It seems that every third person I've talk to is including dragons in their novel this year. Maybe it's just my friends, or a Nova Scotia thing, or maybe it's spread across all of nanoland.
Are you writing about dragons this year? How are you using dragons? Is your MC a dragon? The antagonist?
Dragons here. Strangely, when I first thought of the dragon idea, I didn't know of that many dragon books out there already, aside from A Song of Ice and Fire. Now I see all kinds. But then, I don't read much fantasy.
My MC is a Dragon and the story is mostly all about him. (obviously... being the MC)
It's just for this year, but the story is focused on A dragon. She's a disguised human who becomes the soon-to-be love interest of a teenage human who is drastically into wrestling.
I have a dragon, too! Two actually, and two dragon-horse-thingies, which are very sweet :) (with talons and big sharp teeth and all the nice stuff!) The two dragons are more like minor characters, who help they respective "riders"/ "leaders". There will be also a dragon fight! Yay for dragons :D, they make awesome stories even more awesome!
Another thing i wanted to point out in my book is the story is actually about a boy who falls in love with a red headed wrestler who secretly is a dragon. I figured Dragons are better when in fewer numbers, so i went ahead and decided there's only going to be two dragons in my story initially with details of their parents later on.
When you think of Dragons, what do you think the most about them? I always admired their Pride. In fiction, i always thought of them as prideful creatures. Burning with a passion to prove themselves superior amongst others for honorable reasons. =)
Did anyone else (besides BirdsMelody, cause when I asked her, she already had) notice that there are dragons being mentioned in the official nano things?
"astride a rad dragon of wordiness" ... "astride a rad dragon of wordiness"
I have been thinking about changing my current working title and I would like your dragony input. I have been using "Let My Dragons Go". I have also considered:
Farwin's Quest The Dragon Liberation Movement Return to Eldamar In Search of Wild Dragons More Than Dragons
Reports are coming in (starting from Robert J. Sawyer - Canadian science fiction author) that Anne McCaffrey, one of the most famous fantasy - dragons in particular - authors, has gone to be with the dragons.
Was waiting for confirmation before posting here :( It's been confirmed by Random House and several authors though nothing has hit google news yet.
2011 The Year of the Dragon?

Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
So, someone should write about some kind of dragon-vampire-and-zombie apocalypse. Catch all the popular sub-genres right now.
Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
Yes to Dragons! Dragons are my antagonists and also, on of my MC (who is too dense to be bitter and evil).

Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
sweet!
rawr :P
Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
Yay for dragon inclusion. Will you also add a mystical "apple with special or magical powers"?
Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
hmmm I don't know, I might. I think the first step will be to work the dragon into cyberpunk
Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
It's only for one year! Don't be ashamed! <3

Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
Can Rory be my plot bunny? Or will I have to get bunny ears for him?
Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
Would Rory let you put bunny ears on him...cause I have a set :)
Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?

Re: 2011 The Year of the Dragon?
Intelligent. All of my dragons (with one notable exception) are very intelligent... and very good at holding grudges.
