Character Graveyard

This is where we pay tribute to those characters that pass away during this November.

Please tell us their name, age and most importantly how they died. Maybe say a few words in their honor.

Re: Character Graveyard

May we have a moment of silence for poor old Jake Bascom. After a lifetime of efficient dependable service as a gardener for the residents of Blackberry Terrace on what was once the outskirts of the city, he was nearly ready to retire and turn the job over to his nephew. Then, one balmy spring morning, he was found face down in the mud of a flower garden that served as a graveyard for the beloved pets of a couple he had served for over twenty years. Investigation produced a shovel that was found on the ground near Bascom's truck. It tested positive for the presence of blood. Some people started a rumor that it may have been the notorious TSoD. The police only laughed when a reporter questioned whether the rumor might be true. They said the Traveling Shovel of Death was only a silly story.

After you have finished mourning for the loss of Jake Bascom, let's take a moment to remember the short life of Laura Garrison.
She was only 25 when she "fell" from the balcony of her apartment, following an argument with your longtime boyfriend Isaac Shay, and your head hit hard on the cold stone below. Isaac seemed just as heartbroken and torn up about her death as everyone else, even agreed to talking with police to clear his name. He didn't push her, she simply backed up too far and hit the railing. The funeral was well attended, and no one laid the blame to Isaac anymore. No one except Laura's older brother, that is.

Let us offer our condolences to Michael Hogan who lost his wife Sgt. Libby Hogan.
She was KIA under classified circumstances in Afganistan. She was a war dog handler. Her K-9 warrior, "Vallor" was killed in the same incident. Their loss leaves a terrible void in the highly successful anti-terrorist operation "Sand Shepherd."

Let us not mourn the passing of Genevieve Montret, but rather celebrate her life. Genie, as she was know to her friends, was a long-time patron of the arts, was active in the local Junior League, local charities and the Garden District Music Appreciation society. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and leaves behind three children, one of whom was smart enough to wipe his prints off the knife.

All were of the tender age of 15 and their lives were taken too soon by a man who holds no form of respect for human live. They leave behind parents, friends and loved ones and their deaths remain unanswered.

Re: Character Graveyard

We're gathered here today to mourn the loss of- well, a lot of people.

Tedd E., who was mistakenly drowned in a bathtub after a blunt force trauma to the head due to his resemblance to his famous twin brother, Tom. Tedd doesn't really leave anyone behind, since half the people who knew Tom just thought the 'twin brother' bit was a hoax, as they were never seen together. So, er, he was accidentally buried under his brother's name. But we're working on fixing that. Eventually.
Who was he again?

Professor Earl, who was trying to invent a more refined tranquilizer gun. He was founded dead, drowned in formaldehyde and buried in frogs.
He smelled kind of funny and no one really wanted to get too close to him after that, but we're pretty sure he's dead.
But he was a good professor.
Except for that whole fling he had with the married principle.

We also remember- or, think of? I don't know.
We also remember/think/what-have-you the ten other soon-to-be victims that will die in various, interesting ways as soon as the author gets around to writing outlines for it and stops being so incredibly lazy.

We are gathered here today to mourn Layla Alperin. February 24th, 1995-October 9th, 2011. She was extremely influenced by music from the very beginning-she was named for the Eric Clapton song "Layla", was a distant relative of Sharona Alperin, who inspired the song "My Sharona", and was born on George Harrison's 68th birthday. She might have found it strange that she was murdered on what would have been John Lennon's 71st birthday. She was a quiet but loving soul, and was constantly singing a song or dancing along to whatever tune life was playing. May she rest in peace.

Our condolences go out to the friends and family of Denton MacDougal, local playboy. He was a good man--okay, maybe he did deal a little in ecstacy, and cocaine, and maybe he was running hookers out of his clubs, but he was a good man! Don't believe what you read in the Weekly Filth, that's nothing but a chop rag. The great-grandson of cowboy actor Harry Denton, Denton MacDougal, himself a former actor, believed in living the high-life, right up to the end. As the last member of an Old Hollywood family, he will be missed.

RIP Adam Meissner, March 23, 1980, in a private party room at Cascadia Restaurant, NYC. He was 36.

