Sensitive Librarian Man disappears OMG! Drama, tears, danger galore. A couple of dramatic revelations, and hopefully, blissful reunion - with SLM or estranged husband? Keep tuned!

Heroine is a successful baker despite being barely functional in a social setting due to her OCD.

Hero is top secret government built cyborg that escapes from the lab with no knowledge that he's not human, but knowledge about pretty much everything else, including how to survive as a human and how to bake.

Hijinks ensue.

So it's not quite Chick Lit. It will be written in the Chick Lit style, so I feel this would be absolutely the worst SciFi or Thriller ever, so you ladies are stuck with me. :)

Not sure.

Either the backstory and how she got where she is of a character in another in-progress novel or the novelzation of a play I'm working on.

Either way it's intelligent and shopping is NOT involved in the story AT ALL. *barf*

Heroine, Elisabeth, is a career-confused late-20-something who's going to have to come to terms with changing her life from practical to impractical.

Hero is Vincent van Gogh, albeit very much in the posthumous sense.

Elisabeth begins writing letters to Vincent in an effort to find balance in her life between choosing a creative career over something more practical. She chose Vincent as he was her favorite painter growing up; visiting one of his exhibitions rekindles the fascination, leading to the letters as being a form of self-therapy.

Society writer wants to cover crime stories at the newspaper where she works. She sees her chance when a society dame (I need a better word, sorry) is found dead in a part of town where she clearly doesn't belong. Enter grumpyish crime reporter who doesn't want her near the story. Pushy heroine works on the story. Things heat up, slowly. She's also uncertain if she really wants to marry her fiance investment banker type. (I'm still working on the synopsis).

As I said in a different post, I'm not entirely certain which genre I fit into, but the mystery people seem really serious about forensics, methods of killing people, etc. I think that chick lit can also have a mystery to be solved.

Heroine travels to and from Greece / Australia as she has multiple problems with her mother and the suffocating life she led in Australia. In Greece she ends up with her aunt who has helped her get over losing her virginity, divorce, befriends her with a psychic/medium and stops her drinking habit.

The heroinme is placed on a 3 point pact to help her grow as a person and realise that she doesn't need to be married happily ever after to have a life.

i am trying to have my heroine start of as being selfish and egocentric but once her beloved aunt dies and when she finds out that her Puritan mother has left her marriage because she is in an affair, the heroines world is turned upside down.

A stroy of self growth and trying to get message across that marriage isn't the ultimate goal in a girl's life - i see so many women lonely and sad because they aren't married and it upsets me. There's more to life than having a permanent partner.

Is this chick lit - confused lately.

Oh wow, I don't even know if mines Chick Lit but here goes!

Two estranged sisters forced into the confinement of their childhood home by the dying grandmother who raised them until their irresponsible mother returned and took over once she'd gotten the "party" out of her system.

One is suffering through a marriage that is nothing more than a lie and making up for the farce by being a work-a-holic and the other is following in their mothers footsteps with a life of men, partying and financial ruin.

In the process of cleaning out the house they find a box of letters from a family member neither of them knew about and are introduced to a relationship that makes them take a harder look at their own, giving them a better understanding of just what it means to be family.

3 lines; that's tough! I've got 5 interweaving storylines :)

A doctor discovers that every person has another person's name etched onto their heart. What will this mean for: Parker and Holly, who have just met; Lila, who has just left her abusive husband; Hank and Summer, who are unhappily married; Chuck, a cynical doctor who finds his own name on a patient's heart; and Evelyn and Beatrice, lifelong best friends?

A clever woman's blog roasting her exes goes viral turning her in to an reluctant over-night relationship guru. Her world gets chaotic as offers for interviews come rolling in. She tries to protect her family & exe's privacy until Matt Lauer calls, inviting her on the show with 3 of the exes she ridiculed in her blog. After relentless badgering from Today Show staffers she finally agrees to appear. She expects the worst but gets a much different reception than she bargained for.

And, hopefully, hilarity ensues.

- So she prostitutes herself. Just this once.
- And then multiple times with the same guy
- She gets an internship
- At the office of that guy she's sleeping with

Boots gets accepted into a prestigious and remote International school for her senior year, but gets placed in the alternative dorm, away from her best friend and boyfriend.

Boots quickly realizes that Anticosti isn't your typical International School. There are secrets here - specifically on Glendon campus - that Boots is determined to unearth, all the while trying to figure out why she was assigned to Glendon in the first place. It doesn't take long, however, for Boots to consider that maybe it's not Glendon that's weird - maybe it's her.

