No cussing, swearing, cursing, etc. (this goes without saying since it's against the forum rules anyway...) 2. No blasphemy. Again, should go without saying. 3. I don't... have Bible study anymore. D: Or youth group. The closest I have is WELS Campus Ministry, and all we do is go to Pastor's house once every other month or so for lunch. :/ Steve, our resident Senior guy, is trying to set up a mid-week Bible study at his apartment, but he's in Aviation(which is HUGE at my uni) so he has flights a lot, and timing is bad. :( But yeah. I sorry you didn't get to go. :( That really sucks.

Guys, feel free to skip this if you want. It's just something that's been bothering me... It seems to me that a lot of the stuff we do in church is just tradition. Tell me, how many times in church do you catch your mind wandering when we're doing the prayers, or confession and absolution, or the kyrie? I mean, do you actually think about what you say, or have you done it so many times that it's become you muttering the words that you have to say every Sunday? And what about outside of church? A lot of people act extremely different outside of church than inside; why? God's still watching you; it's not as if he's confined to church. I mean seriously, you're a Christian. The Commandments are there for a reason; they aren't just a guideline to live your life. They're serious. Okay. I'm done.

I have... mental pictures, I guess you could call them, for each part of the service. Not even every big part, but every individual line of every big part. It's a great way to stay focused on it. I also try to repeat the sermon in my head as Pastor preaches. Every sentence or so, I say back in my head. It works really well, you stay focused, and you remember it better. My roommate, in a school of 15,000+ students, is Christian. Most of the people on the floor of my dorm are Christian. Most of my friends are Christian, or don't question my faith. None of my professors question it. Except my Honors professor, but she questions it because I mention it all the time and so she asks about my church and my faith. But she doesn't question it. I act differently outside of church, in language mostly. But I'm not shy about mentioning my faith and the reasons I have for holding my faith. My Bible sits on my desk, usually open, full of highlighter and pen and pencil markings, for all to see. I don't hide it, and don't pretend to hide it. I have at least three very serious conversations a week about faith and religion, sometimes with the same people and sometimes with different people. O_O A Lutheran thread? Wow, awesome! I'm 16 and I've been Lutheran all my life (LCMS.) My church is such a huge part of my existence. xD Good thing it's an awesome church. Oh, and Hunger Ludinivalis, yeah, most of it IS tradition. But it's also drawn from God's word, it's survived through the ages, which sets it apart from a lot of stuff that other churches do. I mean, with some modern churches, it's all about entertaiment, which church isn't supposed to be. I've questioned my faith a lot through my life, and in the end, it's great that I have something solid I can come back to. Not just fluff.

I haven't, but there's a family at my church that I'm pretty sure has gone numerous times. I'd like to go, but I'd kinda want to wait until I had a friend to go with instead of *just* being with my mom or church members I barely know or something. (This is a problem when the majority of my friends are staunchly non-Christian and, through everything they've said and implied, pretty anti-Christian. It's a tough thing; I wonder at my choice in friends.) -unrelated- OMG HvZ is tomorrow! I'm going to die. @_@ Literally. I haven't attended that one, but I counseled at Camp Luther (which is organized and supported through Great Plains Lutheran High School in SD where my younger sister goes) for a week one summer. I want to talk to Dean Maertz about maybe getting to counsel again, since I'm a lot closer where I am than I would be if I was home. The only thing is when I get off work... But yeah. I miss Camp so much. :(

GUYS. I was checking my e-mail, quite nonchalantly last night, and guess what. MY GRANDPA OFFICIALLY JOINED THE WELS CHURCH THAT MY PARENTS/FAMILY GO TO. ^________________^ He's been seriously thinking about it for two years, but he officially joined on Sunday. :D Course, my parents call me to tell me my little sister got an A on a test. Grandpa joins the church? Nope. Just an email. -headdesk- Some days.... But I'm SOOOO super happy he joined. :D

Our next alone conversation will be interesting, since methinks a large part of it will be religion. :) This is a good thing, definitely. We just now need to... Find a time to talk... Yeeeeaah. That'll be the hardest part, I think. I'm not sure. But I know, by way of a brief texting conversation about it, that we're both ready to talk about religion and things that go with it.

