So I kind of missed the start signal for the 60 day/60k challenge and, considering that I am going to be moving from Savannah GA to Kansas City MO this month, I really can't start playing catch-up now. But I really want to start writing again once I'm settled in my new place, and as Feb and March are also a combined 60 days, I was thinking about trying the challenge then. Anyone else interested in joining me?
Sure. Click on the ticker, it'll take you to the website it was made and can be updated on. Below the ticker will be a link "Create Your Own" or something like that. Select that and scroll down. Under the purple bar that says "Crafts/Hobbies" click "Object/Actions Counter" and follow the directions. :)
I was thinking of doing this as well, so I'm in! I missed the Jan/Feb start, but we were on vacation the first 10 days anyway, and now I have a post-vacation cold (hate when that happens, like being back isn't bad enough!), so Feb 1 would be awesome for me.
Oh, I guess I need a plot and stuff, right?? I was thinking of doing a sequel to my NaNo book, but I may just have an outline of that ready in case I actually publish the first one (rather than spend time writing the next one and then never publish either...). So. Hm. Plot. Characters. I have nothing at the moment!
I may be a pantser this time! We'll see. I like to do adventure/treasure hunt kind of things which need some research, and which leaves me with (inadvertently) a loose outline. Even doing a couple of weeks of research in Oct, I did about 500 online searches during NaNo, used GoogleEarth, language translators... But we'll see. I'm sick at the moment and my brain isn't working very well, so it may just have to take care of itself!
Does it have to be work on a novel, or can I count blog posts/script frenzy planning/serial stories/Camp NaNoWriMo planning/etc? I have a lot of things in the fire right now, but nothing big enough to dedicate 1,000k a day to. :(
That's more than fine with me. I have about four ideas (3 original and 1 fanfiction) vying for attention, so I am considering jumping between them from day to day, rather than focusing on one and neglecting the others. It can be so hard to focus on one project and do it justice when there are three more banging on the door.
*eyeballs her schedule* Actually this will work out pretty well, I've got three more 8k short stories I need to write before April as well as outlining for Script Frenzy and both Camps (not to mention the blog)—if I can't average 1k a day with this many projects to pick from then I'm gonna get murdered when it comes time to focus on a 'real' NaNo. ^_~;; *sheepish grin*
... crud, I've got that short story too. :( I sure hope I can become a professional writer some day. It's the only way I am ever going to have time for all of this.
I had one month off a few years back (due to the end of college and job hunting) and I got absolutely nothing done—I think my Muses require a time-crunch in order to function properly. *mutter*
Although I have to say I still have daydreams about the cabin in Maine and nothing to worry about but self-imposed deadlines! ;)
Yeah. I guess that's true. After graduation when I was looking for a job, it got really hard to write or think of anything to write about. And now that I have so much going on, well, I now have a fifth novel to start doing research for. And you know what, I'd bet money that come November, I won't be able to think of one think that I will be interested in writing right then. If I let one of these stew until then, I'll get bored with it. But a cabin in Maine sounds so nice. *sigh*
Okay, ya twisted my arm. I'm in. :-P Besides, I have to do something because my nano novel is with my readers (so I am not tempted to nag them. I mean it has been 3 whole days) and my inner editor is beating me about the head and shoulders. She wants me to work on the ms and doesn't listen when I tell her that I can't edit more until I get feedback. So, working on the second in the series might get her to shut up. Things to do: Buy more post-it notes. Outline book two: Remo's story Come up with a title Research Fashion concrete shoes for my inner editor and dump her in the gulf.
I'm in! I completely failed at nano this year because I thought my husband was deploying. But he didn't! I actually got on to specifically check if there were "off season nanos".
Hmm, I think I'm in! I haven't been writing much (other than fanfiction, which is nice but I miss writing original things) and this would be good for me, I think.
Eee! My people! A story came to me about a week ago and I tried pushing it away. "I have to edit and finish my NaNo 11 project," I told it. It whimpered in the corner and curled up into a pathetic ball. Its eyes bore in to the back of my head as I worked away, giving me that slightly paranoid feeling. I turned to look at it critically again, its cute little plot idea had formed in to something with a little more substance and I became seduced. "All right, a little plotting and we'll see how it goes. No promises!" It excitedly joined me and we worked together for a few, blissful hours. I should have known. Now I'm hooked and will not be satisfied until we've banged out a few thousand... words.
I'm probably going to regret this but I'm in! Guess we'll be all posting about our progress here so all of y'all will be able to watch me lose whatever sanity I hoped I had left. I will most likely be doing just little one-shots every day in different fandoms. What will some of y'all be doing? Originals? Fanfiction? If so what fandom/s?
I was planning on starting with a fan-fiction (Hetalia) just to get me back in the habit of writing and to get some practice with straight up story telling (no character or world building to obsess over). Once I am used to my new job and can focus on writing again, I have a few originals clambering for attention. I wrote a loose draft of this fan-fic for Nanowrimo because I was in a rush and didn't have time for world building (I restarted on Day 14), but will be re-writing it from the top with a lot of plot changes. As in, it will have a plot this time. And a set time period. Maybe even an over-arching theme. Mercedes Lackey did recommend fan-fiction as a means to practice writing in her pep talk (2010?). What about you? You didn't name your fandoms.
Hmm... interesting. I have yet to get interested in anything Hetalia but maybe in the future. Good luck with everything! I may be writing in Kuroshitsuji, Death Note, Doctor Who, Titanic(1997 movie), Durarara!!, Devil May Cry, Smallville, and a whole lot more that I can't think of right now. I also may try to write in anything related to the Marvel based movies I've seen. I have yet to read any comics. I don't know which ones I'll be writing in and I've only wrote in Kuroshitsuji and Death Note so writing in the other fandoms will be interesting and a new and welcoming experience!
I think I'm going to try. NaNo 2011 was a complete bust for me and I'd really like to finish the story.
I really don't know if I'll be able to though. I'm in the middle of the interview process for a job that's looking pretty good so far, and on top of that trying to deal with some very intense personal stuff right now.
On the other hand, I've been feeling incredibly out of control lately so maybe this will give me a little respite from the crazy.
This is looking awfully tempting ... though I won't be working on a single project. If I do take part, I just want to start writing 1K a day to get back into the swing of things.
I wanted to do the Jan Feb one but I am just not healed enough yet, a Feb March one I think I may be able to do, though I may loose a week in Feb because I am still not nearly up to par and having trouble concentrating. I need something to get me motivated to finish my novel and reach my dreams of some day being published!
60 day/60k A Feb-Mar writing challenge?

I will probably eventually do this. I need all the motivation I can get.

Well, 16 days to outline ain't bad. Though personally I enjoy flying by the seat of my pants. :)

I guess I'm in. The YA novel series I've been sitting for 5-10 years needs to be written at some point.
Re: 60 day/60k A Feb-Mar writing challenge?
I will if I can finish editing by NaNoWriMo book. It's a very slim chance, considering that all I've done is a spelling/grammar check.