A well-regarded Broadway musical leading man, in the tall-dark-and-baritone style, Adam had just finished performing the opening of "Three Sisters", a musical adaptation of the Chekhov classic. Although he collapsed and died soon after hearing the mostly negative reviews, this was not what killed him. Although at the time his death was attributed to heart failure, after twenty years it is established that he was poisoned.

Unmarried, he was survived by his parents (since deceased), a brother and sister, and five nieces and nephews.

Though many are deeply grieved by his death, we remember that Jack would not have wanted us to mourn his loss, but rather to revel in his life, and find peace in the knowledge that Jack has finally fulfilled his twin lifelong dreams of meeting Freddie Mercury and pissing on the pearly gates. Jack leaves behind his beloved husband Fredrick, and their border collie/spaniel mix, Max, as well as numerous teammates and colleagues, all of whom considered Jack to be a brother. RIP Giacomo Valerian Ambrose. You will be missed.

We have gathered here today to mourn the loss of Emma Pembroke, nee Emma Smith, who met her tragic end on February 21st, 1887, at the hands of her beloved husband, James. So aggrieved was he at her loss, and the discovery of his having shoved her down those stairs in the first place, that he took his own life fifteen days later.

Emma is survived by her mother, Peggy, who doesn't know how she will possibly live without her. James is survived by his mother, Lenora, his father, Silas, and his very good friend Trevor Ames, who loved him as a brother.

It's too bad one of the survivors is about to join the departed, and another's about to become a killer.

It is with regret that I announce the death by drowning of Lieutenant Graham Raleigh of the Hampshire regiment, 12th February 1944. Lt Raleigh was a popular and faultlessly brave leader until his honourable discharge due to injury three months ago. The circumstances of this injury remain official secrets, although Lt Raleigh spent the last three months of his life recuperating, recovering from shellshock and adjusting to the prospect of a life lived wheelchair-bound: a life which, sadly, he was never able to enjoy. His death by drowning was a particular shock to his family as, before his accident in Italy, Lt Raleigh had always been a keen swimmer, and had indeed been responsible for teaching his younger brother and sister to swim. He was an enthusiastic, kind and loyal comrade, and will be much missed. His next of kin have been informed.

Their identities remain unknown at this point in time. Evidence from the site indicates that the oldest pair was murdered some time in the late 1950s to early 1960s.

Let's all have a moment of silence for Sophia Phyne and her unborn child.
She died in the arms of her crying boyfriend, stabbed to death when she used herself as a shield for him when an unknown man broke into their bedroom at night.
Being a mother despite her hardships was her biggest dream, and her boyfriend vividly recalls the day she told him: Overjoyed, with flushing red cheeks had she hugged and kissed him.
She was an inspiration for many people due to her passionate and loving nature, and will be deeply missed by many.

BREAKING NEWS: Actor Hugh Quincey dead from apparent suicide.

Quincey, whose career spanned nearly two decades, is suspected to have jumped from the balcony of his highrise apartment in the most shocking celebrity death this year. Although he had been out of the limelight for some time, many expected Quincey, with his ethereal screen presence and undeniable acting talents, to make a successful comeback. But his every attempt had been waylaid by financial mismanagement and persistent rumors of substance abuse.

Fans have already begun gathering in front of the actor's home to leave mementos and to comfort one another. An investigation has been launched and an autopsy is to be performed later this week.

Quincey was just 37-years-old.

(As I'm outlining this, I've learned of another death... hm)

Let us remember Asa Lindall, a pretty girl native to the strange town of Claymoore that seemed to have everything going for her. She was pretty, she was talented, and she had landed Isaac Shay as a boyfriend when he blew into town, following the death of his now ex-girlfriend.
Asa was beautiful right until the moment of her death, when her features were destroyed by the repeated bashings of a lamp. Death came fast, but there would be no body to be found. When Isaac returns from washing the blood from his hands, he finds his living room empty of any signs of her murder. Asa gave her life to be a part of the ceremony, and she would always be remembered. Even if the people in the town of Claymoore don't talk about her anymore.

