I've got know idea whether I count here. I mean, I believe that God -- the Allfather, or Source, or whatever you call It -- got lonely and created all the beings we've worshipped throughout the ages. But I do believe that Jesus is his most recent prophet, and that Jesus did reconcile us -- sort of -- unto the Allfather.

So, uh, Pagan for Jesus?

My favorite of my gods is Dionysus, but I'm also really fond of St. Michael the Archangel.

Following Ojibwe (native american) traditions here! Hello all!

@Drahcier: I won't explain wiccans beliefs as they aren't mine. But paganism is a word for all the religion exept Christianity, Judaism, and Mohammedanism, if the dictionary is right. As for why I believe... because it's a large part of my family's beliefs and they are what I feel are closest to me. It's that simple. :)

Re: Pagans Unite

...Well, strictly speaking, I suppose you could say that I'm currently without a religion. I grew up in a Presbyterian family, but that hasn't sat well with me over the years, and I've recently been studying Wicca. While I wasn't actually in search of a new religion when I started my research (...actually, amusingly enough, my research was sparked by my interest in including two realistic Witches in a somewhat paranormal story that I'm going to be working on for NaNo this year, haha), I've become extremely interested throughout the course of my studies. I've always been a spiritual person by nature, mind you, and it would seem that Wicca resonates well with me. I love how seemingly simple but ultimately wonderful the religion as a whole is, and how the primary focus is on the here and now, rather than how to get into "heaven" or avoid going to "hell." At least, that's how I see it.
However, I keep finding myself afraid to engage the Wiccan community to ask questions, because, admittedly, I've come across so many elitists researching so many other things that I'm afraid to be looked down upon because I'm just beginning my studies. ._.; I know how unlikely that is, but I still worry, because I don't want to get discouraged by someone insulting me for not knowing a lot yet. But, I really want to learn, so I'm trying to stick my feet in and at least get a better feel of things! (That, and I've heard that the Wiccan community is generally pretty cool, so I'm hoping I don't have much to worry about in that regard. c: )

So... yeah! Long wall of text short, I'm currently studying and wondering if Wiccan might be the right spiritual path for me. = ) Hello, everyone!

Wicca is a branch of Paganism, which is based on ancient nature-based religions. I think most people believed a lot of the stuff Wicca/Paganism focuses on before they knew there was even a religion for it, then when they heard about the religion they realized it was perfect for them :) I think that's usually how it works.

Re: Pagans Unite

I am currently one foot in and one foot out of the broom closet. I own several books and my family is well aware of it, but I have the pretense of being Lutheran.

As to how I discovered paganism, I atribute it to reading far more books of far more genres than the average person and having an insatiable curiosity. When I was little and in Sunday school I had issues with the idea that Christianity was "right" and that anyone who thought differently was damned. This led me to develop the belife that everyone goes to the afterlife they expect. This of course, presented me with a new problem. I still don't know what religion I am because I don't know where I want to go. So, I remain a part of my congregation (most likely hopeing I'll have the revalation that I really do believe in what everyone around me does but knowing that that ship has pretty much sailed out the window), and I'm still searching for a good fit. Needless to say, I've never really discussed religion with anyone my age; and only a small number of adults, and only when they've been drunk.

Re: Pagans Unite

Hey all. I'm an eclectic pagan. Or more specifically (as I think of it at least) a "poly-pantheistic pluralist among other things". I haven't found a specific group that I belong to more than others, but for me spirituality is mostly a personal thing, so I don't really care. I pretty much just take the lessons from any path that might suit me, and leave the ones that don't work for me behind, at least for a while.
I'm out of the broom closest (and the closet for that matter) to everyone except for most of my extended family. Most of them are from Nebraska and variously intensely Christian of one form or another. If these people ask me directly I tell them, but otherwise I don't. So far that sort of thing has only come up once, and about who I was dating, not my spiritual practices. I don't hide my views though, so more of that part of my family might know then I realize.
I don't even remember how I discovered paganism so don't bother asking me. I just remember not getting the Christian (well not only Christian) idea of a singular, omnipotent god. When I was five. When I was about nine or ten, I felt the need to belong somewhere spiritually so I dragged my family to... like seven or eight different churches. The longest we stayed at one was about two months or so. The mono-theism (among other things) still just didn't make sense to me.
Ever since I've been finding my path bit by bit, and this is where it has led. Where ever the hell this is.

