!
I love The Three Musketeers! High five for inspiration from everyone's favourite troublesome trio!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'd like to adopt number 1 for the possible back story of the ship in my sci-fi novel. This is such a great thread!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
probably gonna end up using 4, the Wise Old Mentor. Sounds hilarious but I'm not sure if I'll get around to writing any letters
Re: Adopt a Character!
4) is awesome! Doesn't fit for this year's Nano, but I am so going to file him away for later use. Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I would love to use 2
2)
A pair of historical lovers, whose story has been told and retold, mythologized, bowdlerized, watered down for safe consumption, rediscovered, and celebrated in all its vibrant originality.
I'm New to NaNo....I love this, great start for a plot idea too :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I love 3 and 4 but can I tweak them a bit for my fantasy novel? I love them and connected as soon as I read.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I think I will use the Wise Old mentor. I have an Order of monks. He becomes the head of the Order by an elaborate con. He then uses his power to try and oust some local witches.
Re: Adopt a Character!
[Post Removed, misplaced thread]
Re: Adopt a Character!
Mara Stone
Age 16-20
She's a pretty girl- long dark hark, gray eyes, pointed face, warm smile.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'd like to borrow this character for an idea I just recently had.
She'd be one of the MCs. The story is a romance, following a young woman called Nina who deals with misanthropy and encounters her love interest, an asexual but biromantic woman. Are you okay with that?
Re: Adopt a Character!
that sounds wonderful!
Re: Adopt a Character!
thank you! I'm glad I may use Mara *copypastes her into Word document*
Re: Adopt a Character!
actually a character of the story i´d like to write is quite similar to your Mara (even the name, mine is called Cara ^^)
hope you don´t mind. she´ll be the MC of a fantasy-novel :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
You're writing an asexual character?! *squee* I'm asexual! Represent. XD
Re: Adopt a Character!
Swiping! She sounds like the perfect character to find a magical tome and play around with it.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I have put Mara into my list of possible characters! I'm not sure what I'm doing quite yet, but I'll let you know if I use her in the end! Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I may steal Mara.
I'm sure my gang would love to try to drag her along on a random adventure.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I may have a place for her, but we'll see. (My plot is lacking an MC, and for all that I don't know anything about my MC, I do know a lot about what he/she can't be like.)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'd like to adopt Mara Stone, with a slight tweak- I'd need her to be around 14. Not really sure what her full part is yet, but hey.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
*choke* That sounds like me! Except for the appearance part. -.-
Re: Adopt a Character!
Using her as my last minute MC. I have not planned or anything, so wish me luck.... thank you :3
Re: Adopt a Character!
Using her as my MC's love interest! Thanks. I'll let you know if it works out :p
Re: Adopt a Character!
I think I might have to borrow Mara (with minor changes). She sounds like a very intriguing character. :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
oh oh oh i like her!! hahaha she seems a lot like me though and i thinks its odd i might just borrow the name and edit the bio. that cool with you?
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm going to use Mara but tweak her and rename her Zinnia. (I'll NaNoMail)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Would like to use as my FMC for my reincarnation story...
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh, going to claim all five--I've got a supervillain, and he needs some coworkers/friends/potentially a roommate :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
"I've got a supervillain, and he needs ... a roommate."
Right, I'm stealing that for a (later) plot, if that's ok?
Re: Adopt a Character!
That's hilarious!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Going to claim #1 and #5 for MC's friend and a nice side story.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I have a lot of characters to populate my world with... and I've got all the good guys pretty much. So thanks for the bad guys! Some of them will be perfect they way they are, though #1 will have to be some kind of addict but not gambling since there's no such thing in my world. *rubs hands together mischievously*
Re: Adopt a Character!
I am like you. I'm not good at making bad guys!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I need as many assassins as I can get my hands on, so I'll take the lot!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Claiming the Assasins will be perfect for my bad guy/girl who will be all but I didn't actually kill them so you can't blame me! :D (Bad guy/girl doesn't have a name yet )
Re: Adopt a Character!
Ooh, I need assassin characters! I'll keep them all in mind, but 4 and 5 look especially promising. 1 might be useful, as well, with a bit of tweaking...
