This thread is dedicated to one of the main factors that helps us get through NaNoWriMo. Music! Here are the lyrics to a song by Casting Crowns, called Wedding Day. I love this song. It totally makes me cry. The chorus, especially. What's one of your favorite songs? Aw, that's so pretty! Casting Crowns has some songs that I like. I have completely forgotten what my favorite beautiful song is. Everything is too fast or a break-up song. Like... OKAY I GOT ONE! Chris August - You and I (not the LG one) Though that is pretty fast, but very pleasant. :-D He does have one that is slow and beautiful....

I hadn't heard that song before, but just looked it up. Loved it so much I added it to my list of songs to buy. So thank you :D But I would disagree about break-up songs not being beautiful... Natalie McDonald. Just all of her songs, always. Specifically, Lament of the Neurotic. This girl went to my school last year and is honestly one of my favorite artists that I 'discovered' in 2010. And that's including Adele. The Chase, also, is fantastic. This girl's going places. I LOVE that song! I hear it on the radio all the time. It seriously makes me tear up.... Another one I love is "Everything to Me", by Mark Schutlz. It's a song he wrote to his birth mother, thanking her for giving him life. It's so sweet!

My favorite songs to listen to while writing my NaNo (and at any other time) are all vocaloid music. I particulary love the songs: Prisoner (Kagamine Len), Paper Plane (Kagamine Rin), Servant of Evil ((Kagamine Len) I also like the rest of the evil saga but don't feel like posting all the songs in it), A Faint Wish ((Kagamine Len) Yes, there are also more in this series, this song is just my favorite of them), Judgement of Corruption (Kaito).

I adore DBSK for beautiful songs - they're a Korean group that sings in both Korean and Japanese, and I can't understand a word unless they happen to throw in an English word or too, but they have amazing acapellas and generally gorgeous songs. Unfortunately, they're disbanded now, split into two groups - JYJ and Homin (Homin is still called DBSK). Okay. I've heard the song Courageous by Casting Crowns a ton but it wasn't until this weekend that it hit me as a beautiful song. There is this one line and I was just like WOW! 'the only way that we can stand is on our knees with lifted hands make me courageous, Lord make us courageous....' I may not have quoted that perfectly but it is awsome.

So I just saw Billy Elliot (for the 3rd time, I really love this musical way too much), and to anyone who hasn't seen it, watch the movie (It's rated R, but pretty much just for language and a few violent scenes and I think there is a PG-13 version too) and if possible go see the musical (it's on a national tour in the US right now, and it's playing in London and I think in Chicago? It just closed/is closing in New York). It's about two things: the miner's strike in England in the 80s (hence a couple violent scenes), and also a boy who wants to dance instead of take boxing. It's a really really amazing movie, and also the musical is amazing and yeah. Billy Elliot promotion over... BUT! (The main point of this long ramble) the songs are amazing (I think there is only one song in there I don't absolutely love). Christian Kane (who released his first album... can't really say last year anymore, but December, 2010) has a lot of beautiful songs off of The House Rules (Even if one is just a cover). Thinking Of You Let Me Go Fast Car If you watch Leverage, there was an episode titled The Studio Job, in which he played an acoustic version of Thinking Of You. There's a music video for Let Me Go, and it was #1 on CMT's list music videos for about a month.

Hm, I'm not so into Christian music (and taken literally the metaphors of the first song seem to have some sexist implications about marriage) but I can understand why someone who believes differently than I would like that stuff. It's certainly nice-sounding, at the least. I'm surprised no one's put down Regina Spektor yet... o.O she always makes me really emotional in the best ways. Let's face it, at one point or another, we've all heard Judy Garland sing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in The Wizard of Oz. And we've also heard Louis Armstrong sing "What A Wonderful World". This is a song that is being paired with the most beautiful duet danced by two of the most beautiful, emotional contemporary dancers I know, and choreographed by the most expressive teenage choreographer I know for our company's performances next week. She has a lovely voice, I think, and I have a sort of obsession with depressing songs. So I'm back with some beautifully tragic songs (but this time they're from RENT which makes them 10x better than the usual). I'd like to start by saying that anybody who hasn't seen RENT is severely missing out on everything good in life. It's actually playing in New York right now (off-Broadway, which means it's cheaper and in a smaller, more intimate theater), but if you can't just go to NYC on a whim (which, let's face it, few of us can. I wish I could. There is so much playing right now that I want to see...), there's also a movie of it that has pretty close to the original cast. Also, as a warning, this musical does have a few moments referencing sexual acts. I didn't find it offensive. My younger sister didn't find it offensive. Nobody has sex on stage. It's rated PG-13 in the U.S. and PG in Canada. It had a lot less cussing than Billy Elliot, and Billy Elliot is a musical that was designed with children as part of the designated audience. But I know that some people on here are pretty conservative. Honestly though, if you need to, just pretend Joanne is a guy because this is a musical/film that everybody should see for the pure beauty of it. Also, the emotional rollar coaster of it. You might not approve of the characters and their lifestyles, but the show is worth it. ANYWAY! The finale (Finale B) (No Day But Today) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvkKuqB6u4E) is amazingly beautiful, but also sad, but also somehow uplifting. I don't know how it works. I'm always crying too much by that point to care. Here's a sample of lyrics. The context is that a character who has AIDS has just woken up after nearly dying, said she saw a friend of the group who had died recently and told her to go back to them. So she's alive for now, but they know she's close to the end of her life. "I can't control My destiny I trust my soul My only hope is just to be" And my current obsession from RENT is Without You, which I think is just one of the most beautiful love songs of all time, and also one of the most perfect songs about grief and loss, because it so perfectly captures those emotions, and it's helped me through a lot. The song 'Video Game Books' by Hank Green is... amazing. It made me cry so much. It's written about John Green's book The Fault in Our Stars, and will admittedly not be nearly as perfect if you haven't read the book. That's one of my favorite songs by Casting Crowns! I also like My Own Worst Enemy. But my favorite band would have to be Falling Up, and my favorite songs tie between three. Broken Heart, Symmetry, and Forms and Shapes :)
