Welcome to the Adoption Society!

One of the most popular features of the NaNoWriMo forums are the adoptable threads. Participants will post superfluous ideas, plot twists, awesome titles they can't use, or characters they've thought up but don't fit in their novels.

This year, we've given these threads their very own forum! We do have a few guidelines for posting that we ask you to use to that will help keep down the chaos and help people find just the right fit for their stories!

1) Use a descriptive title. "Adopt a Title" tells people exactly what they can find in this thread. "Here, take this" does not... so stick with the first!

2) If the adoptables are genre specific, tag your thread with a genre tag. For example:

[Fantasy] Adopt a Magic Item

3) Please search first. Look for existing threads before creating new ones. Duplicate threads will be closed and referred back to the original.

Threads that over 500 comments long will be closed. Feel free to start continuations when threads hit 500 comments. (Just try to remember to link back to the original thread for reference purposes!)

There's no need to ask someone to create an adoptable thread... just go ahead and create it if it doesn't already exist! Please search first,or check the Adoptables list , however, as the odds are good someone else has had the same idea! Duplicate threads will be closed.

Please note that ALL adoptables posted here are considered to be given for free, no strings attached, to be used as those who adopt them see fit. Once you post, you are accepting that others may use and abuse your idea as they see fit.

Any number of people may adopt a single idea, and no one who posts here may determine how their adoptable ideas may be used. Once offered, they are considered public domain! If you do not agree to these terms, please do not post your ideas here to be shared.

These threads are always so much fun! I get a lot of inspiration for my flashfiction works in here :)

I haven't ever taken advantage of the adopt a plot before, but I have a feeling I will be this year! Thanks for the thread!

I'm guessing it's too late to develop this, but it would be awesome if there was a way to randomly get a post from the adoption threads rather than read through all the pages.

Mm, is public domain means also free to use the ideas, turn it into novel, and sell the novel? I'm asking because I don't know much about copyright, so it will be more safe for me to ask about it. :)

Cool! I has random characters and plots and crap that are never going to fit into a novel. I can put it here and you ppl can use it because I can't. yay!!!

Really? I prefer reading or bickering with my younger brother when he is available. Any games on internet you would recomend?
