I noticed that a few university/college WriMos formed their own little sub-forms, so I decided to make one for us ambitious high schoolers!
So, I guess introduce yourself, and we'll have some fun! Word wars, complaining about homework, writing sessions, you get the picture.
To break the ice: Hi, I'm Kate, I'm in grade 11 at an arts school downtown, and this will be my third year of NaNo! I think my novel will be about a traveling circus in a post-apocalyptic Canada (inspired by a Nuit Blanche exhibit), but we're not even half way to November, so you know...
Why hello there ! :) I'm Sherry, I go to an arts school in Brampton (except I'm not in the arts program so I guess I don't really count... but still!) and I'm in grade 10. I'm 14 years old and this is my second year of doing NaNoWriMo . I have no idea what I'm going to be writing about... but I'm sure I'll come up with something :)
Hello! I am Sunny, I'm in grade nine at a private school, and this will be my third year of NaNo too! Your novel sounds absolutely amazing so I think I need to bug you to finish it so that I can read it. I LOVE circuses, especially creepy ones. As for me, I don't like talking about my novel before I've finished it :D
Hey Sunny! Muahaha, a niner >:D :D Heh, thanks! I specifically chose to do it for NaNo so I'd actually finish it (I usually get side tracked with stories). And MAJOR ditto on the circus thing. I overuse creepy circuses. Hey, you wouldn't happen to be Sunstreak on DeviantART too, would you? Because a girl with that username just started following me.
Hey, I'm Hannah. I'm in Grade 12 in a school near High Park. My novel description is a wee bit long, so I won't post it here, but you can read it on my profile. I'm ready to do Nano, whilst applying to Universities (I want to get my undergrad in Creative Writing and my Masters in Librarian Studies), so November will be filled with chaos. Yay!
Hello Hannah! While I'm just about to run out the door for school, I shall definitely check out your novel summary when I have time. Library studies and creative writing? That sounds like a blast, I wish you luck with your university endeavors!
Though I am a bit out of the region, I still attend some events and I hang around the chat a lot. I'm Negasi, and this will be my third time through NaNo as well! (Also my third time trying to finish grade 12, but that's a totally different story.) I go to a highschool in Oshawa :). Oooh my novel is going to be your typical medieval fantasy with lots of sword fights and magic and all that good stuff! :D
Yay! A high school forum. Never see one of these too often. Anyways, I'm Sarah. Grade 11, in an art school as well. Uh...this is my first year doing nano and I can't wait. I also have no clue what I'm going to do for it. o.o
You wouldn't happen to be MY Sarah in grade 11 who goes to an arts school, would you? Because if you're not...this is kind of scary. o,o But anyway, hello! :D A newbie, well, I wish you luck in this crazy adventure!
Oh God, I agree wholeheartedly. I've had way too much of that in my life (Girl Guides is serious business for some, as it turns out). But the dramatic arts are the best. Really? Hah, cool! She's very nice. XD Should I tell her about this?
Hey! I'm Victoria, and I'm in grade nine. This is my second NaNo year, though I failed the YWP the year before that, and failed Screnzy last April >.>
Hope that I make it to 50k again this year, but with the number of clubs and community service crap I've taken on, it's not likely... I'll try, though!
Hello! I know that feel, bro, I...have never won a NaNo or Script Frenzy (my shame has been reveal!). And don't worry, it's all about the trying, as long as you have fun, the 50k doesn't matter in the end.
Heya! I'm Franci, another minor niner,I'm 14 years of age, and this is my third nano and hopefully third consecutive win. I'm weird, my book's weird, and I enjoy all things nerdy.
Which Nuit Blanche exhibit was that? I really enjoyed this year's exhibits.
