If there's anyone who is, dare I say it, going for quality instead of quantity this year (please don't throw things at me :P), drop me a line. I'm trying to write a polished second draft of my novel, and I'm using NaNoWriMo as an excuse to stay up really late and shirk my homework. I'd also be happy to do critiques--but preferably after NaNo.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Several years ago I tried to use NaNoWriMo to finish a novel that, at that time, I had been working on for at least 10 years. needless to say I did not have the discipline to do so and now at the 20 year mark I have decided to chuck the whole book (although pieces of it will go into the novels i am writing now). Sometimes you just need a "reason" to write/complete something.
Yay for quality! I think quality of the story is important too, not just word count. If the story's boring, I'm not going to read it, plain and simple. I'm a quality writer, not just a quantity writer.
I agree about not reading a boring book. Usually, I can consume books faster than the person next to has figured out what the weird shaped thing on the cover is supposed to be. But if it's boring, I maul through it slowly as the pages drag on forever. Eventually I snap the book shut and toss it (sometimes literally). And using Nano as an excuse? Been there, done that. this was my first year, and since bI was already getting near the end of my other novel that i started in January, I just used that one for my stats instead of writing a new one. I've finally finished the rough draft (thank you!) and I'm in the middle of making my quantity (150,000 + words) into pure quality. I realize as I get deeper into the book that I had lessw and less to edit. I get as I went on, my writing skill honed into something more mature than what I started out with. The begining seemed unrealistic due to the fact that I didn't have many skills, just a good idea. And I didn't really know my characters that well. I tried to make them say what I wanted to say. Now i know better. Characters take on their own personalities., and you've got to work with what you've accidentally created. Sometimes characters change, but it's gradual, a begining to end change. Like Henrick; he was a right arrogant prick at the begining of the story, but at the end he's a talented, well-meaning boy determined to help his best friend to the end. Then again, it could just be the fact that he finally got away from the orphanage director.... And I've done it again and written to much! Ah well, I'm not deleting.
I'm a tweaker. I re-read every few pages and edit. Quality is as important as quantity... though for NaNo, if I get under the deadline gun, I mad throw quality to the wind and just type my a... fingers off!!! : ) I'd rather produce something at least decently done instead of pure crap. That's a big part of my personal goal, though the ultimate purpose of participating in NaNo is to teach me discipline and inspire me. So far, so good! : ) Cheers to all!
Yeah Jeanze, I also get under the deadline gun, and it helps me to get my story going, otherwise I usually get stuck pretty fast.
Here I find that as long as I write every day, I can finish about 2000 words and then go back and edit which results in long nights with little sleep, but it is so fullfilling that I don't mind missing one class or two in the mornings!
Yah, I had the same idea. I actually think this is a really good place to do this because there's some competition that makes you want to write more, and better, but you also can get feedback from others about your ideas. You're lucky though, you can shirk your homework. Me, all of my work is homework. Yep, I'm a homeschool nerd.

Ah me too! I've got most of the story written already and I'm just trying to finish it. I'm not worried about the 50,000 word count, my goal this year is just to get a polished first draft in completion! It's been going on 4 years now just writing here and there, and its time to get her finished! Glad to see I'm not alone in the quality race :)
Hey all I am extremely new here and need some writing buddies. Unfortunately I am a very amateur writer but I usually write 1,300 words a night. This is my first year participating in this event but I would love some fellow fantasy lovers who rip my story to shreads to be a writing buddy.
I am happy to say that this is my second year in the nano ring! I completed it last year and got a bunch more people to do it with me. Thing is, none of them (besides one) are good for storyboarding! So, the quest begins for new BETTER writing buddies! I love fantasy and this year I am writing a fantasy/sci-fi cross that I'm using as a pilot story for an RP I am writing. There will be guns, magic, Androids, tragic romance, betrayal, and lots of brutal action. Of anyone else is interested in any of that stuff I would love to read what they write and help them out, since it's always a 2-way street!
