Someone posted this up last year...and I thought it was really nice 1) Would it be selfish of me, to wish for you to stay here forever... Well at least until, until then. Stay with me till then. I have grown accustomed to your company; now I fear being alone. 2) Why do you look at me so tenderly as though I could mean more to you than I should. I want to take your hand, but I'm afraid I will wakeup to another dream. Where your gone again, and I all alone. 3) I am a very selfish person. I really am. I put these all up last year and am not aware of anybody claiming them. Characters are filling out nominations for some sort of Best/Most column or yearbook page or show. C1: This is a little ridiculous. C2: What do you mean? C1: I'm looking at all the categories - funniest, best eyes, best smile, best hair, most huggable, most kissable lips - and I want to put (you or C3) down for all of them. C: If I knew that it would be better for you if I were out of your life, I'd go. But not knowing that I can't make myself stay away. C1: I know that not everybody is as crazy about you as I am. But I can't for the life of me figure out why. C1: I'm unhappy with you, I'm unhappy without you. But at least when I'm with you, the misery and jealousy are tempered by the fact of your presence. C1: What one thing do you want for yourself more than anything else? C2: To be with C3. C1: If that's what you want most, why don't you go after him/her? C2: Because that's what I want for myself. What I want most period is for him/her to be happy. He/she won't be happy with me.

For a cynical character: "Love is a selfish emotion. When you're in love, you want them around because it makes you feel good. You want them to be happy because it makes you happy. You're willing to let them go only because seeing them miserable would crush you, too. It's just petty, and you know what? I'm the most petty person you're likely to meet. Name, I love you, and I'm selfish enough to hope you love me back." That sounded so much more elegant in my head. OTL I hope someone can find a use for it, anyway.

C1 & C2:.............. (In process of following suspects) "There going to see us, what do we do?" C1 grabs C2 and kisses them for a few minutes before C2 pulls away and says breathlessly "There gone now" C1 pulls them back "I know" then kisses C2 again I was always told there was a thin line between love and hate, then you walked into my life and I realised just how thin that line was.

I don't do romance often, but I have a baby couple (as in, couple that is my baby) here, and when they got married, they both wrote their own vows. The girl's requires background, but they guy's says it in the vows. So here, wibble at will: "You amaze me. Every single day, you stun me with your passion, devotion and loyalty. And it hurts that you sometimes think what you do isn't enough. I barely lend anything to our relationship. Anything I do pales in comparison to you, your strength, your commitment. There's a saying I've been using a lot since we became friends, and even more since I finally got the courage to ask you out. 'It's the least I can do.' Because it's the truth, C1. You got me through high school. Beating up your bullies was the least I could do. You helped me break into my own car when I locked my keys in. the least I could do was give you a ride home. Here are some random lines people can use. Feel free to change them up however you need/want to in order to get them to work for you. I can't promise that I won't use one in my own writing, especially #3, but I don't really mind if I do and someone else wants to use them. *shrug* 1. "I want to be the one you text at three in the morning when you can't decide what to put in your DnD campaign. Not just because I'm the only one awake, but because I'm the first person you'd want to talk to about that type of thing. And not just at three in the morning, but all the time." 2. "I've spent the last two weeks writing inequalities that simplify to 'i <3 u'. Then I remembered half an hour ago that you hate math. So I said 'screw it' and drove over here to tell you that I love you." 3. "Because I know that you pretty much only speak in analogies comparing your life to Greek myths, I researched some Greek people. And I think I want to be your Penelope. Don't get me wrong - I don't want you to leave me for twenty years while I fight off creeps trying to get in my pants. It's just that, well, all the other romantic myths tend to end with death and sadness...and I'd like to be the person that you always come back to at the end of it all." (These ended up nerdier than I expected them to be. And expect more from me - I love writing these types of things!)

From a story that kind of got shuffled around an abandoned. It was about a girl whose boyfriend moved away in highschool, with a promise that they would be together again one day, but then he never called or emailed. She moved on, and when she was ready to go to college, he contacted her. On a whim, she went with him to Texas and they tried to build a life together. I might add to this story later, but it's only for personal use. Might as well find someone else who can use all this sappiness! So, without further ado, here's the lines. C1: Gosh, you’re even more beautiful than I remembered you. C1: I’m so sorry I hurt you. I was terribly afraid that I had. You have no idea how much it killed me to let you move on. To not email you, to not hear your voice on the phone, to never see you. I didn’t think I could make it. And I never stopped loving you, not even for a moment. C2: Neither did I. There were times I forgot that I loved you, but there was never a time that I didn’t. There was never a time when you could’ve called me that my heart wouldn’t have leapt through the skies. I always loved you. C1: Did you ever think you might not see home again? C2: I am home, when I’m with you C1: You still do that? C2: Yeah, don’t you? C1: Of course! Leaving some stuff from my real life. "I secretly think that you think you're in love with me but don't want to say because you're scared you might be wrong." "Your secret thinking is right." "I'm in love with you, you know. (I could be wrong.)" "You're in my heart, and I'm glad that you're in my heart, and in my life, and I want you to stay there." This could make a good series of things to have a character say: "I think I might be starting to fall for you." Later "I definitely might be starting to fall for you." Later "I'm kind of definitely falling for you." Later "I've definitely already fallen for you." Said in a non-romantic way but still just about the sweetest thing anybody's ever said to me and would be good for this: "Pffft I love all of you equally. Except for your brain. And your heart."

