An unusual opportunity.

Hello. I am new to Nano, but so far I love it. A little bit about myself. I am a gold prospector, organic farmer in Ecuador, South America. I know, strange combination. They both involve playing in the dirt though, which makes sense to an extent. I have been in Ecuador going on 10 months and for the most part it is a wonderful country. Soon, a friend and I and a couple others are going to be starting a Paulownia tree plantation and working on a small gold project on the side. The plantation will most likely be priority. Sounds like I will be very busy, but I will still have a lot of free time. I am a huge fantasy fan and a voracious reader. Currently I am writing a fantasy novel and am in the process of putting together the history and culture of the world and all the races. You should also be interested in fantasy.

Eventually I am going to need a second person to be assisting me in the plantation. Lately I have been doing a lot of deep thinking. Why not try to find someone who loves writing and who could potentially team up with me? We can work on the plantation(yes, you would be getting paid) and write while not working. This may seem strange to many people, but some crazy adventurous writer may feel that it is an awesome opportunity. You wouldn't get rich off of this, at least not early on..but it will pay the bills. The cost of living is amazingly low here and life is quite relaxed. I would prefer someone in the 20-40 year range, since I would have a hard time relating with someone much older. This isn't a deal-breaker though. I am a 36 year old male.

This wouldn't happen for 2 to 3 months and I would like this time period to get to know the people/person who might be interested. If you are tired of the same old 40 hour work week, or you God forbid, are unemployed and can't find work, then this might be the opportunity for you. I have no preference of your sex. The work will be mainly organization, and there wouldn't be much physical labor involved. We will most likely have 20-30 locals working under us.

My writing has become very important to me, but it is slow going. Fortunately, I have nothing but time and I am loving it. To give you an idea on how cheap it is here, you can fairly comfortably live on 800.00-1000.00 a month and this includes rent, food and all bills. I live in a little touristy town named Vilcabamba and it has a fairly large expat population. I have friends from all over the world. If this sounds interesting to you, please message me and introduce yourself. Worst case scenario, you make a new friend.

Idealy, having some gardening experience would be a huge plus but I can teach you everything you will need to know. A city person would most likely not enjoy this too much and loving the outdoors is a necessity. Love to camp, hike and be outdoors in a nice comfortable climate year round? Then this is for you.

First of all, welcome to NaNoWriMo. Second, if you want crazy, you're in the right place. Finally, I will laugh so hard if you break ground on your plantation and found gold.

Hello Angry. Thanks for the welcome. Haha, you never know on breaking ground here and finding gold. As far as untapped gold potential, Ecuador is way up there. Things are pretty exciting here, but being in the tropics, things have a way of progressing slowly. Works quite well for writing though, with the slow paced life. We have carnival starting this week, which is basically a week long party, like our Mardi Gras. The difference is that all of South America celebrates this holiweek. The tradition is to get others as wet as possible. Some throw water balloons, others dump full buckets of water on you. Good times.

Sounds like a fun carnival! Welcome to NaNo!

Your offer sounds amazing, and I hope someone takes you up on it (I can't for a variety of different reasons, but I wish I could. That would be really cool!)
