Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Hey all, I'm Emilia (prefer Emmi, but it's cool either way) and I am here to bring you
the officially unoffical NaNoReMo thread (Part ONE?!).
This is just a place where people who signed up for Redemption Month
(over here: http://nanowrimo.org/en/forums/life-after-nanowrimo/threads/46064?page=1 )
can chat while writing their novels. Anyone can come in and chat as long as it's about writing!

I created Redemption Month after losing NaNo for the first time this year (so tragic...) and I thought I might as well see if anyone else would be up for redeming themselves (or finishing their NaNos or writing short stories or etc.) and a whole lot of people signed up. Anyone can join, and you don't even need to write 50,000. :)
This is just a supportive community for those of us who are still here and writing even though NaNo has been over for two months now (two already?!).

In order to prompt discussion, I have a question to ask you all:
Who's your main character this January?

Yay!! I was going to try for a NaNo in December but failed miserably so this sounds great.
Answer: I'm going to finish my Trapped series, and this time around it's Kristen, Raevin, and possibly Trinity? Wow, three and they're all females! o.o

Victor Taylor: Swordsman/ Tesho Majir (Blade Mage)
Jinx: Bookstore worker/ Tanor Majir (Spoken Word Mage)

I should probably add the Scout (a monster similar to the Japanese kamaitachi, or sickle weasel), but as I have little in the way of him, I'm leaving him out for now.

Hey all!

I'm here to finish my Nano. 108,917 words, and still not done. Can we say long winded? LOL. Hopefully this month I'll finally type those magical words -- "The end!"

My MC is a mad scientist named Dr. Benjamin Brutus. He's unbelievably sexy and fantastic, but when his wife dies, he kind of spirals into a depression. So he does what any self respecting mad scientist would do -- he brings her back to life.

So, I'm working on The Drakkon Reborn series first book but I don't know what it's called yet...
FMCs: Aria Yang and Willow Subin
MMC: Truvik Survik

So far I have 9K out of all 55. :3

May be a little battered and bruised when I get through, but I'll get there, Lol. World building is going great, thanks for asking. At least with the character department. I have vague ideas as to the world itelf. But getting the characters' personalities helps give a glimpse as to the place they live in. How are things going for you?

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

You know, for me -- characters are really what makes/breaks a book. I always remember my favorite characters from books, sometimes little else. So if your characters are good, your readers will fall in love with them and that's half the battle right there :) I remember being in high school, so in love with Mr. Darcy. Could I tell you the plot/scene of Pride and Pred? Nah. But I can describe Mr. D to you to the T! LOL.

Anyway -- my book's limping along. My FMC and MMC had a very romantic scene yesterday, which is fun for me to write :):):) Today, I'm limping along, I think because I know FMC has to die in a few scenes, and I'm going to miss her ::Tear:: ah, I'll get over it.

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

I am right there with you with Mr. Darcy. Except for me, my first preference is Captain Wentworth(Persuasion) *sigh* :)

And I agree too, if the characters are not exciting then it doesnt matter how the houses look or where the houses are at all....

Aw, I love romantic scenes(they are so hard for me to write though, but I still love them :) ). I understand limping along knowing your FMC is going to die. It's so hard writing those scenes. In my last book, my FMC died, I knew she would from the very beginning(it was based on a headstone, so death was obvious), and still, I was bawling when she died. I tried to make it as heroic and romantic as possible though, to give her death a meaning. I hope you can get through the limping stage without too much trouble.

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

I'm trying my hardest to finish off a short story that I started last April so it's very much a 'redemption' month for me! At some point I need to go back and sort out the mess that is my past NaNo novels as well, but I figure if I start small it will be harder to fail. *sheepish grin*

Main character is Meg, short for Megan (last name unknown) and I'm roughly 3k into a planned 8k story. I feel silly having gotten stuck at what amounts to a Day 5 wordcount-- You'd think after NaNo this would be easier! :P

Ah, poetry's great... where ever single syllable counts. Takes a lot of practice, though, and for course reading. I've been writing/publishing poetry for about 5 years. Actually, I'm MUCH more comfortable writing poetry -- fiction is my secondary "spec" heh... something new I'm trying just to stretch my imagination. I don't know if I can write fiction, but hehe that's not stopping me from trying.

I was wondering too how far it goes :)

I'm glad the cooking is better. I try to stay away from the oven(unless its for cupcakes and cookies, any dessert thing). Although I did a quesidilla the other night and it came out good. Toast is a very tricky thing, just how high does one put the switch for toasting????

