Hello my darling rainbow-coloured dearests, this is a safe haven for all you gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, asexual, trans*, poly, pan, questioning, fabulous wonderful creatures (straight allies are more than welcome!) to hang out, chat, and help each other through the turmoil that is NaNoWriMo 2011.
HERP DERP I POSTED MY INTRO JUST A FEW HOURS BEFORE THE FORUM WIPE. I AM LE SMART.
Fortunately I copypasta'd it to a word document, because my psychic powers told me to:
I'm Crow, 19, female pronouns, gay as a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide, currently locked in a state of hokey-pokey with the closet (you put your right foot in, you take your right foot out...) I'm a college freshman and I live in a designated queer dorm and I LOVE IT.
I am a fandom-y person so I must ask: anyone here into Fullmetal Alchemist or No. 6? FMA is my forever fandom and No. 6 is my most recent obsession. By some stroke of luck most of my roommates are already FMA fans (SCORE) and I'm currently attempting to inflict No. 6 on them, because extremely heterosexual (so very hetero) slow-dance scenes between two boys are always relevant, and I want to make them all terrified of bees.
Also, anyone else have a tumblr? I'm Crowmunculus and I post mostly fandom BS and gay things :B
YESSSSSSS. This October actually marks my four-year FMAversary - I know people who've been in the fandom way longer, sure, but uh four years is about a fifth of my life, and that sounds way more impressive in my head! :D;
Do you prefer any one continuity over another? I love all the FMA canons equally: manga, Brohood, first anime - not a lot of first anime fans still kicking around anymore, but I'm still here.
I'm pretty sure Hughes is universally mourned. Sobbing your eyes out over him is totally a rite of passage in the fandom. A few years ago I indoctrinated a friend into the fandom, and managed to keep his brain free of spoilers - Hughes was his favorite character, and he'd go on and on about how awesome he was, and I just kept cringing inside, waiting for him to get to the relevant chapter. IT TRAUMATIZED HIM, THE POOR BOY.
I was unspoiled when I watched animeV1 the first time, and it completely took me aback. I was in mourning the rest of the week! You woulda thought I'd learned from episode 7 that ANYONE CAN DIE and properly braced myself for the possibility, but nooooo.
I was braced against a certain death at the end of episode 50 because I was spoiled for it, but I didn't know that He Got Better, and yes I fully admit to sobbing uncontrollably, outright weeping in front of my computer screen, and because when I'm upset my nose bleeds I of course start bleeding on everything. GOOD TIMES.
For me, crying is a rare occasion. Ever since I was a little kid the other kids at school made me "realize" that-as I say- crying's for wusses. So I've gotten pretty good at holding it in. But when Hughes died...i cried SO HARD. Just as much as when Ash "died" in the first Pokemon movie.
You've just reminded me, when I have time I need to continue watching No. 6 when I find the time. Liam (Silvertouch) was the one who got me into it. Oh so Hetero...
Whee! Shiny new forum!
Ok, intro. Angel, 16 (17 in 9 days) and i'm gayer than the main characters (Tai & Matt) in the first season of Digimon. Currently playing cards in the closet until high school graduation in June. I suppose i'm cisgendered if I understand the term correctly, with occasional effeminate leanings when I feel the urge. I can't believeci'm applying to colleges while doing NaNo this year. Also, i'm on Tumblr, procrastinating with the same username.
I should be sleeping but Tom & Jerry is too much fun.
YESSS, FINISH NO. 6. But have comfort food of your choice ready for the last few episodes, MAJOR emotional rollercoaster ride. But don't try to eat during the episodes themselves...I got sick to my stomach XD;
SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK. AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE CLASS TOMORROW.
Well yea, about that gay too. I forget they were my first OTP. This was of course after I had my never-ending crush on older TK. Let's not get into that for now. ;)
I know I should, but I DO HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW! It sucks. Half my classes are cancelled Wednesday and I just don't want to go but I totally shot my foot off in talking my mom into into it. I may still be able to watch No. 6 in whatever room they send the snipes to for the day. I'll just sit by a wall so no one sees what i'm watching. They can all shout that i'm watching porn and i'll laugh. I like this idea.
As long as you get to finish it! Me myself my first EVER crush was on Daisuke-er Davis. I tend to use his Japanese name more often then not...I'm not sure why...