Sounds like you and me are on a similar track. My novel is basically Urban Fantasy set in the early 22nd Century, so it's got some Sci-Fi elements to it, as well. It's also part of a larger universe, mostly set in the 27th Century, and is a blend of Space Opera and Fantasy: ray guns, starships, wizards, demons, threats to the whole Galaxy, all that fun stuff. I've written a few short stories set in the Universe, and plan on writing a series of novels following a group of mercenaries who are forced to save the Galaxy from evil demons, insane androids, and other threats.
How fun! You're in a slightly different setting than me (I'm closer to the traditional old-England setting than one with guns and androids), but I'm doing the same thing with the RP! My friend and I started one awhile back, then shut it down and totally revamped it. We were just getting started on the revamp when NaNo rolled around, so I'm using NaNo to write the backstory for my two characters. And though she's not doing NaNo this time around, it's been a great excuse to get her writing her own backstory too. Lots of fun! I may not be able to help with your setting much, but I'm all for tragic romances, betrayal and action. :)
Your next book sound amazing. Send me a copy will you?
I'm going to tone down on the fantasy for next year (because this year was crazy fantasy). Next year I'm simply going to write about a place in a miserable future where children are takne away from their homes and given a number due to when they were collected as well as two letters due to where they are housed. At age 16 they are deported to who-knows-where. Names are illegal, and if you are found with one, it could be punishable by death. Ver optimistic, right?
Hi everybody, I am a newbie and don't really know what to expect. I could really do with a patient, experienced writing buddy to offer me support and guidance and in return I will try to provide some comic relief and a readers' point of view, for I am a voracious reader and love to immerse myself in adventures new. I am also honest but thoughtful so I will give you my true opinion, whether sweet or sour but I will follow it up with a big, snuggly hug.
This site only has limited space for excerpts, not enough room for everyone's complete novel. So you don't actually post it on here for other people to read.
In December, a forum will open for novel swaps, but this month, we focus on creating them.
I'd love a writing buddy or two if anyone is interested in an urban (suburban, really!) paranormal fantasy/high fantasy/romance agglomeration. Sounds like I might not know what I'm doing, but I do - I just have to write the damn thing! I'm an editor by trade, so if you think you might a want a little help that way, I'd be game in exchange for some serious cheerleading and not-so-serious prodding. Thanks!
Your story sounds like one I could read for six hours straight (I really do, sometimes I miss lunch) and still want more. Mine's more of science fiction/fantasy mixed together in a jumble. If you're still open for buddies, holler at me! ^.^
hello all. this is my first NaNo so right now I'm searching (hoping with my fingers crossed) for writing buddies. Fantasy is my weapon of choice. Although I usually write young adult fiction, this year I'm doing something a little more adult. Mostly I'm aiming to tell a good story (aren't we all) with some crazy politics between the humans and all the "others." I'm none too sure if i'm getting my point across in my novel though. The politic aspect of it seems to fall flat somehow.
I've been working on my one novel No Ends for about 5 years now, this recent year i've had to revise the entire thing because I looked back and was like, what is this mess?? I've finally gained some common ground with my story, and became more organized. Especially by creating a summary and what not. Ugh, writing can be hard work sometimes, but its SO worth it in the end you know??? Just think of everything you can create!
Hi Gabbie, Wishing you well with your novel. I will love to have you as a buddie. Your name sounds like you could be one of the angels in my story, Angels in Waiting.
Don't be discouraged about the amount of time you have spent on your novel. I have another novel Quigley's Denise for about 14 years I've changed the whole times. But I have not given up on it yet. It is in two time periods and a gold mining town in Montana.
I'd like to read that. It sounds interesting. I haven't spent 14 years on a novel, but only because I just turned 15. I've started so many novels it's not funny. But on January 3rd 2011, I sat down on the computer and I told myself not to let this new plot go. It was too perfect; too me. And now the first draft is done.... And I talked too much again. I need to get better about writing short messages.