Mollie Callahan: Housewife/Spy

Desperate Housewives meets Stepahanie Plum

Im basically reworking an old story that I wrote in 2004 and loved but it lacked the 'punch', it was a good story just nothing catchy. Figured out what I needed to add and voila! hopefully it will come together. Basic synop - and no way in 3 sentences ;)

Mollie is a newly married Oklahoma girl whose husband has just been transferred to Southern California with nothing to do and no friends she decides to help out a neighbor with a few issues the first being that the neighbor suspects her husband of cheating... lots of hijinks, hilarity, almost getting caughts... and learning a lot about yourself and your worth. If that all makes sense ! lol

Glad to be aboard and from reading everyones synops' id say Ive got a few months of great reading when they hit the shelves ! ;)

OK - short pitch: What do you do when your husband divorces you and you're left looking after your loopy Great Aunt Polly and her irascible parrot, Flo? Don your finest footwear and join the local tai chi class of course!

Long pitch:

Anna Blackthorn isn't having a good year. She's been depressed ever since she had a miscarriage. Now her husband wants a divorce and it's not going to be pretty. Taken in by her Great Aunt Polly (GAP), Braebanks on the North East coast of Scotland is a far cry from Hampstead, London. Anna has some adjusting to do - and fast.

GAP is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and Anna has to become the strong one in their relationship. Together they join the local tai chi class, in an effort to slow the disease's progression. Anna misses her old life, but gets a chance to reclaim some of that lifestyle when Quentin asks her out. He's an old school friend of her husbands, but are his motives pure?

Anna has to step up to the mark and tackle divorce, financial worries and a failing relative. Oh - and a parrot with a boil on its bum. Luckily, Nigel the neighbourhood vet steps in to save the day on that front, and also gives Anna a job.

Can Anna face up to her husband in court to get the money she deserves? And can she make it to the end of a complicated tai chi set without making a fool of herself?

I kind of cheated and decided that three lines really means three sentences...

When Mollie shows up for her first day as an editorial assistant for a big time publishing company she doesn't plan on her boss being the same man that she flirted with over the weekend... or that her other boss is his wife.

Raeanna has been married to Aaden for ten years, but as their publishing company is blooming, their marriage is slowly falling apart - especially with the addition of a new assistant named Mollie.

When Mollie is forced to work directly under Raeanna, the two women come to a common understanding, but with the lingering smiles and (not so) discreet eye contact both women wonder if a common understanding is all it really is.

Re: What's your story?

Lauren Young is growing tired of her life in New York City - and she can't put her finger onto it as to why. She has an affectionate and successful husband that's always supportive of their son, Jack. She loves her job as a magazine writer even if she gets paid peanuts. As she's struggling with student loan debt, she complains about this and tired of it - her husband convinces her to keep working towards a higher position with the company and keeps suggesting other jobs to going back for another degree for her. All of those options for Lauren seem great but are undoable. this upsets her but as she loves her husband so much, she doesn't speak up about it.

A few years later, the recession takes place and her husband starts working longer hours and is occasionally if not rarely there for Lauren and Jack as he used to be. When Lauren suspects her husband to be having an affair with another woman, this is one of the few reasons that drives Lauren to the driving edge of making a very important switch in her life.

A switch that brings Lauren and Jack to Lancaster, Pennsylvania where Lauren grew up. She lives with her parents for awhile. The situation becomes permanent as her husband, as affectionate as he can be, still can't understand his wife for his own life. Meanwhile, Lauren is starting to feel happy especially as she gets her own apartment and begins to fall into a totally different career and meets someone else - one that helps her figure out who she is and her true self that makes her happier than she's ever been. This is a coming-age self-empowerment type of chick lit - and it's my first crack at chick lit!

If I might have any interested readers that would like to read through what I've got after November, please send me your email address via my Inbox on here and I'll keep you in mind! :)

So I just decided to participate in NaNo, about 2 hours ago, so I really don't have an exact plot. I have an idea that I may play with, but like I said, I only thought this up maybe an hour ago, so I hope this sounds ok.

Story about two sisters, one sister is a famous actress/writer married to a famous actor/director and their lives are the picture perfect life, but behind closed doors they are miserable. The other sister and her husband live life pay check to pay check, struggle with infertility but could not be more happier.

I guess it can be about what the "perfect" marriage/life/etc is. What do you need to have, in order to be happy?

Sorry it's more than 3 lines, and if it sounds like it has been done before.

Re: What's your story?

Wow, after reading all these ideas, my own plot seems a bit week. My MFC is in the midst of a crises. Her dissertation is going absolutely nowhere, and the deadline is looming. She decides to rent a quiet cabin in order to do her research without all the cities distractions. As a joke, a friend emails her a "spell" to raise the dead, telling her to just raise the poet she is researching from the dead and have him explain everything to her. She doesn't take it seriously, of course, but after another sleepless night- when she is bleary eyed from reading- she says the spell, only to wake up to find a very perplexed man in her living room.....

