Do you have one? What does it look like? How long have you had it and how did it become a writing hat? If you don't have one, or were going to get another, what would you really want?
I don't have a writing hat, but it is an interesting idea and I am thinking about looking into it.
I have a writing hat. I got mine for christmas too! It's a black faux fur Russian ushanka hat, or bomber hat. One of my characters for next Nano or the novel I'm going to write soon because I can't wait wears that exact hat, so I think it will help my story along. Well, not that exact hat. My mom said it couldn't have a Soviet Union badge. It's close enough. :D I love it.
Mine is a black fedora. :D I've had it for two years now, I think. My friend gave it to me for my birthday, and it became a writing hat because my youngest brother was going through his 'hats taste good!' phase at the time and I didn't want it to get eaten (or dumped in the toilet), so I would wear it at night when I was writing and he was asleep.
I don't have a writing hat, but I do wear hats on a regular basis.
The hats I like most are baseball type hats. Ideally they have pin-on buttons with quotes or 'cute' comments. (My current favorite has two sayings on opposite sides. One is a fantasy comment, the other is a science comment.)
I don't really wear hats when I write, but if I do start, it's going to be my nice, warm Leonardo of the Ninja Turtles hat, or my trilby. Childhood favoritism vs. class. Decisions, decisions.
I went and got a hat! Just in time for the Feb/March 60k challenge (I am so excited about the challenge it isn't even funny!) It looks like the cookie monster and has long soft tassels. And it fits under my headphones! It actually makes them more comfortable!
Funnily enough, I almost always wear a hat when I go out, but not for writing, unless a hood counts. I wear hoodies in the house and I put my hood up when I'd doing some serious writing!
During most of Nano i wore this ratty, pea-soup green beanie while I wrote, but that was just because my house is freezing. But I gave up on that because I do NOT look good in a beanie and I got a laptop so I can write in my warm room.
But I do have a pair of glasses I always wear when I'm trying to concentrate (so, homework and writing) because they make me feel smart (even if they're fake and I don't actually need glasses at all). Yeah...
I bought a hat recently, and decided I'm wearing it whenever I write because I like it so much. It's grey, and it's like an old Military hat? At least that and maybe a Train engineer is what I think of when I see it. I find it comfy to wear, and the brim on the front is low enough that it makes me just concentrate on the screen and not looking over it at the TV :P

Re: Writing Hats
For Christmas, my brother made me a hat like Finn's from Adventure Time. It's soft, fleece, well made and helps me get my think on!

My writing hat.
Only one in the world!
Re: Writing Hats
That's awesome!
Hmm... my next knitting project? I don't actually wear hats in the house, but I do on the way to work, and I write while on the train...

My writing hat in its resting place on the head of my Dolphin. The Ramen on the left and the Knuckles on the right both belong to my Roommate.
Re: Writing Hats
You and your roommate are awesome!
Re: Writing Hats
It kind of reminds me of Finn's hat from Adventure Time :3
Re: Writing Hats
I might get/make a straw hat like Luffy's in One Piece.

Re: Writing Hats
I have a Jagermeister beanie that I wear a lot. :3 I don't know if it helps me think but I feel more comfortable wearing it.

Re: Writing Hats
I can't wear a hat when I'm writing, 'cause when I try concentrating, my hand always ends up in my hair, twirling it around like nobody's business.