The last one is one of my favorites. When I got confirmed, We all got a bible verse from the pastor. It was from Romans. Let me see if I can find it *walks to pile of cards* Romans 10:9- Because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. There's also the classic John 3:16- God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so all that believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I remember my confirmation verse. "He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy." Oh, what verse was that...? Oh. Job 8:21 (my mom made me a bracelet with the verse on it :D ). It's just...always been a great comfort for me, increasingly so. It's a promise that, no matter what happens, God will always be there to make it better. When I feel like crying, he'll be there to remind me how to laugh and be joyful. Wow... It's been a while since I've had my confirmation verse brought up again. It's a good feeling. I remember that, when I chose it, it was kind of me angsting, because I didn't really have friends. But every time I look at it and say the words again, I always get this feeling of comfort and joy. My pastor told us to pick a verse that was like God's promise to us, and this really is the most comforting thing I think I could have picked. God's promising me that when I put my faith in Him, He will always make things right. (If I could hug Jesus right now, I so would. Instead, I'll hug you all, cuz it's kind of the same thing, right? *hugs everyone*) !!! I just realized something. In heaven...I'll get to hug Jesus! 8D *modern Christian joys*

*hugs* My pastor picked our verses for us. :) Mine is Pslam 138:8 "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me, your love, O Lord, endures forever." I couldn't have picked a better one if I'd tried. But I got confirmed, and that summer, my mom found the verse on a big fuzzy blanket. Needless to say, the blanket is mine. :) And one of my favorite blankets. And, ya know, the one on my lap at the moment... :D

I love Reformation services. Seriously. They're pretty much my favorite services in the church year, next to Easter and Christmas. :P I don't know why I love them so much, but I do. :) They're fantastic. And remind me of why I fight people every day for my religion. Even with my closest friends up here, I have to stop and explain to them why I'm so set on going to the ELS church, instead of one closer, or that has a group on campus, or any other number of things. My verse was Revelation 2:10b Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. Whenever I'm struggling in my faith, I just have to think of that, and know that if I stay faithful then He'll bring me home eventually :)

My novel is very short so far. I'm out of prologue, but my FMC is still a child. She just got kidnapped, and I'm finally slowing the story down a little bit (instead of rushing ahead). I need to get through with this part quick so I can actually get to the main plot. :/ Just to get some kind of discussion going... What are your policies on swearing? Do you approve/disapprove? Do you do it, and if so, how much/when/why (or why not)? Do you feel guilty at all for swearing if you do? Etc. (I'll let you all answer first... >.> )

I don't like swearing. Every once and a while one will slip out, but that's it. Well, in public. When I'm just in my room with a couple friends, then, well, we're teenagers. What do you expect? Also, we're guys. Yay for stereotypes.

As far as swearing goes... Yeah. I do. I don't like it, but I do. It happens, a lot more now that I'm at a public uni instead of my 'happy' little WELS high school. I need to stop again. But I probably won't be able to. :/ Hunger, really? You play for church? Me tooooo. I was asked a couple weeks ago if I wanted to be added to the pianist list at the little church I go to up here. I've been going to this church since August. :) Yep. I'll play eventually, but not until second semester at earliest.

Dude. You guys play so many instruments. o.o Wow. I never played an instrument. I just sang in the school choir sometimes (which was really fun; I liked the songs. Although, toward the end I had to sing with the boys since I couldn't hit the high notes). Yeah... I don't like to swear. I used to never swear. And then I got to college. Instead of going out partying and drinking or experimenting with smoking and drugs, I've started swearing. :( Not bad in comparison, but I feel bad about it. Although, I've noticed that in the last couple of weeks, I've been swearing less. Which is good.

So many instruments is debatable. :P I play... piano, Bb soprano clarinet, Bb bass clarinet, handbells, tone chimes, percussion of varying types, and I want to play Eb soprano clarinet, A alto clarinet, Eb alto clarinet, Eb contra-alto clarinet, and Bb contrabass clarinet. Most of these should be possible to play since my school has them for rent/practice if I talk to the right people. :) And technically I should be able to play them since it's all the same fingering and embrochure can't be too different between them. :D

That doesn't count. They're all clarinets of different kinds. Other than the percussion/handbells. But still. I suddenly got the urge to play the harp, though... -bump- Now that NaNo is over and the threads will *hopefully* be quieting down, let's try to keep this up, shall we? :D

I've been sort of laying off a bit as well; I guess the whole "OMENANOWRIMOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" But yeah. I'm going to have to drop out of PE for a bit :(

Ello. :D As for Hunger's question of what we're up to... I'm getting things ready for the last week until my school's relay for life. :D I'm one of the co-captains for my dorm's team, so we're really trying to do a lot of fundraising things and such. And I'm also getting ready for my floor's Feast 0 Nation. We're all bringing something that is a home-food to us and we're eating ALL THE THINGS. :) It will be great.

Sounds like a blast! Will that be a lot of food? Or will it be no problem finishing it all? Did you raise a lot of money for relay for life? That's a cancer walk, isn't it? I'm anxiously awaiting results for an FFA contest I competed in last Wednesday. Long weekend has to get in my way of finding out if we're going to state! Praying that we do!

We haven't yet, but that's the problem with doing a Relay on a college campus. Everyone's broke and doesn't have a lot of money to donate. And yeah, it's a cancer walk. Which is really important to me because so much of my family has/had cancer. So yeah. And it will be a lot of food. But I doubt it will be hard to finish it all. :) I hope you make it!!!! :D