He was credited with solving a massive insurance fraud investigation last November. One year after his appointment to special agent in charge of the cyber crimes division, he was found shot to death and his best friend and former mentor Cody Sparks has taken a personal interest in the case.

Our thoughts are with Elmo Hubbard, Lee-Lee Hubbard, and Elmo's mistress, Gina, as we note the passing of Dinah Hubbard, director of the Chinatown preservation project, wealthy citizen, and keeper of the secret of what had really been going down on the project site. Though she was no angel, Dinah died trying to get the goods on her cheatin' Elmo, but she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Dinah was 45. Gina's 28. Elmo's a...well, never mind.
Police have her killer in custody, awaiting trial for murder.
Or so they think.

Re: Character Graveyard

My MC, Dagny Dolk, would like to say a few words about her late ex:

Laszlo Löw was kind of an asshole but he didn't deserve to die like he did. Alone in a hotel room with his throat slit. He never done anything to deserve that. Oh sure, every time we ran into each other he tried to stab me in the back and there's that one time when he literally stabbed me in the back.

Yet, you kinda had to like the guy. He was a scumbag and from a certain angle he resembled a weasel but he had these adorable puppy eyes and a smile that would make a girl a little confused. Then again, he knew about that and it's always annoying when someone knows that they'll get the answer "how high?" everytime they say "jump!".

What I'm trying to say is that Laszlo was a scumbag. His soul was ugly but even a man like that deserves justice and I'm going to find the truth so that hopefully, Laszlo will find the peace that always eluded him in life.

Now, where's the food? I only agreed to say a few chioce words about Laszlo because I was promised free food. I think someone mentioned sandwich cake?

Re: Character Graveyard

In 2011, the whole world will mourn the passing of Lionel Berkeley, 89, who died of complications from Alzheimer's disease at his home in Black Point, Honolulu, Hawaii. Lionel was the fiery patriarch of the Berkeley family, a capitalist and philanthropist who has spent the last few years of his life making substantial contributions in his name to support public initiatives for peace and conflict resolution. He is survived by his legitimate children Lewis, Lauren, and Linus... and his illegitimate daughter, Veronica San Luis, who has been summoned from her residence in Manila for the funeral and subsequent reading of her father's will.

Not much will be said, however, of the untimely deaths of two people related to Lionel Berkeley.

Vivian San Luis, the former caretaker and mistress to Lionel Berkeley, died in 1991 of of fatal head injuries sustained while trying to protect her family from armed robbers at her home in San Juan, Metro Manila. She was 35 years old, leaving behind her 5 year-old daughter Veronica under the care and guidance of her transvestite brother, Jojo.

Dr. Clive Harper (PhD), 40, a close friend of the Berkeley family and professor of Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, passed away in 1992 as a result of a hit-and-run accident while trying to cross Roxas Boulevard on his way to the US Embassy in Manila. Doctors have pronounced him dead on arrival at Makati Medical Center. The driver of the vehicle that hit Dr. Bell was never found, but police found a mysterious package on Dr. Bell's person marked with the note "For Veronica - Do Not Open Until Your 18th Birthday" written at the back. Dr. Bell is survived by his wife Elizabeth de Souza, along with his son Jason, daughter Nani... and, 19 years later, by Veronica San Luis, to whom the mysterious, blood-stained package will be delivered at her call center in Quezon City.

February 6, 2001: Naomi Kim, 36, documentary filmmaker, found dead in her apartment by her new production assistant, April Hyland. Although initial reports indicated heart failure as the cause of death, the official coroner's report has been delayed.

Ms. Kim has numerous documentary shorts to her credit and three documentary features: "Over the Hill", a profile of three senior downhill skiers, "Animal Instincts," about the efforts of a small zoo to get a white tiger, and "We'll Let You Know," following several performers through an arduous audition process. At the time of her death, she was working on a feature about the ill-fated 1981 Broadway production of "Three Sisters: A Musical".

She is survived by her parents, two younger brothers and one younger sister. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to USC Film School towards the Naomi KimFellowship for Female Documentary Makers

However, she was left to die on the night of her youngest child's birth, a child whom would never know his mother and would never know peace in this world.

Cassandra is survived by a son and daughter, both of which went missing the night she died.

