Right guys - please make suggestions for venues and dates after the first week in January. Fridays and Saturdays are the only nights I can get a babysitter for both myself and Rae, so the evening meet has to be on one of them - and the daytime meet can be any day during the weekend :) There will also be a kiddies meet, to be arranged with the parents, in a seperate thread!
WOOOOO! 2011 is done! (or will be midnight tonight)
The only date I won't want to go is 4th Jan as that's me and my mans 4 year yay we are still together day :p
Sunday is usually difficult for me to get off work unless I pre book it or beg and cry haha. In not contracted to work Saturdays so any Saturday would be fine for me just as long as I get a wee bit of notice. I tend to choose to do overtime on sats. Not sure of venues tbh! Just maybe a W'spoons in Cheltenham as the drinks are cheap and half decent cheap food too of anyone wants to eat. :)
So far, the on and offlist comments are for the 14th/15th sorry Judy. It's going to remain open until the last week in December though, so there's plenty of time to vote, and I'll send a reminder out in about a week, so it's all good.
I don't think we'll have an opportunity to have one before Christmas, as there isn't a time when both Kai and I are available at the same time. :( January is our best bet.
Right guys - looks like the best weekend - given commitments and appointments and my new job, is the last weekend in January. I've now got a publicity event (possibly) on the 14th/15th. It'll also give everyone a chance to order t-shirts or whatever else they'd like between now and the end of the month.
Let me know if this does/doesn't work for everyone and we'll see what we can do.
Sorry for the bout of incommunicado-itis (it's a thing) but I'm still recoiling from the shock of having to spend £880 on fixing my car, between Christmas and New Year. Sadly, last Thursday we got our quarterly Gas and Electric bill and car tax; and in ten days (ish) the car goes in for MOT. Net result is that I'm too poor to do anything at least until February. Probably more like Easter. However, work are sending me to London for a conference and Steve's family are paying petrol for us to go to Norfolk (car trouble meant we couldn't visit at Christmas) so I won't be available in chat rooms for the next two weeks either.
If you're still there on Friday the 27th, you'll probably see me drop in and say hi :) Enjoy the party and take notes so you can tell me all about it. I'm really sorry I can't come.
Right guys - I really need a day and venue from everyone that's planning to attend, for the day time and evening meet please. Evening has to be either Friday or Saturday, and the daytime meet will need to be Saturday OR Sunday. Please don't feel motivated by people saying 'they'll only attend at x'. And please don't vote unless you're planning on attending - it'll be too difficult to organise otherwise.
There is also an event for the kids, but that can be just about any time on a weekend (though I need warning to get the goodie bags sorted out for participants and younger siblings) - ironically, it's actually easier to get the parents, all in one place, than it is to arrange the non kiddie specific meets ;)
Judith? Do you have a venue suggestion? Or is it just that you don't want to go to Cheltenham? (for reference, either y'all vote, or the ML's organise what we feel most comfortable with - the bottom line is that both of us can arrange a meet that you can *optionally* attend, or ignore, or you can all vote and do it democratically. Democratically involves actually giving us ideas ;)) (and yes, I'm getting grumpy now).
ALSO - we require five people to actually vote on this before the meet can even go ahead. We've ran meets where no one attended (evening), so we're requiring committment, and venue suggestions, so that we get as few complaints as possible about (I don't like Starbucks/I don't want to travel/I don't like x, I don't want to do y). It's amazing, we've had more negative feedback on this than positive. And yep, I'm being hard on this - I'm giving up the weekend of my book launch to run the TGIAO party, so it'd be nice if we could get this sorted out ;)

Re: TGIAO parties
I can't make the weekend of 14-15 Jan. I might not come to an evening meet anyway but please don't have the daytime meet that weekend!
Re: TGIAO parties
I'm unlikely to get to an evening meet.
I can do any weekend day-time meet in Gloucester.
Re: TGIAO parties
weekend day is fine...usually. a soiree would be lovely, though, & my january is looking quite limp & in need of excitement. does that hellp? :)
Re: TGIAO parties
The weekend of the 14/15th would be good. That's my first post-exam weekend too.

Re: TGIAO parties
Not strictly a TGIAO party, but are the Friday night chats staying open? I was on last Friday between 7:00 and 8:00 and I was quite lonely :)
Re: TGIAO parties
Hey, i know 14-15 jan is pre exam weekend for me, so i know thats bad for me. Any chance we could have a TGIO party before christmas?

Re: TGIAO parties
Well I hope it isn't the 14th-15th Jan as I won't be able to go :(
Are we still having a daytime and an evening meet?
Re: TGIAO parties
Yes to a daytime and evening meet, though please be aware that so far all venue votes for both have been Cheltenham not Gloucester.

Re: TGIAO parties
For the daytime meet I'd prefer Sat 28th but I could also make Sun 29th. Somwhere in Gloucester would be better for me.

Re: TGIAO parties
I suggest Starbucks in Gloucester for the daytime meet.
Thank you Kai for trying to organise this. I hope we manage to get enough interest to actually meet.
Re: TGIAO parties
I am unfortunately unable to attend sat day as change of contract for work but evening and Sunday, any weekend, I will come! :)
How about spoons for the evening in chelt. Or even the day. Cheap n cheerful. :)
Starbucks also works.
Re: TGIAO parties
@Desdi - that was overwhelmingly where the suggestions were when we talked about it - or TGI's which is expensive but fun.
More votes please guys!
Kai
