This was a real dream I had this morning and I wish I could find a way to work it into my story but I just can't so I am giving it away!
It was a vampire themed dream (which is pretty common for me) but the only way to attack these vampires was with laughter. And the only way they could be killed was to be staked with peppermint sticks.
I've had a similar dream - I was being chased by both vampires and banshees. With banshees, you had to hit them twice on the head. With the vampires, you had no chance. You could only run.
Others:
Standing outside the house of your lover and his wife, speaking to him about the affair as you watch her washing dishes through the kitchen window. (This came after doing a lot of work on the trope of The Drudge)
Walking the corridors of your old school, long since razed to the ground, talking to an old favourite teacher about how "none of this exists, now".
Not being sure if you're dreaming or awake, walking into the living room, holding a piece of bread and asking "this way I will know if this is a dream, Dad - what am I holding?" and he says "a brown onion".
You're having a fling with a character from a TV show. You, he & his mortal enemy are on a car journey together. They are both vying for your attention.
You discover the cure for a disease (or something less curable! it's a dream remember) and can see it perfectly - the diagrams and step-by-step plans and your conscious brain thinks "OH! THIS MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK!" but not being able to remember a thing, except the vague colour of blue, when you wake.
You go to the cinema to see a film you've been looking forward to for months, but fall asleep and miss everything but the credits.
I need to adopt a prophetic dream involving an allegience between griffins and elves..... The heiress to the highest throne of the elves is having the dream.
Leaving some dreams! Uh... Mostly based on one's I've had myself. ^_^;
- In a dream, you as a child wander down the street from your home and walk up to the house of a neighbor who's also a family friend. Walking around the house, you wind up in a backyard which is suddenly a fantastical garden; looking up, you see a glass ceiling similar to that of a greenhouse stretching hiiiiiiiiigh overhead. When you wake the next morning and head off to work/school/wherever, you see that house is empty and a For Sale sign is out front; or, you see that the house has finally sold (your neighbor having moved out earlier) and a new tenant (or tenants) is moving in.
- You have a dream where you're in the bathroom at home (about to shower, getting ready in the morning, whatever) and everything is normal until you look down: Your legs are sprouting budding vines and leaves with strange flowers, which break through your skin and lace roots deep into your flesh. It doesn't hurt, but you're so shocked and terrified that you can't even scream; you wake in bed while it's still dark outside, your legs itching until you have to check. They're normal, of course. -- Possible meaning: Body-image issues? Maybe it's swimsuit season or there's going a pageant/formal event/other where your legs are going wear something besides pants and you're self-conscious. Alternately, the person might have some kind of injury in one or both legs, possibly even paralyzed from the waist down, and the 'itch' was - or wasn't - entirely in their head.
- In your dream, you're having a casual meal or hanging out with someone you haven't seen for years, possibly a friend or even an enemy from grade school. The two of you are having tons of fun and it's the most comfortable you've been with anyone for a long time; when you wake up, you're a bit regretful that it was just a dream. You may or may not decide to look them up and see what's happened with them over all this time.
- You are somehow trapped somewhere (a town, a maze, another time) with someone of the opposite gender who embodies all of the things you aren't; if you're shy they're outgoing, if you're an okay student they're brilliant, if you have a stutter they speak magnetically, ect. Over the course of the dream, you meet people who remind you of those you've known in real life a la The Wizard of Oz, though they could be best friends, acquaintances, distant relatives, whatever. Just before you and your companion (of the opposite gender) escape, something threatens the both of you and you have to decide whether to try and save your companion or rush past the threat and escape alone. Either way your companion is left behind as you escape, but the choice you made affects how you feel when you wake up.
Leaving a dream- It was black and white. Long hallway. Open every door, people making out. Very attractive people. I want to join but I stay behind and the door seems to slam in front of me every time. At the end of the hall, there is a couch with a boy on it. He flips on the TV. We become friends.
I was in a school cafeteria, and this soldier came in that i knew. I suppose he was coming back from active duty. When I ran to go see him my path was blocked by life sized toy soldiers. That was all I remembered of the dream, if it helps the soldier was in the Marine Corps., can be changed if necessary. Happy writing!
I'd love to read what you've got for the ones I left. One day. If you don't mind.
