We know that many of your have your own home businesses, Etsy craft stores, theatre companies, blogs, self-published books, etc. Please consider this thread the home of all things self-promotional! It's also a good spot to let us know about interesting activities and events going on in Toronto this fall.
PLEASE keep all self-promotions in either this thread, or in the General (non-Toronto) NaNo forum for promotions.
A quick reminder to everyone - if you've got something to promote or to inform us about that isn't directly NaNo-related, PLEASE POST IN THIS THREAD ONLY. Other threads will be locked and allowed to disappear down the boards.
Nanowrimo Sticker Calendars: This is something I tried last year. I didn't think stickers would provide much motivation past grade3, but it worked incredibly well. Basically, you get a sticker for each day where you reached your wordcount goal, and a smaller sticker for writing at least 250 words. There's also a section for wordcount.
The Sticker Calendars are $3 each, stickers extra. 55% of the profits will be donated to Nanowrimo; the other 45% goes back into Catnip's Writing Resources (catnip4writers.com), a web directory of free tools and resources for writers.
LOLsketch: If you like LOLcats, check out LOLsketch.com .It's just like regular LOLcats, but with drawings instead of photos, because sometimes you just can't get the camera in time :D
LOLsketch is badly in need of contributors, so I will give a free Sticker Calendar to anyone who submits a sketch (doesn't even have to be good) from now until the end of the year, just mention your nano username in your submission. (calendars are good for any year)
Hey, all! I'm one of the MLs this year, but I'm also in the middle of training for a giant charity walk, the proceeds of which are going to cancer research.
You can look at our blog for some more information, or follow us on our Twitter account or Like our Facebook page for more frequent updates or to show your support -- we're hoping to get to 100 Likes by the end of the weekend so that we can show some preliminary support when fundraising, so if you could help us out, that'd be great!
And, of course, if you're able to donate, that would be amazing - all the information is at our main site, and we're able to issue tax receipts in both Canada and the United States. :) If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on our Facebook wall, @reply us on Twitter, or leave a note here/NaNomail me! :D
My name is J.M. Frey and I am a writer, fanthropologist, and professional geek. Two of my past NaNos are with publishers (one is out, one comes out next June), and I would really appreciate it if you'd take a look at them.

Encore, encore!” –Todd McCaffrey, author of The Dragonriders of Pern series

Hey there! I hate self promotions, but in this case I think its really interesting to know what each other are doing, and I love that we already have some published Nanoers here! =) I dreamily wish that one day I will also be among you! =)
In the mean time...my name is Melissa Arnold and I'm a Jewelry Designer. Perhaps some of you girly geeks will love my work, perhaps not. Who knows! :P
I am a Jewelry Designer and Entrepreneur. I am a Member of The Artisan Group and my Jewelry will be on display with GBK's Golden Globes Celebrity Gift Lounge in Hollywood in January, and many celebrities attending the exclusive Gift Lounge will go home with Swag bags from The Artisan Group which will include Jewelry from my Shop - Sahetah's Jewelry.
What am I designing? I design Vintage style Jewelry (Budget friendly) as well as what I call 'feminine Steampunk'. Don't grab your goggles and your your photon beams however, this isn't your average steampunk. This is more feminine and classic geared for 'all' ladies - and sometimes a little more modern. It comes with a price tag - to forewarn you, lol. You will have a chance to see my work first hand as I often go out wearing my designs, so it wont 'just' be me and my Portable Telecalculation Engine for Adventures (laptop) with me!
On top of this, on Nov 5th I will be at the Made By Hand craft show at the International Centre. It will be my last craft show this year as I need to prepare for the Golden Globes event.
Want more info about the Made By Hand show? Visit their website! http://www.madebyhandshow.com/

Sweet! I'll check this out later. I used to draw some webcomics, unfortunately none of them are currently available online, while I rebuild (start from scratch anew) my website.
I'll be reading a small section from my NaNo novel of this year, this Thursday, November 10 · 7:00pm - 10:00pm - The Beautiful & The Damned - at Zelda's on Yonge Street -
I'm a web designer - have been for around 15 years now, after doing predominantly graphic design for print before that (I still do some print design as well). The sites I've done range from small, simple static HTML sites for individuals to custom-built PHP/PostgreSQL web applications for arts organizations, and everything in between - Wordpress blogs, Drupal sites, image galleries, e-commerce sites, etc. Sometimes I work on my own, sometimes in partnership with other designers or developers. I can also host sites, register domain names, etc.
My business site is at www.spidersilk.net, though honestly the design of it hasn't been updated since 2002 or thereabouts, so it's not in itself a great example of my work - the sites listed in the portfolio section, especially the more recent ones, are much better. For some reason, spending most of my waking hours working on other people's web sites leaves me with a distinct lack of enthusiasm for working on my own... Cobbler's children and all that, I guess.
Anyway, I'm willing to make a special offer for NaNo participants: anyone doing NaNo who wants a web site set up to showcase their writing gets a 20% discount off my normal rates. (NaNo participants who want a web sites for something non-writing-related, like their day jobs, feel free to contact me as well - we can work something out.)

The 404s "We've Been Naughty" a Christmas-themed improv show.

Also, still during NaNo, on Sunday November 27th my Conservatory class at The Second City is doing a show on the MAINSTAGE at 3pm. It's either PWYC or FREE. Fun improvised comedy! :D
This is kind of a big event for me so I hope people can see it way down here on the bottom like this...
On November 17th, I will be hosting my official book launch party at the Second Cup on Church and Wellsley. It will be starting at 6:30 and for fun I will be reading the first chapter of my book, Catalyst, and also a short story I wrote called "Twi-Hard". The books will be on sale! If you want one please let me know because I'd love to sell you one! I'm really nervous about this event but I'm hoping that I can get some interest from my favorite writing community! Oh- ps- I'll also have magnets there! The books will be $15 and if you want any more information I have a page on facebook! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=287581824608623

Re: Self Promotion
You can publish your NaNo Novel!
My friend, Jennifer Bogart wrote a NaNo book last year. And then she edited it! And then she self published it on Amazon!
It's a chick lit book. Synopsis "A simple dare. 30 days, 30 new experiences. Be inspired by Willow as she embarks on an adventure of a lifetime."
I am a graphic designer, so I helped her with her cover and she listed me as the Illustrator. So, here's the Kindle link to the book.

Just encouraging you all that you can do it!
