[Fantasy] Adopt a Race

Just felt I should recreate this, since Adopt a Sci-Fi race already has been, and I didn't see it created already.

A race of panther-like people, humanoid but clearly animal nonetheless. They are the creation of an evil wizard, but escaped him to create their own society. They look human for the most part, with a head with human face, arms, legs, and bodies, but that's where the similarities end. Their feet are panther paws; Their fingernails strong and sharpened to a point. Their teeth are human, but with sharp fangs that are clearly visible when they give you a friendly smile. They have dark, wild hair that needs little washing, either pointed or panther ears that are often pierced, and long tails that help them balance on the tops of buildings or tree branches, depending on where they are. They have fur in various unusual places (forearms, calves, etc), and, if these guys are in an urban fantasy novel, they love to dye this fur unusual colors to make them stand out even more. They are a bright, energetic race, cheerful and clever, but at the same time, solitary. They tend to get protective over their turf, and if you're a fellow panther-type, you need to have a good reason to invade another panther's space. In an urban fantasy novel, they've probably mostly gotten over this, though they're still a bit edgy about other people in their areas. They are VERY good with machinery and mechanics, and can create the most basic of machines with little trouble. Their homes are outfitted with levers and wheels and all sorts of other things they built. They tend towards promiscuity, but at the same time, are always looking for their soul mate, which is a real and palatable person they can sense somewhere in the world. They have more than one gender physically, but still identify themselves as male or female despite this. They have little shared opinions about sexual differences, partially because they tend to stay away from each other, and partially because of their unique biology, if that makes sense.

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

Horror/Wonders/Jokers - a race of spirit-beings with power to manipulate reality. Horrors are twisted and hideous things, all slime, tentacles and such, creating fear and chaos wherever they go for inscrutable reasons - they rarely if ever communicate with mortals, and it's up for debate whether they have conscious thoughts at all. Wonders are the same, only they are feathery, radiant creatures, inspiring hope and leaving a wake of general goodness behind them. While Wonders are regarded as more social and communicative, it's also possible that they're just as inscrutable as Horrors and that the aura around Wonders tends to make people hear what they'd like such a being to say. Jokers are the most social of all, interacting frequently with mortal races, but chiefly to create mischief and pranks of various levels of harmlessness.
They are very different, but they are not different races, nor are they differing factions of the same. Each - Horror, Wonder, Joker - is a distinct stage in the life cycle of the same species, reflecting how the outlook of this species changes as it grows older and matures. As for which stage follows which - whether the most mature, enlightened beings of your cosmos are Horrors, Wonders, or Jokers - I leave for the adoptive writer to decide. I never could decide myself.

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

Tattletales. At the moment of their inception, these creatures are given a story to tell. They speak from birth; they speak in their sleep; they cannot stop, as if their story ever reaches an end, so do they. They are constant, perfect orators, capable only of shaping or altering their continual story in order to effect something like communications; they are solitary, if rarely alone, finding community in nothing but their own continual monologue. It is said that, as creatures of magic, the stories they tell are perfectly true, and that my altering the story, they alter the reality. They look human, but with an exaggerated mouth and neck - large, active, and in the case of the neck, extendable. If they are killed before they can complete their story, cataclysm occurs.

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

I'm going to be adopting out another race I offered last year. I think only one person took them then, but you still might want to change a few details:

They're called the Ciphenu. Once they were mortal, but then, they died before accomplishing the task they were given at birth. Now they have been revived by the gods to complete their task, so they can finally rest. They cannot eat, for their bodies are formed from the very energy of the gods. They cannot sleep, for they are already dead. They can have sex, but they tend to fade away afterwards and have to wait to reform, and besides, when you've been tasked by the gods to do something, who has time for sex? They can't really die either, with the whole 'already dead' thing - They can be killed in the most gruesome way you can imagine, and they'll simply reform after a few hours or days at the most. They look as they did in life, but with some differences depending on which god has tasked them. Oftentimes, they'll have the eye color their god-Patron has. They are also often scarred brutally with the wounds they had when they died, no matter if it was from plague, war, or execution. As such, they aren't always pretty to look at. This combined with their general Air of Creepy makes most people keep a respectful distance, but if you can get past their horrifying appearance and unnatural air, you will find them to be the best teachers you will ever have, especially on spiritual matters, and history has proven them to be sound friends and allies, no matter what they were raised from the dead to do. They are the stuff of legends, if only because they're so damn rare - There are only ever 13 at any given time. The ultimate reward for completing their destiny? A happy life with the gods in their domain, where they will stay with them for eternity... Or until the time calls upon them to be needed once more...