Hello!! I'm 14 and I am, also, looking for someone who can help with quality rather than quantity, and my help in return. I'm hoping for someone who can help between the ages 13-16. If you're interested, let me know!!!
A few answers to your questions -- you can get in touch with buddies via the forums or NaNoMail. You can exchange e-mail addresses -- via NaNoMail. (Don't put your e-mail address up on a public forum where anyone can find it.) The forums are open year round. And I've been in contact with some of my writing buddies for years, even though I've never met them in person.
Sure thing. I'm writing high fantasy this year with a hefty helping of power play, politics, palaeontology, and polyamory. I'm also working on a massive worldbuilding experiment on the side, because I am a masochist and I can't content myself with one project at a time. Anything else is in my profile; send me a message if you want to buddy up.
I'm looking for a writing buddy who wouldn't mind generally helping with my novel, since I have no real life buddies who'd be interested enough to talk about my novel. I'd like a person to talk with, to bounce ideas off of and let of steam when needed. I'll very gladly help with your novel in return : )
Of course! I actually have real-life writing buddies, but we always talk about their stories and not mine. I'll be happy to bounce ideas off and help with plot points, as long as the exchange is mutual.
I have one real-life writing buddy and a boyfriend who is usually subject to my writing critque, but I really need a WriMo Buddy as well. Unfortunately, I am a WriMo novice, this being my first year.
WandereringVixen your bio is so correct (I'm a female trombone and the other male ones do NOT compare!), I Love your synopsis, and happen to be obsessed with foxes.
I would be very grateful if you visited my page =) and hope you consider being my WriMo writing buddy!
Much love <3 to you either way!
I may also send you a pst in NaNo mail just in case you don't see this. I hope you don't mind! =]
I'm so interested in your story! Having read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, it's no wonder I'm excited. Your story seems fascinating and I hope you'll look at my page and hopefully add me as a buddy. Thanks! ^.^
Oh, your synopsis is very captivating. At first i was like "... glass jackers?" but by the end of it, I just wanted to flip to the first page! Kudos! If mine happens to strike your fancy, I would like a couple of writing buddies myself to throw ideas around with. I have a couple of RL writing buddies myself, but would like a few new friends as well =)
Yes! Please count me in!! I am ALWAYS in need of correction buddies that will actually give me advice. I only need so much "Oh, its just perfect! You don't need to fix ANYTHING!" I mean, some of that is nice for my self-esteem lol, but I'd like correction, advice and stuff. Of course this will be a mutual exchange, sounds like you'd like the same?
If you wouldn't mind having a buddy that is uterly blonde then I'll might be of some help. I know I'm old or anything (15) but writing is my life. Just give me a pencil and paper and you've made me the happiest girl in the world. I prefer fantasy because anything can happen, and obviously I cannot shut up. Anyway, I still love to write. I've already gotten a short story (Here's Looking at You) published due to Power of the Pen and finished the rough draft of my 150,000 + word first book to my 6+ book series.
This will be my second year to participate; in 2007, I crossed the finish line at just over 56k and finally have the chance to participate again. I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to be writing this year. I have three ideas that are in development stages, all of them fantasy with two of them containing some form of time travel. Feel free to add me - I credit my buddies last time with being one of the biggest factors in my win.
I'd love to have a writing buddy! My story is some sort of taboo romance fantasy with action and a possibility of divine magic/reincarnation. Not sure about that yet because I haven't figured out how it would fit in my novel's progression. Basically looking for someone to help me keep my story making sense, someone who I can exchange ideas and discuss characters and events with, and hopefully I can provide the same type of help I'd be receiving. =) Send a NaNo message my way if you're interested! =)
I'm new to NaNo, but have been watching it for the last couple of years, waiting for a chance when I'm not too busy to join in. So - finally - I'm here, armed with plot, characters that will inevitably refuse to behave, and a brain that fizzes when I poke it too hard. All I need is mah buds, to see me through this venture.