Well, it's the words that count anyway (until you come to edit) - that's what I keep telling myself because my plot sucks. So at least you're not behind your target... like me again...

New word learnt: quesidilla. Can't say it. Don't know when I'll use it. But thanks. The worst part about toast is spreading the butter. I mean, you need a masters degree to figure that out!

You'll be happy to know I did 577 words yesterday, giving you a chance to catch up. Currently at 21,229. Not going to write much today either :-( I've also come to the conclusion that I'm not a fantasy guy. Why I decided to write fantasy, I don't know. After I finish this novel, I'm going to stick with sci fi.
I'm editing what I have, mostly. I'm adding scenes where needed, moving a few around. That's the intermediate stuff. Then I have some real character and plot issues to work out -- that's the hard stuff.

Whether or not I do a complete rewrite will depend on what I have when I finish this draft.

My hero ends up on the moon accidentally on purpose (not his) and spends the first third of the novel there, trying to cope and get back to his regular life. The second third takes place in Chicago, where he does more research into the problem he found on the moon, and where he blows the whistle. The final third has him hiding out in Ann Arbor from both the bad guys and the good guys (they don't know he's a good guy, yet), finally ending up in jail. That actually ends up being the best break he's had since he landed on the moon. While he's on Earth, his friends back on the moon are aiding and abetting him all the way.

I have to admit, it's been fun working this one.

Lol, ah yes, the butter spreading. I have to admit, I am like my grandfather with this. We are both freakishly obsessed with getting every centimeter of bread covered, smoothly, evenly. It takes time and practice. Mom and Grandma roll their eyes at us. They could be halfway done eating and we are still spreading.

I am smacking myself cuz giving myself the weekend off has only made me slack. So, seeing as you are now at, or rather over, 21k, I'm getting back. Seriously, bringing the document up now. Mmhm, yep.(21k?! oh man. can't you slow down for me? :) )

Fantasy can't be too hard for you, seeing as you are at 21,229 :)

Yeah, I'm not really sure how I did it. But I'm not gunna think too hard on it. I'm not sure how long the story is, figured originally around 25k, now thinking a little closer to 30k. Short, I know.

I hope it turns around and you start liking your story again. Isn't it rebellous to count two stories as one word count? :)

My Main Charaters are Skylar an escaped convict and known Rebel, Evan a hardcore prision gaurd/goverment security officer (severly to mildly insane), and Bradley a trainee cop who is caught between helping the goverment he's been taught to respect or Skylar the only person to show him respect and friendship.

I think it's a kind of cool story, it's like Si-Fi action-y thing. annnyywway i better go the bell just rang. lol Nanoing at school.

Today's been another wasted day for me now... Except I've come up with the idea for my sci fi book :-) tbh, I think I'm gonna start that instead. I know I said I'd finish the fantasy one first (and I'm feeling really, really, really guilty for not finishing what I started) but it's just not happening. I'll keep it to one side and maybe come back to it. And, as penance, I'm going to write at least 50k from now til the end of Jan (eek).
In some cases, it's pretty obvious I need to move things. Frankie can't re-route Brian before she learns how to do it, so I have to include a scene where she figures it out. On the other hand, Brian will still be a wanted terrorist until Strathcockle's aid gets him off the hook, and that happens after Strathcockle resigns, so the resignation scene has to move back. That kind of thing.

Since this is my first novel, I'm not as facile as I'd like to be with recognizing good pacing. The kind of scene exchanges you're referencing fall in that category. I had a lot of problems with that at the start of the novel. I think I've switched out at least three scenes in various combinations before I hit on what I think works.

It's been a wasted day so far for me too. Busy morning, now doing tax stuff. Oh, the joy. Woohoo. But I will get some writing done. I will.

I'm happy to hear you have the idea for your sci fi, that's proof today hasn't been totally wasted.

Your poor fantasy characters, pushed aside, being forgotten. I can hear them crying now....Poor things. Tsk tsk. :)
Maybe it's for the best right now though, maybe some space is needed.

The fantasy characters of mine can cry all they like. I knew I was writing a poor story and the wrong genre. Sci fi's my thing. Got a day off tomorrow too, but I'll probably only manage 7k since I'm travelling home in the morning. Not sure yet, but might consider aiming for 80k with this novel. These past three days I've gotten nada done on my nano... another project had to take priority. Gwah! I mean, it's all good, it's all writing. But still, there's this guilt for abandoning the nano, which has me determined to write a bit tonight. My characters are mad at me, they stopped "talking" to me! :( LOL.