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

I'm not sure if this is the right place for these, or if anyone will like them, but anyway!

I don't have a good name for them, sorry. Basically they're reapers, but horses. Whenever someone's time is up, the horses appear outside their house, and won't leave until said person gets up on their back. Then they ride away. So the horses are the Gods' way of calling people home (that sounded more poetic in my head).
They are a light grey colour, with grey eyes, and a sort of ghostish feeling about them. They're not aggressive, but they won't let anyone except for the person they've come for get near them. Obviously they can't be killed or chased away. They will simply wait outside the house; or if the person leave the house follow them around, until they accept death and comes with them.

Star Kith:

Basically they're humanoids when first spawned from their mother star's core, then slowly over eons develop special shapes, traits, and abilities. All are born faceless, a trait which they usually retain throughout their near-immortal lifetimes. Most abilities and traits depend on what star they were born from. Most grow tentacles and oddly placed eyes (not on the face). The have no technical gender but many distinguish themselves as feminine or masculine. Can reproduce with humans, though no physical contact is needed, only their presence. Their children are never Star Kith.

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

Ehehehe..

The Ashnavar were a wily race of fox-like humanoids, whom were widely known for their abilities with plans, designs, strategies, and all manner of intellectual activities. Eventually, they were persuaded by the Dalynther to join the Grimnach alliance alongside themselves and the humans.

The Illani were similar in form to the Earth jaguar, known for their swiftness and ability as messengers and other things requiring speed and agility. They formed a decently-sized empire amongst the Hatlak cluster, guarding it fiercely and destroying any who dared enter their territory.

The Volenk have always been a particularly proud society, being quite similar to tigers. They are the head of the Basna League, and their warriors are by far part of the premier military organisation in the galaxy, often hiring themselves out to warring nations as mercenaries, or forming bands of raiders and marauders.

The Elden are a race of deceivingly delicate elf-like creatures, most of them standing at six feet in height, and being rather slim. They somewhat resemble humans, though their eyes are slightly cat-like, they have pointed ears, and their features are more angular. They have a single empire, built up in the Far Cluster, beyond the normal sight of most other nations. It is, in fact, rare to see one of the Elden outside of their homeland.

The Orcs are, as the Volenk, proud and warlike. They are, unfortunately, not as intelligent as they think they are, relying on crude ships and other technology to allow them into space. They normally scavenge the wreckage of other race’s ships and weapons, copying off of them or sometimes just using them in general. They are hunch-backed, massive and muscular, with dark green skin – the darker, the stronger and older – similar to the Goblin slaves that they own, though many of those Goblins have other skin tones – yellow, orange, red, green, and colours of that range. Goblins are much smaller and weaker than Orcs, but are normally smarter and swifter than the lumbering beasts are as well.

The Kazura are even more reclusive than the Elden, even though they have a physical similarity to Humankind as they do. They resemble the ancient myths of Dwarves, being rather short and stout, burly and muscular, normally with large beards. They are excellent weaponsmiths, constructing many of the weapons that the various nations use, selling them to whoever happens to have the most money with which to buy them. They are generally short-tempered, particularly when their sacred lands are desecrated or trespassed on. In times such as this, they bring out their own weapons, even more advanced than what they sell to others, and destroy such invaders.

The Saleeth are a nigh-mystery to all who have met them. They are a seeming mix between many types of reptilian creatures, with scales, head-fins, claws, and other such traits. They are completely unlike in personality to most of the warm-blooded creatures in the galaxy, being possessed of a cold-hearted logic that makes them insusceptible to seemingly any kind of emotion whatsoever. This tends to make them excellent leaders if properly advised, not worrying about emotional concerns such as the lives of their soldiers, or even their own lives. Most Saleeth are loners, wandering mercenaries which hire themselves out for almost their entire lives, though some small enclaves and “tribes”, per say, have been formed throughout many of the known times.

