Hi everyone, the wrimos at the meeting yesterday asked me to repost this poem I wrote last year... so here it is....
Twas the night before nano, when all through the house nothing was stirring including my wireless mouse My laptop lay open on my desk with some care In hopes that a novel would soon be on there
My children were nestled all asleep in their beds While plots invaded their dreams as they slept and my partner in bed had been snoring so bad that I turned over and reach for my brand new IPAD
Downstairs in my study I heard such a clatter So I ran down the stairs to see what was the matter Across to the laptop I ran like a flash Keyed in my password (including the hash)
The laptop popped up with my windows logo and I logged onto the website for NaNoWriMo When what to my tiring eyes I should sight My laptop clock said it was a min to midnight
I sat in my chair, all lively and quick feeling so great, I felt almost sick Reaching for sweet snacks I recalled my plot then checked out the time- midnight- time to start!
Now this verb and that noun and that sentence too, Of dialogue, and prologue and punctuation too To the bottom of the page and down the other side Now type away, type away, enjoy the ride!
As a writer and his craft know all to true The only one to stop you writing is you So I wrote till my hands hurt and my fingers went stiff Determined to get my word count I was very swift
And then in a twinkling. I noticed the count at one six six seven,-Great the right amount! But I could do more, I heard a voice state so I wrote down yet more words- five hundred and eight
Too tired to write more, I reached for the 'net Nanowrimo dot org are you up running yet? You've been down all day long and now it's really late I want to go to bed but I need to update
I reached for my keyboard and typed the address Nano are you working?- the answer was Yes! I typed in my number of words that I'd done I watched the blue line grow- and it was such fun.
Then onto the forums I clicked with a smile not feeling guilty as I knew I'd be in a while Procrastination's bad when you've got words to do but I'm at my target, so there and woohoo!
I'm meeting the others from my region with luck what time's the meet? Yes it's still in Starbucks. I check out our page and am pleased to see That everyone is doing, just as well as me
We are all ahead and this do I tweet My editing can wait, so I don't push delete I check out our chat room, but no ones online they're all typing away whilst they've all got the time.
Now that I've finished for tonight at least It's time to go to sleep, after a late midnight feast But I must exclaim one thing before asleep I do fall Good Luck NaNoWriMo's and good luck to you all
