I know we have a spreadsheet for all of the official events, but I've noticed quite a few people adding events that aren't on the list and I'm starting to have a hard time keeping track of everything so I decided to open this thread as a way for people to post their un-official events that they might be hosting last minute.

For instance, tomorrow I will be finishing my work shift at the brand new Second Cup at 544 Church, just south of Wellsley, at 1 and will be writing there for a few more hours. I would love it if anyone would care to join me for a coffee and hopefully a couple thousand words. Good company is always appreciated.

Event: Impromptu write in
Date: November 1
When: 1-4pm
Where: Second Cup Church Street
544 Church Street, just south of Wellsley (2 minute walk from Wellsley station)

I was thinking something like this format just to make things easier to keep track of. (I'm not expecting a huge turn out tomorrow obviously but feel free to stop by!), but it would be nice to have a way to keep track of all of these unofficial events.

If I wasn't working until 4, I would show up for that...it's literally around the corner from where I live.

Anyway, there's a thread for my event, but I'll post it here, too. Good idea, mantaraider!

Magus, Finch station is at Yonge and Finch ;)

The Magus

Well, yes, but presumably it has a street number or an entrance or something. I've only ever seen it from the inside. :)

***ON THE DANFORTH***

There seems to be a lack of meet-ups in the East York area, so a few of us are putting together a weekly get-together on the Danforth. The location will depend on how many of y'all are interested, so please nanomail me your "RSVP" and let me know what times you would work best for you and we'll try to be as inclusive as possible.

Tentative Time = every Thursdays late afternoon (maybe 6-830ish)
Location Options = Re: Reading if five or less people (unless y'all don't mind sitting on the floor)
= Pape library if six or more people (if over 12 we'd be in 2 different areas unless you like the floor)

Both places have a couple electrical sockets available for those who need outlets for their laptops.

Oh, shoot, I can't do Thursdays! I might be able to make it once if I skip out of work VERY early! Thanks for keeping me in the loop! :)

Merry

I could do Thursday evenings, maybe around 7 pm (I have to go home after work and take care of my hound first!). Either location would be good - it's nice of Re: Reading to let us use their space!

I can never really make it to evening things. Random weekday afternoons, but not evenings, alas.

That's a brand new Starbucks. I was this close to accusing you of inventing it. It's right around the corner from my office. So no good today but perhaps in the future.

Bdoing

I was about to say the same thing (as I used to live about a 5-minute walk from there)!

kaluvinar
50027 words so far Winner!

Yeah, it just opened up a couple weeks ago, I think. I work at the Wild Wing that opened up there a couple of months ago. Maybe another time!

Who's up for bringing back the Tuesday night writing sessions at the Starbucks at Bathurst and Steeles?

When: 7-10, every Tuesday night.
How to get there: You can come up to Thornhill by going to Finch Station and taking the #60 bus to Bathurst and Steeles. The bus lets you off right outside a plaza with a gas station and a Country Style. Cross Steeles and follow Bathurst along (going North) for about a minute until you see the glorious lights of Starbucks.

CaptainQuirk
50122 words so far Winner!

Ahahaha... oh, the ironing! A last-minute change to my work schedule means I can't be at Starbucks tomorrow. I do, however, have every intention to make the 15th, 22nd, and 29th.

Shimegami

I live super close to Bathurst and Steeles! Too bad you won't be there tonight. :) I might hit up the Second Cup by Wilson Station instead, unless someone else was planning to go to the Starbucks.

Hey all.
So, yesterday, I was going past Bathurst & Steeles and I saw all the lights were out and a bunch of police cars outside it. Don't know what was happening, but I'll go by again today to see if it was resolved. If so, and they're open for business again, I hope to see you there at 7 tonight :)

CaptainQuirk
50122 words so far Winner!

Okay, I just walked by Starbucks and it is business as usual. I'll be there at 7. I hope to see you there. :)

Would anyone be up for an unofficial Mississauga session either this Saturday (19th) or Sunday (20th) for those of us who aren't attending the overnighter/Are not 18 yet?

I'm thinking the same place we have the normal 'Sauga events at: Panera Bread just outside Square One, whatever time works best for others who want to tag along. I'm flexible!

(Panera Breads: 55 Square One Drive, Mississauga, ON L5B 0E2)

CaptainQuirk

Hi everyone.
It just so happens I've been scheduled to work on Tuesday night. Regarding the Bathurst and Steeles writing session, I won't be there. If someone else wants to host it, please do so.

I'm gonna have a lot of fish from class tomorrow, like 8 fried trout fillets and maybe 4 poached bass fillets. If you want some fish, let me know, I'll package some separately.

I'll be at Urbana around 4 'cause I happen to go to school near there, if anyone cares to join me that would be lovely. If not, well then I'll just write more :P

That sounds like the single best class ever. Almost makes me want to be a chef JUST so I can take that class.
