What clothing item do you hate with a burning passion?

We all have clothing items that we think are impractical, uncomfortable, and just plain annoying. Tell me your least favorites! You can supply a reason but you don't have to.

For example:

Belts.

They're just so annoying! They look tacky, it's like 'Howdy partner, I'm the new sheriff in these parts'. They pinch you weirdly and they have more holes than are needed. I hate when people put their cell phones on their belt.

I sometimes use belts, to help some of my pants stay up. They are practical that way.

Personally I hate jackets with short waists. They look stupid and feel stupid. I prefer coats.

booksntea

I hate those kinds of jackets! They make 90% of the wearers look so disproportionate!

Steampunk avi8or
42944 words so far

True. The only people who can wear them are super thin. I think they're fine if they have short sleeves, because then it's more like a little shoulder warmer thing. But that would be really impractical. Yeah jackets with a short waist aren't such a good idea...

I love belts, it can give women a waist and makes trousers look so much better. I can see what you mean about big buckles but not belts. :D

For me it is Sequin tops or dresses. It makes the person look like a disco ball. They catch the light and are really distracting. They also kind of freak me out!

BAHAHA! Yes, sequins are very scary looking. I promised myself I will never wear sequins or ruffles. ICK ON BOTH COUNTS.

I can't stand Ugg boots. They don't look good on anyone!

Not a fan of tube tops either.

Steampunk avi8or

*high fives you*

Ugg boots are Uggly. Plus all the people who are 'popular' but not popular with me wear them. Tube tops are also not good, especially when they show the bellybutton.

This is more of a brand than an item, but Juicy Couture sweatshirts.

Chumsy17
50159 words so far Winner!

Not only are Uggs uggly, they're made of sheepskin. The sheep are castrated without painkillers and slaughtered while they're still consious and able to feel pain. There are so many other cruelty-free options, and Uggs aren't even that cute!

Chestergirl28

I hate Uggs!!! They are, indeed, Uggly. And Uggs are not worth the hundred-and-some dollars you have to pay for them. And, Chumsy17, I used to hate Uggs, but now I really hate them. Those poor sheep!!!!! It's sick. Sick sick sick sick.

high heels.

They are pointless, they are uncomfortable (especially if you have flat feet) and they throw off your balance. Why my mom kept trying to get me to like the I don't know. Why are these monstrosities considered more professional than flat shoes? I think walking into a room without busting your butt is more professional.

Paper Novas
50003 words so far Winner!

Agreed. I can't even wear slightly raised shoes. I wanted to buy these shoes the other day but they weren't really flat, maybe with one inch heels. I tried to walk in them... and almost fell on top of some little kid. That's why I have never ever tried to walk in anything other than flats and sneakers again. Especially to dances, for some reason people think that wearing high heels is an obligation, when everyone knows that after an hour or so they're gonna end up barefoot anyways, or switching shoes xD

Lady_Indis_Dress
52027 words so far Winner!

Especially stillettos. They are just...so...wrong!

Red Queen

What?! Stop bashing my poor high heels :O

But seriously, I *love* having heels on my shoes. I'm a rather short person, so I do what I can so I don't have to ask someone any time I need something from the top shelf at the grocery store...
They have to be comfortable, though. I have 10-cm-heels (that should be about 4 inches), and they are so comfy I can wear them on a shopping spree. But these are rare, so I unfortunately don't have many pairs of high heels.
Shoes in which I can't even walk from the front door to the car are horrible, I'd never wear those...

Itzika

I don't like stilettos, but I do like chunky heels. I have one pair of boots with a little tapered heel of between half an inch and an inch. That's the smallest heel I have. Everything else is the size of the actual heel of the shoe. Perfectly easy to walk in.

LilyLariaLaton

Yes high heels do get uncomfortable depending on how high you get, but I have to say I love them! Which kinda stinks since I'm already almost 5' 10" and I already tower over half of my friends. Anyway, back on point I do like stillettos every now and then, I could never wear them on a regular basis though.

I, too, hate high heels. Not only do they look bad, they damage your calf muscles and the bones in your feet.

Spuggey
101679 words so far Winner!

I have to add my vote for the hatred of high heels. They just hurt so much and it's a kind of cultural thing that should be thrown out with foot-binding: women should suffer terribly to meet some ideal. NO.

Shorts. They are uncomfortable

Itzika
1493 words so far

Specifically, short shorts. I have jiggly thighs. They look terrible in short shorts. Bermuda shorts or guys' shorts are fine. Short shorts--no thanks.

Spuggey
101679 words so far Winner!

I LOVE shorts. I'm a woman who refuses to wear skirts or dresses, because I find them uncomfortable, so if it's summer or I go somehwere hot shorts are the only option. That said, I agree with Itzika below me! Short shorts are grim. They're terribly uncomfortable. I wear men's shorts, down to the knee. I look scruffy, but I don't care!