Haha, I wasn't made aware of the Japanese names until this year when I discovered Xros Wars. I tend to use the dub names just out of habit, I watched it back when it was on Fox Kids. Well, Daisuke sounds more adorable than Davis.
Sell from the sound of it, there are less episodes than Xros Wars so I could fit it in when not watching Xros Wars 02 (Yuu is my new fictional crush, I'll admit it) or Gokaiger (they're pirates. What more can I say?)
Enter Crow the dream-crusher: there probably won't be a second season, because the anime for the most part followed the novel series which ended this last year ): But *I* am holding out hope for an OVA or two. COME ON STUDIO BONES, DO IT FOR CHRISTMAS. If they do a Chibi Party OVA like they did for FMA, I'll forgive them for everything they've ever done wrong. Everything.
(And there's always post-series fic to fulfill our hopes and dreams! If you ever want any fic recs, I am your bird.)
Nice to meet you too! And YESSS, Good Omens = SHEER EXCELLENCE. -overly dramatic high-five-
True it might not be in keeping with the novel series but it wouldn't the first time that an anime goes off on its own tangent -coughKuroshitsujicough- so there's HOPE. It might be miniscule hope but it's miniscule hope that I'm clinging to.
lol true, true. And this is Studio BONES we're talking about, wouldn't be the first time they've gone wildly off on a tangent and made it something wildly different but still awesome -coughFMAfirstanimecough-
your school has designated queer dorms?! i think i love your school. out of curiousity, where do you go?
also this post would not be complete if i didn't mention that your hokey-pokey metaphor is absolutely brilliant. same with the monkeys and the tree.
(sidenote: i have tumblr, and i totally just followed you because oh my gosh FMA and danny phantom yessss. my username is beautyhorrors, so that you're not wondering who the weird stalker that just followed you out of nowhere is.)
I go to Evergreen, a public liberal arts college. The queer apartment thing is actually new this year, and came about after a nice bit of drama last year - long story short, last year this building was advertised as the gender neutral building, so in addition to attracting trans* people who didn't want to be segregated by sex, it drew in some crappy non-ally straighties who equated "co-ed" with "lots of sex." You can see where this is going. Queerphobia (is that a word?) and drama ensued, and the college wound up making more co-ed buildings and designating this one as being for queer students and dedicated allies.
I love the school but I'm pissed off at the administration right now for this unrelated current drama and the totally inappropriate way they're dealing with it, but that's another rant entirely...
The hokey-pokey metaphor is all me, but the tree full of monkeys is a line I stole from the wonderful book Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT IT IS AMAZING. Thanks! :'D And also thanks for the follow on tumblr, I'll go check yours out as well!
oh wow, i can see how that situation would be, uhm. not fun at all. i'm sorry it wound up like that. drama with homophobes getting all up in your living space is not a good thing in the least. :/ at least you managed to get the situation fixed though. a queer dorm sounds like it'd be pretty awesome. ' 3'
oh gosh, i've had that book on my to-read list for like, a year haha. my to-read list is so long. i might have to move it up on the list just because of the money metaphor, because it is absolutely beautiful lol.
The first paragraph of your introduction made me laugh pretty hard. xD "Gay as a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide" is the best simile I've heard all week.
I read the first couple Fullmetal Alchemist books, but I never got very far. I enjoy the story a lot, though.
I have a tumblr, too, but I don't update much. I'm trying to fix that... ghostinthecostume.tumblr.com is the URL. It's my way of combining writing and cosplay into one.
Since we have a spiffy new thread, I guess we're doing introductions again~ My irl name is Jenna, I'll go by anything from just J to Waffle, whatever works. I'm a freshman in high school, proud member of our GSA and I'm always questioning my sexuality and gender identity, but for now I've settled on pan. Feminine pronouns would be fine for now~
I suppose I should (as creator of the thread) introduce myself to the newcomers:
Isabelle/moth/Belle (whichever is easiest for you guys), 17, cisgendered queer female, Australian, Lord of the Rings fanatic, tea-drinker (as well as imbiber of more, shall we say, interesting beverages). I'm more than a little violent and expect huge feminist rants.
Now I do believe the magic words of 'game' 'of' 'thrones' was mentioned just before the forum wipe. I WANNA RAVE ABOUT IT SO MUCH IT'S BRILLIANT
I specialize mainly in late-Victorian American history with a little bit of London-specific history for the same time... because I based my sci-fi city on a messy combination of New York City and London circa 1896.