Also leaving:
A consistent stream of dreams, all on a theme of trying to get home and being followed by a group of men. The uneasiness wakes you up, but as soon as you fall back to sleep you're yet again in the middle of a strange town you're meant to know, taking corners at a run.
1. There is an abandoned garden beside your new house. It's huge, with greenhouses and glasshouses and fountains, etc. At night, it comes alive with lights and all sorts of magical creatures. You enter and meet a boy there who ushers you out and tells you to lock every door and window before three (or was it four?) You go home and try to persuade your family to do so but they disregard you until they hear something at the door. And then a creature bursts in, round and fat and pink and almost like an inflated Kirby. It's cute, but when it turns to see you it becomes vicious and tries to eat you. You fight it off with a clothes-hanger.
Okay... dwell on that...
2. You are in a volunteer group but you don't really know what you are volunteering for. They push you and a few others into a van, all black and with tinted windows, and you become suspicious. The van stops after some time, you get down, and you see lots of teenage gangsters, delinquents with bats and cigarettes, etc. They stare at the lot of you, as if wondering whether to fight you or something. Suddenly, police sirens start wailing. Apparently you're supposed to fight the teens alongside the police and help catch them all. Some teens fight back with their bats, others run. There is gunfire. You see one boy huddled up against the pavement. He is shaking and for some reason you pity him. Immensely. You run up and hug him and try to protect him all mother-chicken-like. He doesn't stop shaking. He doesn't even seem to notice you. Hands shove you off. There's a bit of tussling and before you know it the boy has been wrung away from you. You sit back on your heels dazed as you watch him being loaded off into a police van.
Okay... here's another.
3. You're standing in a glass house, and apparently it's yours. You press up against one wall and see that you're right at the end of a cliff, in fact a waterfall, with water rushing down from both sides of your house. There is a river far down below, and huge goldfish the colours of a rainbow swim about in it.
And one last one!
4. You're holding a tiny bottle, and there is a glass figurine of a dragon inside, with a bit of sand. Next thing you know the little bottle is tumbling towards the carpet. There is the scream of breaking glass, lots of sand billows out, and from between the broken glass shards rolls out a boy.
This is really weird but... I once had a dream that i traveled back in time, and met king arthur Then my older brother fell in love with a dragon, that the Jonas brothers killed, and my brother killed Kevin. And then i married Joe Jonas... Yeah i have very strange dreams XD
Most of my dreams are Doctor Who related, so this will probably be little help, but here goes...
I had a dream the lead singer of Coldplay morphed into a dalek mid-concert and kept on singing. Strange thing is, the Doctor was right next to me, and he was just like "YEAH COLDPLAY!" and Martha was all like "WOOHOO COLDPLAY YAAAAY!!!" God, even the other members of the band were indifferent. Creepy dream.
I also had a dream I was antigravitational. I was trying to board a plane, and when I stepped out of the room, immediatley I was thrown from the ground. I tried to get in the airplane, but it kept getting further and further away until I floated into the sky. Somehow I could breathe in space, and I went up and up and up until I saw a TARDIS. I knocked, and the Doctor let me in, and we talked as if we'd known each other for a long time. He seemed indifferent to the fact that I was floating, and chatted with me as if it were normal. At some point he served me candy, but the candy was bigger on the inside, and when I bit it, the flavor couldn't fit in my mouth. xD
You're at school, right before the bell rings. When it does, and you go downstairs, you see a grocery store of some sort set up inside the hall. You pick out some food, then you see your friend and go to her. Next thing you know, you are being shoved away because apparently "she's fire, you're ice." You and your friend keep trying to make contact, but now the whole school is between you, and everyone is screaming. Neither of you think you have any power at all. Then suddenly, all of the students close to you are frozen, and all the students close to her are ashes. Scared, you run towards each other, yelling "What just happened? What's going on?" Then, when you reach for her hand, some sort of heat wave shocks it and you're blasted back into a wall. Suddenly there's pain, then you wake up.
