Okay, since I'm a doofus and forgot that the forums were going to be wiped on October 10, the previous introduction post got lost. Let's try that again!

My name is Jenn, I'm 25, and I'm a third year student at Queen's (Classics major!) This is my 5th time doing Nano, and my second year as ML. *Looks at 10% finished outline* I don't think I'm ready at all...

Who else do we have this year?

Well I'm 30 working in Kingston and probably as wholly unprepared fro nano as you are.

But yay for classics/history majors, I did my time at Queen's doing that...

I've been waiting for this to pop up! :)

I'm Lauren, or Murphy (though I'll also answer to "Hey, you" and some less polite forms of address). This is my third year doing NaNo, and hopefully my third win---but first I need to finish LAST year's. o__O Some of you might remember my epic 20K dash to the finish last year... well, even after that, I haven't finished the novel yet. So I'm definitely not ready.

When I'm not panicking about NaNo, I'm panicking about my schoolwork. I'm a third year behavioural science student at St. Lawrence College, about to start placement. It's my last year, so here goes nothing!

Hiya! My name is Ronda and this is my second year doing NaNo - though last year I was in the London ON region. No win for last yr because of severe illness and huge writer's block in my genre but lets hope this year will be different!

I'm pumped to get started! I'm working full time at Startek, though want to look into going to SLC for Vet Tech probably next Fall if I'm still here. Fiance and I are in separate areas (he's in Sarnia still) working on saving for a house in Peterborough...yea, sounds more weird than it is I think LOL So, no distractions and I have a week's vacation I am going to be taking during November which should be an awesome bonus for getting to the 50k mark this year!

Outside of my love for writing, I also love drawing and am working on a comic idea and some crafty stuff to sell on etsy and have fun with. I'm Wiccan and Vegetarian and just love animals. I currently have three big sucky boy rats, a bearded dragon, a leopard gecko, and a Betta fish. I also have a cat, but he's with the hubby. Yea, I'm not one for normal pets mostly hehe Can't wait to get started and hopefully chit chat with fellow Kingston NaNo-ers!

I'm sort of back. I won last year for the first time, but it was in a lucky month without many other obligations. That isn't the case this year! But I'll see what I can get to, plugging away. As usual, I'm going to cheat, and see if I can finish last year's project. It worked for me the two years before that!

It seems like November is the only time I actually write in any decent quantity any more. It's like I need the explanation to give to people about why I'm being antisocial. In November, people think it's cool, the rest of the year, they just don't get it.

dal

I've been around since 2007, but only finished novels in the first two of those years. If I can put a Snowflake together before Nov 1 I may try again this year, but it's dicey. I started taking courses at Queen's in 2008, which put quite a constraint on my time in November -- but, hey, that's what NaNo is for, forcing us to spend time on something other than Real Life.

BTW there's no particular reason why people need to tell us anything about their Real Life; I made the faux pas of asking someone for details a couple of years ago, and was reminded of what online handles are for.

Ooh the Snowflake Method? I've tried that before! Never got past the first few steps though...

doot doot.

Here I am. Sporadic nano-doer since 2006. Writing post-apocalyptic urban fantasy (well, if Kingston counts as urban, which real city people keep telling me it doesn't).

murphyslawyer
51509 words so far Winner!

Yeah, my roommate would agree there. She's from Ottawa originally and keeps referring to Kingston as a "small town", which makes me laugh since my hometown has a population of about 3,000.

XD

I grew up in the woods, so Kingston is about as big a city as I can handle.

Asheka

I hear you there! I grew up just outside Spencerville and then only move "up" to Brockville before hubby and I moved to middle of farm country outside of Sarnia, now into Kingston. I've gotten my bus routes down though so am doing okay LOL

I'm Kim, and this is my 10th year NaNoing - been doing it since 10th grade. I'm a freelance illustrator/designer who moved to Kingston to bum around with a bunch of grad student friends and pretend I'm not technically an adult now. I'm writing a sort of fantasy steampunk/dieselpunk mystery thing.

Hi all!
I'm Jasmin, and this is my first year doing NaNo. I used to be a journalism student back in Vancouver many moons ago, but my love for writing got lost in the rigidity of the program. Over the past few years, I have really missed my writing rituals. I thought this would be the perfect way to jump back into it. Although, I am a little nervous that my ideas for my novel aren't fully formed yet.