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Well, it's quite simple really... I was in a hotel on my own from 9 til 7, so I had nothing else to do. I got a few cans of coke, set Write or Die to 200 words in 8 mins, and started writing. I just aimed to reach 200 words every 8 mins, and broke the whole thing down into manageable chunks. Then I could write around 1k every hour, with small 2-3 min breaks inbetween each 8 mins to stretch and recharge. It works!

Started writing today at 12 noon, so hopefully I'll get at least 7k done today. But I'm aiming for 10k again, just to annoy you. Told you to watch this space ;-)

Oh, and my new story has the same setting as my November novel, which I'm kinda using as a guide to help structure it. That helps too :-)

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Thanks! I think the key is to have nothing else better to do at the time. Too often I get tempted to go on the net (which is what I'm doing now - and I'm going to get back to writing after I finish this reply) or pop a dvd in or something. But yesterday I didn't have a choice really, so I cracked on with it. Similar to you being in a car... you had nothing else better to do, so you wrote 7k

Haha, my characters don't talk to me... They beg me not to throw them into horrible situations or scare them silly... but I ignore them. It's a cruel world lol.

Well, you're gunna be bummed to know-I'm not annoyed, I'm impressed. At some point you'll pass me anyway, because your story is longer than mine anyway.

I never got into the Write or Die things. Too stressful for me and then my mind goes blank. Which kind of ruins the point of writing.

I'm glad it's going great. Keep it up and I'll send you over cookies :)

Lol, I'm glad you're impressed! I aim to please ;-) how long do you think your story will be??

I see your point. I guess you like to take your time with writing :-) I find Write or Die helps. A lot. I get into a flow when I use it, and if I slip up, it warns/forces me to keep going. Without it, my pace would slow, and I'd be less interested so I'd give up quicker.

At 14k+ now. 10k seems unlikely for me today, but we'll see.

Originally I thought 25k, but I've already passed that, and still have quite a bit left, so somewhere between 28-30k I think. Which would be cool, cuz the longest story I've written is 28k. It'd be fun to pass that.

I go in spurts with writing. It depends on the scene and how detailed it has to be. Sometimes I write really fast(usually happens when I'm getting to the end), and sometimes I take my sweet time.

You're doing good. Can't always have a 10k day ya know :)

I won't tell you how much I've written then!

I find, when I'm in a rut (in a story I like!) I'll do something drastic. Really drastic. Do something completely out of place, like employ ninjas/mamoths/robots/axe-wielding-maniacs/zombies to give my MC a hard time. Then, after the dust settles, go about explaining what just happened :-P somehow, it works.

Also, you've never written more than 28k? Want to help you now. Try having your bad-guy turn out to have a behind-the-scenes master that your heroes have to take down. That's like starting your story again and should double your word target instantly :-)

How many words? I won't be jealous :)

Lol, I have yet to include ninjas(unless you count the little brother who is always dressing up as something and sliding down the stairs to his hideout, or to save the world....)

Nope, well, technically it was 28,703 words. So I guess it's, Ive never written anything over that :(

I may actually be able to use that suggestion in some spot, thanks for the tip. I really do want to write that 50k novel and am working to get there. It is my #1 goal on my bucket list. I'm hoping that my fantasy story will be that one. Cuz I know this one is not :/

Just made it to 18.5k :-) not done for the night yet! Seeing if I can do two 10k nights in a run (think I will at this rate lol). Then, tomorrow, I'll settle back to a modest 2.5k day as a reward for my hard work.

I'm determined to help you get to 50k by the end of January now :-P

Maybe you'd be suited writing a different kind of story? Like, if it's fantasy (for example), have your character have to travel a long long long distance and every town she gets too, she has to help the townsfolk... thus giving you lots of sub-plots to deepen your main plot (and add to your wordcount).

Or, in your current one, have Tempest get lost in the wilderness and force her to make a journey from town to town trying to find her way back... helping the local townsfolk on the way...

Or get her lost in the wilderness and have her meet a tall dark handsome stranger... who helps her help the townsfolk (obviously! What else would he do with her?)...

currently at 27,853 and at the end of the story, basically. I could tell today was the end day, I could feel it in my bones.

