Week one sound off!

So we're now a week into NaNo - came around faster than I expected! How is everybody doing? Zooming ahead? Falling a bit behind (like me :P )? How far into your novel would you like to be tonight?

I personally would be happy to add anything to my current word count - however, with illnesses continuously running through my house this week, I'm not sure how that's going to happen! Ah well. Good thing there's still another three weeks to go!

Well being a nano virgin this is all new and exciting to me! And frankly, I'm so surprised and amazed with myself that I have managed this far and without simply giving up. High five! (10k is just around the corner)

Well, tonight, I m hoping to finally reach the scene in my book that kicks the main events off. I'm itching for some action, betrayal and ass kicking mages.

Hope you fell better soon Rae and co.!

I'm a little bit behind you and I don't have the excuse of being poorly! (sorry about house full of illness, hope everyone's better soon)

I said, 100% definitely I was going to win this year. But I really hate my story - it's been like pulling teeth every day so far, I can't believe I was so excited to start it! And I can't bring myself to carry on writing it for the next 42052 words!

I've been sat at the computer for over 3 hours this evening and I've not written a word. Not.. one... single... word. I have been frantically surfing as a procrastination technique instead. But I really don't want to give in!

Umm. Sorry, hope I'm not bringing anyone down here. Yay! to the happy people! :) I'm going to go to bed now and wake up determined. Maybe I'll dream something inspirational!

I'd just like to write some words today! I was teaching this morning and had a meeting this evening so my plan was to write from 10.30 to 11.30 this evening. But it's now 11 and I've spent the last half hour running up and down stairs because Ben kept waking up crying, and then watching him sitting on the toilet crying, "It's not coming out ! It's never going to come out!" Poor thing is constipated and it's stopping him from sleeping. Now he's snuggled up on the sofa with me so hopefully I can get a few words down before midnight.

Hey, I'm a touch behind too, spare time is my problem though. And although my words are flowing quite well, my story is a little bland so far. But about half way I intend to do a "From Dusk Till Dawn". If you're unaware of that reference, it is to a Quentin Tarantino movie that completely changes from a road trip / crime thriller to a vampire movie in an instant about half way, just like he got bored of what he was writing. But in a fun way it actually works.

Maybe it is something you can try?

woefully behind...&, as others have said, i don't have any alibis. i'm in pretty rude health. just can't seem to grab a moment. :( the weekend was a wash & i'm starting to fear that my momentum is lost. still, at this point, i want to finish & i'm determined to do so.
sorry to hear that others haven't been feeling well. hope you all feel better soon. :)

Next time you're stuck at your computer writing nothing come into the chat room and we'll try and inspire you!

I'm also very much in favour of throwing in random plot elements when it's all getting you down. Only yesterday I threw in a scene where my M/C finds Yoda in her bedroom - just because that part of the story was really dull and I needed to spice it up somehow..... It may not be classy, but if it keeps you going, then something good will happen in the end :D

Thanks, Gackt and Ariadne, for your advice. Very good idea and I might invent space zombies if I get desperate enough. :)
I'm churning out some words now. Still behind but I'll close that gap! Come on kat_himmel, you and I can bring up the rear!

So, after 10 days, and with a target of 16667 for today, I'm at < 6000 words... Only 11K behind! If I manage 2.5K a day, and work, and all the socialising that comes with my life, I *might* get close to winning...
Not to mention the fact that, due to illness, I hadn't written a word since Saturday afternoon.
(OK, so spending Sunday at the cinema probably didn't help either!)

The story is finally coming together... I'm shocked that I've managed to write 6K so far...
And after sitting in Starbucks this morning, and discussing it with a couple of the guys who turned up today, I've managed to work out a couple of threads, too...
More planning is needed, tho, methinks!

Good fun... And might give you some ideas to help the story on its way?
