if you look at some of the long list of names, some have last names as well. It's perfectly fine to take just a last name if needed (or just a first name if it's paired with a last name)

I happen to be rereading The Great Gatsby (1925) today, and I just encountered three pages in which F. Scott Fitzgerald does nothing but list names of people who came to Gatsby's frequent and extravagant parties. Some are just surnames; some have enough details to almost qualify as a minor characters. I think I might like to adopt Zenobia (first name only) for my FMC. She doesn't feel much like a Zenobia, but she feels like she could be a Zen-for-short, and her little crafting/spinning shop could incorporate 'Zen' into the name, especially since I find spinning to be a very zen activity.

I need a good name for my protagonist. First name something like Alex, Jack, Max. Something with that hard x or k sound, something kind of cool. Last name should have the same vowel sound and be 2-3 syllables. I was thinking Alex Chessman or Jack McClaskey - but I know someone by that latter one, and I'm not sold on Alex because his character is similar to Christopher McCandless ("Alexander Supertramp"). Wolfgang! A seriously strong German name, that is actually quite common. Also, Georg (Gee-org) is a favorite. Look for some German films on IMDB, lots of good suggestions.

I think I'll adopt Balavan for my mysterious magic guy. Rethiluem I'm taking for my MMC's mentor, although I think I'll change the spelling to Rhethyleum to attempt to make it more elven. 1) give her a normal, female given name, and then find a nickname from that. You could give her a name like Samantha or Alexandra, which obviously have unisex nicknames. Another option would be Danielle, and instead of going by the common 'Dani' insists people call her 'Dan' or changes the i to a y to sound less feminine. Not all nicknames are obvious, I've never met anyone else who uses the same nickname I do, (with the exception of my choir director sometimes just using the first syllable of his wife and co-director's name, which is the more common name. She and I share the same given name). 2) Give her a unisex name. Some unisex names might 'scream' a gender to you...like, I'd normally consider 'Blair' 'Brett' 'Brynn' and 'Carter' to me male names, yet I have read a female Blair, and it worked. Could her more male sounding name have affected her being a tomboy? Other names like "Sidney" "Jordon" (in any of it's various spellings) "Riley/Reilly/other spellings" "Taylor" "Cameron" aren't usually gender associated. Still others like "Addison" and "Ashley" generally indicate female... but maybe she doesn't like that and could go by Add, or Ash, or such... Interesting fact: Evan is a unisex name. babynames.com has a fairly good list of names and meanings.

I need some help of choosing a name for a future character of mine. He is an immortal who never dies like his mom. He is determine, respectful, wise, brave, willing to sacrifice himself to save the ones he loves, loyal, a warrior, a mix breed of multiple breeds in the universe, a prince, kind, and fights for what he wants(this describes him the most in my two books of him). The only name I found was Ajamu (meaning: he fights for what he wants) but I have one too many A names. I may go with it if I don't something different and easier to pronounce.

I picture her in my mind as being an elderly pensioner, who has the local police station phone number on speed dial. At present she is very middle class white english (although the village she lives in is on the england wales boarder). The location can't change, but her age and class and nationality can change.
