My bf and I will be attending the NOWD and staying at an inn on Bush St and plan on walking the 10 blocks to the event.
We're willing to meet up with solo walkers so that no one has to walk strange streets alone. So, just give a holler if you'd like a walking buddy or two! I know one person messaged me before the site wipe, but I didn't write down the user name, and I'm not sure if my message was received, so ... yeah.
that was me who messaged you codestar. I'd still love to meet with any other writers walking to the event. A family member and I are at the Westin on Market and would love some walking buddies! Ox
My dad and I are also attending, and would be willing to walk with single folks who don't want to walk alone. We are very close to the event (he can't walk long distances) at the Hotel Galleria. So if anyone checks their maps and are along that route, we'll be happy to walk with as well!
Having attended last year, may I suggest also that solo out-of-town walkers pre-program the number of a couple local taxi companies into their phones before leaving? We managed to catch a cab after the event, but they were not as abundant as one might have hoped. Cab-sharing is also something we might want to arrange in advance.
Me too- BARTing back to Rockridge and certainly don't want to walk alone with a) my computer, b) a black dress and heels and c) post cocktails. I suppose we'll have to identify each other before 11/20. Blaaah! I can't wait!
I'll probably take public transport this year (I'm staying in SOMA/Mission this year). But last year, I walked about 20 blocks to where I was staying and it was fine -- I didn't feel unsafe at all. :)
I'm going to be at Club Quarters this year, which is off on 'the other side' of the Merchants Exchange building - four blocks to the northeast. I've always been on the southwest side before, which is where the Galleria Park is, and Union square and Lori's diners.
But I'm up for walking with people - I can probably even meet up at someplace like the Galleria Park.
I'm trying a new place this year - the Carleton on Sutter. If we do end up walking, we'll be going right past the Galleria Park and can join the party there.
I am staying at the Pacific Tradewinds Hostel, would love to walk in groups or bus together, whatever people are doing. Might not be walking to the Sat night dinner though, that seems too far.
Hey everyone, here's what i propose. People who are taking the BART in from somewhere should all get off at the Montgomery street station. From there Montgomery goes straight to the Ballroom. I need a walking buddy back to Montgomery station from the event and that's the closest one to the event. People walking to the event could meet at Montgomery station or could meet anywhere along Montgomery. Any other ideas? Ox
hey Cooper3. I'm staying at the Westin on Market, which is only a block away from the Mosser. Would you be willing to walk back with me? I was hoping a big group would walk to the Montgomery Station and then from there I would just walk down Market. Are you interested in walking together past Montgomery Station? Ox
My buddy and I will be getting on the Bart at the Montgomery station, taking it to Civic Center/UN plaza, and then walking ALL the way to Scott street. We would love to have walking buddies. Anybody by chance taking a similar route? :D

Any other suggestions from locals on this topic?
Re: Walking Buddies
Er, Galleria Park hotel - my bad.
Re: Walking Buddies
My guest and I will be staying there as well--walking together to and from the ballroom would be great, if you're doing so.
Re: Walking Buddies
I messaged you back earlier - hopefully you got it!
Re: Walking Buddies
I am going to be walking from/to BART, if any one need walking buddies, let me know.
Re: Walking Buddies
If I'm able to go, I'll take you up on that. I live in Berkeley, so I'll be taking BART back. :)

Re: Walking Buddies
I would really advise taking a cab or bus from the civic center, those aren't exactly the parts of town you want to be wandering late at night