(This one is long) You're walking through an abandoned alley, no idea who or where you are or what the hell you're doing. Suddenly you look over and see a boy huddling in the corner. When you ask him what's wrong, he responds simply, "I'm dying... I'm dying for good now!" When you ask him what that means, he pulls a necklace out from under his shirt. On it are 12 charms, each with their own number, and a picture of a face. The first through eighth are blurry. The ninth shows a bald guy in a leather jacket. The tenth shows an anime-looking guy in a dark blue suit, that looks like David Tennant. (What?) The eleventh shows a guy with dark hair and a bowtie. The twelth is Matt Bellamy. That's unmistakable. (Hey, he's cool!) Somehow, you understand that these are all the same person, in a different form. "This is my thirteenth form," he says, tucking the necklace back in. "I'm the last of my race. If I die, we- I- will be extinct. And I only have thirteen forms before I die. And I'm about to die. For good." Suddenly his hands begin to glow. He stands up, his eyes teary, and shouts, "I DON'T WANNA GO!" Suddenly he flings his head back, and energy shoots out of his hands. He passes through every form in the pictures, down to the very first, an old guy with a long scarf. Then he turns back into a boy, and collapses onto the ground. The world swirls. Time burns. And slowly, as you wake up, this dystopic world turns into reality...
once I had a dream I was riding through this small town on the head of a triceratops.
Another time I had a dream of my family working at the cake shop on the dock where we worked for this cruise ship company. We started walking tv and on the news there was this survellance video of these people dancing partying in the lower levels of a cruise ship. There was a big bam and the camera shook. A big hole appeared in the side of the boat and all of a sudden all these people start freaking out as water's flooding it. There's this girl who is closest to the screen and I realize water tinted with red is spraying from her back. Then I see tiny red holes appearing on her body and water-blood spraying out.... yeah, wasn't pleasant.
Another time I had a dream about one of my softy toys growing to a huge monster ( it looked like the one from 'all dogs go to heaven two') It grabbed me and I think it wanted to eat me but my sister saved me from it.
One time, I dreamt that Malfoy and I were at this party and my grandmother's house. We were celebrating the greatness of a movie we had just done together. Anyway, he gave me a hug and said he had fun working with me.
I also had a dream about meeting Daniel Radcliffe in the mall. I was younger at the time and I started screaming and jumping up and down. He politely told to be quiet because he didn't want an angry mob of girls running after him.
Can't understand why you'd like to borrow any of these but, go ahead have fun. They're all I can remember at the moment so maybe I'll come back....
Quote: I smiled at the defender as I gulped down some water. We had just finished a self-defense routine, seeing as we would need to do one for our test. We had recorded it, and we had taken pictures of it so we could look at it in regular time and in snapshots. But now that we were done with that, we went to the front to work forms. We decided we would work Chon-Ji on up. I realized I hadn’t turned my camera off, so I went to the back to do so. I didn’t want to waste the battery. But I never got to turn it off. When I was on the mat, walking to the corner, a black figure stepped out and stopped me from going further. Who he was, I don’t know. I then noticed the pistol in his hands. It was loaded and safety was off. I looked at him and how we were both standing, and I realized I wouldn’t be able to disarm him. Meanwhile in the front, the defender noticed I hadn’t spoken or come back yet. That was odd. He rounded the corner and saw it. I looked at the man, and saw his finger edge toward the trigger, I heard the shot. But I wasn’t hit. Because there on the mat laid the defender. He had pushed me. I knelt down and checked for a pulse, breath – anything. But then I realized that the man was still there, messing with the pistol. He looked at me, as I was standing up now, pointed it and fired as I jumped as high as I could. But this time it struck. My right shoulder burned. He shot again, and I felt it land in my side. Then it went black. ~ For but a moment, I lost consciousness. I woke and saw blood. I prayed. I couldn’t move. I pressed my hand over one of my wounds and the other hand onto his. His was more serious. I knew I had to move, find a phone, anything. Then I realized that there were bottles of water and things against the side of the wall. I could only pray that someone from the other class came in. And quick. It stung like hell. I was about to pass out again, it hurt so bad. But I struggled to stay awake. I tried to yell. And I kept yelling. I saw someone outside, so I tried to keep yelling. The person came in. It was one of the teachers who had heard shots. I passed out. ~ The teacher looked at the two students on the mat. He checked pulses and breathing as he quickly dialed 9-1-1. The defender’s breathing was shallow and barely there, his pulse barely detectable. He then checked the girl’s as he spoke to the person on the other end of the phone. The girl’s pulse was barely there, her breathing almost nonexistent. ~ I woke inside of an ambulance, one of my teachers sitting in the corner. I didn’t know where I was at first. “Where… am… I..?” I said slowly and sleepily, closing my eyes. It still stung like hell, and it hurt to talk, but I had to. The paramedic looked at me and then at the teacher. “In an ambulance on the way to the hospital.” I had only one thought on my mind, I absolutely had to ask. “How is he?” It suddenly got quiet.
