[Writing Buddies] Adopt Your NaNoWriMo Angel!

If you think that's an effective image, try adopting a NaNoWriMo Angel and see how desperate you are to avoid hurting him or her then!

My NaNoWriMo Angel for this year is called Dave. He's a member of the celestial choir and he's addicted to chocolate (He doesn't exactly have to worry about calories where he's from, you see) and his halo hangs a little crooked above his neat brown curls. He can't exactly help that, though; he fell on his head once when he was but an Angel In Training and then thing just hasn't been straight ever since. His specialty is humour, which perhaps adds to his habit of making me write NaNoisms that I then can't delete for his sake.

I would probably feel a little bad if my careless deletion of a sentence in my novel this year caused him to fall to a horrible, messy, painful death. Wouldn't you?

I'm going to put Samuel up for adoption. He's blond, loves flying about on those wings (Don't you dare delete a sentence and take them away!) and he has trouble periodically with emotional scenes... he gets a little involved. Otherwise, he's fantastic. Any takers?

My book is about angels, and to be honest, I don't mind hurting most of them.

So I'm not sure that this method will be effective for my purposes...

There was supposed to be a major angel character in my plot before I changed my novel, so let's use him/her/it!

Zephiel is a novice angel who's clumsy but good-natured, a little forgettable, extremely kindhearted (yes, even for an angel) and not above defying some law of the universe to make sure his/her/its charge gets safely to heaven, even if they're a horrible person. He/she/it is resplendent with androgynous beauty, has wide round eyes that shine with divine fire, and is terrifying and wonderful to humans even though he/she/it is a little pathetic by angel standards.

And poor Zeffie was supposed to get banished from heaven and put in the shape of a rapier, so this year I'll do my best not to delete a sentence and repeat that horrible fate.

My plot used to have an 'angel of death', where her role was to literally send someone to their death. In my story, each person had such an angel. I don't mind using my main character's angel, because I actually find myself liking the angel over my main character. Which is kind of mean, I know.

Anyway, her name was Cassidy. You know how angels are normally beautiful and all that sort? Cassidy was pretty normal, or as normal as an angel of death could be. Basically, her role was to take away the life of someone while hurting as little people as possible.

She was supposed to be taught a lesson for not killing the main character (who was her best friend) by getting other angels to kill the people around her 'owner' (the main character), so the main character would be in agony. In the end, she gave her human heart to the main character after almost killing her because she couldn't bear to do it herself. I'll try not to make her repeat that fate.

...I find it sad that I refer to her in the past tense.

Porter Milo:
Looks about seven years old (but being an angel he doesn't really have an age) slightly shaggy, wavy brown hair and crystal clear green eyes. A few scattered freckles across his nose gives the air of mischief. He loves showing off with loop-de-loops and flying cartwheels. Porter often swoops down to earth just to play with people's scarves in the winter months and flip over beach towels so sunbathers end up laying on the sandy side.
I would be simply heartbroken if my own foolish backspacing caused Porter Milo to loose his long fluffy wings.

Looks: Brown hair, coffee-coloured skin, amazing brown eyes. Her halo is golden, and her robes are a slightly muddled white. About five foot tall, and looks to be about 14 or 15.
Loves: Caffine, books, music, romance, and flying close to the earth (so sometimes her robes turn brown or green, depending if it's grassy or muddy where she is flying)
Dislikes: Falling. She fell alot in basic Angel training. She also dislikes people getting hurt, along with kittens getting electroshocked. (Anyone using Google Chrome's add on, StayFocusd, knows what I'm talking about.)
Likes: Glee, Harry Potter, and chocolate.
She would prefer to be adopted to a writer who writes Romance fiction.

Maybe it'll use from Angels from my past NaNo.

There's a pair named Mika and Gabby, created from the essences of Gabriel and Michael. They're pretty new to Earth and pretty damn excited about everything. They don't quite understand human emotions or pain yet, and their emotions are set on "hyper" and "ecstatic" 24/7. Both have horrible fashion sense and enjoy movies, music, and food a bit too much. Mika appears male, with long curly blonde hair, pale freckled skin, and green eyes. He loves Cosby sweaters, bright colored capris, and candy necklaces. Gabby looks female with a purple mohawk, dark eyes, and dark skin. She likes shirts with very punny phrases, high socks, and floral shorts.

I wouldn't want to see these two lovelies plummet to the ground. They deal with enough already.