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take #2, 4, and 5. They'll give my main character a run for his money.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Stealing #5 :) He's perfect for one of the people in my organization of elite killers and fighters :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I may very well be taking these five charming gentlemen, if you don't mind. With a little adjustment and variation, they would do quite well for me (though the details are still coming together). Quite the five man army there.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I like assassin #5... the unseen, unheard shadow... has possibilities... Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Epic! These guys are perfect for my mc's assassin friends. Consider it taken!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oooh, I steal. I need them! I need Mob members for my plot... They'll do quite nicely.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'ma nab 5. Sounds like perfect hitman in mine. Gonna have to tweek him for reasons.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Going to adopt them all if you be willing, though I might tweak one, and they won't all be antagonists...
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking and tweaking no. 1, probably as a random obstacle :) thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
stealing one and five :) thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Sticking all 5 into my 'ideas' file ^_^
I have no plot, and no MC yet, so I'm still in magpie mode waiting for something to click
Re: Adopt a Character!
im writing a story about assassins so i can definately give these guys some names!! ill tweak the personalities just a bit if thats okay
Re: Adopt a Character!
Um, I'll take Assasins #4+5! THANKS!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Assassin # 5 sounds alike my character that killed a few of my main characters. All he needs is a name and I am good. Will go to the adopt a name after I find a character to replace a old character.
Re: Adopt a Character!
This is great. My NaNo this year is about White Collar criminals, and #1's gambling addiction is a perfect backstory for my MC's father. Filing away. Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh, I need these guys. Some minor tweaks, but in a crime story they're just what I'm looking for.
Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I love these guys but they just aren't people I can write very well...
Laura May Allison
Late 30s-Early 40s
Auburn poof hair, frown lines, rough hands, striking green eyes are the first things that come to mind.
Betty
50s
Platinum blonde hair, plastic surgery, fur trimmed coat, to much makeup, nice smile, bright eyes, slightly chubby, short.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I like Laura May Allison a lot, going to see if I can fit her in!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I like Laura also! Unfortunately I think I could only give her a small part. Still... we'll see.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Def going to take Laura. She is perfect for the part I have in mind. (why do I feel like central casting suddenly? lol)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I really want to work Laura into my novel as the mother as my MC. Is it okay if I change her name, because I have a name in mind that I want to use. Thanks a lot!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I think I may use Laura as my antagonist. I will need to change her some cus my story is set in a more medieval type time.
Re: Adopt a Character!
There just may be a need for Betty in my novel. Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I might use Laura, only she works at a coffeehouse. I'm writing a rather peculiar story which requires a new cast of characters about every 10,000 word. I never realized it would be hard to come up with so many. Thanks.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I really like Laura too, adopting her with a different name and tweaking her a little.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Tip: Check your email's spam folder for names and write quick character/plot sketches for them. Here are three character descriptions from the enhanced-prowess-promisers that enlivened my spam folder recently (they come with mini-plots attached, but feel free to strip those away) -
Herman Dodd
Herman’s mission in life is to open an antiques shop in the small market town where he lives.
Rory Ebony
Rory is a ten-year-old psychic vampire who steals a little bit of lifeforce from everyone he meets.
Felecia Darcey
There was a time when Felecia was the It Girl of all It Girls.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Herman Dodd deserves a place in my NaNo.
Leaving: Susanne Dempsey--mother of four; married three times, each time climbing higher up the income scale. During her third loveless marriage, she meets a younger man who is penniless but who proves to her what she had long ago figured out--that money doesn't buy happiness.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Rory Ebony has found a home, may even get his on book if behave well!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Thank you for the spam mail idea! Now I can finally do something useful with all of these random messages I keep getting. :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
The spam mail idea is genius - Thanks!!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking Felecia, thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Rory would be perfect for a small part I had an opening in my plot for. Just the skeleton will survive the changing of hands to me thou.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I, too, plan to use Rory. I'd already planned on doing a vampire next door thing for my folks to investigate. Rory's pretty perfect. They can even put him and the old lady in touch with one another. ^^
Re: Adopt a Character!
Another trick is to get a Baby Names book from the library, perferably copyrighted in the years you're writing from.. this is especially important if you're writing something historical.
Pen.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Kidnapping Herman, thanks!
Hrrrmmmm, I may have just found a subplot for my NaNo...
Re: Adopt a Character!
I like Felicia. She has a place in one of the 2 stories i'm considering for NaNoWriMo. Cheers :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I absolutely love Herman! He will definitely have a significant impact on my MC, thank you!!
Re: Adopt a Character!
ooh I like Felecia a lot actually! Won't work for the novel I'm working on though..MIGHT use her for something else....*puts her back on the shelf for now*
Re: Adopt a Character!
Rory is showing his plot bunny side to me. I shall mush him as a best friend of my vampire! >DD
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking and tweaking Rory :) thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Totally stealing Rory - thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh my God, your characters are genius! I don't know where i'm going to put them, or even if i'll use them, but i'm snagging all three...