I'm August. 19, male, bi & trans. I'm all full-time and stealth and crap despite the fact that I'm not sure if my family, who lives in a different country, even knows. Christmas with them might be a bit awkward! I don't know if I'll stick around here for Nano because I'll be 20 by then (dear god, how) but nothing is currently happening in that forum.
I'm also a uni student, a terrible spendthrift, really into travel, hiking, languages, politics, skiing, and billions more things, except for fandoms. I don't think my brain is cut out for them. I have a plot which, while completely fictional and absurd, still has enough similarities to real life that I can just sit back and let my friends unknowingly do the research for me (eg, practical issues with getting pieces of furniture onto various roofs, etc). I can't decide between first and third person.
...Seriously? I need to put the full one up, but it's too terrible still. I'm glad someone thinks it might be interesting, though, because I feel like this is the most ordinary Nanowrimo plot I've ever had.
Hey, it's Laura :) I posted exactly one time on the old thread the day before the wipe. Go me!
Anyway, I'm a straight ally. I'm 18 and I'm a freshmen in college. At least for now, my major is nursing. I'm planning on a high fantasy with elements of satire because I'm a cynic like that. Last year was the first time I attempted NaNo, and I failed miserably because I was just winging it... Not this year, though. My region's ML goes to my school, so he can kick my ass if I get lazy like I did last time. 8D
Side note, completely unrelated to this thread: Zachary Levi is my hero. I'm watching Chuck right now... Every time I start a new episode, I wonder what real CIA agents think of that show.
I don't like going into detail when introducing myself but I will say that I'm an avid reader and a fandom- and musical-lover. And in all honesty it's my first time ever participating in the LGBT threads here on the forums--appropriate for National Coming Out Day, I guess? It's nice to meet everyone here.
Name's Ashton, go by Ash, Appingo, Appi, etc. 18, female, USA citizen that's asexual biromantic who's family usually thinks I'm throwing the words around just to show off my vocabulary. Start college in January as a Linguistics major, have absolutely no idea what I'm getting myself into. Besides languages/writing/reading, I like history a fair bit. Spent the entirety of September backpacking in the UK for cultural experiences and writing research, with some visiting friends on the side.
This year's NaNo is a novel idea I've been working on for awhile that's been several different reincarnations, but I think I've finally settled on something. Without school in the way, I figured it's about time I get it all down on paper and just say 'screw it' to my inner editor. I'm not aiming for 50k ('cause I know it'll go over), I'm aiming for complete first draft (god why...).
ooh hello! I'm Alice, college student and queer. I remember this place from last year when all I did was gather the courage to post once and then disappear, it's nice to be here now that I've figured myself out substantially more. I like Doctor Who and all those shows that often go with it - Torchwood (of course), Supernatural, Sherlock, etc. - as well as Suits, Hawaii Five-0, anime, webcomics, and k-pop. I like languages and I want to go to a lot of different places in the future. I am v friendly and it's nice to meet you all!
*pokes head in thread* Hi I'm Morgan (or Momo, Himeko, Berry-Kitsune, chances are I'll response to pretty much anything) I'm 17 years old and I'm a lesbian. Right now trying to survive senior year of high school and apply to college. Besides writing I like cosplaying, dancing, playing piano, watching Korean dramas and doing origami.
This years NaNo if I can manage to do it is a very special story to me. I've been wanting to write it for the past two years and I'm hoping it will be able to get done, or at least the first draft.
I'm sorry :( try to remind them that nobodies hurting anybody by getting married or being in love; and that even if it were a choice (which is the weirdest idea, to me) they need to respect peoples choices and let them live their lives. Just a few more years until graduation, right? Best of luck!
The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Hello my darling rainbow-coloured dearests, this is a safe haven for all you gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, asexual, trans*, poly, pan, questioning, fabulous wonderful creatures (straight allies are more than welcome!) to hang out, chat, and help each other through the turmoil that is NaNoWriMo 2011.
Let the games begin!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
New forums! Yay!
Not so sure I'm liking the new layout.
To those that know me, HI!
To those that don't, Hi! I'm Leah. Or Alice. Either works. Lesbian. Computer nerd. Certifiably insane. (:
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Ohey, trans*, pan, boy here. My novel is actually about a trans* boy. :)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Has anyone noticed how there's no movies I've ever heard of that are kids' movies that have LGBTQA characters?? Weirdness.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I'm in! Hey Belles!