Let us also remember the young boys that have been found mutilated and dead throughout the streets of Gazardiel. May their young lives be forever at peace now.

Anyway, he was a young man that took his life a short while ago by jumping off of the bridge. At least, I think that's what happened. Come to think of it, did he jump? I can't quite recall what he looked like.

Are you sure he died? I'm starting to wonder if you just read about this in a book, or the newspaper. You know how you get, making things up. Isaac Shay *does* sound very familiar, though. And I remember someone jumping off the bridge...

May we have a moment's silence for Frederic Sonhar...unconventional pianist who played the piano in the weirdest of places for the sake of art and became famous for it. However, he couldn't stand the fame, and died a slow death from depression-induced drug overdose. He waited anxiously for someone to kill him off, but didn't have enough money to pay anyone to do so (he didn't make much from the fame he acquired as a pianist). His fans missed him in death.

In death, however, he became determined to kill other artists (musical, literary, literal, etc.) who wanted to die as much as he did. This is the start of a series of murders, which is investigated by the MC.

Heehee, I managed to post on this thread without spoiling the story.

She was 28. Police refuse to answer questions on record, however, at least one officer was quoted at the scene saying, "It's definitely homicide."

Memorial services will be held Sunday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Halifax.

No one will truly mourn the victim of Nowheresville, Washington's first murder in decades (perhaps in the history of the town) - a man known only as the Dragonman. Likely nobody will even notice his absence, as he was not a resident of any known town, but merely a roving drug dealer killed for unknown reasons. No services will be held, so as one of the Dragonman's only friends, I call out to you the reader of this post to give the sorry bastard a brief moment of silence, as nobody truly deserves to go unmourned.

An inquiry will be held on Friday. Any further news will be released as the police receive it and see fit to release it to the general public. Quilinius was 52 years old.

What the Obit doesn't tell you: He was a jerk, and was poisoned before being bludgeoned to death with a rolling pin. He may have had it coming, but his rival, Kate, doesn't deserve to be framed for it.

He was discovered to be missing by his sister two days later. His remains were finally found almost two weeks later in the Los Padres National Forest. Wallace was sentenced to 30 years to life in a mental institution. The two had engaged in sadomasochistic sexual activities that somehow got tragically out of hand.

The deaths of Gary and Alice Seabourgh are a great tragedy. Killed while escaping toward the village on the ocean, they will be thought of often. Alice was killed first by a friend who betrayed her. The same man also killed Gary a minult later. They will rest forever in our memory.

Re: Character Graveyard

My novel is about a serial killer, so expect a LOT of posts from me on this thread! XD

RIP Darius Jackson. At 28 years old he was kidnapped and slowly mutilated in the attic of his attacker, Clay Andrew Larson. He deserved it, though, for being a burden to society.

RIP Jordan Green. At 28 years old, after several successful attempts at avoiding it, was kidnapped by Clay Andrew Larson. He was taken to the attic of his killer where he was tied down and concrete was siphoned down his throat. And the animals on his subsistance farm that he just left to rot and planned to behead with a machete will be much better off. The way he treated those innocent animals was unacceptable.

RIP Vance Holbrook. Also 28, he was kidnapped by The Schoolyard Killer, Clay Andrew Larson, and was put in a plexiglass tube where rats ate him toe-to-head. Since he was so tall, it took the rats a while to get to his heart and eat it. He wasn't really a huge problem, but nobody really liked him. While he was an extraordinary football player, nobody enjoyed listening to the big-headed windbag boast about it on TV and live the good life from the money he got from being like that.

Don't worry, I might add more once Clay kills more people. :-)

Doctor Sanji Moore, Head of Research and Development at Cogangear Laboratories, was found dead in his office on the morning of March 3, 2881. He is believed to have died in the evening of March 2nd of exsanguination.

He leaves behind his wife, Brigid, and his colleagues at Cogangear Laboratories. Dr. Moore was 43 years old.

Private Consulting Detective Aubrey Frost has deduced that although Dr. Moore was killed by his own prototype (a clockwork mongoose), it was his program director, Dr. Wembley, who is actually to blame. All will be revealed at Chief Inspector Stroud's office at ten o'clock in the morning on March 4th, 2881.

