YES! I'm in my 30s, and my friend G. is in his 50s, and we are both obsessed with P&F. I think it's the best kids cartoon to come along since Animaniacs. Which I was also too old for. But I don't care. :)
I was reasonably young when Animaniacs was new, and trust me it's way funnier when you're older. XD I wouldn't be surprised if P&F fell under that as well.
This is my FAVOURITE show!!!! I'm 21 and only slightly obsessed... in fact, my talking Phineas, Ferb, and Perry arrived yesterday and I skipped class to go pick up the package.
I walk around randomly quoting lines and singing the songs. Someone on my Tumblr told me I was too old for the show but I could care less.
Who is everyone's favourite character? I honestly can't pick between Perry and Doofenshmirtz, I go back and forth.
Love the show! I started watching it with my brother along time back and even after constant moves and heaps of birthdays, the Phineas & Ferb theme song can still be heard in our house :)
My fav character is good ol' Doof. He cracks me up. My favorite song is Missing my Nemesis, when Perry discovered that Doofenshmirtz had a new nemesis, Peter the Panda. It was so adorable.
I love Phineas and Ferb! I've been writing a ton of fanfiction lately! I'm not writing it for my NaNo, though. Not even about my next generation OCs nobody cares about, though it was tempting.
My favourite character is Perry, and Doofenshmirtz is probably the best cartoon villain I've ever seen. I love the optimism of the show, too.
I've gotten out of the habit of watching Phineas & Ferb whenever its on, but I still have to stop and pay attention whenever I find my brother watching it. The Doofenshmirtz jingle has become one of our ongoing jokes.
"I love the optimism of the show, too." I think this is one of the reasons I love it. It's just so happy and fun.
I don't really have a favorite character. Or rather, I love everybody. :P Doofenshmirtz is definitely really funny though.
I'm weird - I call everyone by their first name in my head at least most of the time. I tend to get a bit mentally tripped up with whether I want to write Doofenshmirtz or Heinz....lol
YES! Phineas & Ferb is my new favorite cartoon - the songs are terribly catchy.
It's optimistic and clever -- a combo you don't find much on television any more (at least with cartoons).
I'm a huge fan of Perry. Doofenshmirtz as a villian is intriguing, but I love his daughter a weeeee bit more! And of course, I love the boys. And I have a soft spot for Dad.
What's everybody's favorite episode(s)? I'll have to look up a list and see what mine are...
My favourite episode is the movie, which I guess... is not really an episode. My favourites are usually when the plots significantly intreact, like Ready for the Bettys or Wizard of Odd.
I really like Linda and Lawrence's relationship. They're actually portrayed as being in love, which is rare for cartoon parents. And who wouldn't be in love with Lawrence? He's such a dork.
Ready for the Bettys IS a great episode. And yeah, I love Linda and Lawrence's relationship. I was doing some reading on the writers, who pitched the idea for SIXTEEN YEARS before it took off (they also homage Tex Avery cartoons with the basic shape animation style), and one of them grew up in a mixed home and it was a great experience, so he wanted to show how positive it could be. (And who couldn't love dorky Lawrence???)
My favourite episode is hands-down "The Wizard of Odd." Absolutely hilarious, especially with all the Wizard of Oz parodies (most funny being Doofenshmirtz in the part of the Wicked Witch of the West- or, to quote his recurring line in the episode, "Not witch, warlock! It's a robe, not a dress!").
I also cannot watch whenever Lawrence is in an episode without thinking of Rocky Horror, since Richard O'Brien is Lawrence's voice.
Thanks to my three younger siblings, I watch Phineas and Ferb in insane amounts. As much as I love Perry, Doofenshmirtz and Ferb, though, my all time favorite character the dad, Lawrence. For some reason, he just reminds me of The Doctor, and I absolutely adore him. Also, I ship Baljeet/Buford.
The show just makes me so happy. I agree with the optimism thing. I'm not an optimist myself but it's still good to see some positivity on TV! I also think it is great that it's an all-ages show. I mean, it's technically for kids, but I know people of all ages who love it. It uses really clever humor that anyone can enjoy.
My favorite character is Baljeet, and my favorite song is Ain't Got Rythm.
PS The movie was brilliant, I've watched it twice. :)
It's only technically for kids because Disney markets it that way. I believe the creators have said that they just make the show for themselves without excluding kids. And I totally agree that the optimism is part of makes this show so awesome!
Quote:PS The movie was brilliant, I've watched it twice. :)
Dan Povenmire (creator) described it as "not necessarily a kids show, they just aren't excluded from the viewing audience." Considering he created Family Guy... :)
I read also that they worked on Rocko's Modern Life and The Simpsons. Pretty cool.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but it's on Netflix and I'm thinking it's a great way to start the weekend...!
I've only watched through the first two seasons (and seen some of the new ones on TV) -- does Candace ever become friends with Doofenshmirtz's daughter (did I just miss that somewhere), or is that a parallel that's never going to intersect??
They don't really interact at all. They travel together with the kids in Summer Belongs To You, and they do have a short conversation in when they're trying to use their phones in the Himalayas. Vanessa asks Candace what Ferb's name is short for, and Candace doesn't know.
They also exchange a line in S'winter when they're on the ski lift, say hey at the end of Hail Doofania when they see that they're wearing each other's clothes, and fight over the doll at the end of Finding Mary McGuffin.
I don't remember all that off the top of my head what are you talking about. Anyway, I probably missed some.
Thank you, Shwoo. :P I am excited that they have SOME screen time together because they remind me of me and my sister (I, obviously, am the cool villain's daughter). ;) She hates the show though. Typical Candace-type behavior.

"Aren't you a little old to be watching Phineas and Ferb?"
"No, no I'm not. Shut up!"
Because there has to be a Phineas & Ferb board. *shrugs* Have at it I guess. :P

Ferb: "...And for the ladies...rawr." EEEEEEE!!!
Also, Ferb's song on the plane. ADORABLE.

But I really LOVE the songs they make up, especially "Intimate Get Together", "There's a Platypus Controlling Me", and "Ain't Got No Rhythm".