Perhaps this one isn't so romantic, but it works for sexual tension and comedy. :) This is a personal experience of mine... Your main guy and girl characters are sitting next to each other doing absolutely nothing. Perhaps they are waiting for something, or chained up together, etc. Guy: So...this is kinda boring. Girl: Yup. Guy: Not much to do... Girl: Nope. Guy: *grins* You wanna make out? Girl: *grabs a notebook/random object and hits him with it* Dude! What the heck? FC: Same opinion here :) Don't know how good these are, since they obviously make more sense to me because of the context. But maybe someone can use them or get an idea from them :)

I have found so many amazing lines to adopt from this forum that I simply can't list them all. But I wanted to say how enormously they helped and thank all the awesome people who posted here this year. I don't think my novel would have progressed half so well without the inspiration I got here.

Before one of my ex girlfriends and I got together we were joking around about liking each other and stuff, and this is what we said. She stole the first line from one of the adopt a line things, but the second part was all me. (C2 is standing in a doorway or something) C1: C'mon, in or out, you're not a cat. C2: Well, can I be your dog? C1: What? C2: I'd be like other dogs. I'd be loyal, love you unconditionally, wake up in your bed smiling, always be by your side, and go on long walks with you just so we could be together.

Yeah a little back story for this, Spencer just came back from a make up date with his ex that ended in a total disaster as in making her cry in public and inciting a screaming match laced with obscenities in the restaurant. And he is talking to his sister about it, who set them up with the help of his best friend Marcus. Stephanie: Really, Spencer? You know this is so much like you. Ever since Mum died you've been doing this. Spencer: Doing what? Ever since Mum died I have been doing what, Stephanie? Stephanie:You run away from the things and people you really care about as if you were scared to get hurt by them or losing them...That's it, isn't it?..You're scared to get hurt again. Spencer: Yeah Stephanie I'm scared. I run away so that I don't get hurt and you know what? I do love her. Well at least I did before tonight. But before tonight, she changed that for me. I was scared the whole time but I loved her too much to leave her. I just couldn't. And then everything just kind of fell apart. But I didn't run, no because I was still in love with her. Yeah after all that I still loved her. And so I went to that stupid meeting. And when I saw her face again, I hated her. I hated her for making me feel so vulnerable and feeling so weak. I hated her for making me fall in love with her and she with me, in the first place. The way she laughed, the way she smiled, and the way she would kissed me whenever I looked stressed out, and how she called me baby. And most of all, I hated her for making me love her, tonight. And maybe I could have swallowed my fear and give us one more chance. Or at least went after her to apologize for the scene I made. But I didn't, because ever heard the phrase "once, bitten, twice shy" yeah well I've been twice bitten, once shy.I got bit , not once but twice, by the same woman too! And now I'm running and not you, not Marcus, and certainly not her will stop me this time.

This happened a couple weeks ago with my girlfriend and I. We had never said I love you, so this was obviously a big step for me. She's Cuban and loves to speak Spanish all the time, I on the other hand don't know a damn thing about Spanish and am about as white as it gets, also, I have no accent, so when I speak spanish it sounds horrible.... C1: C2...I need to tell you something... C2: You can tell me anything. C1: I love you...But if you don't love me I completely understand and won't let it get in the way, I just had to let you know. You know? C2: WAIT! I need you to take that back! Don't ask questions! It's not that...just, real quick, I have to do something and I can't if you say that, just don't question my motives. C1: Uh, ok *kind of hurt and confused* C2: *deep breath* Te amo. I had to say that first because it would have sounded stupid if I said that after you and I just had to say it that way so you would know I just wanted to make you smile because that's really all I want most of the time because I like your smile. God, please just say you love me so I don't feel stupid. C1: *chuckles a bit* I love you.

Oh wow, that's so sad. I can, unfortunately, foresee this eventually happening to the main couple in my story, though they're both guys instead. Just imagining it with this dialogue makes it feel all the more tragic.

Who is he, and why do you let him push you around like that?” C2: “I really don’t see how that’s any of your business.” C1: “You’re the one who wanted to talk in the first place...” C2: “He's my boyfriend! ...Okay?” C1: “Your boyfriend?” C2: “Yes! My life didn’t end when you left! It kept going, it moved on. I moved on.” C1: “You moved on to HIM? He’s completely horrible! Why him?” C2: “I don’t know, he... needs me!” C1: “I need you!” C2: "You ABANDONED me." Not exactly happy and cute, but there it is.