Hey,

My name's Kyle, I work and live in Kingston. This is my first NaNo and I'm pretty excited to get started. My novel is set in a deep space prison during a mass breakout. Hoping everything goes smoothly, but know that's probably not the case. It's nice to meet everyone, and can't wait to see what you produce.

Hey everybody!

Froshie at Queen's here, freaking about balancing everything. I won NaNo in grade's 9-11, failed miserably last year and am trying to redeem myself now.
Hopefully will be a classics major, maybe history, still really haven't decided.
Also, on the theme of "undecided", let me introduce my novel topic. Since I officially decided to do NaNo all of six hours ago, I'm a little behind there, so we'll see what I can come up with after midterms are done.
If any other Queen's students are lurking, I made us a forum (http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/forums/canada-ontario-kingston/threads/7177) so we can chat there too. Hopefully we can arrange a CoGro writing session once or twice?
See you all around!

Hiya!

I'm Steph, it's my first year doing Nano - or well actually doing Nano. I have just moved to Kingston - work in the fancy new H&M and am really excited to not have anything serious going! I can sit and I can write and I'd love to meet you all and create a lightning storm of keystrokes!

^_^

Hi.

I'm Mitch and it's my first year doing NaNoWriMo. I'm at St. Lawrence College, in year 2 and since I'm in a computer programming program, I'm around the computer... a lot! I'm hoping to get my 50K by end of November but whatever I produce will be a good accomplishment... provided it's over 10K... I have a few ideas for my novel and believe I have chosen which idea I'll follow through with for November. Gotta put my novel info on soon. Can't wait to get started and see what everyone else produces! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I'm Glen. Some of you may remember me as a former Nanoer. I took a year off from it, but this year I plan to return to the keys, especially since my first nano novel is now in print and available at Chapters ("Dancing on the Inside," a children's novel for ages 9-12).

This year I hope to churn out a draft of a sequel.

Also, if you're looking for tips on novel writing, check out my website www.how-to-write-a-book-now.com

Hi! I'm Chloe and this is my fifth time doing NaNoWriMo! I'm a second-year at Queen's majoring in history, and I am really excited for this year! (Lots of exclamation marks in case it wasn't obvious :P) I'm tentatively doing a novel that's basically an amalgamation of a bunch of European fairy tales, but a couple of other ideas are eating my brain, so uh...we'll see!! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone :)

I don't think I've introduced myself here yet, so here we go. I'm Michelle, and I'm a first year at Queen's in general arts. My goal is to major in Film and Media and to minor in French. This will be my first time doing NaNoWriMo, and despite the school work and all the other stuff I have to get done, I'm really hoping I'll be able to reach that 50k goal! :D

So many Queen's students...It's funny, as I'm wondering how many of you I may have seen on the bus since I'm sometimes on the Queen's route for things.

Eirien

My name is Eirien and I'm a Concept Artist.

This is my second year of NaNoWriMo. I wrote a Steampunk themed NaNo novel last year and had a lot of fun with it. I was considering doing a sequel but SP is too mainstream right now for my tastes.

This year I'm working on a collection of stories all woven together into one large NaNo novel to compliment a campaign/story world I'm making for my RPG buddies. It'll be anthro-themed rather than the typical Human/Elf/Dwarf/Orc campaign settings. I'm very excited to craft a completely new world, races and cultures for it all. To top it, I'll be working on landscape art and NPC character illustrations during and after the book is written.

Take care, folks!

My name is David, and I've done Nano four times thus far... only successful last year, in large part because I had an unusually free month. This year, I've got a full-time work schedule to contend with... not to mention that all my free time's been being consumed by the bottomless vortex that is Eve Online. XP

On the plus side, however... I work from home, taking calls, and very frequently have lengthy periods between calls when I don't really have much to do... and since I've got a laptop anyways, I should be able to get some good writing in while 'at work' (technically, I am 'at work' right now), so that should help. Could go either way, really... but a support group of fellow novelists is always useful. :)

Hi, this is my first attempt at Nano (well officially, unofficially I started but then failed to progress due to curveballs thrown by life last year). I have a lot of free time on my hands, and I love to write so I figure I can get the 50k unless my creativity wanes by the end of the month.

I randomly decided to give it a go 2 days ago, got my best friend interested as well, so he's joining me in the challenge too. Another friend is unofficially giving it a try so yay, lots of people to bounce ideas off of and talk to when my brain needs a break. :)

I don't know if I'll make it to the kick-off, but I'll try to attend at least one get together. I look forward to meeting and/or talking with everyone!
