Yes, I've waited awhile to get my license. But, there was really no point for me to drive until now. So, now I'm starting. I'm doing a class, and it's not very interesting. Anybody else doing this "with" me?
Yeah. I just finished the online portion and right now I'm waiting for time slots to open so I can start my actual driving lessons. I'm excited. :) I've had my permit for almost two years now, but I've just been way too scared to actually get out there and practice driving for very long.
I am at that stage when I'm done with the driving lessons and I've finished my hours but I still have another month until I can take the license test. (Stupid summer camp making me out of the state for the entire summer and making me late to take my permit test). But then I'll have my full license and I'll be like any other driver just with age restrictions. That's a really scary thought. (Any of you planning to visit L.A., do it in the next month before I am driving).
To everybody that has the option in their state, do the class part online, because in a classroom, it is ridiculously boring, but online you can do it pretty quickly, and I was definitely more prepared than my friends who took the actual class.
Also, I like driving. I hate drivers. Like really? People are mean. Like really? Why are you cussing me out? I'm clearly a teenager. I'm clearly lost. AND I WASN'T BELOW THE MINIMUS SPEED LIMIT.
Also, traffic sucks. I am SO ready to go East for college and the rest of my life. I JUST WANT SOME DECENT PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION! What is your problem L.A.? Get with it.
Stick with it you guys! It's annoying and sometimes a bit frightening and there are some seriously tempermental people out there, but when you're driving yourself around while all your friends are griping and moaning about how unfair it is that you're driving while they never bothered to start going through the process... yeah, you'll be glad you did it. I live in BC and it currently takes 3 years to get a full driver's license so here especially, the sooner you start, the better. It's not like you have to drive everywhere, after all.
Anyways, keep going because that first time you get in a car and drive away by yourself, it just feels like freedom :)
Also, at the person driving a stick: Whoohoo! Standard buddies unite! You're the first person my age I've met who's learned (going to learn?) on a standard. It's a pain in parking lots and on hills until you get used to it but it's definitely a lot more fun :D
I'm in too.... I won't be allowed to drive on my own for another year.... but I wouldn't have the chance to get my mothers car if I waited till I would be allowed to drive on my own ( insurance and stuff.... germany is complicated)
I think I understood everything I did so far and I fear theory lessons are going to be easy .... and everyone tells me I won't have problems with passing the excams... but still I am nearly dying... I am just so nervous.... I wasn't behind a driving wheel yet.... next week maybe...
Ok... I am going back to studying (for the theory test... not for latin which is far more important ...)
Yay! I am not alone! I took my permit test just the other day and passed! Yay! So, now I need to get my permit so I can start the actual behidnthe wheel stuff. I'm a bit nervous. Actually, okay, I'm TERRIBLY nervous. :)
I feel like I'm doing things backwards (which I guess I technically am) because I'm not even old enough to get my permit, yet I've already done a bit of actual driving on a back road that hardly ever gets used.
It's okay, you're not alone. I started learning to drive in parking lots and back streets a couple years before I had any sort of a license/permit. And even before that, when I was a kid, my dad would let me sit on his lap and do all the steering when we went to my cousin's house which was in the same neighborhood. I was young enough that I thought the car handled all the gas, break, and shifting :P

I'm going to sit in the drivers seat for the first time this weekend..... o_O I'm terrified at the moment but I hope it will drop quickly. I am certain I will not make the same mistake a lot of my friends ("friends") did and drop the wheel xD
First night freeway driving yesterday. o.o I've done freeway driving. I've done night driving, But that was scary. I've never seen people going that fast on the freeway. I was going like 70 and I was still the slow one...
Maybe I'll just give up on this whole license thing. I feel like I would like driving more if it weren't for the other cars...
TOday I am going to sit on the drivers seat the first time and the first real lesson will be on wednesday.... I am so scared .... And I am the only on knowing things in theorylessons.... at least I know as much as one who is allowed to take the theorytest already.... I have not even studied yet ....
I did my first actual driving session on Thursday and it went really well! It helped that I already have 9 hours of practice. :P He said my next lesson would be on "country driving" which is AWESOME. Because I absolutely rock at driving on country back roads.

I could have gotten my permit last month but I didn't know anything so I didn't take the test. I probably ought to get started on that, as I have to hold my permit for nine months before I can get my license.
Classroom time is horrible. We're shown a PowerPoint that covers very little information and are then given the answers to the workbook instead of actually being taught.
I started my drivers ed last monday. It's in a really cold abandoned church basement and the teacher tells tons of stories of car crashing among teen. It's kind of annoying sometimes.
Anywho, I'm taking my permit test monday! Kinda freaked out about driving...
Anyone else starting Driver's Ed?

Re: Anyone else starting Driver's Ed?
Since my older sister is getting her license tomorrow, I'll be starting very soon. o.o
Re: Anyone else starting Driver's Ed?
I will be soon... *gulps* My parents want me to get a job when I'm 16. Which means I have to drive. And whoop, I get to drive the stick. :|