Re: Pagans Unite

A lot of my religious talk has been with adults too. Only they were all sober. It helps when you randomly find out that some of your relatives you don't have contact with are pagan or you go to a school where philosophical discussions is almost as normal as the teachers going on random tangents about their lives or starting some classroom wide debate or whatever. Art schools are amazing this way.
I've also had quite a bit of religious discourse with friends my age, of all sorts of varieties. To tell the truth a lot of the more interesting of these conversations have been with monotheists of various bents.
And then again there's always the occasional stranger who wants to know what sort of spiritual journey you're on. I've had a few of those. It doesn't get less weird.
My suggestion for finding out more about paganism and where you fit in it, especially if you don't have anyone to talk to about it, is listening to any pagan podcasts you can get your hands on. They're fantabulously interesting and the people talking about it aren't drunk. At least usually. And when they (likely) are its not like you can tell anyway, as those people tend to sound like that all the time.

Hi -waves nervously-

I think at the moment I'm leaning toward Wicca. I've looked at a couple other religions but they just don't seem to fit me. Wicca though...it seems to make more sense somehow. I've looked at different texts from various religions and all I end up thinking at the end is "that went around in circles..." or something similar because it just wasn't making sense.
I've actually had some rather interesting discussions with my friends about this. It's good cuz we've got a rather interesting mix, one athiest, two agnostics (altough one said that she'd quite happily be a druid if she knew how) one Christian, two people that I son't actually know what they are since they don't really express much opnion one way or the other, and me who's just sort of trying to figur it all out. We have had some VERY interesting discussions though. (it also helps that our school actually has a philosophy course that I'm taking this year. It's really interesting and the whole "is there one god" debate has come up quite a few times. It's been rather fun to argue.

How I discovered Wicca...through reading books I supose. I noticed that a lot of the books I was reading had a sort-of common theme going through them of some form of witchcraft so I began to look it up since I guessed that the authors had had a similar point if inspiration. It was then that I found Wicca. Since then I've been looking at the different paths and right now I'm trying to figure out which one is best for me since I've enver been all that religious before. Sure my family is Christian but not "in your face" if you know what I mean. They're pretty flexible about this sort of thing.

I'm pagan, but I sort of follow my own pagan gods. Since there aren't any other pagans where I live (that I know of) I kinda just do my own thing. My gods and goddesses are sort of a mismash of Celtic/Norse/a little bit of Greek gods.

I'm 16 and have been a ceremonial Wiccan for five years now without my family's knowledge. It's been a difficult and tedious five years, and i long to tell my parents more than anything but... it's hard. As i'm sure you guys understand.

I love being Wiccan, I wouldn't give it up for the world.

This is me, I'm Tritrinitarian Wiccan (Christian Wiccan) and I'm actually not the only one I know following this path. It's almost Gnostic as I worship the Goddess Sophia (a.k.a the Holy Ghost)

Re: Pagans Unite

I already posted part of mine. I'm Christian (Tritrinitarian) Wiccan. I worship the God and Goddess (Sophia/Holy Ghost). It's sometimes hard to explain all at once. So basically it's eclectic Wicca and a somewhat Unitarian form of Christianity. I don't believe in the "Three in one", or original sin, or hell (it's metaphorical), or in the teachings of the bible (it was written in a different time and by people who aren't holy).

I've been practicing for almost two years now (December 27), and my family doesn't know but several of my friends do.

I can't wait for Samhain tonight. One of my fellow Tritrinitarian wiccan friends is throwing a Halloween/Samhain party.

Re: Pagans Unite

I'm leaning towards paganism right now (probably druid or celtic paganism, yet I'm not sure)...
Funny story...I ended up learning the most about it while I was on a trip to Europe over the summer. Really loved it, and she ended up helping to persuade me from christianity. Saw some things that fully converted me along the way.
And of course, my strict christian family knows nothing about my paganism. I just wish there were some around where I live, considering I wish I could have done something for Samhain this year...

And my parents don't know, and I don't care for them too. We don't have a great relationship, so they only know what I'm wearing opening- and they have to deal.

I actually know quite a few "eclectic pagans", just no one else that actually used that term. At least not until I suggested it.

Hello all! I'm not a Wiccan or a Druid, or what-have-you. In fact, I've been trying to follow up on the practices of my ancestors, the Native Hawaiians. :D

Other than that, I've dabbled in LaVeyan Satanism, I've participated in some Druidic festivals... and a damn good time was had and it is impossible to quantify the sheer amount of fucks that were not given. :) I'm also a general occultist and, if you've questions, I tend to have a very vast resource of information. xD