It just so happens that she does go in the wilderness. She is running from a crazy man. She is also on the run with a guy, a soldier who has helped save the indians from an attack by the crazy soldier guy. Jamie and Tempest both tried to stop the attack. Her brother was killed helping. They head to her house but the soldiers are already there looking for them, so they have to go somewhere else-thus the week long journey to Fairfield Conn, where she has family.

You could suggest something else, I'll listen :)

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Puzzle pieces so far :) Let's see....

I have the back story, which is-Lorena's village is attacked when she is about 7 or 8. She is saved by her neighbor/friend, Elex. Both of their families die. Elex takes her to an older couple who he knows will take care of her, because he cannot take care of her himself(he is only a few years older than her). He promises to come back, but years go by and he never does. The couple pass away and Lorena ends up working at a tavern. She is considered an odd one because her eye color does not change, they are always violet. Normal people's eye colors change with their moods(think mood rings, but eyes). A stranger comes to the tavern and at the end of the night she realizes its Elex. He has been living in the woods as a Wanderer(Wanderers are given a bad name because, altho some do their best to live right, others take their position as, homeless basically, for granted, and steal, break into houses, scare women and children, and take whatever job they want. whatever job). Elex just doesnt have a home. At first she thinks he is a Wanderer who has been sent to kill her(insert missing puzzle piece as to why), but then she realizes who he is. He has overheard a plot to kill her(insert 2nd missing piece as to why) and has come to save her, yet again. They run into the woods where he lives with the other Wanderers. Some are true to the description, mean, gross, but some are friendly and nice. From there it becomes even patchier-they go on a journey to the queen for some reason(who has awesome crowns, but I have to keep telling myself to stop drawing her crowns and concentrate on the actual story :} ). Along the way they encounter birds that disguise themselves as flowers, or-should it be flowers that disguise themselves as birds? :) And evil creatures that look like they are bare trees but in reality are tall bad creatures.(funky I know, but i like it)

Yeah, so basically that's what I have. I am playing with the idea of a series, or at least have 2 books.(that's the author in me over-reaching already :) ), cuz I was thinking the journey to the queen's kingdom could be in the 1st story, then it continues in another. I have to figure out-
1-who attacked the village, and why
2-who is after Lorena this time, and why? does it have something to do with the first attack? but then, why?
3-why does her having no color changing eyes seem so important, as i keep thinking about it?
4-why would they be going to the queen? a poor tavern wench(proper wench), and even poorer wanderer(good wanderer), and whoever else might joins their bandwagon.

If you have feedback, I'd be happy to hear it. As I said, this is my first fantasy, usually stick to modern and historical mystery/adventure

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Hmmm. Just off the top of my head: Yes, Lorena was the target in the first attack. Yes she has reason to think someone is trying to kill her because she does -- it just isn't Elex, who overheard other Wanderers talking about her prospective murder (they have accepted the kill as a job.) It all ties to her unchanging eyes -- this is either a mark of someone the Queen or someone in her court have reason to fear, or marks a power which, again, the Queen or someone in her court has reason to fear. They're not so much going to the Queen as they are going to court (read: the big city) to find out more about her unchanging eyes, and who/why someone is trying to kill her.

Did I help at all?

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

I keep going back to her being the main target, because, if it was just a random village attack, why would they, whoever 'they' are, be after her again?

Ah, this would explain how Elex overheard the plan. And not knowing he knows her, they wouldnt think about mentioning it in front of him. Or-ooh! He is one that has the really good hearing, and even though being far away, he still overheard them.

I'm not sure whether the Queen fears unchanging eye people or not, because, I'm not entirely sure whether she has changing eyes or not(its one of the missing pieces) If she does, then this would be a reason for Lorena to go to her. However, why would an unchanging eye person be the queen, when they are considered the odd ones? Unless nobody knows her eyes don't change. Hmm....But then, how could one change their eye color if they don't change?(i might be making this more difficult than it needs be :} ) But someone, if not her, in the court could fear Lorena. That makes sense.

I figured the Queen's court would be where they go for answers. Again, just trying to fill in the gaps of why they'd go there. Course, if they have nowhere else to go, as home is no longer safe, why not go to the queen? :)

And yes, Carolf, you have helped. You have planted more seeds of possibility that I can use. Thank you very much :)

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Ok, I'm going to make a few suggestions/possibilities. Feel free to ignore all of them :-)

Perhaps the reason she makes the journey to the queen is because the village where the old people are is pillaged by the bad guys and everyone dies, giving them reason to run and get help - from the queen - and gives Lorena a motive for revenge.

