Here's a cool one called Fake Name Generator. It comes up with a full name, address, birthdate, mom's maiden name, occupation, height, weight, and blood type!
I'm looking for a word-association generator for help with title names. Anybody know of one? For example, I want to type in "sick" and get words like virus, contagious, airborne, vaccine, etc.
What you are looking for is a reverse dictionary. A popular one online is http://www.onelook.com/reverse-dictionary.shtml. There's also a good paper one called Flip Dictionary put out by Writers Digest.
onelook.com is a really great resource for that, as Anysia mentioned. If you want to search there for related words, type ":sick". You can also do more complex searches like "b*:sick", which will look for related words that start with a B.
The best name generator I've ever found is www.behindthename.com/random/ Not only does it generate some cool names, but you can decide what nationality you want them to be from. And, since it's from the 'behindthename' site, you can click on the name you like to see more info! LOVE it!
This one is great for fantasy names. Super helpful if you are looking for a specific type of name as well. I used this one for many of the names I used, hope you guys find it helpful as well
This site has 3 really good generators: Plot Scenario Generator, Character Generator, and Everyday Problems Generator. The first gives you an event and a conflict. The second gives you your character's traits, weaknesses, and most prized possession. The third gives you your character's fears, beliefs, quirks, and problems. http://www.archetypewriting.com/muse/idea_generators.htm
The next site lets you choose what part of speech you want your random words to be (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc.) http://watchout4snakes.com/CreativityTools/RandomWord/RandomPhrase.aspx
This third site generates 100 words at a time. http://mnemotechnics.org/x/3.1415926/t/words.php

Re: Random Generator List
I already have a thread on this, but I'll post it here for posterity:
Check out an AIM bot with the screenname NANOWRIMOBOT. Send it commands like:
names male 5
names female 10
names mixed 15
names fantasy 20
Or type "help" for a list of less directly useful commands.