Re: Adopt a Character!

Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll adopt Clea and Fawn Branson. They'd fit in well with my story this year, since my main female character has prosthetic legs due to her automobile accident. Maybe Clea can meet her in rehabilitation or something?
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take Penny and Ivy Harris along with Matthias McLeod. Although, I may tweak his name a little and make him bisexual. Thanks for leaving them. =D
Re: Adopt a Character!
Well, technically, identical twins are clones...
(Well, technically technically they are a clone...)
Anyway, I'll take Cedric and make him a sailor.
Re: Adopt a Character!
My sister says that all the time and has actually freaked people out with it. ^^
Re: Adopt a Character!
Ooh, I like the Bransons. And I have a character in need of staff workers. They'd make a nice pair of volunteers, I think.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh, Choi Wong is PERFECT for a character I've been struggling to place! I may tweak his first name a bit and age him up a year, but altogether... just yes. PERFECT!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll adopt Minnie and Mari, I'll make a place for them in my NaNo.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I think I will take Cedric. I think he'll fit in just fine and I think I have a perfect fit in the story.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Although, I think I might make him a little older if that's okay.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I love Choi and Minette and I needed personality like theres! I am probably going to have Minette's twin die during childbirth or soon after it though.
Re: Adopt a Character!
i really love all your ideas! they fit perfectly with my stle of writing! I'm thinking Penelope Harris mixed with Clea Bronsan could potentially make a really interesting character! What do you think?
Re: Adopt a Character!
I like Cedric. He will be a misfit who later on in the story has to face his fear of snakes.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Stealing Cedric! That little red head! He'll have a cozy place in my novel.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm adopting Penny, Matthias and Chloe. Their names might get changed, but I love the idea of them.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take Penny, Ivy, Minnie and Mari. : )
Re: Adopt a Character!
I might use Choi and Fawn (tweak Fawn's age a little if that's ok). I'm going to be needing a lot of characters for this novel
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting Minnie and Mari with a few changes, if that's ok. Slightly older, with a different last name, and they'll fit perfectly into my story this year.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Might take the twins and Cedric, maybe combine them or something. I'll see, but thanks :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm stealing Clea Branson. I will need to make some changes to fit her into my world.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Good ones! Since I'm writing with the backdrop of a boarding school for my sci-fi Nano, I just may use them all in some capacity! Thanks! :0) Pen.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting Fawn, thanks! My MC may end up as a writer, so Fawn fits perfectly.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting mari and minnie and editing and expanding their characters...
thanks a lot
Re: Adopt a Character!
Penny will fit nicely. I'm going to add her to my notes, but probably older. She will either be college or grad-school aged. And a side character.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm going to take Felix and change him/her? a little bit. Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I think I will adopt Fawn Branson! She fits in my plot as the mc's boss perfectly! Thanks :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll adopt Minne, Choi, and Felix. I'm trying to populate a boarding school, so I may slightly tweak their "majors" to areas of interest. Thank you for creating them!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Stealing the tattoo bit from cedric - if you don't mind?
Re: Adopt a Character!
Muffin Fist? That's wonderful, I love him! Can I have him? One of my MCs may just be getting a kitty....I don't really care for most of the others though...heheheh, you know someone's a cat lover when they ignore a long list of human characters and immediately pick out the one cat.
Re: Adopt a Character!
taking all (at least in part! they will have a great home in my story) and leaving---
these guys are mostly stereotypical high school personalities who became friends when they all moved into the same appartment building and were on the same floor
jack- a loner type guy who seems to attract friends though he dosent want them (black hair green eyes 17)

Marc- party boy who has lots of fighting issues (shaggy blond hair and almost black eyes 19)
Kate-pyro and proud. could blow up the world if she wanted (boy shourt mouse brown hair and green eyes 18)
Erin- the mover she cant sit still and is always on the go wakes up super early goes to bed late. drinks lots of coffee (ginger hair light green eyes 19)

Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting Alex, Kate, Erin, Marc, and Annabell (with some tweaking; I need them at an adult age but this really helps flesh them out).
Re: Adopt a Character!
Actually, check that, I just realized I can use them all (although not all at once).
Thanks again!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting Jack, Marc, Alex, and Erin.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I might drop Choi into my story somewhere. I like the description. (:
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll adopt Chloe Sharpe. She is perfect for my story.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take Cedric :) He'll fit perfectly into my fantasy plot...