Maybe it's a war between two rival kingdoms and Lorena's stuck in the middle of it?

First thing that comes to mind with the eyes is that people think she's a magic user or witch (because maybe magic users eyes don't change and therefore everyone fears them/they're outcasts). Maybe she is, or maybe she isn't - depends what you're going for. Anyway, they made an exception with Lorena and didn't outcast her because her eyes changed in her youth, but they turned violet and stayed violet only after the first village attack (it awoke her hidden inner powers... whatever they are!)

The evil bad guys could be whatever you want. It depends what you're going for. You could use humans. A rival king, pirate/viking lord, barbarians, a murderous gang of escaped gladiators... The possibilities are endless. They don't have to be human! If you write a gritty/gruesome fantasy, you could have them as an army of undead. If you're going for a more maddening evil, try barbarians or orcs/orc-like creatures. And if you want sophisticated/methodical attacks, use Elves/elf-like beings. Again it's up to you. You could even mix it up a little. A barbarian elven horde, or a murderous gang of decapitated undead gladiators...?

The motivation for the bad guys? Take over the kingdom. Loot. Revenge... whatever!

Why they'd go to the Queen? Because she has an army. They need an army to kill the bad guys. Maybe the queen is scared of using her army and keeps it safe behind the walls of the capital city? Maybe she's not interested in the life of peasants and doesn't care what's happening, so long as court life continues as normal... And Lorena can either persuade her to send in the troops OR realise she's wasting her time with the queen and unite the Wanderers into a small army to fight the enemy :-)

Hope this helped/gave you ideas/provided you with inspiration! As I say, feel free to ignore it all or tweak it :-)

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

I definitely like the idea of her being in the middle of the rivaling kingdoms. It would explain why she's always being sought after.

The Queen I have never pictured married, perhaps the rivaling kingdom is a King who does not feel she is worthy of being in charge, it should be him. Attacking her villages shows the people and creatures, that she is not capable of ruling.

Unchanging eye people being outcasts makes sense. If Wanderers are outcasts(basically just homeless people living in the woods), why not non-changing eye people even more so?

I like the Wanderes as fighters, idea. Sorta Robin Hood-ish. Sorta. Kinda. Little bit is.

Thanks for the ideas! :)

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

There you go, the creative juices are flowing :-)

I've discovered that if I just dump a load of cool ideas into a novel (without thinking too hard at the beginning and coming up with explanations for it all) that by the time I reach the end they've all come together and all make sense. I think you should just start writing and see where you end up. Do you know why she has violet-unchanging eyes? No? Well write them in anyway! Figure it out later. You might get halfway through the book and need her to wander through a dark dungeon and suddenly she can see in the dark when she's underground - and you smile when you realise it all makes sense when you think about it :-)

Right now in my sci-fi story, I have my MC who's being taunted by visions of his girlfriend as he wanders through the bowls of a space ship... why? Who knows!?! I'll figure that out later. Right now, all that matters is it's creepy and helps my word count :-P

Phew, after almost a week of no Nano writing, I'm back in the swing of things today.

I was really about to give up for the month. I'm working on a deadline with another project (Ah!!!) and my novel had to take a backseat. Characters were not happy, but I think they're starting to forgive me.

2k down today. So for January, that takes me to 27K since the start of January.

Total for my manuscript so far? 127K (GULP!).

Let's see how the rest of the month goes. Although, I'm still on deadline (with a pesky editor awaiting) and classes start up again next week so that means back to work. Let's see how I juggle it all...

That's a good sign :) And, I wasn't sure where I was going to go with it after the prologue scene, but now that I have that written, I know what the next scene is. But that will have to wait until tomorrow.

I may have won NaNoWriMo, but I did not finish the novel - not even close. As long as I get the draft finished within a couple months I should be in good shape to edit it into a readable format before Camp NaNo!

Why'd you say that? You not happy with planning? Or just fancy a change?

See, I thought I used to be a planner. I'd detail every scene and make detailed character descriptions and of everything else... But I'd get stuck at the first 1,000 words and give up. I used most of my energy on the plan, so when it came to writing, I stopped. Dead.

Now I just give my main character a mission to undertake and send him out into the big wide world I've created. Then just throw everything I can think of into the mix along the way and come up with the answers as and when. I'm writing it as the reader would read it, thinking 'What's going to happen next?' and that keeps me interested because I'm thinking 'I want to finish this novel because I want the answers!'

