Any other teen singer/songwriters?

I've been playing piano for five years, and I recently started writing songs.

So, I was curious if there were any other teens here that write/sing songs. What instrument do you usually use?

I love writing songs (both lyrical and instrumental) Do you have yours posted anywhere? I have a YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/sinnersanctified93) for instrumental music and a DevArt account (poetdontknowit.deviantart.com) for lyrics. As for instrument... I'm a pianist, tho' I can play some guitar, and I co-own a pretty nice synth. =)

I don't do much song writing, but I love music. I play piano, bass, and clarinet. I like to improvise on my keyboard, and sometimes I write a few songs. Working on putting together a band of me, my friend (who is a much better singer than me) and hopefully my other friend who plays drums.

Yup - I've been playing piano for a little over 12 years now, and I started writing music (rather infrequently, to be honest) a few years ago. I've done some instrumental work, as well as adding lyrics. I've also done some accompaniment writing.

My youtube channel is FlipFlyFall (http://www.youtube.com/user/FlipFlyFall?feature=mhee) but I'm planning to revamp it once NaNo's over and I've gotten past finals week in December.

Maybe you guys would be interested in participating in FAWM? It's February Album Writing Month - sort of like NaNo, but it's a challenge to write 14 songs in Feb.

I write songs for piano. And my piano teacher is trying to make me write one for guitar, but oh yeah, I don't know how to play guitar well enough to compose for it.
And music theory is the most amazing thing ever. Once you get passed the boring "What is this note and how long do you hold it out for?" it's so interesting and so much fun.
Oh, this reminds me, I have composition due soon. How am I supposed to write a coda gaaaaah.

I'm learning guitar, but I've been singing for years now. But I don't know an instrument well enough yet to actually be able to write anything. I hope to, eventually!

Hi!! Can I join this group?? I write my own songs and sing them. I write mostly for guitar and piano. The chords aren't played very excitingly on either instrument, but the words are what really matter, right?? :)

I am starting to write my own stuff. I don't have any of the songs put to music yet though. I play guitar, piano, and have played flute for over 4 years! I am on YouTube (MissKay819)

Something I forgot to mention, but I'm the "manager" of my neighbor girls' band, so I'm writing a few of their songs, though some of them they come up with themselves. :) So, if you ever hear the band RBRB sing, assuming there's no other band called that, then I probably wrote the song. XD

I sing a little but nothing of my own. If I do sing, it's either a cover of a song or a parody song. I have written my own parodies but none are any good in my opinion. I've been told that I'm a pretty good singer, though. I play clarinet mainly but I'm teaching myself piano and acoustic guitar. XD

I write songs sometimes, usually for piano because that's my main instrument, though I did write a trumpet trio once.
And I write a ton of lyrics, for when I'm actually non-suckish at the guitar. I just started learning two months ago, so yeah. xD

Hi! Music is my main interest. I play, piano, guitar, and I sing.

I compose all different ways. I generally start with lyrics, though. Then depending on what feels right I play with chords on the guitar or piano. I sing what feels right. Then I find the vocal line on the piano so I know I'm on key and such. Then I go back to guitar and transpose the guitar chords and picking onto the piano. I come up with my more impressive harmonies by working with my piano.

I love writing songs, but I also like covering. My Immortal was the first song I performed on piano for a recital. I recently got together a nice piano version of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.

I usually write the lyrics and music to my songs in my head without writing them down (don't play piano, DO play Bb trumpet so if I tried to write everything down I'd get mixed up with the different pitches). Well, I write the lyrics down, but not the music. The music's all in my head. Anyone else do that?

Me! I write songs, though I'm still working on piano.

I usually start with my lyrics and then write the music for my songs, though I broke my ukulele and am now waiting for a new one. Not that I am good with chords anyway. I'll have to re-learn all the chords it's been so long...

WanderingVixen, I'm convinced that A) your stalking me or B) you are just an awesome person who is into the same things I am. I'll go with the last option.

Song writing isn't my strong point. Lyrics and chords and notes... All that in my head as I try to write it down... Ugg... It's like getting a really good story line and you can't seem to write it down fast enough.

Piaaaannnoooo and guuuuuitar. I want to sing. I think I can.

And I'm a writer that love poetry, so the lyrical format is not foreign to me.

I've been trying to write some tunes but I think I shall wait until Nov is over so I can finish my novel. xD