If anyone wants to take an interest, I promise to celebrate, commiserate and cooperate through the good times and bad. I hope to find people who can do the same.
*hobbles off, having dislocated something fairly vital* That damned dance...
Would (still) love to be your buddy! Sent you a Nanomail since the last ones were deleted in the new Nano year switch... I'm also on G+ and iChat/Jabber/Google Talk, which is great for group chats too.
Oh... the old stuff all went away! In with the new, then. I am writing a "traditional" fantasy but with a few twists, I hope. Female, non-Chosen One protagonist whose only quest is figuring out her place in the world. I have never done this before, nor have I ever put myself out there as a writer, though I have meant to for a very long time. The first 50k will be a very, very rough draft. I'm just hoping i can shut my inner critic up and get on with it. I must find my other buddies, had a few before the reset....but I would like more. We can have slumber parties and braid our hair and tell ghost stories and drink martinis. Not necessarily in that order. Love to hear from ya! CC creatingcaela.wordpress.com
I would love to be your buddy! I have a sort of similar theme of a non-Chosen heroine that is trying to figure out her place in the world. or rather re-figure it out. i have a synopsis up on my page if you'd like to see. lol and as you see by my name, i'm a "heroine addict" too. very nice by the way.
Writing buddies are great! I will probably have plenty "pick the best option" questions by November once my plot starts becoming real! I'm not even sure how many traditional fantasy elements are going into my story, but I was it to be the underrated ones. And deciding which things are underrated can be tricky, so I will be asking about that probably.
Heya! This is my first time doing NaNo since starting college. I generally write fantasy, usually along with some weird surreal elements. I also like historical fantasy, science fantasy, erotic fantasy, high fantasy, low fantasy, middle fantasy, top-of-the-shelf fantasy, satiric fantasy, cold fantasy, hot fantasy, and humorous fantasy.
I'm usually pretty chill about writing during NaNo, since I can usually count on a seasonal writing addiction to push me into churning out a few thousand words every day or two. (And now I have to wonder if Seasonal Writing Addiction is a real thing, haha.)
Anyway, feel free to message me if you're interested!
Hello! Have you done NaNo during high school? It's my first time and I would love to get some tips.
It's nice to meet someone who's pretty laid back about the whole "write 50,000 words in one month, omygosh, it's impossible!" I find writing to be relaxing, not something to be stressing over. I've seen a lot of newbies like me freak out about it, but I think we all just need to calm down. If we can stimulate our imaginations, writing out our daily word count should be easy, right?
Sooo here I am, a fantasy writer. This is my 3rd year doing NaNoWriMo but this is the first year I'm really getting into the social aspect of it all. I'm not particularly a "high" fantasy writer, more "middle" fantasy (think Graceling or the Ranger Apprentice series) but I am willing to have a buddy who writes any type of fantasy. I am a stickler for correct spelling and grammar and I would like it if my buddy was the same. I am serious about writing---I am finishing up a book and in the process of getting it published---and I would like my buddy to be the same, to be competitive and really serious about writing but be understanding when life gets in the way.
The reason I want a buddy is because I'd like someone who I can get honest critique/feedback from, be inspired by what they're writing, and challenged when they write more words than I do.
An excerpt of my book is not on my profile (because I'm kind of paranoid when it comes to stuff like that) but if you're interested please send some NaNoMail my way. I would love to write with you.
I'd love to help/read/criticize... I'm not very old so might not be much help but I just ADORE reading works-in-progress. Unfortunately, I'm writing a novel in french for this NaNo, it's the best prepared for a marathon, so do I still count as a buddy?
I'd love to have a writing buddy or two. I'm a notorious editor! Someone be my rock and put duct tape over my backspace key!
