Good Morning Luxembourg WriMos!

I am most happy to announce to you that we now have an official locale for our organized group write-Ins.

EXKI
72, Grand Rue
L-1160 Luxembourg

Yesterday I dropped in and introduced myself and NaNoWriMo to Corinne, the manager of this EXKI. She immediately accepted my request for a few tables in the downstairs area. Actually, the downstairs area was my suggestion because we are, afterall, there to write, write, write. Corinne gracefully took the table tents from me and offered to laminate it and two very nice flyers for us. By now, our flyers should now be posted in the high traffiic area of EXKI.
I also left a pile of explanation cards at the cash register for curious patrons.

Corinne has offered to reserveand set-up tables for us for the 4 Saturdays of November from 3-6PM. Of course, you are welcome to come earlier, and outside of the "official" times. I planned a fixed time frame in order to have a definite framework, you know, like a dental appt, etc. Routine!!

So, from you, my dear fellow WriMos, I would appreciate your RSVP for the Write-Ins in order to provide Corinne with an idea of how many table and chairs to set up for us; Of course, if you don't know until 5 minutes before the write-In, it will definitely not be the end of the world. Come all the same!

Time to move on now. Looking forward to seeing you at Il Pavone this evening!
Have a lovely Saturday!
Yvonne

Hello Yvonne,

That is quite nice! :-) I should be in for all of them and the downstairs area definitely is the best part, relatively quiet and not so much traffic. It doesn't have the bookish surroundings as the Gare-one does but we can always clutter it up with stuff ;-)

Quick question because I can't remember: does EXKI have internet access? Would we have to pay for that or is it free? Just thinking about having a laptop with us to maybe chat with the people who are unable to make it and might sit at their various homes at a desk frantically typing away at one thing or another.

So yeah, count me in for all 4, unless something comes up short notice I should be there :-)

Thanks for setting it up!
See you tonight
Steph

Hello Yvonne!

Well done for organizing a writing haunt! Braveau! EXKI is brilliant for writing, they have great green teas, good coffee and free internet.

I usually go and write at the K'Berg one, but I look very much forward to join you all on Saturday afternoons.

My Admiral's hat off to our new ML. Well done!

With trepidation and excitement,
Cecile aka Tunturista

Ahoy Admiral Cecile!

I blush..

Yes, the K-berg is my usual haunt on the rare weekdas when I am free. Too bad that they are closed on Saturdays.

A nice round of applause for trepidation!!

See you,
Yvonne

Hi ho!

Such a great news! (I had a hell of a time with my internet connexion, seems to be sorted now!)

Please count me in for all the write ins! I can't wait to meet fellow Lux-nanowriters! :)

Yvonne, you're truly a star for managing to find us such a cool place! ^_^ Here is a special virtual hug for you!!!

Suzanne (aka Lylie)

Hey There, Suzanne,

It's terrific to read you again!

Glad that you approuve of our future writing haunt! But, really, the manager of Exki was just adorable and welcoming.
Thanks for the virtual hug. And to quote my late and beloved Dad, "hugs help you grow." I will apply this hug to my writing growth. :)

Hope the week goes quickly, for my anticipation to meet the rest of the Luxembourg NaNo buddies in person is great!

Eventhough I have to work Tuesday ( a first in 23 years of bank employment!), I shall make an appearence on Gmail chat whilst I compose at least my first 1.667 words.

Good Luck on your first quota!

All the Best

Mixed feelings about the week to go back quickly as I'm *finally* getting a LONG week-end (won't work until Thursday! and plan on writing as much as I can!) but can't wait to meet you all.

Did you get other replies (maybe from shy people who don't dare to post on the forum)? I'm quite excited to see how many writers will be gathered! And I will try not to forget my camera! :)

Cheers,

Suzanne

I am glad that you have a l o n g weekend. It will help you get a decent start towards the 50k (or +).

Decided to take the entire week of the 14th off. My plan is to churn out a lot during this time off. With my two teenies, one never knows what little surprises might come up. For this year I actually plotted and have a loose framework to follow. It's actually meant as a security blanket.

I am glad you asked about the newcomers. So far we have "tvforchickens", 'luxembourgmatt", "dawnrs" and "olivia44", who is a pledge for next year as she will be moving to Luxembourg. But that is not all. Before HQ wiped the site clean, we had a member count of 95. Afterwards the number was 93 as two WriMos from Germany left our region.
So, if my calculations are correct, we have a total of six new writers. Three have manifested themselves in the forum. The NaNomail I sent out earlier today is region-wide. Hopefully, the give us a sign. The counter went up to 100 this morning, but was back to 99 when I peeked in again after dinner.

Yes, great idea! Bring your camera! I reckon that our group comprises 7 for our first write in. We'll see!

Don't forget to set your clock back!

