Do a search on "band name generator" and you'll find plenty of sites that will automatically generate random band names. One example: this site. Warning: this can become addictive and interfere with more gainful pursuits - like writing about the band!

I always thought "Various Artists" was a great name for a band because so many compilation albums are advertised as that - you'd have a guaranteed fanbase! For the same reason I think "Special Guests" is also a good name - I go to so many gigs that are being supported by 'special guests'... Failing that, my default band name if I ever need one is Piscatory Gilmore. I don't actually remember how I came by it, but it seems to work for me.

I write about bands a lot. Was hoping to be in one at one point with my cousin, but we both gave up learning how to play guitar and keyboard when we found out we don't have a musical bone in our body. So, here's a mix of band names I've used in my stories and ones my cousin and I made up for our imaginary band. Feel free to use any of them: Forgotten The Cold Ones Blaze Kyrenwolf The Familiars Unwanted Stigma Kayos Boredom Killz Hot & Spicy (I believe that was taken from a food wrapper at one point) Dissonance Psychotik (My cousin and I went through a faze where we found it cool to purposefully misspell things) False Fallen Peppermint Deadline That's all I can remember right now.