Re: Adopt a Character!
I am adopting Ivy, Fawn, and Penelope. I think they would make good members of a coven in my fantasy book. Thanks so much!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Im taking bits and pieces, here and there and adding it to character skeletons I already had.
thanks this helped alot XD
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'd love to adopt Matthias and Felix and tweek them a little bit. They'd be perfect for my story!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking Felix; he should show up sometime in the next three scenes. Thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I know this is a bit out of season, but I'm going to take Cedric and Matthias in advance... Unless you have a problem with that at this point. I'm not entirely sure if adopting in... late January is allowed.
Re: Adopt a Character!
adopting Cedric and Penny
Re: Adopt a Character!
A pair of twin brothers who very acutely feel each others emotions and pain, to the point of physically experiencing any injury inflicted upon the other brother. Personality wise, they're similar to the point of basically being the same person in two bodies.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Hmm...they might fit into my story pretty well. I think I'll adopt them.
Re: Adopt a Character!
adopting the concept because it fits so well into my narrative - thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
My son and his brother are like this, though not born as twins of the same mother, they were born within three minutes of each other on two different continents. It is eerie how they sense and know one another's pain, joy, etc.
Re: Adopt a Character!
This may fit my novel- not sure though. I'll have to work out some kinks before I can fully tell. So possibly adopting :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Hmm...I do believe #2 could be very useful for me. I believe I'll adopt him.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Ah! I love #2. He's the perfect fit for my story. I've been needing an adventurer like him!! I do believe he has found a cozy, conspiracy-filled home. ^_^
Re: Adopt a Character!
when his companions mention a seemingly unrelated [place/event/group of people] any jokes vanish in the wake of a violent rage.
I think I will use this. I will change it though so that he flies into a fit of giggles each time
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take 2 home as well - he's absolutely perfect! And he gets to save the world, little coward that he is xD
Re: Adopt a Character!
Grabbing #1. This will work really well, thanks
Re: Adopt a Character!
Could most defantly use 3 for my werewolf pack....
Re: Adopt a Character!
I won't adopt any but #1 gave me an idea for a whole new novel! Thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Abbing will be given new life as one of the humans trapped within the Other Realm in my story this year! I definitely think he'll get along fabulously with all the nonhuman and human half breeds my story is populated with.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I could definitely make use of Guy. May tweak him a little and modernize him but he seems really interesting already. (:
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take these two under my wing. I might tweak them a little bit to fit the story. I can see how these two can work together.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Isidor Abbing would be a great addition to my story. I might do a little tweaking, though.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Can I take the appearence of Guy and put him in my Crusades Era novel?
Re: Adopt a Character!
Go right ahead. :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking Both! These two are basically perfect for two members of my story!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Definitely taking Isidor if that's okay. An elderly, mechanical genius in a world where phyiscal strength and magic are the norm. I think my FMC has found a kindred spirit!
Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
wiping pieces of Isidor's character, thanks so much!
Re: Adopt a Character!
*swiping ;)
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'll take Isidor...though I might change the name and species. The personality is just what I needed for a mentor/protag! Thanks! :0) Pen.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Isidor will make the perfect Long-Lost-Grandfather for my MC. Adopting, thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Might have to adopt Guy as a small background character. He's too interesting to leave here.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Would you mind if I adopted Isidor's appearance? He's the perfect visual for one of my mentoring characters :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Might be able to squeeze Isador in if I tweak him a little. I think what he needs is a little bit of spunk, a cane, and maybe a couple cats. :3
Re: Adopt a Character!
I think I'm going to adopt Guy maybe tweek him a little if thats ok? :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Corinne was going to be in my novel this year, but I changed plots and I can't find a place for her except for maybe a background character. However, I love her character too much to let her rot, so here she is.
Name: Corinne
Age: 17
Species: Changeling--Fairy
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 90lbs
Corinne was switched with a human child at birth. However, her parents didn't do her glamour correctly, and thus as she got older, her fey nature began showing through. She was teased for her pointed ears and unusually large eyes all throughout childhood, and when her wings started to grow in around puberty, she was completely ostracized. Thus, she has crippling self esteem issues and cannot use her innate fey abilities due to a combination of fear and a lack of anyone to teach her how. She's a sweet girl, fond of animals and small children, but she's so terribly timid that it's hard to get her to talk to anyone.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh yes! She can come home with me! She'll fit right in with the other half bloods and faeries in my story! *Takes her by the hand and drags her off to meet the MC*
Re: Adopt a Character!