The Mauva have had a common reputation for being quite cowardly. They physically resemble hunch-backed, humanoid rats or mice, normally quite short, and with little musculature to speak of. They are, however, agile and quick-witted, enabling them to be better thieves and such professions. Most of them are part of the Zanshiri Collective, though others are found throughout the nations of the galaxy.

Naiesha are as fierce as their seemingly badger-ancestors, which seem to be whom they are descended from given their appearance, quite fierce when provoked and extremely territorial. They are almost all, as a whole, part of the Basna League, having allied themselves with the emotionally similar Volenk for greater strength of arms.

Kaisen are dangerous creatures, being descended from lynx-like creatures, so the legends say. They are adept at hiding in plain sight, their sleek coats of fur able to change colour with their environment similar to that of a chameleon’s scales. Because of this, they are often employed as spies and infiltrators, the same as so many of the Mauva. Just like the Mauva, almost all of them are part of the Zanshiri Collective, and the few that aren’t are merely vagabond wanderers.

The Esquali are almost as perplexing as the Saleeth, being descended from seemingly no obvious creature known to Man. They are almost always tall, over eight feet normally, extremely thin so that they seem barely to be but a single layer of muscle and skin over their bones, but their appearances are quite deceiving given their agility and ferocious strength. They also possess hooves and jackal-like heads with spiny appendages which protrude from them that almost resemble dreadlocks on a human. They are the muscle of the Zanshiri Collective, working nearly alone as the warriors within its society. Obviously, with a race that carries such wanderlust, there are bound to be mercenaries of this race.

Phelgon are one of the most common races encountered in the galaxy. They are wolf-like, with coarse fur covering their entire bodies, paws, wolf-heads, and similar such traits. They are normally oddly cheerful, despite the predicaments that they normally manage to land themselves in, they being quite the mischief-makers. They are yet another element of the Grimnach Alliance, though they have formed their own sub-empire inside the Alliance’s borders and going through much of their business as though the rest of the galaxy did not exist.

And, of course, the Sathi are yet another grimly warlike race. They are descendents from bulls, even the females having horns, being large and muscular, their bodies seemingly built for combat. Their warriors are even stronger than the Volenk soldiers, though not nearly as numerous out in the wider galaxy. They are well known for their overly-long memory of slights and insults, often avenging them years later in bloody wars against the harasser. They have little sense of humour, quite grim even in the art of battle. They have formed several nations and empires across the galaxy, most of them situated around the Nalath Cluster, where they often war with each other as much as with other races.

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

I found this guys recently and decided to allow them to fly free since it doesn't look like their novel will be worked on soon.

A race that lives pretty much anywhere, spread across the world. They are nomads, living in family groups that travel the world in their airships. They resemble normal humans except for the tribe tattoos on the back of their hands. They usually have very long contained intricate hairstyles. Darker skin and hair.
They have no knowledge of their original homeland, but their legends tell of the Great Flight, when they crossed the Endless Sea to land in the country they are in now. They were the most technologically advanced of the species in the areas, including the people. This species accepted the humans, and the humans accepted them and value the speed of their airships for trading between cities.

They worship a god called Tsh, who created them as to have company in the skies. Tsh was doomed to roam the skies forever for some reason I never figured out and so taught humans how to build airships. Over time, the humans he taught to create airships evolved into their own race. Tsh is god of air and weather, and often appears in the form of a great white bird. For that reason, seeing a big white bird is considered a good omen. Their religion also includes ancestor worship. At their coming of age ceremony (15 years old) the youth has to spend a day and a night alone in the cliffs at the very top of a mountain. If they survive (beasts haunt the mountain and its very cold. But most survive) they are brought back to their family's ship for a celebration and receive their clan tattoo. When someone dies they are laid to rest in caves in a mountain, usually the same mountain that the vigil takes place in.

