As some of you know, I'm the ML in charge of our chat function - it's where I met some of my closest friends, and it's one of my favourite parts of NaNoWriMo each year. It's busy from early October - now! - until the last few people finally give up on it, which has been pushed further and further each year - this year we were still active on occasion in June! The chatroom is for writing help, and generally for socializing. It can be pretty hectic when you first join, but you can expect a warm welcome every time you enter the room, and if you watch it for a while, you'll pick up the thread of conversation pretty quickly. We also run word wars really often during November - everyone writes for a certain number of minutes, and then compares new wordcount from that time. And really, everyone wins, because we all have new words! Yay! <strong>How to Get to Chat:</strong> The easiest way is to go to <a href="http://www.torontonano.org/WordWar/" rel="nofollow">our site</a> and, from there, click "Chat/WW". You'll be taken to our chat! (Sometimes that widget doesn't load properly - click 'Chat here!" and it should solve the problem.) Log in with your username of choice! If you already use an IRC client, such as Adium or XChat, then the server is irc.mibbit.com, room is #tonano, and port is the default (6667). If all that is gibberish for you, that's fine - use the site above, it's all the same in the end. :) Regardless of how you connect, please read the rules - if you're new and I'm paying attention to chat, I will likely link you to them, but they're in the topic of the room at the top for easy access, as well. We'll give you a warning if you're violating a rule, but we'd rather not have to! If you have any problems, concerns, comments, or questions -- let me know!