As if this weren't bad enough, the poet she was researching is none other than the infamous seducer and rogue, Lord Byron. Now she must deal with controlling Byron's wild antics, writing her thesis, and attempting to figure out how to get rid of Byron....before she falls for his charms...

I know this sounds like just a cheesy romance, but I do plan on making my character have more substance then then helpless damsels found in most romance novels.

Mia and Tom meet in college and become best friends. Something traumatic happens, and Tom is the only one who believes Mia the whole time - and so he's the one who gets the brunt of her lashing out when that happens, but he never gives up on her. Eventually life takes them on different paths and Mia learns that sometimes things have to break and hurt worse in order to get better.

(Craptastic description...probably because I'm not to the more severe breaking points of the story yet. The prologue is up as the excerpt if you want to read it.)

Love of his Life must have hysterectomy to remove cancer. Girl finds out she is pregnant. Goes to have abortion. Boy tells her at the last minute that Love of his Life is in remission. Girl makes the decision to keep the baby and relinquish her parental rights to Boy and Love of his Life, as they'll never have a child of their own.

Not sure how it will finish yet, but probably with Child finding Girl late in her life, after Boy has died, and reflecting on everything she gave up, or something.

Re: What's your story?

Okay, so I cheated and used four sentences.

After nothing in life turns out how she'd planned, expected, or even hoped Claire Pinsky goes to great length to start over. With a new name, a somewhat altered appearance, and a far far removed mailing address she adopts a new identity, a new life. Then former high school classmate, Tess, shows up in town with her family to scout locations for her bridezilla sister's destination wedding. In the face of anxiety and fear over having to possibly address her past and finally deal with the reasons behind why she ran away, somehow a whirlwind romance ignites. Tess struggles to accept and understand the web of deception Claire has weaved and what the future is supposed to hold for the two of them - if anything at all.

Man, writing a synopsis is tough. I feel like I don't explain it very well. Also I'm still struggling with how to end it. I feel like realistically when two people fall for each other but live in different locations, neither can just pick up and move and so, things naturally end in a "if things were different.." sort of way. But I'm a sucker for happy endings. :/

Her best friend (and fellow non-grown-up), Olivia announces she's pregnant, which sends Melissa into a crazy tailspin. She realizes she has two months until her 10 year high school reunion. She decides to use the months in an attempt to "become interesting, if not an adult". Ridiculousness ensues and self-discovery is made.

I don't have much of an idea. Or a story yet since I had a paper due yesterday that demanded all of my attention! But here's my little ghost of a plot:

-Overachieving militant feminist and militantly childfree businesswoman moves to a small town with her boyfriend (though she refuses to call him that)

-She's working at a local newspaper, he is teaching at a small, very conservative, very Christian school

-One day she hears about a radio contest for pregnant women and decides for some as yet unknown reason to enter it. She wins, of course.

-The entire community hears and starts pressuring the couple to get married

That's about all I've got right now. Don't even have a title. Planning? Who needs planning?

Mine has changed massively as I've started to actually write the thing! I never realised just how much PLOT you need for a novel! Here's a new synopsis:

Effie Anderson is trading office supplies for official secrets…

Effie is good at her job, managing the fund of an eccentric billionaire, who seems determined to throw his money away. But she dreams of adventure, stuck in a rut at home, at work, and with her boyfriend. The last thing she needs is a suspiciously grown up “work experience” boy on her plate. But it turns out Ben Samuels is good for more than just making the tea. He’s working undercover, spying for the government, who want to know what’s really going on with Jeb Drislow’s billions. What is the secret behind his latest obsession, ballooning to the edge of space?

Effie is dragged into espionage, stumbling through a world of danger, double-cross, and really bad outfits. Can she hack it as a spy? Will she learn to go with the flow? And could Ben finally be ready to come in from the cold…

Re: What's your story?

Newly moved my story to the correct genre! I used to disdain chick lit but I'm quickly changing my views on this!

My story is sort of a hybrid between chick lit and a regular romance novel, since the romance is one of the main plotlines. Also, sorry it's longer than the 3 line limit, it's just easier to copy and paste my synopsis.. =P

Title: The Sweet Life

Marlie McKay was living the sweet life.

She thought she had it all at 24: A CIA graduate with honors, she had a coveted position in one of Paris' most acclaimed patisseries, working under world famous pastry chef Jean-Baptiste Martineau, and was even dating his charming and very handsome son, Leon. She was a rising star in the culinary world and life couldn't get any better.

