Possibly a silly idea, but I thought that five or six of us who are confident that we can all ring that Big Bell could agree to sit together for the night. Is anybody else up for the challenge? :)

Have finished and been a bell ringer the last four years. Will plan to ring it again. Looks like your table is full. Guess my guest (son-in-law) and I will have to start a table near you guys.
My general trend over the last few years has been to bail on whatever idea I'm working on somewhere in week two, causing me to start from scratch, which is a major buzz-kill by the end of the month. This year I'm super motivated to get my word count every day come heck or high water, even if the story stinks.
I think we sat together last year, too, to be honest. It would be fun to sit with you again!
I should add that my dad (who doesn't frequent the forums as much as I do) would probably also love to sit with a bunch of other bell-ringers. Maybe if we had a large enough group we could stalk out tables conveniently located on one of the two sides closest to said bell.
Meanwhile, let's be our own little support group... sharing pep-talks, encouragement, and tips on getting into position to ring that bell. I'll even start - simple word count tip: do not use contractions. ;-)
My tip is to write something you love -- write a novel you love writing -- write something you can't stop writing. Then you'll have to slow down to not hit 50k too soon. :-p
I would love to sit with the bell ringers! This will be my third NoWD (fourth NaNo), and I've always been so horribly envious of the bell ringers. Last year I believe I arrived in SF with 22,000 words.... That said, I don't think my friend is planning on hitting 50K at NoWD, and I don't want to abandon her at some other table (no one else would get my snarky side comments, probably). How about a mixed crowd at the table next door? I definitely need some motivation to keep my word count on steroids.... it's higher than it's ever been at this date before, but still not high enough!
We should probably work out some way to find each other in the waiting room, or at least figure out what table we're using.
Does anybody have mobility problems? Because I was thinking it'd actually be cool to take one of the tables on the other end of the room from the bell (which are also close to the food,) so that we can do a long round of applause for each other as we each head over to the bell. :)
We don't have anything that would stop us from walking across the room.
I would just miss the easy access to the candy buffet...perhaps something 1/2 way through the room, on the opposite side of the stage as the bell? A nice long walk, and yet...candyyyy...
(I've got 2 kids and a house full of halloween candy - you'd think I would have had enough by now!)
That said, we're up for anything. I'll be wearing red and black that night, and we're the tall couple, him with the distinguished white beard and the cane!
No mobility problems here. I'll be wearing a fedora, and that's me on the right side of my profile picture. Not sure what else I'll be wearing this year, but my writing guest this year is 5'11 and has tremendously long brown hair. Does anyone want to volunteer to have a sign, perhaps? Like 'Bell Ringers!' :D I am going to make every effort to be there at 4 pm sharp this year. It's a two hour drive for me with unpredictable traffic, and I am probably going to attempt public transportation as well.... but I'm going to leave extra early!
I can do a sign - it might attract people who haven't been on the forum and just think of themselves as Bell Ringers - which could be fun in itself! But those of us who have spoken up on the forum get first crack at tables. :D
Excellent! Chris, I'm pretty sure I'll recognize you unless you've changed a lot since last year. My dad is very recognizable as he's tall with white hair, a beard, and a cane. So between that and a sign, I bet we can attract a lot of folks!
Would it be alright if I joined you guys? I definitely plan on ringing that bell. :) It's also my first NOWD, so I'd like to have at least some idea of where to sit, and everyone here seems really nice.
I forget how many people are at a table, Sierra, but I think it was like eight last year. If there's room, you can definitely join us! If not, sit close. We are all real nice - the kind of people who like to chase pigeons around cafe gift shops!
I just wanted to say that I had an amazing time with everyone tonight. It was so much fun, and I'm so happy we all made it to 50k and got to ring the bell.
I hope everyone made it back to their hotel/home/what-have-you safely. Good night. Sweet dreams of paper crowns and crossing the finish line. :)
P.S. I was the one in polka dots and a veiled hat, if you need to place a face with a username. Feel free to buddy me if you want, I'd love to have awesome people like you guys on my list.
Yeah, thanks to all of you for coming to the bell-ringers table. I have little doubt that the seven of us would all have won at the NOWD and rung the bell no matter where we were sitting, but it was fun to gather so many winners together in one place, and to get to know you a little - or reconnect, especially in the case of NickiIV and Jack.
Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?

Oh! Me!

Re: Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?
Me for sure. I'm doing the 2500 words a day -- shooting for 75 total and a NoWD crossing of the 50k line. :-)
Re: Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?
That's exactly what I'm doing! Last year I did 60k but hit 50k on Nov 20th.
Re: Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?
Me! I'm planning meticulously to get there - I really want to ring that bell!!
Re: Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?
Count me in! I did it last year so I'm definitely hoping to repeat the experience.... :-)
Re: Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?
Cool, so by that count we have six, including Nikki's father. That should be one table - but maybe we can be two tables!

Re: Anyone want to be on a table of bell-ringers?
I definitely want to be a part of this table or...group of tables!

Good to have you on board, Hoshi, George.

I don't mind if we're far away, that way we can work off energy and candy!

Congratulations, bell-ringer table! It was so exciting to watch you all get crowns one by one.