The society is matriarchal, with woman captaining the ships. Each clan usually has ten to fifteen ships, each containing an entire family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc.). When someone marries the man joins the woman's ship. Most members of this race have an inborn sense of direction and can accurately predict weather. It isn't uncommon for mages to be born, and they usually specialize in weather magic. They are trading society, using their ships to transport goods. Most others outside their species don't like them, but tolerate them. They are a secretive and tightly knit race. Marrying outside the race is forbidden. They are even tempered and ruled by a council that meets twice yearly at the festivals the race holds at midwinter and the summer solstice. The festivals are a sight to see as all the ships create a floating platform in the sky.

Do let me know what happens to them yes? Thanks :)

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

Species Human – Simple, plain humans. What more is there to say?
Society and Organisation – In the world of Malagari, humans have a tendency to be normally civilised, having set up many countries and nations across the lands. There is no basic stereotype for the human kind – being unpredictable, some are good, some are neutral, and some are just plain evil. There is plenty of variety in their species here, and both males and females can do about the same. Human colonies are found in just about any terrain, and so thereby their warriors can be, depending on their region, skilled in almost any form of weapon or armour.

Species Dalynther – A race of draconian humanoids, bipedal creatures with many of the characteristics of a dragon – scales, wings, snouts, tails, albeit they have hair as well. They are normally quite large, with the average height for adult males being about seven or eight feet and the weight two to three hundred pounds, whilst the norm for females is around six and a half, weighing around two to two hundred and fifty pounds.
Society and Organisation – Many Dalynther are violently protective of their territory and also aggressive in general and go on to become warriors. Obviously, this is not the case for all, as some others use diplomacy, walking the roads to become merchants or nobles or ambassadors. They have a society which is commonly tribal, with only a few rare cases of nations or empires to be found. They are commonly wary of outsiders, particularly those that are not related to themselves. Despite their way of life, they are in no way stupid, and they are able to adapt to many different situations. Males and females both have about the same opportunities, depending on which tribe they belong to. Normally, they live in mountains or valleys, and so favour heavier types of armour and two-handed weapons or polearms, though many tribes do not have access to the materials for but a few of these, and so use them only in open war, using lightweight leathers and axes for raiding and hunting.
Subspecies Drakonid – These creatures, whilst resembling them physically, are only distantly related to the Dalynther. They look almost exactly the same, although they are wingless, they are normally smaller, and have much longer tails, tails that are almost as long as they are tall. Despite this, they are stealthy and graceful, always careful to keep their tails out of the way.
Society and Organisation – Drakonids are almost always part of a Dalynther society, with only one report – and a not-quite reliable one – of an all-Drakonid tribe to be found, and certainly no empires, used in more peaceful roles than warriors, such things as messengers, thieves, ambassadors, spies, merchants, , almost any sort of such position that requires stealth and agility more than physical strength, thereby allowing both genders to have more equal opportunities, and as such the most common weapons used by Drakonids are daggers and ranged weapons.
Subspecies Hyeli – Known as the Feathered Dragons, Hyeli are similar to Dalynther, though, of course, they are feathered. They have the typical wings, and beneath their (normally) brightly coloured plumage, they have scales. They are relatively small, standing at about five feet in height.
Society and Organisation – Hyeli are strange creatures, with very few tribes, scattered across the entirety of the world – they are, however, most commonly found in the forgotten jungles of Ulis.
Subspecies Hyela – Hyela are, as Hyeli, quite similar to Dalynther. However, instead of sporting feathers, they possess a thick coat of fur over their scales. Apart from that, they are almost exactly the same as the Hyeli.
Society and Organisation – Hyela are extremely rare to find – there are naught but a handful scattered throughout the entirety of the world, unlike so many others. Thereby, they both treat others and are treated with caution.