Also RIP as-of-yet nameless conductor that has been run over by his own train. We still aren't sure what happened to you, but it's probably foul play. And how did your train manage to be on the wrong track at the wrong time, anyway?

The theater world was shocked by the death of Broadway Star Stephanie Wyatt in a tragic hit and run accident outside Alimento restaurant on 44th Street in Manhattan.

Ms Wyatt, 56, was a two time Tony winner for Best Actress in a Musical, and had three other nominations. Her most recent credit was a well-received revival of "Mame", which sold out for her entire engagement. She was married three times, to venture capitalist Valentin Wyatt, who died in 1979, realtor Dennis Mulvaney (1982 - 1985, ending in divorce), and film actor Carter Randolph (1995 - 1998, divorced).

She had no children. There will be a memorial at the Schubert Theater, date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Broadway Cares.

Now that the case of the Mad Strangler has concluded, we can finally put to rest those unfortunate souls that met their end at his hand:

Poor Ginny Valentine, 16, her young life cut short in her family's shop.

Dear Henrietta Livingston, 72, struck down while taking her beloved Roderigo for a walk.

Fidelia Thomas, 37, done to death in luxury in a London hotel.

Adelaide Struthers, 19, found in an alley after a particular rough night's work.

Edina Reynolds, 45, who nagged her future son-in-law to death.

Sweet young Mary, 19, who had the misfortune of misplacing her master's favorite belt.

Special mention Mr. Scarlet who died at least twice thoughout the novel, once by the TSoD, but he's an immortal so he's alright.

R.I.P. Random Zombie Guy. I have no clue who you were or how you died, but you became a zombie for the villain's evil plan.

R.I.P. Rederick, who was eaten by an Eldritch Abomination from another plane of existence. But he was effectively going to bring about the end of the world so it had to be done.

It was a bright winter day at the University of North Carolina at Point Ives, but the day would not end the way it started. CSU units and uniformed offers milled around the Andre Lorde building following the 911 call that one of the city's greatest party girls, Grayson Hawthorne had been killed. Details are sketchy at this point, but we do know that Grayson was meeting with a writing group in the building, the Arkham Girls Club when the attack happened. Her body was found in the rest room by fellow writer and friend Dasher Lemon.

It seems Ms. Hawthorne was stabbed several times. She was 21 years old and the heir to the Wicked makeup empire. Judge Hawthorne who retired from the bench last year fainted as her daughter's shroud covered body was taken out of the building.

Re: Character Graveyard

We are gathered to remember the life of John Gilmour, who was a source of financial security and safety to his unfaithful wife. A noted expert in his field of ancient south American civilisations and an intelligent man, when he got home he chose a very clever hiding place for the document that the killer thought of as the door to a new life.
John had recently said goodbye to his latest lover – after the act.
He was about to inherit half of a massive fortune, and to have control of the other half.
He was the boyhood friend of the second, now sole heir, and remained so right up until his death. His uncle, though suffering few illusions about his character, will still miss him, in the little time he has left in this world.
His cousin too had few illusions about him and still counted him a good friend.
He was an extrovert, always dashing into love affairs, ready to stick his neck out, regularly worked on expeditions to out of the way places, he was good company, tollerant to his wife, intelligent, handsome, and sometimes kind. He didn't deserve the sudden excruciating pain that caused his death.

And then there was Geoffrey. Poor Geoffrey, he had a few brief days of happiness and then life turned sour on him.
He lost his position at the museum, lost the easy access to all those valuable things, lost the regular pay... That was at about the same time that his girl left him.
He began drinking heavily, among other things. Drifting, he moved into a squat in a derelict part of town and one rainy night, a stalker caught up with him. In death his face still wore the look of astonishment at the last thing he saw.

R.I.P. Andy Flint. Even though your daughter didn't really know you, she will miss you and won't forget you.
Also, Anita Flint, struck down by cancer. Anita and her daughter, Tasha, were very close. Tasha will sorely miss her mother.

From another story:
R.I.P. Tilly. I'm sorry you won't get a chance to grow in this world, and I'm sorry your death set your mother insane, but at least you will spared the pain others are going through.