All the Best,
Yvonne

Heya! I actually live in Trier but Luxembourg is cheaper and easier for me to get to than the other meet-ups so count me in for at least this Saturday!

It will be interesting to meet other people doing this and hopefully help me get somewhere ;)

Yeah! Sounds I lost track of all the attendees for the write-in, but sounds like we might reach... 10 people! That does look like a kicking number for the EXKI Nano! (pun intended ;))

Looking forward to meet you!

A ha!!!! Now if the facts manifesting themselves does not merit a mammoth Mwahahah, then I am at a loss. You both seem to "like" things of a chocolate nature!

Ladies, I will do my best to requite one and all for Saturday. Out of curiosity, you would have to eat them (gobble??) them on the sly at Exki. Just hide them behind your coffee, or chocolate cup!

So far, we are 10 in number including myself. I just confirmed 12 to Corinne at Exki just in case we become yet more active and numerous.

My dear lovely ML, you forgot the obvious hiding place... BEHIND THE LAPTOP!!! (or netbook for some) XD

10 writers? This is going to be pure fun, I can already tell you this!
(and I did check my train timetable: I'll be arriving at Lux station at 2.45pm, so I'll be just on time at EXKI! :))

Suzanne, I neglected to tell you that the brownies never last longer than 10 minutes at my house. My children were born with a special brownie radar gene. They already begin to home in on them during the butter-cocoa fusion. It is a sight to see! I have never had one to hide! Hee Hee! Incognito brownie consumption...sounds risky, but delicious!

Have a lovely day off.....writing!

Hi Yvonne!

Well done for getting a write-in venue sorted! I'm no longer living in Luxembourg, so I'll be NaNo'ing from the Algarve this year. I will however be checking up on you all :)

Have fun everyone!

Hey there, Sam!

What a lovely surprise to see you. I was wondering if you would pop-in at some point.
Yes, I knew that you were Portugal. I keep up on my Get-Fit news. Hope you are Tim are doing fine.
Are you still adding to the NR Cookbook? You might be interested to know that I still use it religiously.
The recipes are easy to adapt to my eating adventures after gall bladder surgery. I even pestered my surgeon to purchase copies for his other patients. He thinks me loony!

Thanks for the lovely words. We have 10 active members now. It is still so much fun to NaNo one's self into exhaustion.
Good Luck on your 50k and drop in any time!

All the Best,
Yvonne

Oops, I opened the forum... I hope this thing won't eat all my time I could spend planning, plotting and writing. =E

Anyway, I'm coming on the first Saturday, if I may borrow my wife's mac... My own PC is 1600km away.

Oh, and I'll eat all the cookies you bring near me. Any sweets actually.

Same, also love baking but I think for this year we're set already hehe. Maybe I'll make something for next year ;-)

Hi Ada,
Great offer!!!!
We will make up a baking rota on Saturday If you would like, how about volunteering to bake for the TGIO get-together in December?
This is still in the embryonic stage and we need to plan it together;

See you on Saturday!!

Cheers,
Yvonne

Good to hear we have yet another joiner for our first write-in! :-)

Don't worry Kosti if you can't get your wife's mac, there is always the good old-fashioned pen and paper! Though of course, you'll have to be able to decipher your own writing later on when it's time to type it all up on hehe (I know from experience that this is not always easy ;-)).

This may not be the most spectacular way of thanking someone for harbouring a group of writers in their cellar but how about a nice bouquet of flowers or something along those lines as a thank you for Corinne? Or a nice plant they could display somewhere on their tables (I think they have a few of those somewhere on the top floor, apart from the huge green ones which love to hug the people going up and down the stairs.)
A flower is always nice, but not sure it's the best idea for Exki. Don't have any bright ideas for the moment.

Halp!

Does someone have an extra laptop I could borrow in tonights write-in? Talk about last minute warning... But we kind of have conflicting interests on the laptop for this evening at home and we didn't realize this before a moment ago.

Ouch, that sucks :(
Worse thing being I *do* have another laptop which came back from repair, but haven't reinstalled it yet,and it's too short now to put a system/drivers on it, I need 1h30 to get it ready and Maikie is picking me up in less than one hour. Dang!

Note for next Nano: I'll keep an emergency laptop ready and you promise you won't let us know about your conflicting interests at the last minute. Deal? :)

Well darn. =/ Yeah, that's a promise, though I'm beck to Finland next year. Probably. Thanks anyway.

I think I will get the laptop with me if no-one's got a spare, since mi wife promised it to me earlier and forgot it...

Hooray for Steph' who saved Kosti's day ^^

Nostalgic moment when we left Exki, the remaining waiter saying: "See you next Saturday"
We told him that it was over and he actually looked disappointed. So we promised that we would come back at some point =)

I think they actually like us over there, they got used to the bunch of crazy writers downstairs!