My story is basically a fantastical crusade/holy war that gets interesting when the gods themselves intervene and say " okay kids, you are being very naughty, cut it out or there will be serious consequences." And then nobody listens. The settings are rather like the American South in the Antebellum (pre-civil-war) era, leading a crusade into a place similar to British-occupied India, but with totally different governmental structures, and religions. I'm a big sociology nerd. Also I have limited internet, i check the forums once a day when i can, so if you want to be my buddy, could you please nanomail me? Yaaaaay! WRITING BUDDIES!
It's always good to have a few more writing buddies.
This year's Nano is my third. I won the last two, so hopefully I can manage another. This year, I'm going with a modern fantasy set in my university, where I am in my first year. It's mostly about stuff that's not really typical for fantasy (no saving the world from an evil wizard or any of that kind of stuff). No, it's more about leaving home for the first time and growing up and stuff like that, but with magic and elves and werewolves thrown in for good measure. (The elves and werewolves and things are, as it happens, also perfectly normal people who are going through the same problems, or similar.) It's not going to be too serious, but also isn't a comic fantasy. I'm not really sure how to describe it (hence why there's only one sentence of description on my profile).
So, yeah. If you want to be my buddy, Nanomail me. I'll try to reply as quickly as I can, and am usually here at least once a day.
Hi! This is my second year of NaNo, after just scraping through last year after a couple of furious writing nights :P This year I know more about it, and what an undertaking it is! I'm planning to write an urban fantasy novel set primarily on another world 'connected' to Earth ^.^ My IRL writing buddies and I have all gone to different uni's, so I'm looking for a writing buddy who...wait... no I'm just looking for a writing buddy full stop! I'm always happy to chat, so get in touch! :D
Buddies would be very welcome. I did NaNo for the first time last year and "won". This year I'd aiming for at least a cohersive first draft of part two of a planned trilogy inspired by the Exodus story in the Bible. You can find out a bit more on my page :)
Note: I will be away (without internet connection) for november 5-13, so if it's very important to you to have daily contact I'm not for you .....
Fifth year NaNoer, always on the lookout for buddies. I tend to write what I can only really describe as 'weird fantasy', but I love pretty much all genre fiction, so drop me a line if you feel like it. I'm actually considering writing two NaNo's this year, so a buddy I can compete with sounds like fun. :)
I write fantasy and I like buddies. This year I'm doing something that starts in the modern world and ends up in a fantasy world. Other than that, I don't know much.
I never know anything before I write. If you also start of with a vague idea, you're probably a lot like me!
It's my third year in NaNo... and I didn't write fantasy all three years. Le gasp! Last year it was SciFi.
'Lo all, This is my, hm, fourth year doing NaNo, I guess, but I've yet to get above 30k. I'm hoping for this year; I have a well-developed setting and characters, but need a plot for them...
me 2!! :D about your modern world then fantasy world. but my plot is elaborately planned out....yet i have had way 2 many detours and tangents.....oh well. detours + tangents + normal story = LOTS OF WORDS <3

I'd love a writing buddy or two if anyone is interested in an urban (suburban, really!) paranormal fantasy/high fantasy/romance agglomeration. Sounds like I might not know what I'm doing, but I do - I just have to write the damn thing! I'm an editor by trade, so if you think you might a want a little help that way, I'd be game in exchange for some serious cheerleading and not-so-serious
prodding. Thanks!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Your story sounds like one I could read for six hours straight (I really do, sometimes I miss lunch) and still want more. Mine's more of science fiction/fantasy mixed together in a jumble. If you're still open for buddies, holler at me! ^.^
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
hello all. this is my first NaNo so right now I'm searching (hoping with my fingers crossed) for writing buddies.
Let us become buddies, yes? :]
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I've been working on my one novel No Ends for about 5 years now, this recent year i've had to revise the entire thing because I looked back and was like, what is this mess?? I've finally gained some common ground with my story, and became more organized. Especially by creating a summary and what not. Ugh, writing can be hard work sometimes, but its SO worth it in the end you know??? Just think of everything you can create!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
yeah i agree.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Hi Gabbie, Wishing you well with your novel. I will love to have you as a buddie. Your name sounds like you could be one of the angels in my story, Angels in Waiting.