MAY THE ODDS BE IN OUR FAVOUR THIS NANO.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Haha I wasjust about to post something like that!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Oh my god, hello. This is exciting and new, isn't it?
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Helloooo. God I love my timezone right now; it's still a perfectly sane hour where I can stare at the new forums as long as I want.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Ooh, where are you? I'm Australian-nearly 6pm here :D

Ditto on giving all love to every continuity. Also, Hughes. Was anybody NOT upset over his death? 'Cause I don't think so.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Love ALL the continuities? I LIKE YOU -clings-
I'm pretty sure Hughes is universally mourned. Sobbing your eyes out over him is totally a rite of passage in the fandom. Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
-clings back- I'm the same way with FMA as I am with MY forever fandom Hellsing. Which continuity is better? Who cares!? All three are awesome!
And I KNOW how the guy feels! I was traumatized too! D:

So sad No. 6 had to end as soon as it did. I'm staying in denial and holding out hope for a second season.
Nice to meet, you by the way. Love the Good Omens quote you have there.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Enter Crow the dream-crusher: there probably won't be a second season, because the anime for the most part followed the novel series which ended this last year ): But *I* am holding out hope for an OVA or two. COME ON STUDIO BONES, DO IT FOR CHRISTMAS. If they do a Chibi Party OVA like they did for FMA, I'll forgive them for everything they've ever done wrong. Everything.

Nice to meet you too! And YESSS, Good Omens = SHEER EXCELLENCE. -overly dramatic high-five-
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
True it might not be in keeping with the novel series but it wouldn't the first time that an anime goes off on its own tangent -coughKuroshitsujicough- so there's HOPE. It might be miniscule hope but it's miniscule hope that I'm clinging to.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
lol true, true. And this is Studio BONES we're talking about, wouldn't be the first time they've gone wildly off on a tangent and made it something wildly different but still awesome -coughFMAfirstanimecough-
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
your school has designated queer dorms?! i think i love your school. out of curiousity, where do you go?

Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I go to Evergreen, a public liberal arts college. The queer apartment thing is actually new this year, and came about after a nice bit of drama last year - long story short, last year this building was advertised as the gender neutral building, so in addition to attracting trans* people who didn't want to be segregated by sex, it drew in some crappy non-ally straighties who equated "co-ed" with "lots of sex." You can see where this is going. Queerphobia (is that a word?) and drama ensued, and the college wound up making more co-ed buildings and designating this one as being for queer students and dedicated allies.

' 3'
oh gosh, i've had that book on my to-read list for like, a year haha. my to-read list is so long. i might have to move it up on the list just because of the money metaphor, because it is absolutely beautiful lol.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
The first paragraph of your introduction made me laugh pretty hard. xD "Gay as a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide" is the best simile I've heard all week.
I read the first couple Fullmetal Alchemist books, but I never got very far. I enjoy the story a lot, though.
I have a tumblr, too, but I don't update much. I'm trying to fix that... ghostinthecostume.tumblr.com is the URL. It's my way of combining writing and cosplay into one.
It's good to meet you! =D
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
GOOD OMENS REFERENCE! that is all :D
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
NO 6?!! YESSSSSSS!! Finally I found someone else! My anime club is currently engaged in watching that and I love it :)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
You quoted Good Omens. Also that's one of my very favorite quotes from ever. Hee :)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I'm entertained by the GO reference and the hokey-pokey with the closet thing :D. (Also, FMA FTW.)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
MY PICTURES ARE NOT LOADING RIGHT. -wallbash- WHYYYYY.
Oh well, time to calm down and try to fix things up better.
Reintroductions! Lec - cismale, 16, queer/gay. Hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, comics, anime and manga. Nice ta meet'cha.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I love how it's still somewhat early.
Since we have a spiffy new thread, I guess we're doing introductions again~ My irl name is Jenna, I'll go by anything from just J to Waffle, whatever works. Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
DOOOOO EEEEEEEET! lol BTW, whatever you choose, I hope you can make it! I'm pansexual myself.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Seconding the DO EEEET, and some well-wishing on your soul-searching for identity :) Whatever you decide on, I'm sure you'll rock it!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)

Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Is new so is bracing self for the answer I get when I ask, what game?