Sorry about the one I left. I started typing another much more epic dream... then realized I really want to write it as a story myself.
Taking: Walking the corridors of your old school, long since razed to the ground, talking to an old favourite teacher about how "none of this exists, now".
Getting chased through the woods barefoot with your childhood friend.
Leaving: You are running for your life, but you aren't really sure why. You only know that if you stop, you're dead. You hear a voice whisper to you that you're about to die, and you trip. A figure approaches you, sword in hand, and begins to bring the blade down on you. Then you wake up.
For a more angst, sad story:(Its from a presentation we had at school once.)
You are at the fair with a little kid you really care about(little sister, someone you babysit, etc). You are walking through the fair, with the kid's hand in yours. A big crowd starts to gather. You get pushed around, and find the child has been seperated from you. You look around frantically for the child. Suddenly, you hear gunshots. You look around, but can't find the child. You search, fighting against the crowd to try and find him/her., but they keep pushing you back. No matter how hard you try, you can't get to the child, can't find them. You hear more gunshots. (Ending up to you)

(Ending up to you)
Taking! Leaving: You're in a hospital, sorrounded by blank white walls. It is absolutely silent. Suddenly, the door farthest from you swings open, and you get a fleeting glimpse of a young child, perhaps five years old. She's calling your name, and you know you need to get to her, somehow. You run to the door, but the dream changes and you never reach the child.
You're in a big city, not New York or something, just any big city. You see this huge skyscraper rising into the distance and for some reason have this gut instinct that you need to go there. You don't know why. You just need to go there. So you start trying to walk through the streets, but time speeds up around you. You burst into a run, but time is going superfast and days and nights are passing in seconds. You sprint, but time keeps speeding up. You know you won't get there in time for whatever you're going to miss, which you aren't completely sure about. Finally you reach the building, and time returns to normal. Then you here a soft hum of technology being powered up, and the building explodes, and you wake up. --- You wake up one morning and look in the mirror, and realize you're some famous person you know of, preferably a singer of some sort. Somehow this doesn't suprise you or anyone in your family, and you go on with daily business, knowing you're in the school talent show this evening. Time skip- you're at the talent show, walking out onto the stage, ready to do your performance (in my case, singing Supermassive Black Hole), when you see a big hole in the middle of the stage. You peer into the hole, then, like Alice falling into the rabbit hole, you fall in. Down, down, down, until you land in a dark blue maze of some sort. The ground is neither warm nor cold- it simply exists. The world looks like 3D pixels, and you realize that you're in a videogame, though what you aren't sure. Then you hear an ominous wakka-wakka-wakka behind you and realize you're in Pacman, and Pacman wants to eat you! You run away from the pacman for the rest of the dream. Then you trip, and Pacman slows down, rises up, and pounces on its prey- you wake up. --- This dream kinda relies on someone being obsessed with someone else. Very, very obsessed. In the dream, you're in class, sitting in between this person and someone you know they like. They keep passing notes between each other, and you sense they're flirting with each other. Then, later on, it's lunch. You're putting your lunch in your locker, and when you look up, their kissing in the hallways. You slam your locker shut, say something sarcastic ("THAT is not a kiss. THAT is a genetic transfer, isn't it?" Doctor who joke lol) and storm away, fighting back tears, heartbroken.

Hi~ I'm new and working on my first Nano... just wanted to say thanks because this was a great prompt for starting my story as it works so well with my main character and plot. .. so taking it :)
Your dream is about anything it happens to be. But while you're living it, there seems to be a problem with your mouth. Your teeth are loosening. They haven't wiggled like this since you were eight. And, suddenly, they begin to fall out, leaving nothing but gaps and bare gums. You're losing your teeth at an alarming rate, and soon you won't have any at all... except you seem to be losing more teeth than you possibly possess.