Hello Franci! I think I might have said hi to you on the other form as well...well, another "hi" never hurt anyone (unless we're talking about drugs, then I think it's up in the air...too many puns, sorry). :D You know what you get when you combine weird and nerdiness? Werdines, which sounds like "wordiness", which is excellent for NaNo! I wish you luck with your third win!
It was in the Distillery District and it was a circus that was making a stop "in the ruins of Toronto". They had games, acts, and "artifacts" from the former civilization such as soaps, tea kettles, and baby toys. It was cool. :D
Hi! I'm BookLover, or Amelia, and I'm in grade 12. It's my fifth nano, and hopefully my third win! I'm crazy busy during November (gah, scholarships are a pain to apply for - just a warning to all you youngsters!) so I'm not sure how well this year is going to go.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm writing about so far, other than it's a fantasy novel. Anyone else have any clue what they're writing?
Hi! I'm Lithy, and I'm in grade eleven even though I should've graduated in June. Whatever. This will be my seventh Nanowrimo and my sixth win. I'mma kick serious butt. I go to alternative school downtown and it's AWESOME.
One or two of you may or may not have heard of some crazy girl named Skittlez who likes to hit people. That, coincidentally, would be me. I don't hit Nanoers if I can help it. Anymore. Ahem.
I'm writing a fantasy story which I have all detailed out and which involves a girl being sort of forced to reclaim her throne :P Originally I imagined her as wanting the throne, but I've realized she probably just wants to be left the eff alone. I would too in her shoes. Heh.
Woah. Kate? As in... Kate who is a fan of Bones and sent me the promo on FB?! (If so, I will laugh.)
I'm Vic/Jocelyn (depending on how you know me) and I'm in grade 11 at the same school as Kate. Which means I need to hunt her down... and maybe she can persuade me to write this year even though my school schedule is incredibly hectic.
Seeing as I was not planning on writing this year, I've not planned anything in the way of plot-like ramblings.
Oh, I can assure you I will be making you write this year And don't you worry, if you can't think of a plot, I will take you on an adventure that will need a trilogy to fully explain.
By the way, did I send you the season six blooper reel yet?
On a side note (since I can't seem to find an edit button on the posts), I looked at your profile and you ARE Kate! Weren't you the one I told about Nanowrimo in grade 9? Haha.
This is kind of cool. Typically the only people on Nano I already know are people I've nagged into doing it. I don't usually find people I know. So hi!
Crap I feel old. Like I've been at this high school thing FOREVER.
Careful, it has a habit of eating souls...
I'm pretty sure I convinced some kid to do Nanowrimo yesterday at this writing conference... and I convinced two girls who have done Nano but never been to an event to come to an event. :D
I'm like Nanowrimo's pimp. I swear. Every time I go anywhere other than school (I go to alternative school, half those people can barely read lol) I end up trying to convince at least one person to participate.
Awesome. Life must be pretty blissful. I'm all jaded and stuff now. Except for I'm totally un-jaded when it comes to Nanowrimo. 'Cause you guys are awesome.
HIII I'm Dorothy I AM IN GRADE 12! though i dont look it. ummmmm..... what else am i suppose to be saying? oh i'm a short asain girl, quite loud, if you're going to the kick off be sure to find me :D 4th year nano, won twice, last year i slacked too much :P I got to school in brampton cause i live there, i have a bunch of friends here that do nano too im not sure when they will find this thread. nice to meet all you guys, i know a bunch of you already :P
I've always loved the name Dorothy, hi! Well, since loudness doesn't translate over the internet, I'm afraid you'll have to settle for using caps lock (we'll have a caps lock yelling fight sometime, see who can go the longest without blowing their imaginary eardrums). Brampton...never been there, how close by are you guys (totally not a creepy question...right?). :D I look forwards to NaNo-ing with you!
