Sure i was a hermit for four weeks and sure my novel isn't done yet, but I had fun. I have over 800 word. I proved to myself I could type fifty pages and live to type more. I like deadlines. They're fun.

I do. Without the end of the month deadline, I'm finding it hard to actually write my NaNo everyday (handwriting is not a problem, but I'm not allowed to do that until the days words are done). Apparently my self imposed deadlines aren't good enough :(

Definitely miss the daily grind, the push to just write a few more words, telling myself I'm almost at the daily goal (and then going way over, but that's another story). I've missed it so much that after less than two weeks, I turned around and started it over again. I miss the word widget, but now I'm getting my daily writing fix. I'm starting to wonder if I need a 12-step program....

I miss the stress that it gave for sure. There was always the stress of parents demanding me to do my homework, brothers whining that I have to get off the computer, and that was always annoying. But it actually made me accomplish something!! I've gotten so lazy, and I keep telling myself 'Oh, I'll work on it later today' Later today comes, 'I'll work on it tomorrow' Procrastination sucks.
I really need something like it again so I can finish the series sometime during the early New Year. Afterwards, all I have to do is edit a heckuva lot, and it'll finally lift off the ground.

I really miss it! I've tried writing other novels, but nothing comes close as the stress and deadlines of NaNoWriMo, and there are less people here now, meaning a lesser community, and it makes me sad!
I really miss stressing over my plot line, arguing with my wordcount dragon about him biting my feet, talking to my characters about what they want to happen next, and having my mum sit me down and tell me I was going insane!
November'11 was my first NaNoWriMo, and I'll never forget it. I just hope I can take part in many, many more! I want to be a 70 year old NaNoWriMo participant!!!

I definitely miss the stress - like you Kay, I only seem to get anything done without the deadlines. As long as there area a few good, active members here, I'm sure we can organize something other than just NaNoWriYe and JaNoWriMo...they just don't seem to carry the same oomph and pressure as NaNo does.

I do tend to think about using Screnzy to rebel and write my novel instead - 100 pages of a script just doesn't seem to stick in my mind as well as 50,000 words of a novel. Its just a thought at the moment, but a very strong thought.

Yep, once again deadlines are the only way I get shit done, because it makes me work to hit that spot, I try to write now but with my College work and mock exams in February I'm wanting to do more revision for my exams and that on top of writing is quite hard really.

But yeah, I almost miss the stress of nano, and being able to talk about what i'm writing with my mate who does nano, and it gave me something to do in November, because as much as I hate to admit it, my social life isn't too good, due to college and all bogging everyone I know down in work it makes going out hard.

I definitely miss the stress. I'm working on WriYe at the moment, but I agree - it's not the same. I'm trying to write a million words this year, which basically means doing a NaNo every month of the year. I'm signing up for as many of the monthly challenges as I can find, but it's not the same. I guess I forgot how much write-ins helped me during NaNo. I need word wars and local people pushing me to write.

Nope, my stress level is FAR higher now than in NaNo. During NaNo, I had an excuse not to do the laundry, clean the kitchen, clean the living room, get the kids to basketball practice (and COACH basketball), etc, etc. Now I want to write, but don't have any tolerance from people for not getting the rest of it done . . . and soccer season is fast approaching.

I'm seriously considering starting Milwordy in July. (May is finals, and that is the one month I refuse to NaNo in. Then I'm gone all June. Otherwise, I'd do it sooner. :P)

I miss it. I miss it a lot. I never finished, but it was great fun and it made me realize that writing isn't supposed to be perfect the first time around, it takes work. It also gave me the best answer ever to "So what did you do today?" The answer? "I blew up a children's hospital. In my novel." I always paused before I mentioned the novel, and it was HILARIOUS to see their expressions.
