Is there a musical genre they haven't done yet? I was amazed when they did a Clash/Sex Pistols thing with the British cousin! And the riff on "Convoy" (complete with 8-track tape)! Back in 1985, if you asked me what the cartoon show of the future would be like, I would say it would be frenetic and colorful and musical! Part of the show's appeal for me is how positive Phineas stays regardless of what is happening (except when he is stuck on a desert island with just a sponge and a starfish, or when he finds out his pet platypus is really a secret agent). And Ashley Tisdale does such a great job voicing Candace. Candace can be "over the top" without being "over the top". Finally there is more subversive adult stuff packed into the show (and that makes it past the censors) than even on another favorite show of mine, The Powerpuff Girls! One of my favorite things in the show recently was the song in the Phineas Tower episode, which contained the line, "You got to depart if you want to arrive/No more bidin' my time with these internal rhymes." Which, since I love to write poetry, made me fall over laughing. The Candace voice acting is amazing (she really brings the crazy!), but the whole cast is good. Doof is another standout. He can just ramble on and on with the perfect amount of sarcasm or attitude or confusion or whatever the scene needs. And, of course, they animate Perry's movements and expressions so well, you almost forget that he doesn't talk.