I have a place for her too! Her name will have to change though.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Huh...I may use her, with a few tweaks. Younger, definitely. It just ocurred to me to make all of my MC somehow secretly magical!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I will take her! With a bit of tweaking if thats okay. She would be the perfect first friend for my MC, only thing that i would change would be instead of actually being a changeling-fairy, she would think she was one and take things to drastic measures and end up in a mental facility.... if thats okay
Re: Adopt a Character!
i loooove her so imma going to take her ill change her up some if you want me too
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Aw, I love him. My boyfriend is a fisherman and has his own little dingy and works on a sportfishing boat, and I've always wanted to write a character based off of his work/life. Totally taking him and tweaking him. :)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh yay! I absolutely loved this character, and I'm glad that you're adopting him. Lemme know how it goes.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I have just the place for him, too. One of my major characters grew up in the Outer Hebrides, so he'll fit in perfectly.
Re: Adopt a Character!
OMG, OMGOMG. I might have to take this guy and his younger first mate. My two female FMCs were originally supposed to marry a king and the king's son, but it might have to be these guys instead.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking this to tweak a little/use as general inspiration, possibly. I'll let you know if I use him! :D
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking him please. :) He's going to help my protagonist out and maybe point her in the right direction (in life in general, not just her quest).
Re: Adopt a Character!
Stealing these two, although making them older and going from a chain of islands in the middle of no where to in the middle of no where on the shores of a Great Lake.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Yes, taking! These two will be perfect for one of my MC's roommates. (:
Re: Adopt a Character!
I love them :D
Stealing for my 'idea' file, even if they don't make it into this year's book.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm taking them but dont know where they will fit in yet...
Re: Adopt a Character!
But maybe you can make him work.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Taking him, well, taking and tweaking. I need filler and I think he'll do brilliantly (unlike his singing). ^__^
Thank you!
Re: Adopt a Character!
And I shall call him Scaramouche, and he shall be mine. >.>
And anyone else who wants him is welcome to him as well, of course.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh he's adorable. XD I'll be taking him as well. Thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I don't know when I'll get around to using him, but I will definitely be giving him a good home!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Giggles... who could have known that you would describe a much beloved character from one of my early stories (like 20years ago)! Wow! Thanks for reminding me of how much I loved getting that guy into trouble. LOL!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Hmm...I think I have a perfect spot for your bard~ X3 *snatches*
Re: Adopt a Character!
Yes! I would love to snag him. My MMC needed a little more oomph and I think this is just it. Not only that, but I had already named him Rordan. :3 "Little poet king," oh my it's perfect!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Oh, I'd adore giving a home to the recent widow. I've this idea about her creating an art gallery for local artists in my story and she's got the right attributes. [didn't even know I was going to have said art gallery LOL]
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm glad she's found something to do! :) And that she added to your novel.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Adopting the librarian and the middle manager! I don't have a plot for them to occupy as of yet, but I do have a town, :]
Re: Adopt a Character!
Thanks! I'm sure the plot will come... and even if it doesn't make it before Nov 1, that's what Nano's all about.
Re: Adopt a Character!
The actress works for me with a few tweaks. And making her fit in a steam punk world.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Kidnapping the young man and librarian, thanks!
Re: Adopt a Character!
Love the middle management guy, perfect for what I want to do, so definitely has a home in my novel. Will be adopting him, thanks.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I'm taking the librarian.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I might steal Chronosia, she might fit in the book i am looking to get. I might need to tweak her a little.
Re: Adopt a Character!
I like the terrible bard; he reminds me of Cacofonix the bard in Asterix.
I'll have him (and modify him a bit) because my novel could do with some comic relief somewhere.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Re: Adopt a Character!
I really love this character and I might develop a plot around him. He's coming home with me. I imagine his name being Ian Alexander Eakins (Scottish last name pronounced Akins). Approve?
Would you like to know if I do make a story to fit him?
Re: Adopt a Character!
Yes, Dear, I would. I got your email, and it's all good! :0)
Re: Adopt a Character!
Love Ian- His name will definitely stay Ian, as that fits perfectly. Major plotholes, so I'm not exactly sure what part he'll have in my story yet. NaNoMail me and I'll give you my email and the current run-down of my novel, if you like.
Re: Adopt a Character!
Hey, I'm adopting Ian too! He will remain Ian and he'll have a very important part - I was needing someone to be a decent member of the resistance because at the minute everyone else suck xD I sent you a NaNo mail, also.
Re: Adopt a Character!