The tooth loss dream is one I seem to have with depressing regularity, and I've read that it's quite common.
You're walking through a residential alley in a city. Although your street isn't lit, the lights from the main road are bright blue. The iron door of one of the buildings begins to rattle. You think you hear screaming and walk up to it. Although the door is banging as though difficult to open, it swings wide at your touch and someone runs out. You don't know who it is because you are too focused on the man carrying an axe further behind the door, a cloth sack over his head. You run-you start running through the strangest rooms, rooms from places you've been or places you've seen, and going from one only gets you to another labyrinth of mismatched corridors. Finally you end up on the alley again, and you've hit a dead end. The man comes at you with his axe, the bright blue lights of the city behind him. You don't know why you ran this way, away from the city. You only know that it meant your death.
i'll leave one that i had because my imagination is colorful enough to leave it without running out of ideas.
i find myself working in a restaurant in a mall as a server, the first thing i think is "don't worry a plane is going to crash into the building." unlike most dreams this was actually important. i then go about my business trying to figure out how to act as a server properly because to be honest I've never been one so knowing that it was a lie i asked people to be kind because it was my first day. this continued for a little while until i seated 2 little old women at a four person table, their husbands were still at the car and they would be in soon.
the two old women had started up a conversation and had made their predicament known that they needed to spend no more than what they had in their pockets, and what they had was a monkey-ton of coins. so i spend a relatively large amount of time bending over the table counting change and thinking about a good combination for the four of them. we get the total sorted out and they make a decision on what they want to order, they wanted to pay ahead of time so i brought the money back to the register and checked things out.
on my way back i was staring out into the dining room and to my left was a platform that belonged to some concrete stairs, there were about four or five rows and columns of tables spreading out into the building that was basically a big huge mall with an atrium. the stairs let out at the last row of tables and stopped occupying the ground at about the third. suddenly everything goes black, as if somebody had turned out all the lights and all that was left to see by were some colorful chotskies throwing off light and the full moon everything was outlined with some kind of color and filled in with blackness and shades of grey. this of course made my adrenaline spike and i was just about to say something cliche when it hit.
i didn't know what it was but as the sound started i ducked into the recess left by the stairs as i closed my eyes and waited for the sounds to stop. finally everything was quiet, dead quiet to which was jarring because the place before was alive with the sounds of people getting on with their life. i got out from my hiding hole and i looked to where i was heading, from about two feet in front of me till about 100 feet off into the distance was this massive flaming gash carved into the floor of the mall. i looked around as people were recovering and trying to figure out in their own minds what was happening.
two things happened as i woke up, i remembered saying don't worry a plane is going to crash and i can remember a madness mantra working it's way into my mind "don't scream;everyone will panic. don't scream: everyone will panic. don't scream." i woke up sweating in the dead of winter and couldn't get back to sleep even though i had only been down for less than 6 hours.
Adopt a dream
This was a real dream I had this morning and I wish I could find a way to work it into my story but I just can't so I am giving it away!
It was a vampire themed dream (which is pretty common for me) but the only way to attack these vampires was with laughter. And the only way they could be killed was to be staked with peppermint sticks.
Very demented and funny dream.

Dreaming about every sensory aspect of water.

That's all! :) Hope this helps someone.

Re: Adopt a dream
(This one is long)
You're walking through an abandoned alley, no idea who or where you are or what the hell you're doing.
(What?)
The eleventh shows a guy with dark hair and a bowtie.
The twelth is Matt Bellamy. That's unmistakable. (Hey, he's cool!)
Somehow, you understand that these are all the same person, in a different form. "This is my thirteenth form," he says, tucking the necklace back in. "I'm the last of my race. If I die, we- I- will be extinct. And I only have thirteen forms before I die. And I'm about to die. For good."
Suddenly his hands begin to glow. He stands up, his eyes teary, and shouts, "I DON'T WANNA GO!"
Suddenly he flings his head back, and energy shoots out of his hands. He passes through every form in the pictures, down to the very first, an old guy with a long scarf. Then he turns back into a boy, and collapses onto the ground.
