Hello all.

Felt as though there should be a thread as there was last year, where we can organise write-ins and other events, and also for general East London chit chat.

It is a nice area. Very pleased with my flat (well, shared flat) here. I'm still learning about the area. I occasionally go exploring down random roads to see where I end up. I did enjoy finding out that I can walk to Westfield in half an hour.

Whereabouts are you?

As in past years I shall definitely be organising a write-in or two at the Pembury Tavern in Hackney. The place does lovely beer and food, serves mulled mead over the winter and has a bar billiards table. The only problem with holding a write-in there is that it does lovely beer and food, serves mulled mead over the winter and has a bar billiards table! _But_, if you can ignore the oh-so-attractive distractions then it's a lovely place to write. Also it has free wifi, but no one's forcing you to use it...! ;o)

I'm pretty sure my flatmate is planning on running a weekend write-in at one of our locals, not sure where/when yet though.

I live in Barking but I'm a bus driver and my route (the 254) goes through Hackney and Clapton. Have always wanted to try out the Pembury Tavern since discovering it's a pub. Anyway, it would be nice to meet up some time if my work times don't clash :)

I live in Ilford and work in Stratford, and meet-ups would definately help motivate me, provided they don't clash with my work schedule (my boss is an evil bitch and I'm going to name a character after her and then kill her off violently in my novel).
Has everyone here done NaNoWriMo before? am I the only noob? :)

I'm based in Walthamstow for now. I'll be writing in French as I don't think I could write 1600+ words a day in English, but I would be very happy to meet people and to form a little writing group in the area :)
Lea Bridge Road is near me, sounds good for a meet-up.

I live in Stratford but work in central London. Would be great to do the odd East End meet up on the weekend, just to get to know some locals. Although I signed up last year this is actually my first time doing NaNoWriMo so I am looking forward to it. Fully expecting to fail specatularly but even writing over 10,000 words of an overarching plot line should be a record achievement for me, I'm a poet by nature!

Also you'll have to forgive my spelling (that's what spell check is for!)

Im new to it too, I have some of my work mates wanting me to base characters on them but they want to tell me what to name them and no one wants to have my badie as them.

I found this as I has a dream that I thought could be part of a story so I bought some how to books and found my way here (I cant wait to start, I have been in reasearch mode since.)

There is absolutely nothing here. There is only one cafe in the whole of Bow. It's very nice but it closes at 5.30.

I can cycle to some nicer places.

Hey guys, I'm new here and a Plaistow lass and this is my first NaNo. Would love to meet up with fellow writers and can commute to Stratford, Walthamstow and Leyton without getting into too many traffic jams or trouble. My location offering/ suggestion is the Black Lion Pub in Plaistow (lots of history right there - courtesy of Dick Turpin) might be a nice place for a Write-In. I may have to have a chat with the staff to see if it's okay. My contract at work ends this Friday so hopefully I should have the time to write - At long last!

I'm in Greenwich! Any other south-east type folks that would be interested in doing some casual mid-week meetups? I met some people at the kick-off last night who are in the area so maybe if we get a large enough group that would be cool.

The 69 is 24 hour and goes from Walthamstow Central (about 5 minutes from the village) to Leyton! That being said, after half term I have to go back to teacher mode and couldn't (er...SHOULDN'T) do any massively late ones anyway - but there are definitely some picturesque and quiet spots - as well as some nicely eerie ones - for some after dark NaNoing.

we seem to have so many Walthamstowians (and neighbors). This makes me really happy! I was planning on writing out and about on Saturday afternoons, and thinking it'd be really fun to do a sort of write-pub-crawl. So each Saturday hit up a different pub (and maybe decide which one we like best to make it a regular thing?). I was thinking of starting around two. The writing can carry on as long as we want and even morph into a good ole fashioned drinking session if necessary. What do you guys think? there seem to be so many E17ers that I'm hope a few want to join me, so I'll go ahead and start an thread. Pub suggestions? I was thinking starting with the Rose and Crown, the Nag's Head, then there's the Hare and Hounds... We need more Saturdays!!

In regards to this first meet-up, somebody name a place, preferably with good public transport links, and then we can arrange something thursday afternoon/evening to celebrate (and participate in) the first day of NaNoWriMo!

I moved to Forest Gate early this month although I've been saying that I'm living in Stratford until last week! I'm still quite a bit lost with all the London neighbourhood not being originally from this lovely city.
Anyway, this is going to be my third Nano and I hope this time I'll finally to manage to reach the 50K but... well, no plot, no story, no nothing at all so this is going to be so crazy that my be I'll get it right this time around!

The Wansted Flats idea - is appealing possible on Bon Fire night if we go as a collective with lights and beverages. Nags Head is good, might be like a needle in a haystack but definitely up for it. My brother works in the Goose Pub in Walthamstow, so as we have so many of you guys I might be able to sort out a write-in with them. It will be nice to meet up with you guys tomorrow if possible.
Yay - East London WriMo's!
I completed NaNo in 2011 with no problem whatsoever. I had the story all worked out and it pretty much wrote itself. This year I'm going to be a NaNo Rebel but for various reasons still haven't got started. Could do with a Write In and collective kick up the backside!
I'd love a meet up in Stratford - I have very limited mobility at the moment but hopefully in 2-3 weeks or so I could make it to Shoreditch or Brick Lane.

I lived in Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford and all around Hackney for years, and still know (and visit) a few friendly old faces in the area - mail me with local event details :)