:D

And if people pull them up way too high it's BAD.

Flip-flops. They are one of the most impractical styles of footwear ever invented. May as well go barefoot, really.

Spaghetti7

Crocs. If they're comfortable, fine, wear them home, but please don't take those things out in public *shudder*

Any kind of clothing thats really tiny. It's like they just painted the clothing on. "Tired of wearing real clothes? Introducing, paint on clothes!"

Paper Novas

I hate it when girls get these huge shirts that are so loose they have to tie them up. I mean, seriously, you should have bought a smaller shirt. It's understandable when you order them though (like at my school, where a medium is really an extra large xD).

ArtsyGal

Hmmm. . . . let me see. . . . turtlenecks, crocs (seriously? What is the fascination with them? Their UGLY!!!))

booksntea

I love turtle necks! I mean, there is a good chance that the turtle neck someone is wearing looks uber dorky, but there are some that are quite fetching!

Itzika
1493 words so far

Why you be hating on my turtlenecks? I love my turtlenecks!

Steampunk avi8or
42944 words so far

Sweatshirts without a zipper in the front so if you want to take it off you have to slide it over your head, usually causing your shirt to go up a little bit. And everyone stares when you take one off in class, it's like 'I'm not crazy, I'm just trying to yank this sweatshirt off my head!'.

MCR_dynamite
50058 words so far Winner!

Thongs and G-strings. Why would anyone even wear them? My nephew laughs when I give him a wedgie, but does anyone actually enjoy them so much that they purposely buy underwear that do that? Really?

booksntea

THIS. THIS. THIS. What's the point of even wearing underwear at this point? Just go commando and spend your money elsewhere.

Itzika
1493 words so far

This right here. Apparently thongs can actually give you a UTI, too. But aside from that, my mom got an eyeful when she was watching my martial arts class and we were doing rolls. One of the women did a forward roll, her pants slid down, and she was wearing... guess what? Yeah.

Spuggey

Ha ha ha! Glad someone mentioned the infections because that freaks me out so much! My mum's always advised loose cotton knickers and she probably has a point!

Red Queen
25045 words so far

^ this. I have no idea why anyone would wear those things. It's made of less fabric than a handkerchief, and the only time I tried wearing one I had the constant urge to pull at it. NEVER again.

Also, tights. They are useful and keep your legs warm and stuff, but I hate having to wear them. I usually go for stay-ups if the weather permits. At least they don't show above the waistband every time I lift my arms...

Halo2

Shoes. No, really. Buying them is a nightmare as I refuse to wear anything that isn't 100% comfortable. Therefore I tend to live in hiking boots or flat sandals, depending on season. And don't get me started on the living hell that is stilettos.

That new trend for shorts to be so small that the pockets stick out past the hem.

Leggings as pants.

Ominous Rain

THANK YOU. Last time I checked, leggings were to wear under other things. Even skinny jeans aren't tight enough for some people? Come on.

Princess Binky Lemontwist

I hate leggings anyway. They are very uncomfortable

Chestergirl28
25843 words so far

I do not get the point of wearing leggings as pants. I can see the outline of people's underwear when the wear leggings without anything over them. My friend always wears them as pants and it drives me crazy! And she doesn't realize how... ridiculous it is.

"And my mom doesn't like it when I wear leggings without something to cover my butt so then I had to back upstairs and get my peacoat, and I can't wear my peacoat without a scarf, so then I had to find one!" she said when I saw her on Saturday.

*facepalm*

Shoulda known you'd beat me to this, Obi!

Tights/leggings as pants annoy me to no end. Anyone who follows me on Twitter has seen me rant on this subject before.

And Uggs! And that trend of wearing scarves with your shirt no matter what... and and and oh dear, I need more time to rant on this one.

Nylons! Oh, how I hate them! They're not comfortable and they rip so easily! Argh!

Toms.

Princess Binky Lemontwist
52377 words so far Winner!

Pantyhose!!!! ARRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loathe it, with my last breath I swear I will destroy this cursed article of formal clothing!!!!!!

Shiral

Totally agree about pantyhose, tights and high heels. Shirts that don't cover a guy's big hairy belly are another "no" for me.

If you're going to wear form fitting clothes, as a general rule, be a fit, hardbody. That's the only way bicycle pants or tube tops or shorts or bikinis are going to look good. Have mercy upon yourself and others, when in doubt, don't wear it!

Itzika
1493 words so far

Well that's a little... No. I will not. I like my fitted T's, and I don't care if I have a bit of a belly. I don't care if very curvy women wear fitted clothes--I love the curvy-all-over body type, and even if I didn't, it's not up to me what they wear. And if you don't like it, don't look.
