For those who are still writing (or like me, started a new story), where will your characters be at the end of the book/series?
My MMC will be lost and alone in an apocalyptic wasteland. My FMC will lose all of her memories and become a shell of her former self. My SFC will die in an explosion. My antagonist will be shot in the head. (Yes, it's a sad ending)
My FMC will be standing in a destroyed city with a few other characters that helped her get to that point. She'll also realize that the MMC helped her, not went against her and the others. My FMC and MMC will go off together in a semi-working dirigible to a much better place, after saying goodbye to the others. The anti-hero is left in the destroyed city.
My FMC and MMC will have found their daughter and be reunited, but she dies not long after. But in doing so, she will finally be reunited with her parents (yes, her parents are alive, but also dead).
My FMC will realise she's not as clever as she thinks she is, but is grateful to have her best friend back. My MMC will be a bit more careful in his work, and will be overjoyed with the return of his wife. My FSC will be thankful to be back and thankful that she was saved. antagonist will end up poor and alone (that sounds waaay worse than it actually is)
Actually finished my 2011 novel but it seems like there will be a sequel:
First MC and second MC go on a new adventure that will hopefully involve more magic, more dangerous situations and a lot more fighing. First MC will be a pro-mage in the future as well as co-adventurer to the second MC, who is still a trickster and generally awesome at fooling everyone. Second MC will get a better control of his un-awesome super powers that he wanted to get rid off in the first story. FSC might cross the other MC's part. This time hopefully with a truly evil antagonist or something like that.
My MC will start piecing together the clues about his past. He will also be one step closer to understanding immortality :P fantasy all the wayyyy, yo!!!!
My MCs from last NaNoWriMo, listed in order of importance.
My Narrator will likely travel around the country he helped restore (even if he doesn't like the scenery) and probably retire near the capital. My "heroine" will have her hands full getting her country in running order again. Being queen isn't easy, but if anyone can do it, it's her. The heroine's bodyguard will stand by her side through it all and once things settle down... marry her. My Narrator's foil will probably go back west with her sister, but I wouldn't put it past her to meet up with him again, perhaps on more than friendly terms.
My NaNo had something like 20 characters that could be considered "main," so I'll just leave it at those four.
To simplify things, I'll just talk about the story I'm working on right now. This is only for the current story, and NOT about the sequel I have in mind:
Jackie will return to her normal life as a SWAT sniper, only now she has a pet. Victor and Jinx will move in together, hoping to have a happy life together. Despite missing an arm and having combat magic, Victor returns to the dojo to keep up his job as an instructor. Jinx, now a mage of the spoken word, will continue to work at the bookstore where she first discovered the tome that started everything, only now she can use magic to help get things done.
Where everyone will be at the end of the second book has yet to be seen.
My MCs from last NaNo... My MMC will be completely and utterly broken, and will most likely commit suicide off-stage. My FMC1 will be dead and the FMC2, even though she has survived the battle, probably got horribly injured and will have a burning desire to revenge all the dead, so she won't ever be able to live a happy life. The SMC will be the only one to survive without major injuries, but he'll completely lose it when he finds out the rebellion failed and will go mad. Every character who dares to come near me instantly wins a free horrible fate. I'm like the lottery, only with sadism.
For my NaNo last year: Main Character - She escapes the planet after being nearly burned to death to discover that her theory was true. Impact Character - Rescues Main Character and leaves the planet with her. Antagonist - Sentence to death for false accusation.
For "The Seraphim Protocol" Main Character - Survives with a messed up arm and is forced to make a life changing decision Impact Character - Naw, you have to read the manuscript, I'm not telling Contagonist - Dead. D-E-D DEAD!
For "Advent Overkill" Main Character - Is left with Overkill entering his room. (Pssst, seeing Overkill is never a good thing. *wink, wink*) Overkill (Impact Character) - It's stated pretty early; he never fails, never makes mistakes and absolutely never stops. He makes the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Terminator seem like a quitter.
My main characters will be bound to each other through an ancient set of blood vows but will bot be together.
My FMC, Serenity, will rule her country as the new queen, and help two races build there trust into one community. She will keep a great secret and this makes me respect her so much, others too I'm sure. It shows how much she truly loves the MMC.
My MMC, Allister, will be the king he was destined to become, the king his country has needed for centuries. He will rule fairly and give woman back their own rights. He will also teach his men the value of life and how respect not power is what is honorable.
The FMC's father, Cassius, will finally start to see his daughter (now the queen) as a true heir to the throne, instead of hating her for not being a son.
The MMC's father, Allieric, was killed before the end.
The MMC's best friend, Cecil, was not who he thought he was and also dies.
The MMC's mother, Eunice, now a widow, finally gets to have a choice in who she lives her life with.
The Pharaoh, returns to his land and destroys all of his research, leaving the original twins forever protected from humans.
Trista, stays with Sera, I guess worst enemies can become best of friends.
Bristol is returned to her family.
Gabriel, a fire elemental, is still untrusting of all.
Those are my main people, I really didn't think I had so many.
My first main character, after finally finding a backbone and a real purpose in life, will probably end up dead on the battlefield, having fought for the freedom of his country to the end. They could break his body, but not his spirit.
My second main character, after nearly killing his daughter and leaving a sorely distraught wife to pick up the pieces of their ruined marriage, goes insane, murders one of the antagonists, and spends the rest of his life in jail.
As for the many minor antagonists and antagonistic politicians, they all end up entirely bereft of all their power, and at the mercy of a bloodthirsty mob of revenge-seeking citizens.
I have rather mixed feelings about this ending. It's sadistic. But very, very satisfying.
Vioanary (FeMC1) will go on to get a job working at her favorite anime-producing company. Altantsetseg (FeMC2) will become an aeronautical engineer. Liese (SideMC) will continue her singing career and then play the stock market game, ultimately bankrupting herself, thus forcing her to live with Vioanary and work at a coffee shop.
The side characters will probably go their various ways.
For my Nano novel: My FMC was killed The FMC's love interest got killed My MC (technically MMC, but he's not human, so...) got lost between time and space And I think the antagonist kind of won...
And the one I'm working on now: The FMC will escape prison on the imprisoned dragon she became the Second Rider of My MMC (who is the FMC's love interest) gets jailed for helping them And the MMC's dying sister was sent to our world to be (hopefully) saved. Either that or she infects the whole world with a foreign disease. I can't decide.
My FMC's fate is up to the reader. In the end, she has a bullet left she decides to use on herself, but she mentions something about how fate has teased her, and mentions Russian Roulette, and how her bullet may be blank. So it's completely up to the reader to decide if it was blank or not. Only I know the truth XD My MMC's dead, shot in the chest My antagonist is dead, shot in the head
(For the rest I'll go by names of my characters)
John's dead, killed in an explosion Doc's okay, survived Matthew's dead, MMC killed him Ricky's okay, survived Lina's okay, survived Danny's okay survived Luke's okay, survived Henry's dead, killed by John Jack's okay, survived, marries Jessie Jessie's okay, survived, marries Jack Max's okay, survived, but is still struggling to get over Nikki Nikki's dead, killed in an explosion Emily's okay, survived
MMC and FMC finally get married at the end, live a happy life, adopt a child.
For the rest (the ones who are still alive where I am now, end of book 1) I'll go by name.
Imogen is reunited with her daughter and settles down with Daeron. Daeron is happy, settles down with Imogen, becomes like a father to her daughter. Celyn is reunited with her mother, has a happy life. Charles ends up dead. Bryce ends up dead. Ella ends up miserable and bitter. Harry ends up dead. David has a happy life. Mack has a happy life.
MC1 shall continue working in the library, however he shall also serve as a magical advisor to royalty and write about his adventures under a pen name. He will go to see his lover, FMC2, whenever he can and they shall go on more great and magical adventures together. MC2 and FMC1 shall be married and live a long and happy life. FMC3 shall travel the world, retire to the countryside and continue solving mysteries into her old age MC3 shall become mayor, and FMC4 his wife. Antagonist1 shall be stabbed Antagonist2 falls from a great height and dies Antagonist3 is turned to stone Antagonist4 is buried under the burning rubble of a falling building.
In other words, I'm nice to my protagonists (well, most of them) and not so nice to my antagonists :)
MMC's girlfriend will leave him and he will become a mad scientist, sucumbing more and more to his OCD, and becoming more and more bitter, eccentric, and secluded from everyone. (And he's one of the good guys.) MMC2 is a robot and he explodes. FMC will become a world-renowned inventress and greatly improve society with an invention that I don't say what it is. FMC2 will become an explorer and have many fun adventures around the world. FMC3 dies from a bullet wound inflicted by the antagonist. FMC4 is a robot and she takes care of her aging mother (long story, her mother is human and she's a robot) and has a pretty good life since she's basically indestructable. Antagonist effectivelly gets amnesia.
My MMC will survive, but suffer immense guilt and possibly be followed around by two people only he can see for the rest of his life My FMC and MMC2 (the two people mentioned above) will suffer extreme sexual tension for the rest of their lives, and possibly be in a realtionship that the reader can only guess about. They will proceed to drive the MMC mad by following him around for the rest of his life My FMC2 will most probably be dead. My main-minor character will be alive, and proceed to try and catch up on weeks of college work he's missed My Antagonist will probably be stabbed... possibly shot... and die