And quickly she found out it didn't.

A short year later, her life is a complete disaster. Betrayed by those she trusted, she returns home to Portland, slandered and disgraced on not one, but two continents. All she wanted to do was hide and forget, but the siren call of the kitchen soon proved to be too much to ignore and despite her misgivings, she jumps back into the fire. Recently renovated and reopened, Sweetwater Grille seemed to be the perfect place to start over. Hoping no one would recognize her through her disguise, she contrives her way into an open spot on the grill line. With the bistro's checkered history of internal problems, she figured if she played her cards right, she could be running the place within a year.

But there was one thing she hadn't count on;
Hotshot celebrity chef Jackson Wade had the exact same idea.

I'm assuming my idea is chick lit because I wouldn't know how else to categorize it. I'm a chick, and this is definitely a book I'd want to read. Hence why I'm writing it. Three lines is a tough challenge, but I'll see what I can do.

Lena followed all the rules, and yet, 8 years out of college she still finds herself working in a cubicle at a job she hates. Only her best "gal pal" Greg and her obsession with The Beantown Boys (the boy band from her childhood) keeps her life interesting. She had no idea, one Thursday morning, that life as she knew it was about to change...and all because of a contest on her favorite social networking website.

Life was pretty much on track for Noel Lewis, Beth Wargo, Lynn Smith and Rivers Vaughn. But at the end of the summer, the doctor, the accountant/restauranteur, the columnist and the professor have no choice but to swerve off the road they’d been traveling. An accident, a suspicion, a lay-off and an opportunity will force each woman to reexamine their chosen path and ultimately decide what direction to point the headlights when they finally merge back into traffic.

One line over but hopefully it works

Edie's relationship has just fallen apart after she moved back to the city and three hours away from her now ex-boyfriend. After a couple of disastrous dates coupled with the ever increasing work disasters, she declares herself off of the dating scene until she can get her life sorted out. Of course, she wasn't planning on meeting someone new just hours later! But it's fine - two people can have sex and still be just friends without anything getting in the way...right?!

So it's not quite three lines and it doesn't quite sum everything up, but hey, I tried to keep it short!

I attempted the snowflake method for this but didn't get past the initial paragraph descriptions (hoping I have better luck with nano :) This is what I wrote --->

An assistant editor throws off the shackles of her desk job and joins a wildlife adventurer heading to the Brazilian Rainforests.
When assistant editor Hilary Douglas loses her promotion to the nephew of the CEO she gives her bosses an ultimatum that goes horribly wrong, with only a fortnight to find a new job she jumps at the chance to join a film crew travelling with self-titled ‘Wildlife adventurer’ Gregory Harrison on his trip to the Brazilian rain forests, the only problem is that they really don’t want her to come along.
Hilary faces broods of poisonous snake, terrifying colonies of venomous ants and perhaps the most frightening in all of the species throughout the entire world…a pack of macho, fearless and chauvinistic red blooded males.

More than 3 lines, sorry :)

There´s a classic with a story like that:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marquise_of_O

Plays in Regency era in Italy - there´s a film by French filmmaker Eric Rohmer too - you might look it up - or pictures from the film might appear to your heroine.

Re: What's your story?

I LOVE THIS. I sort of lived it (minus divorce?) with my college bestie. He and I dated freshman year but ended up the best of friends - nearly ten years later we realized what we were missing out on (when I was getting ready to move across the country with my then-boyfriend) and instead I moved alone, to the bestie's city, and we've been together ever since :)

Re: What's your story?

Wow, I've always been intrigued about women who have the strength to selflessly give up babies. I'd need a reason she couldn't be a real mother to the child to raise the stakes, to show unselfish love to baby as well as couple, otherwise, I'd think she was odd for calmly handing over her child. I'd probably need to see the future to make sure everyone is OK. Like, does she become like an extended auntie and come to regard boy as simply a friend, then find a more appropriate love of life, and have own baby? Really good starting point. I love it

Re: What's your story?

This sounds great! I don't know, maybe you could end with trying to work out the long distance thing, then cut to ten years (or whatever) in the future and they did make it work. A happy ending that fudges the whole "what actually happened, who moved" etc difficult questions..

Love it. I'd keep the stakes high by giving her two months "to become an adult" and drop the interesting bit. Because whatever being an adult means to her, it's different than other people's definition and can be wacky and hilarious. Maybe being an adult is not having library fines, or never eating frozen meals, or having a coach trench coat and sensible rain boots. Her quest of something nonsensical, pursued with utter seriousness, could be fabulous.

I really like that - it sounds like it can be funny and real (my favorite kind of chick lit).

And who cares about planning. What's an outline?