My NaNo angel...I need to figure him out. But he's definitely masculine...

*to the angel* Ah! I remember you now -- I've had you since I was ten, haven't I? You came out of my favorite Silmarillion character and have been around ever since, haven't you?

Well, his name is...he's never told me his name -- and apparently still won't -- and he's only got one hand. He lost the other in the Angelic Civil War. He's half-way to fallen, and a warrior to the core. But he still has his wings, however dirty and ragged they are. And he's a redhead with sharp features and brandy eyes. I've kind of been a little in love with him; whenever I daydream about magical boyfriends, they've always been basically him.

But he also likes coffee (which I don't understand) and poetry (which I totally do). Does anyone happen to know his name?

Actually, my MCs have angels.
MMC's angel: Name is Daniel, extremely good-looking (bit Italian), dresses exclusively in hideously expense tailored suits and is pretty narcissistic. He used to be a banker's son in the 1930s, but got involved in the Chicago underworld and was murdered by one of his many enemies. He's made my MMC's guardian angel to do penance. On the whole Daniel is fine with that, though my MMC has a knack for getting himself hurt so he is giving Daniel a run for his money.

FMC's angel: She's called Sara, fairly plain, blonde, bit naive. She used to be a secretary in a small town in 1920's mid-USA, and managed to get herself run over and killed by one of the only two cars in the town, something which rankles still. No penance to be done, Sara just chose my FMC because she thought my FMC was a cute baby (Sara has a huge crush on any baby with blue eyes).

MCs' oldest daughter: This angel is called Emily, and she's the FMC's oldest daughter actually (Emily died as a child). Don't know much about her.

MCs' youngest daughter: She has a little boy ghost instead of an angel, but since the little girl is singularly quiet about him, that's all I know. Let's see whether she's prepared to share as NaNo continues.

I actually had an imaginary friend who was an angel when I was little. I'll use her!

Her name's Twinkle (don't look at me like that I was two when I named her!) And her wings actually look more like fairy wings then normal angel wings but she's definitely an angel. Her hair is kind of a dark golden blond that's slightly wavy. She has greenish blue eyes and a beautiful smile.
She looks about six-years-old (which was a 'big kid' for me then xD) and loves story telling almost as much as me!
I am DEFINITELY not going to let one of my best friends loos her wings!

I'm going to twist the angel idea. I have a teddy bear that will now watch me as I type. When I lose motivation I will imagine a horrible scene from my childhood in which I was pressured into ripping his head off.

I'm a sick woman, but aren't we all?

Looks: Brown hair, matching eyes. Sliver halo with dents. Wears jeans and a band tee shirt.
Wings: around twenty feet long, brown with little bits of red.
Likes: Stories, flight, earth music, stories with strong female leads, and singing.
Dislikes: Crashing, stories with female leads that do nothing/are a hindrance, being alone.

Hey, guys, I'm new to this! Do you have an angel for me to adopt?? I'd feel so much guiltier to kill an angel that I didn't create than to kill my own fidgement of imagination! (and if you have ANY other tips I would very much appreciate it)

My nano angel is a androgynous thing that goes by Tommy. S/he'll be keeping me on track when it comes to forcing myself not to be critical. Tommy is a narrow little thing, with big owlish wings and grey eyes that seem to both know everything and be curious at the same time. Honestly, s/he may be just as happy earthbound as they are flying, but I will try super hard not to edit as I go!

My nano angel is based on a character from a trilogy that I will write 'someday'

Her nickname is Twitch because she's so damn fidgety. She's always happy to help out and when she isn't flapping around on periodically redyed multicolored wings, she's using then to balance while she skates on inlines across the clouds (or in the back of my head while I procrastinate. She was a techy in her past life and constantly reminds me that the computer remembers my spelling mistakes for me so I can fix them LATER.

Ophelia the cat Angel (based on a real life ball of fur). Ophelia is grey with lovely white wings that she grooms while curled up, preferably on top of something you are working on. Though she always lands on her feet, she wont forgive you if you make her fall and will spend the rest of the month sitting outside your door meowing as loudly as she can. Then she will stay until her wings heal and she can fly again.

Since I've taken Ophelia, I'll leave one to be adopted to.

His name is Peter, and he's a small, but slightly pudgy eight year old with bright blonde hair was gray eyes. His skin is pale and his wings are a light powdery blue. He likes to laugh and have fun and to play around with people, but is very easily emotionally hurt and will ignore you for days on end if you hurt him like that.