Species Phelgon – A brutal race of wolf-like creatures, again bipedal like the Dalynther, the Phelgon have the fur, snouts, ears, and canine characteristics of their look-alikes. They are of about average size, with both males and females being about six feet tall and two hundred pounds. They are both agile and strong, though the latter is normally present only in a wiry way, as they often happen to be slender.
Society and Organisation – The Phelgon also have a tribalistic society, with cities and such even rarer than they are in the Dalynther. They are uncouth, uncivilised, and occasionally even feral. Even so, they have a crude wit that they put to use insulting others, often landing them in trouble. Packs of Phelgon are viciously territorial, and many bands of unsuspecting adventurers have gone missing in the woods where they dwell. In almost all of the tribes, males take precedence, with the females commonly treated as inferiors, useful only for breeding. Since they usually occupy woods and other secluded areas, they favour lightweight weapons and armour over heavier equipment.
Subspecies Mogram – This is a rarely-seen descendent of the Phelgon, more closely resembling a Husky than a true wolf, with thicker coats and such. They tend to be slightly larger than Phelgon, stronger, and ever-so-slightly less graceful.
Society and Organisation – They are rare, hardly ever forming tribes, and there have been no documented cases of cities or nations made up of Mogrami. Even so, they are more civilised than their ancestral cousins, and thereby are more commonly seen in cities – in fact, that is almost the only place where one can find them, since their odd love of cleanliness makes them wary of the forests of the world. Their females are treated more decently than they are in the tribes of the Phelgon themselves, and so they have almost equal rights. The Mogram are common users of chainmail and other mid-weight armour, and have developed a love of the “newfangled” blackpowder weapons, such as handguns, arquebuses, “gonnes”, and cannons, and they are often hired as mercenaries solely for the purpose of operating such weapons.
Subspecies Aranii – Even rarer than the Mograms, the Aranii are hardly ever seen outside of their own lands. As with the afore mentioned Mograms, they are distantly related to the Phelgon, though generations of genetic mutation have turned them into creatures more commonly resembling the real-life animal known as the German Shepard. They are relatively smaller than most of the races, averaging at about five feet tall, perhaps a hundred and fifty pounds in weight.
Society and Organisation – The Aranii are a reclusive species, staying far away from any potential enemies – or, possibly, allies, living on the islands of Tanaris, off the coast of the broken Empire. Females dominate their culture, with the males taking the role of servants and slaves. They rarely feel the need to fight, and as such are rarely trained with the use of weapons and armour – they do, however, produce a large number of magi, who can easily turn their studies to those of warfare if ever necessary.

Species Ashnavar – A race of wily fox-like humanoids, Ashnavar are physically small and weak, but they are highly intelligent and renowned for their ability to understand almost anything. Naturally, this makes them great diplomats, merchants, linguists, translators, and, in fact, mages. They have a variety of colours, as well as their typical fox-like faces, tails, fur, and paws. They have a natural caution that makes them good advisors in matters economic, diplomatic, and militaristic.
Society and Organisation – The Ashnavar have no single nation, and very few tribes, most of the population being scattered about the world in cities and towns, throughout nations. They are a very loose-knit group, not particularly close to their kin, normally quite independent. Even so, many examples have been found to foster good cheer towards those that they consider their friends. Ashnavar, both male and female, are, unfortunately, poor physical specimens, being small and scrawny compared to, say, the Orcs. Even so, due to their intellect, they make excellent mages, though their warriorfolk are generally poor when compared to those of other races.

Species Illani – These dangerous creatures, known as the Illani, are the personification of grace. They are swift of foot, as well as agile in motion. Slender, yet highly muscular, the Illani physically resemble jaguars, and have many other characteristics similar to them.
Society and Organisation – Illani are cautious about other species, yet are known to occasionally form tribes with individuals of other races that are willing to join them. There is a minor nation patched together from many of these tribes lurking off in the south-western area of Kahgha, a small island, part of the Western Chain. Other than this area, Illani are few and far in between, and are employed to the best of their abilities where they are. Given the fact that their main population operates on an island, they favour lighter equipment – studded leathers, scimitars, cutlasses, and numerous naval weapons.

Species Volenk – The Volenk are a race of tiger-like beings, of quite ill temper. They are massive brutes, beastly monstrosities standing almost eight feet tall and weighing hundreds of pounds. They are ferocious, able to call great rages upon themselves in times of need.
Society and Organisation – The Volenk possess a very brutal and violent society, where one’s worth is proven by his or her number of kills or deeds, as well as their strength of arms. Due to brutal tribal initiation rituals, very few of these creatures make it to full maturity, most of them dying off in the trials of adulthood. Because of this culling of the weak, Volenk are rare, but have been occasionally seen to form corps and regiments dedicated solely to the purpose of raiding, looting, and pillaging, which are known to be the terror of small hamlets and villages across the lands. These marauders quite love to wield axes, given their brutal affect on unarmoured noncombatants.