You should try it sometime, if you fancy a change :-)

LOL Thanks for the encouragement. You're right. At this point, giving up cannot be an option ;)

I think of my 127K, though, about half of it needs to be cut. I'm so long winded. ::Grumble grumble::

Well... I've become more of a planner...

See, I started this project with just a general outline, and figured, ah -- I'll figure out the specifics as I go. It sure was exciting! But then I kept writing myself into a hole. Gwahhh! LOL. Also, I kept adding in scenes, because I wanted to avoid the end (which I know is coming!). So I keep meandering, beating around the bush... I'm so in love with my characters. And I keep thinking I'm going to miss them terribly when I kill them.

So I started planning to kind of force myself to finish? Does that make sense? It's not as fun, but I think it's helping me to inch closer to that magical "The End!"

That's what Husband keeps telling me!

Maybe you two are on to something. But for some reason, I keep resisting that idea. I just want one book! Plus, all the crazy sci-fi coolness happens at the end. The beginning's mostly just my MCs and their complicated love octogon. LOL love octogon (like a triangle! but crazier). That's fun. But yeah -- I might need some restructuring.

Haha, most people aim to get to the end, not avoid it! I don't think you'll miss them. You'll be able to read your book through once it's over and be with them again... Plus, you can always have a sequel :-)

Everyone's different - unique! And if planning's what works for you, keep at it. You got 127+ so far, which is more than me, so who am I to tell you to pants!

Not started yet, but I'm striking for another 10k today (eek!). Now that I've done it before, I want to do it again! I'm addicted to the 10k-day lol. It makes me feel victorated :-P

Well, I don't know how fast you write, but if you manage at least 1k in an hour, a 10k day's possible. I aim now to get 1k an hour, and if I finish early, I can either carry on and get as many words as possible, or if I need a break, I'll allow myself to rest for the rest of the hour. First day, I wrote for 9.5 hours. Second, I wrote for about 9 hours. So I'm getting quicker lol.

You can skate any time in the next 50 years. But wouldn't you much rather get to 50k??

Re: Officially Unofficial NaNoReMo Thread! (Part 1?)

Absolutely!

I need an entire day off. Right now, with work, there is a lot of tax stuff to do, and orders to take care of. And since I work from home, everyone else is around, which distracts me, and they want to use the computer.... *sigh* What's a girl to do :( Maybe if I slept through a day and stayed up all night writing.... :(

Currently, I'm a little over 2k. Since the story is based on a dream, those are the scenes I have. I'm trying to fill in the blanks. Right now, I have to get from the basic "this is who Lorena is, this is her backstory, this is where she is now"....stuff, which I've written already, to when Elex shows up. I'm not sure yet when he does. So that's what I'm working on today, figuring out the next scenes to get to Elex's return.

So, my goal for Lorena's Story is to write 1k words a day. I know it's less than Nano goal number, but 1k has been do-able so far. I've been writing it for 2 days, and I'm over 2k. If I can keep it going this way I'd be done in 50 days. Not too bad. As long as I can get to 50k :)

The computer decided to kep freezing on me last night. Of course. It had to wait til I got on to write. Couldn't happen any other time. Soooo, only got a few paragraphs in before I had to shut it down :( Now I am behind from yesterday a little over 500 words. Adding in today's count, making a little over 1,500. Hopefully I can get there. Still working on the scenes. Kinda figuring it out as I go along. Putting in every idea that pops into my head so far. Thats either good or bad, but I guess I'll find out when it's done :) If nothing else, it boosts the word count :)

Ok, I suck.

That day I was off, I wrote a couple thousand words, then said to myself "I know... I'll have a break for an hour, then get back to it."

If I could go back in time and slap myself I would. Why? Because I decided to play Skyrim... SKYRIM! Whole day, gone. Then to make things worse, it got busy at work, so I felt tired when I got home. So then I said to myself, "I'll relax tonight and play Skyrim."

So, 5 days later, and I'm only at 23,000 words :-( And I'm fighting the urge to play Skyrim even now...

Goal for today - reach 25k + Not play Skyrim.

Apparently the failure was contagious. I got a little passed 7k and stopped. I did this and did that, but somehow the story got pushed aside, and now the characters are not very happy with me at all. At. All. I swear I can feel them staring at me at this minute, arms crossed, penetrating glares into my back. Not very pleasant looks either.
