switching POV between chapters

I'm doing a first person narrative, grown woman, but considering inserting childhood segments in a 3rd person limited in separate chapters.

I've tried writing this character at different ages all in first person and I'm struggling with authenticity, I guess. She's such a precocious 7 year old in that case. ;D

Any thoughts?

I like this idea. I always liked changing the POV because it helps keep things interesting.
I'd try it out and see how it works!

I was really hoping for some help on this subject as well. D:
Both of my POV are in the past tense but one is a man and the other is a woman.
They're both in the same situations but I want to write how they experience each situation in their own ways.
Any tips on how to do it without it feeling forced would be great. :3

Switch POV in different chapters but make the end of each chapter a link to the other person.
Just be sure to clarify when you're switching POV with this idea.

I switch POV more than Heller...it can be jarring, but it provides many more perspectives to what's actually going on...I feel like I'm being selfish by only letting the MC give viewpoints on what's going on. It's a complicated emotion.

I have the best luck with 3rd person, alternating POV (between hero and heroine) with each new chapter. I like the clarity of that structure (some writers label the character's name at the beginning of that POV character's chapter to make it very clear). And I like the flexibility and heightened interest which come with alternating. See, for example, Cold Mountain, but there are many other good examples. It's difficult (for me) to do more than two major POV's without confusing the reader (and the writer), although many best-selling authors seem to pull it off without difficulty.

As long as you make it CLEAR when switching, it is pretty easy to pull off :) and it can be really fun! I would totally suggest it if you are stuck....

I switch POV bewteen pretty much every character, I signify the change using this (as an example)

It makes transitions so much smoother, and if you only want a brief thought from someone, it works excellently, but occasionally you have problems if a character has a secret that you don't want to reveal just yet.