Species Elden – Elden are fey-like humanoids, commonly referred to as elves. They are normally quite tall but thin, even scrawny sometimes. They physically resemble humans, though their pointed ears and angular features differ from their look-alikes. They are often fair-skinned, with their predominant hair colours being blonde or black, with the rarer browns and reds found only in some families. In addition, eyes of blue and green are most common, though others may sometimes be discovered in an Elden. Unless they are slain by others, Elden almost always live for hundreds of years – in fact, there are several cases of those living to be over a thousand. However, because of this, they take longer to mature, and so in many circles of Elden society, one is not considered an adult until they reach the age of a hundred.
Society and Organisation – Elden are civilised, but reclusive. They dwell almost exclusively in their massive cities among the quiet lands of Illoris. Due to their isolation, they have taken the status of legends amongst many of the younger races. But rarely does an Elden trade ship dock in one of the ports of another nation, and when they do they carry many exotic goods, crafted to perfection by ancient Elden merchants. The Elden favour scale mail and spears on the few occasions where they do go to fight others, or to stave off pirates and raiders.

Species Kazura – As with the Elden, Kazura look much like humans, though in a different sense. They are much shorter and stouter than said humans, often with massive, flowing beards. They are commonly known as dwarves by many races due to their physical appearance. They are muscular, much stronger than their height would suggest, and their skin is normally a tanned colour, despite many of them living underground most of their lives.
Society and Organisation – Nearly as isolated as the Elden, Kazura tend to live in massive cities carved into caves below the ground. Because of this, they tend to come across many different minerals, thereby making excellent smiths and miners. They also make good engineers, figuring out new ways to experiment with the resources they have available to them. Due to their gruffness and short tempers, unfortunately, they are rarely able to actually gain money from these experiments, since they cannot put up with many other races long enough to trade with them. Another thing that can be blamed on their temper is their eagerness for battle. They have a tendency to never forget slights or insults, and have even waged several wars over misunderstandings. When preparing for conflict, they don massive suits of blackened full plate amour and ready their cannons and mortars with which to destroy their enemies.
Subspecies Hin – The Hin, commonly known as “Halflings” or just “Halfers”, are small, pudgy little humanoids, standing at about half the size of humans, and looking quite like them. They are quite often extremely agile, despite their chubby appearance.
Society and Organisation – Halflings are almost always tightly organised in villages of their own kin, most often on the surface of Kazurian lands. They are generally untrusting of strangers and non-Halflings. They do not tend to fight, but when they do, they favour bows and light armour over anything else.
Subspecies Gnome – Gnomes appear to be a mixture between both Hin and Kazura, a strange combination indeed. They stand at about four feet high, have a medium build, and normally have large noses. They are quite energetic, being renowned for their ability to spit out words faster than any other race.
Society and Organisation – Gnomes are, as said, energetic. They are somewhat rare, being seen only occasionally, and then most of them are either wizards or priests – these are what they are best suited for, though warriors are not unheard of. They are somewhat independent compared to most other races, preferring to travel freely over staying in one place under the control of one ruler.

