Kick-Off Party

It wouldn’t be NaNoWriMo without a Kick-Off Party! Let’s kick the challenge off in style. There’s loads of giveaways and fun to be had! It’s going to be a packed party.

This year, the KOP has a Detective theme. We have two competitions to get us going:

• Scavenger Hunt! Starts 11:30am prompt, arrive earlier to sign up! Will your team be the fastest to solve the clues and get the right answers?
  


• Costume competition - prizes for the best famous detective costume.

Here’s the lowdown:

Location: Spring Hill Corner, Roma Street Parklands

Date: Sunday 30th October

Itinerary:

• 10:30am - start!
  


• 11:15am - Detective Costume Competition
  


• 11:30am - Scavenger Hunt kicks off
  


• 1pm (approx) - BBQ lunch
  


• 2pm onwards - activities

Bring:

• Sun protection (sunnies, hats, lotion)
  


• Plate of food for BBQ lunch to share
  


• Drink
  


• Seat/blanket (optional!)
  


• For those participating in the Scavenger Hunt: please be prepared to walk around Roma Street Parklands! (bring sensible shoes, bottle of water, etc)

As always, you are welcome to bring along family or friends - no-one has to fly solo! When you arrive, just seek out an ML (we’ll be the ones in the obnoxious yellow t-shirts; you can’t miss us) to receive your goodies, and then relax and enjoy the day!

Aw yeeeeah, NaNo party! And it's pretty much after all my uni stuff finishes! I will be there!

Holy cr*p is it that time of year again?

I'm technically a Canberra NaNoer this year (and the way my November is shaping up, you don't want my wordcount!) but I'm in Brisbane for this weekend, so I'll def try to stop by! Wouldn't be NaNo without a KOP somewhere. :)

I swear, I have the KOP curse... I had a car accident on my way to the KOP last year, I've broken an ankle previously... just not a good thing, lol.

I did make it to my first ever nano KOP, back in the weird old days in the library...

Awesome to see so many of you coming! Even those of you who have absconded to other parts of the country. Always good to welcome old friends. :)

I forgot to mention in the initial post, but the much-loved party bags are returning! We've got lots of stuff to fill them with again this year, free to the first 60 writers who come along!

We've got new Hipster PDAs too, with report cards, calendars, cheat sheets and NaNo survival secrets.

We'll also be holding a raffle at the KOP, with piles of bookish prizes, including some autographed editions!

Will try to get there for a couple of hours, prob not in costume as I have three Halloween photo shoots that day lol. But shall definitely attempt to actually make it this year!!

I'll definitely be there! I think I may have convinced some people from my school to give nanowrimo a try this year, so I may have a posse :)

I'll be coming! Though I'm disappointed the theme isn't Halloween again this year, at least there's still a costume competition. Is it a fashion faux pas if I wear a trenchcoat only two years after I wore one to another KOP?

The poor timing of nano around my uni exams was also a problem last year. Can't make it to this one, but maybe next year!

I would love to come, but I don't know anyone and my writing buddy may not be able to attend :(