Don't be discouraged about the amount of time you have spent on your novel. I have another novel Quigley's Denise for about 14 years I've changed the whole times. But I have not given up on it yet. It is in two time periods and a gold mining town in Montana.

Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'd like to read that. It sounds interesting. I haven't spent 14 years on a novel, but only because I just turned 15. I've started so many novels it's not funny. But on January 3rd 2011, I sat down on the computer and I told myself not to let this new plot go. It was too perfect; too me. And now the first draft is done.... And I talked too much again. I need to get better about writing short messages.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Cool. that sounds so awesome. I just dont have the patience for a novel, i keep getting distracted, but i hope i will be able to complete one soon.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Hello!! I'm 14 and I am, also, looking for someone who can help with quality rather than quantity, and my help in return. I'm hoping for someone who can help between the ages 13-16. If you're interested, let me know!!!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Yes, please.

Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
A few answers to your questions -- you can get in touch with buddies via the forums or NaNoMail. You can exchange e-mail addresses -- via NaNoMail. (Don't put your e-mail address up on a public forum where anyone can find it.) The forums are open year round. And I've been in contact with some of my writing buddies for years, even though I've never met them in person.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'm looking for a writing buddy who wouldn't mind generally helping with my novel, since I have no real life buddies who'd be interested enough to talk about my novel. I'd like a person to talk with, to bounce ideas off of and let of steam when needed.
I'll very gladly help with your novel in return : )
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Of course! I actually have real-life writing buddies, but we always talk about their stories and not mine. I'll be happy to bounce ideas off and help with plot points, as long as the exchange is mutual.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'm so interested in your story! Having read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, it's no wonder I'm excited. Your story seems fascinating and I hope you'll look at my page and hopefully add me as a buddy. Thanks! ^.^
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Oh, your synopsis is very captivating. At first i was like "... glass jackers?" but by the end of it, I just wanted to flip to the first page! Kudos!
If mine happens to strike your fancy, I would like a couple of writing buddies myself to throw ideas around with. I have a couple of RL writing buddies myself, but would like a few new friends as well =)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Count me in! If you like we can do IM chats or meet in a chat room to work. Do you have G+ or Twitter?
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Me too! Me too! (as I jump up and down waving my arms behind everyone else that already said "Sure!")
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
absospositivlyloutly!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I would love to be your writing buddy. Maybe with a writing buddy, I'll actually win this year. :3
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
If you wouldn't mind having a buddy that is uterly blonde then I'll might be of some help. I know I'm old or anything (15) but writing is my life. Just give me a pencil and paper and you've made me the happiest girl in the world. I prefer fantasy because anything can happen, and obviously I cannot shut up. Anyway, I still love to write. I've already gotten a short story (Here's Looking at You) published due to Power of the Pen and finished the rough draft of my 150,000 + word first book to my 6+ book series.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'll be your writing buddy. Only one of my friends actually writes novels like me, but mine are fantasy, and hers, are, well, something else.
Plus it'll be nice to have a writer/wrimo to talk to
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'm always up for new writing buddies!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
This will be my second year to participate; in 2007, I crossed the finish line at just over 56k and finally have the chance to participate again. I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to be writing this year. I have three ideas that are in development stages, all of them fantasy with two of them containing some form of time travel. Feel free to add me - I credit my buddies last time with being one of the biggest factors in my win.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'd love to have a writing buddy! My story is some sort of taboo romance fantasy with action and a possibility of divine magic/reincarnation. Not sure about that yet because I haven't figured out how it would fit in my novel's progression. Basically looking for someone to help me keep my story making sense, someone who I can exchange ideas and discuss characters and events with, and hopefully I can provide the same type of help I'd be receiving. =) Send a NaNo message my way if you're interested! =)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
*does the Be-My-Buddy dance*
I'm new to NaNo, but have been watching it for the last couple of years, waiting for a chance when I'm not too busy to join in. So - finally - I'm here, armed with plot, characters that will inevitably refuse to behave, and a brain that fizzes when I poke it too hard. All I need is mah buds, to see me through this venture.