Species Orc – Orcs are massive green-skinned brutes – the darker the tone, the older and stronger the Orc, though their size alone may also assist in determining their strength and place in a tribe. They are typically unintelligent, but gifted with a sense of cruel, animalistic cunning. They have an almost instinctive habit of taking things from others for their own uses, sometimes adapting whatever it is that was stolen so that they may produce it.
Society and Organisation – In Orc society, it is truly survival of the fittest. The largest and strongest Orc rules the tribe, and savages those below him, who in turn bully those below them, and so on and so forth. In this manner, almost every single Orc is made to be cruel. If one cannot stand up for themselves, they will swiftly die, and they will be forgotten by others. Because of this need to prove one’s self, Orcs often war with one another and with other races. They dress in whatever form of armour they can get a hold of, taking any weapon they can find, and charge out to do battle. It is for a good reason that standing defense forces remain in towns that border Orcish lands.
Subspecies Goblin – Goblins are miniscule creatures, physically resembling Orcs in many ways. However, they are, as a whole weaker, though they are also quite often swifter and more intelligent. They have various different skin colours, those of green, red, orange, or even yellow sometimes.
Society and Organisation – Goblins are almost always slaves to Orcs, with the exception of some that form tribes of their own to raid and pillage. They are just as cruel as their cousins and masters, if not more so for being so mistreated. They are put down without a thought, and are despised by those of almost all races, enslaved by more than a few groups. The Goblins, even more so than Orcs, scavenge whatever they can, especially when it comes to weapons and armour – almost all of what they use is taken from another being, since most often making weapons is beyond their abilities.

Species Saleeth – Saleeth are strange creatures of nigh-unknown origins. They resemble lizards, with pebble-like scales covering most of their bodies, sporting ridges along their forearms and skulls, and generally appearing quite strange. They come in various different sizes, ranging from relatively small creatures to giants towering above others, all dependent on the area they are from.
Society and Organisation – Saleeth are certainly odd beings, commonly without many emotions apart from a few individuals. They are generally tribal, with a powerful priest or shaman being the one to command a tribe – word from their gods dictates their actions. They use crude arms – most often wooden shields and stone spears and arrows, with crude leather or hide armour for the protection that their scales do not provide. Almost all Saleeth tribes dwell within swamps, along coasts, or in any marshy, wet area – the temperature and humidity benefit them the most in such locations.

Species Mauva – The Mauva are a humble race of hunch-backed creatures that physically resemble rats or mice. They stand only about four feet in height, and are most often extremely skinny (they are both naturally slender and are, almost as a whole, starved and deprived of nourishment).
Society and Organisation – Mauva are extremely lonesome creatures – they rarely interact with their own kind, preferring to be on their own or amongst those of other species for their work. Most Mauva choose a life of crime – burglary, thievery, and other such petty crimes. Because of this, they are almost all excellent with a set of lockpicks, and can move quietly when they need to. Also because of this, most others hate them, particularly those in power – more than one noble has suffered a loss at the hands of the Mauva rat-burglars.

Species Naiesha – Naiesha are fierce little badger-like creatures. They rarely top five feet in height, but for their size, they are quite strong. They are famous for their short tempers and readiness to answer anything with some form of violence – so many of them have been put in jail over this that they have even earned the nickname of “Jail-Badgers”, though of course few would dare to call one such a term directly to their faces.
Society and Organisation – Naiesha are almost completely independent – many times, they are even hostile towards their own kin (although, of course, they are hostile to almost everything else as well) and so very few tribes ever actually work out – too many of them try to kill each other in order to become the leader. Naiesha are nomadic, and they rarely care to stay anywhere for too particularly long, lest they grow bored.

Species Kaisen – A Kaisen is a lithe humanoid that bears some resemblance to a Lynx. They are tall and lean, though they are not quite as strong as others. They are rather odd – and they are adept burglars, because, at will, they can change the colour of their fur to match that of their environment – say they were moving along a stone wall, they could make their fur adopt the texture and colour of that wall. It is a strange mutation, but a useful one.
Society and Organisation – Kaisen are, like Mauva, loners. They rarely encounter another one of their own, being as rare as they are, and so care little to try and form a tribe – it would be like trying to catch water with a sieve, as they say. They tend to wander, rarely staying in one place for any extended amount of time – they go wherever they feel like, and where the pickings are the best.