I'd love to, but when I say it to my Mum, "So you're asking me to go and hang out with a bunch of people you met on the internet late at night to celebrate a month of getting no sleep and handing in all your work late? Go to your room and never use he internet again!"
My mom was like "Is anyone you know going?" and I was like "Uh...no?"
She said I can go if I'm not going to be alone going to and from the station (like actually getting there). I also need to get ready for a party later on that week .-.
I really want to go though. Maybe some more convincing :P
Does that mean going to/from Union or going to/from the station near your house? Which station do you live near?
...I realize I'm asking ALL the people about where they live but I'm not creepy :( I live at Bathurst/Lawrence, near Lawrence West. If that helps re-assure you.
...Oh, but even though Lawrence West is closest to me, I... hmm. I need to decide on my route. I usually take the 7 bus to either St. Clair West Station or Bathurst Station, but I guess I'm likely to be stuck in rush hour, so I'll.. still just get on the subway at St. Clair West. That would be better for meeting purposes.
Ooh, idea! We could make up a combined alibi! Claim we all actually know each other and that we're some friend that has suspiciously never been mentioned that's going...actually, this may not be as clever as it sounded in my head.
Hmm, I think I will start off with explaining my username.... It's moogle99, obviously. 99 is my favourite number (don't ask me why! :D) and moogle is google for cows. I made that up in grade seven... two years ago! I'm in grade nine--what's that? Four grade niners now?
Well... I don't have much else to say. Ha! Who am I kidding, I always have something to say (it's true, today I talked my friend's ear off for about twenty minutes straight... about the subtle differences between periwinkle, indigo, and cornflower blue).
This will be my first Nano, and I'm hoping to reach (at least) 25 000 words.
Oh, you're near me, then! I love at Bathurst/Lawrence. My closest subway station is Lawrence West (it's next to Yorkdale station, if you're not familiar with the subway)
You have inspired me to create a search engine that "moos" every time you search something, thank you. :D NINER. Aww, you're all so young! Wait two years and you won't be! I'm (as you probably guessed from my many posts) a chatterbox too. And cornflower blue sounds pretty.
:D That's a great goal for a first NaNo, I wish you luck!
for everyone who says they need a friend to go with jsut say me, im in grade 12 very "responsible"..... well most of the time, and there are adults who will keeps out for you and other teenagers and such, like me! so everyone shoudl come, and brampton is west of toronto, about a 30 min drive is you dont have traffic, if not then longer
I'll definitely be there, with my boyfriend. He usually hangs out with the geeks :P (*Cough*Bunnyhero*cough*) I've only ever met two or three Nanoers I didn't like, and I've been at it for a long time. That includes on the wider forums, though of course I've never met those people in real life.
lol reminds me of the first time i wen tto a naano event i wanted to come hang out wiht you guys to see hilarys cats...though me and my friends ride wouldnt let us, nano peole are suspicous :P
Well, hey there. It seems that there are a great many more fellow niners than I expected. I'm not alone~!
My name's Anika, but I always find it odd to be referred to as such in text, so feel free to come up with some embarrassing nickname or call me by my username~
My book is... Weird..? I have no clue. It's about the very twisted mind of a rich, dead man named Marcus and how a woman named Mary found herself trapped in it, along with great many ofther dead people. It's sort of about Heaven and Hell, but made a inifinitally more complicated, because that us what my mind comes up with at three in the morning.