If anyone wants to take an interest, I promise to celebrate, commiserate and cooperate through the good times and bad. I hope to find people who can do the same.
*hobbles off, having dislocated something fairly vital* That damned dance...
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
LOL, I would be thrilled to buddy up. I usually do my writing through chat rooms or IM. I'm on G+ and twitter. Drop me a line so we can hook up.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Love to!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
ME! I would love to have a buddy!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'll be your buddie
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
ill be ur buddy!!!!!!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Would (still) love to be your buddy! Sent you a Nanomail since the last ones were deleted in the new Nano year switch... I'm also on G+ and iChat/Jabber/Google Talk, which is great for group chats too.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'm another person who loves having new buddies... though I'm not the most talkative of people. Also my story ideas can be a bit random so.... yeah.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Oh... the old stuff all went away!

Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I would love to be your buddy! I have a sort of similar theme of a non-Chosen heroine that is trying to figure out her place in the world. or rather re-figure it out. i have a synopsis up on my page if you'd like to see. lol and as you see by my name, i'm a "heroine addict" too. very nice by the way.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Writing buddies are great! I will probably have plenty "pick the best option" questions by November once my plot starts becoming real! I'm not even sure how many traditional fantasy elements are going into my story, but I was it to be the underrated ones. And deciding which things are underrated can be tricky, so I will be asking about that probably.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Mind being my buddy? :)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Hi all Fantasy Writers!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
NaNo mail coming soon..... :)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Awesome sauce!
I'm always open to having more than one writing buddy, so if anyone feels like we may work together well, send me a message. :)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'm in! I'd love to be buddies with the two of you!
I'll send you a message... :-)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Shall be sending you one along shortly :)
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
If it's not too many people I'd love to be your buddy too!! :) Sending you a message....
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Haha no, not too many people. Once November rolls around, I can't have too many people egging me on. ;D
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'd love to help/read/criticize... I'm not very old so might not be much help but I just ADORE reading works-in-progress. Unfortunately, I'm writing a novel in french for this NaNo, it's the best prepared for a marathon, so do I still count as a buddy?
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
I'd love to have a writing buddy or two.
I'm a notorious editor! Someone be my rock and put duct tape over my backspace key!
My story is basically a fantastical crusade/holy war that gets interesting when the gods themselves intervene and say " okay kids, you are being very naughty, cut it out or there will be serious consequences."
And then nobody listens.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
My bad. Didn't realize I threaded that. Crazy new layout. :D
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Hi! This is my second year of NaNo, after just scraping through last year after a couple of furious writing nights :P This year I know more about it, and what an undertaking it is!
I'm planning to write an urban fantasy novel set primarily on another world 'connected' to Earth ^.^
My IRL writing buddies and I have all gone to different uni's, so I'm looking for a writing buddy who...wait... no I'm just looking for a writing buddy full stop! I'm always happy to chat, so get in touch! :D
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
My first year doing this and my friend suggested that I get a Writing Buddy (either online or at school). I'll mail you.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Hello everyone!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Evenin'.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Good day, fellow fantasy-author-people.
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
'Lo all,
This is my, hm, fourth year doing NaNo, I guess, but I've yet to get above 30k. I'm hoping for this year; I have a well-developed setting and characters, but need a plot for them...
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
Looks like you made it so far... congrats!
Re: Fantasy Writing Buddies
me 2!! :D about your modern world then fantasy world. but my plot is elaborately planned out....yet i have had way 2 many detours and tangents.....oh well. detours + tangents + normal story = LOTS OF WORDS <3