Species Esquali – The Esquali are almost as perplexing as the Saleeth, resembling seemingly no obvious creature known to man. They are almost always tall, over seven feet normally, extremely thin so that they seem barely to be but a single layer of muscle and skin over their bones, but their appearances are quite deceiving given their agility and ferocious strength. They also possess hooves and jackal-like heads, with oddly shaped beaks on the front of their snouts, also with spiny appendages which protrude from them that almost resemble dreadlocks on a human.
Society and Organisation – Esquali are even strange when it comes to their culture. They do indeed have some tribes, but they are formed in a different way than most. The chief-to-be gathers a small amount of the best warriors he can find to be his advisors, and then gathers a number of subjects for him to rule over. In this manner, his power is checked by the power of his “council”. They tend to live in deserts and other warm climes.
Subspecies Huunalii - Huunalii are more disturbing variations of the Esquali. Twisted and warped by the powers that lurk beyond the material realm, they are vaguely similar to their distant kin, but with horns growing from their skulls, sometimes extra limbs and tentacles, and various other mutations. They are just as large as their cousins, if not larger, and are twice as strong for their daemonic power.
Society and Organisation – There is no true organisation to the Huunalii. They only ever gather when a war is nigh, and then they support whichever side they choose. There is, however, a small enclave of these twisted nightmares dwelling within the Silverwood Forest, to the northwest of the island which holds Talazene, Vranek, the Free Zone, Neverlore, and Castle Carstegan. They are often shunned by other races, which blame them for bad luck of many kinds.

Species Sathi – The Sathi are a race of large bull-like humanoids, with both males and females sporting horns and heavy musculature. They stand tall and proud, and are often mistaken for Minotaurs and their like.
Society and Organisation – Sathi tribes are full of rituals and rites. Most tribes are led by the most powerful priest, similar to those of the Saleeth. Whilst generally calm, even-tempered, and relatively peaceful, they can still be roused for battle easily enough, if the situation warrants such.

Species Talarn – Talarn are strange, fish-like humanoid creatures. They physically resemble sharks and dolphins in many ways, but they have a bipedal build and large eyes. They are nearly silent, with only a handful of the Talarn knowing or being able to speak the common tongues. They are almost always grey-skinned, though there a handful of reddish or black-skinned Talarn.
Society and Organisation – Talarn dwell only within their sunken cities, either built by them from coral, or by other races that lost them to the sea from some cataclysmic event or another. They can dwell upon land for short periods of time, but they are most often aloof, remaining underwater where they are rarely bothered – can rarely be attacked as well – by the normal, air-breathing races, and where they can acquire anything they need.

Hybrids – There are a number of “hybrid” species populating the world, acquired from mixing two of the different species for a different creature – most often, it is a human and one of the creatures, than anything else.
Society and Organisation – Most hybrids are not commonly accepted by their parent races, but when they are, they get raised in the same fashion as others of their tribes or nations.

Kryx – The Kryx are a species of strange, insect-like creatures. They stand at about the height of a man, with elongated, six-eyed skulls that seem to have no mouth or nose, and a strange exoskeleton covering most of their body. They are normally brown, black, or gray in colouration, with eyes of red or yellow. They are rather disturbing looking, and speak in chitters and clicks.
Society and Organisation – Kryx are odd creatures, seemingly having neither organisation nor culture, only an undying servitude to some mysterious figure. They are very rarely seen anywhere, and as such they are regarded with awe and amazement among the other species. The Kryx seem to act for no apparent reason – most often with violence – that is obvious to others. Perhaps they simply operate differently – obviously, they are so unlike others that the machinations and workings of their minds are completely unknown.

Other Races and Species – There are many other creatures dwelling within the boundaries of the world – giants, ettins, trolls, ogres, dragons, and other mystical creatures in addition to “normal” creatures, such as snakes, badgers, wolves, foxes, and other similar such animals. Overall, almost nothing is unheard of in some part of Malagari.

..There, a redone list of my previous races. This time more engineered towards actual fantasy, rather than sci-fi.

That was 4k words, Kaliganforever.
(Nothing wrong with that. Just saying.)
So if you adopted all of them, just put that as a dramatis personai (or something like that. The list of characters prior the story...)
and it will leave you with only 56k left to write.

Re: [Fantasy] Adopt a Race

..*shrug* Those are just some of the notes for my fantasy world. So far I'm over 9000 words, and I've got the races, laws of magic, spells, magic items, technology, deities, and I've still gotta type up the currency system, the geography, and the layout of the national boundries. I've also got a few dozen maps, and maybe more than a hundred miniatures painted in the colours of some of the nations for display.
