My apologies if this is the wrong place to post this! Mods feel free to move this post where it needs to go if not here!
As a Canadian writer I wanted to talk to other Canadians (specifically Torontonians) about the climate for publishing our Nano books through a Publishing House?
How easy/hard it is? Any good recomendations for local Literary Agents? Any tips and tricks you've picked up in your search to get published etc.
I kind of like my little mainstream novel and while it's not the most original story out there, I might consider shopping it around for publication ANYWAY once it's been edited into submission. I was kind of hoping to figure out how much a pipe dream this is going to be! lol
You're absolutely welcome to post about this here!
The only advice I have for you, personally, is to do a LOT of reading about the industry first - there are a ton of great blogs out there, from authors to agents to publishers to industry warning sites like Writer Beware. Debi Ohi, a Toronto author and artist, has compiled scads of lists of useful resources on her blog/twitter/google plus account - but you can find more than you'll ever be able to read just by googling around for a couple of hours.
Awesome! I've done some research in regars to the industry and what to expect, I was hoping for first hand knowledge but I will deft look this stuff up.
Offhand is she talking in general terms or about the industry in TO specifically?
I'm not sure there is a Toronto-specific publishing industry (unless you're only looking at small publishers)... but I guess my legit answer here should be that I don't know. :P

My bad, I misspelled her name. It's Debbie Ohi, and her twitter account is inkyelbows

Re: Getting Published?
Oops, I meant more along the lines of Lit agents :D
I just googled - I'll have to dig deeper when I get home and have the time!