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Game of Thrones! It's a brilliant show, it's totally marvellous, I love it adore it worship it.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I...don't watch television. I'm ALWAYS on the internet. Or listening to music.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Huge feminist rants are always relevant :D
And tea is also good. Most of my roommates are also tea drinkers, and our communal tea cabinet is overflowing with the stuff. LIVIN' THE GOOD LIFE.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I love quick reply. :D
I'm Laura, lesbian, uh, yeah. :P Obviously a teen, otherwise I wouldn't be here.
I think I have a date on Friday. :D
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Congrats Mars!
How did it happen? -leans in to listen all friendly-like-
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Well, she's already agreed to be my girlfriend - but I like dates :P
As to how she asked me out? That's an incredibly awkward story xD
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
ooooh, good luck! Hope it goes well ^.^
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I'm Jack :3 I show up every year for November and bits of October, and then I vanish.
I'm a little old for this forum at 18, but being as I am on break from college until January, I don't fit with the uni students. Teens it is.
I'm a gay/bisexual transman and if given the opportunity I will talk your ear off about history.
Also, being as it's Coming Out Day, I'm going to come out to my mom. And oh god I'm nervous.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Good luck! :D I'm out to my parents here!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Eh, I'll be 20 in a few months, I'm kinda old for this forum too but this thread is too awesome to pass up.
Best of wishes and good luck in coming out! (anatomically incorrect HTML hearts go here)
Also, what type of history? I love history, but I only know a little bit of it...GO AHEAD AND TRY TO TALK MY EARS OFF, I AM THE *QUEEN* OF TEAL DEER!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I specialize mainly in late-Victorian American history with a little bit of London-specific history for the same time... because I based my sci-fi city on a messy combination of New York City and London circa 1896.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Oh yeah National Coming Out Day! I almost forgot with all the excitement of the new site.
Good luck to you~ I'm going to try coming out to my Dad in the morning, I came out to my Mom a few months ago but closets suck.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
You are incredibly cool. Also, good luck :)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Ah, yes. Introductions.
Hi.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I just want to say that your novel synopsis sounds hilariously awesome.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
...Seriously? I need to put the full one up, but it's too terrible still. I'm glad someone thinks it might be interesting, though, because I feel like this is the most ordinary Nanowrimo plot I've ever had.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Hey, it sounds cool to me.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
And since your name is the same as mine, I love you. :P
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Hi, I'm Amanda, 19, lesbian.
I don't like going into detail when introducing myself but I will say that I'm an avid reader and a fandom- and musical-lover. And in all honesty it's my first time ever participating in the LGBT threads here on the forums--appropriate for National Coming Out Day, I guess? It's nice to meet everyone here.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Quick introductions? Okay, got this.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
The minute I saw Torchwood, Doctor Who, anime and kpop I instantly had to reply. Yay another person with all of those interests!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Supernatural? Question: Dean/Cas, Sam/Dean, and/or Sam/Cas? I'm a huge Destiel fan, but I'm cool with the other ships, too.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
SHERLOCK......Yeah, it's cool, I respect you :)
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Supernatural, Sherlock, doctor who, torchwood, k-pop, anime. God I think I love you
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
*pokes head in thread*
Hi I'm Morgan (or Momo, Himeko, Berry-Kitsune, chances are I'll response to pretty much anything) I'm 17 years old and I'm a lesbian.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Hi, I'm Jess. I'm 14, bi, and I fangirl people. I'd say more but it's 2 am and I have school tomorrow, so. :P Hi!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Also - Crow, dearest, I also have a tumblr - vagin-dente.tumblr.com is mine. Just fyi ^.^
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I keep forgetting who's that is xD I just see it on my dash and I'm always like "...that was a NaNo person, right?"
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Aha, yeah, it's a little insane sometimes, but then again, so am I.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
Ugh, annoyed. Topic of gay marriage came up at dinner. NONE of my family support it and ALL think that being gay is a choice.
It's like, shoot me now. Please.
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
I'm sorry :( try to remind them that nobodies hurting anybody by getting married or being in love; and that even if it were a choice (which is the weirdest idea, to me) they need to respect peoples choices and let them live their lives.
Just a few more years until graduation, right? Best of luck!
Re: The Rainbow Coven (LGBTQA etc)
This thread always moves so fast, but since it's still somewhat reasonable I'm gonna jump in ^^
Bramble/Jays (or whatever you want to call me), 16, female, confused (probably bi).
Also on Tumblr as bramblepath.