The world swirls. Time burns. And slowly, as you wake up, this dystopic world turns into reality...
(Sorry, I'm a Doctor Who fan)
Re: Adopt a dream
Sorry about bad writing. Dinner is now so I was going superfast.
Re: Adopt a dream
once I had a dream I was riding through this small town on the head of a triceratops.
Re: Adopt a dream
USE IF YOU WISH!
I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!
I'VE HAD IT NEARLY A YEAR STRAIGHT.
Re: Adopt a dream
Sorry about the one I left. I started typing another much more epic dream... then realized I really want to write it as a story myself.
Taking:
Walking the corridors of your old school, long since razed to the ground, talking to an old favourite teacher about how "none of this exists, now".
Getting chased through the woods barefoot with your childhood friend.
Leaving:
You are running for your life, but you aren't really sure why. You only know that if you stop, you're dead. You hear a voice whisper to you that you're about to die, and you trip. A figure approaches you, sword in hand, and begins to bring the blade down on you.
Then you wake up.
Re: Adopt a dream
I love it so much!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Totally taking
Re: Adopt a dream
(Ending up to you)
Re: Adopt a dream
Re: Adopt a dream
---
You wake up one morning and look in the mirror, and realize you're some famous person you know of, preferably a singer of some sort.
---
This dream kinda relies on someone being obsessed with someone else.
Re: Adopt a dream
Hi~ I'm new and working on my first Nano... just wanted to say thanks because this was a great prompt for starting my story as it works so well with my main character and plot. .. so taking it :)
Re: Adopt a dream
Your dream is about anything it happens to be. But while you're living it, there seems to be a problem with your mouth. Your teeth are loosening. They haven't wiggled like this since you were eight. And, suddenly, they begin to fall out, leaving nothing but gaps and bare gums. You're losing your teeth at an alarming rate, and soon you won't have any at all... except you seem to be losing more teeth than you possibly possess.
The tooth loss dream is one I seem to have with depressing regularity, and I've read that it's quite common.
Re: Adopt a dream
Based off a dream I've had
Re: Adopt a dream
i'll leave one that i had because my imagination is colorful enough to leave it without running out of ideas.
i find myself working in a restaurant in a mall as a server, the first thing i think is "don't worry a plane is going to crash into the building." unlike most dreams this was actually important. i then go about my business trying to figure out how to act as a server properly because to be honest I've never been one so knowing that it was a lie i asked people to be kind because it was my first day. this continued for a little while until i seated 2 little old women at a four person table, their husbands were still at the car and they would be in soon.
the two old women had started up a conversation and had made their predicament known that they needed to spend no more than what they had in their pockets, and what they had was a monkey-ton of coins. so i spend a relatively large amount of time bending over the table counting change and thinking about a good combination for the four of them. we get the total sorted out and they make a decision on what they want to order, they wanted to pay ahead of time so i brought the money back to the register and checked things out.
on my way back i was staring out into the dining room and to my left was a platform that belonged to some concrete stairs, there were about four or five rows and columns of tables spreading out into the building that was basically a big huge mall with an atrium. the stairs let out at the last row of tables and stopped occupying the ground at about the third. suddenly everything goes black, as if somebody had turned out all the lights and all that was left to see by were some colorful chotskies throwing off light and the full moon everything was outlined with some kind of color and filled in with blackness and shades of grey. this of course made my adrenaline spike and i was just about to say something cliche when it hit.
i didn't know what it was but as the sound started i ducked into the recess left by the stairs as i closed my eyes and waited for the sounds to stop. finally everything was quiet, dead quiet to which was jarring because the place before was alive with the sounds of people getting on with their life. i got out from my hiding hole and i looked to where i was heading, from about two feet in front of me till about 100 feet off into the distance was this massive flaming gash carved into the floor of the mall. i looked around as people were recovering and trying to figure out in their own minds what was happening.
two things happened as i woke up, i remembered saying don't worry a plane is going to crash and i can remember a madness mantra working it's way into my mind "don't scream;everyone will panic. don't scream: everyone will panic. don't scream." i woke up sweating in the dead of winter and couldn't get back to sleep even though i had only been down for less than 6 hours.