Re: High School WriMos
I go to ESA...so maybe? I dunno XD and thanks :P
Re: High School WriMos
Ah, no then, I'm RHSA, but my Sarah will find this hilarious.
Wait, do we hate to hate each other now because we're rival schools? :O
Re: High School WriMos
I don't really care about rival schools. It just annoys me actually. Why can't we all just get along? XD
Re: High School WriMos
Just wondering....do you know a Sophie Pomerantz by any chance?
Re: High School WriMos
Because we're teenagers, we need drama!
And yes, yes I do.
Re: High School WriMos
Drama sucks sometimes...and I mean the mean girl kind. Not performing drama XD She was my bestie in middle school.
Re: High School WriMos
Oh God, I agree wholeheartedly. I've had way too much of that in my life (Girl Guides is serious business for some, as it turns out). But the dramatic arts are the best.

Re: High School WriMos
Hi Lilthy! :O Seven times and six wins!? Wow, I have some catching up to do. XD
I have not heard of your reputation of hitting people, but perhaps we could settle for a friendly fist bump?
Ooh, sounds interesting! I wish you luck!
And yes, I am very excited, it's why I'm pestering everybody here.

(for spreading the NaNo love)
Re: High School WriMos
*Very delayed high five* Obviously I have to spread the Nano love. I think I might have convinced my boyfriend to do it.
Re: High School WriMos
Yes, Lithy, I'm in grade 11. xD Don't worry, I'm still in denial and believe I'm still a niner.
Re: High School WriMos
Awesome. Life must be pretty blissful. I'm all jaded and stuff now. Except for I'm totally un-jaded when it comes to Nanowrimo. 'Cause you guys are awesome.

I'd love to, but when I say it to my Mum, "So you're asking me to go and hang out with a bunch of people you met on the internet late at night to celebrate a month of getting no sleep and handing in all your work late? Go to your room and never use he internet again!"
Re: High School WriMos

Kate: Aww. Do you think you'll be able to go to other events?
Re: High School WriMos
I really hope so (I think I might actually find a friend and use them as a cover to go to the party from my parents...I'm a rebel now :D).
Re: High School WriMos
My mom was like "Is anyone you know going?" and I was like "Uh...no?"
She said I can go if I'm not going to be alone going to and from the station (like actually getting there). I also need to get ready for a party later on that week .-.
I really want to go though. Maybe some more convincing :P
Re: High School WriMos
Does that mean going to/from Union or going to/from the station near your house? Which station do you live near?
...I realize I'm asking ALL the people about where they live but I'm not creepy :( I live at Bathurst/Lawrence, near Lawrence West. If that helps re-assure you.
Re: High School WriMos
Runnymede >.<
Re: High School WriMos
I can probably meet you near lawrence west this year for some events :D
Re: High School WriMos
I thought your closest station was Downsview! Or Sheppard-Yonge, whatever.
Re: High School WriMos
It's on my way :P
Re: High School WriMos
...Oh, but even though Lawrence West is closest to me, I... hmm. I need to decide on my route. I usually take the 7 bus to either St. Clair West Station or Bathurst Station, but I guess I'm likely to be stuck in rush hour, so I'll.. still just get on the subway at St. Clair West. That would be better for meeting purposes.
Re: High School WriMos
omg, wait ur near lawrence?? cuz i totally need someone to go to events w :P (im hs student just btw)
Re: High School WriMos

Re: High School WriMos
:D Just talked to my parents and they said yes! Made sure to omit internet people though.
Re: High School WriMos
I'll be at the party! I hope you can come, too. I want as many teens as possible, so I'm not awkwardly there with a bunch of people twice my age...
Re: High School WriMos
omg feel the SAME way XD
Re: High School WriMos
Hi!
'Kay, I'm done! :D
Re: High School WriMos
ooh, another niner! Whereabouts do you live? You should come into chat! You should sign up for the mentorship program!
Re: High School WriMos
Near Yorkdale mall. I can't really think of any other fairly well known landmarks(?)....
Re: High School WriMos
Oh, you're near me, then! I love at Bathurst/Lawrence. My closest subway station is Lawrence West (it's next to Yorkdale station, if you're not familiar with the subway)
Re: High School WriMos
Yeah, I'm fairly familiar with it. My closest station is Downsview though...
Re: High School WriMos
Moogle, do you go to W.L. Mackenzie? Because I think that would be your district school. . . Perhaps not.
Re: High School WriMos
No... You know what? I consulted a map, and I'm actually closer to Vaughan Mills, kind of in the middle. Alright, I'm confusing, sorry.
Re: High School WriMos
that's alright :D
Re: High School WriMos
You have inspired me to create a search engine that "moos" every time you search something, thank you.
:D NINER. Aww, you're all so young! Wait two years and you won't be!
I'm (as you probably guessed from my many posts) a chatterbox too. And cornflower blue sounds pretty.
:D That's a great goal for a first NaNo, I wish you luck!

I'm 18 too now :D
That Dorothy character, she's awesome.
And... kittens.

It seems that there are a great many more fellow niners than I expected.
I'm not alone~!

My book is... Weird..?
I have no clue.
It's about the very twisted mind of a rich, dead man named Marcus and how a woman named Mary found herself trapped in it, along with great many ofther dead people.
It's sort of about Heaven and Hell, but made a inifinitally more complicated, because that us what my mind comes up with at three in the morning.
... I should probably sleep now.