Re: Where will your characters end up?
It just occurred to me that it will be a miracle if one of my characters (different story) doesn't wind up in jail. Again. For white collar crimes.
Fortunately, he tends to use his powers of theft for good.

First group will die.
Second group will die.
Third group...

Re: Where will your characters end up?
For Nano '11. Hmm...
MC will reconcile with love interest.
Ex-girlfriend of MC will move on.
Henry and Madeline with try to pursue a relationship together, but even I wouldn't know...
Re: Where will your characters end up?
All of my rather main characters will have just been tossed back in time about two hundred years. Yes, I'm purposefully ending it on a cliffhanger.
Re: Where will your characters end up?
For my Nano novel:
My FMC was killed
The FMC's love interest got killed
My MC (technically MMC, but he's not human, so...) got lost between time and space
And I think the antagonist kind of won...
And the one I'm working on now:
The FMC will escape prison on the imprisoned dragon she became the Second Rider of
My MMC (who is the FMC's love interest) gets jailed for helping them
And the MMC's dying sister was sent to our world to be (hopefully) saved. Either that or she infects the whole world with a foreign disease. I can't decide.
I really can't write happy endings. :3

My MMC's dead, shot in the chest
My antagonist is dead, shot in the head
(For the rest I'll go by names of my characters)
John's dead, killed in an explosion
Doc's okay, survived
Matthew's dead, MMC killed him
Ricky's okay, survived
Lina's okay, survived
Danny's okay survived
Luke's okay, survived
Henry's dead, killed by John
Jack's okay, survived, marries Jessie
Jessie's okay, survived, marries Jack
Max's okay, survived, but is still struggling to get over Nikki
Nikki's dead, killed in an explosion
Emily's okay, survived
It's a depressing novel
Re: Where will your characters end up?
MMC and FMC finally get married at the end, live a happy life, adopt a child.

Charles ends up dead.
Bryce ends up dead.

David has a happy life.
Mack has a happy life.
That's all I know so far.
