I'd like to do some covers for you lovely Nano-ers! I can't guarantee I'll get all of them done, but I will get AT LEAST the first five done. Some examples of past covers:
Most of my covers are simple, mostly because I don't have the time or skills and if I get too complex, they end up looking sloppy. I've tried, trust me, and I should probably spend that time writing instead of making bad covers ;)
So, if you want one, fill this out: Title: Author Name: Or pen name or nano username or whatever Short Synopsis: 100-350 words. Please don't say "it's in my profile" :) Important images of your story: i.e. places (like, characters are on a road trip to the Grand Canyon), people (main character is a black-haired girl with a nose ring), objects (characters break a curse with a magical ring), etc. Ideas for Cover: I can't guarantee I'll take this into account, but I'll try!
Thanks, guys! It's always fun to procrastinate writing while making covers!
Title: Wrong Kind of Different Author Name: Karla-Jayne McGrath
Short Synopsis: Cassandra Lewis has always been different. Everyone is. But sometimes she wishes she was the right kind of different. It would be nice to have friends, to go to parties or the mall, to spend time with people who were alive. A new school gives her a new start in a place where nobody knows who she is, or saw her talking to herself when she was five. She finally makes friends who have no idea about her special ability. Cassie's new friends invite her to a birthday party on a large yacht. The plan is that the yacht will leave the dock at 7pm, sail around the bay and return at 1am. However, something goes strangely wrong and the boat they all end up on is not as 'lively' as they had planned. The boat they end up on is the Neutiquam Erro and it vanished one hundred years ago. Nobody on board was ever seen again and nobody knew what had happened or why. Until now. Cassie is the only one on board that knows exactly what happened and what has to be done to break the curse. She has to convince the others that she isn't crazy, ghosts are real AND she has to get them to work together to break the one hundred year old curse and all before the night ends. And to think her teachers called her an underachiever! This just might be the hardest thing she has ever tried to do and the punishment for failure is forever.
Important images of your story: the 100 year old yacht but doesn't need to be on cover :)
Title: Aftershock Author Name: [Removed] Short Synopsis: Luke Mallory is a photographer and that's basically all he's ever been good at. When he's rejected from the only college he wanted to go to, he kind of loses his focus. If there's one thing he hates, it's people who avoid life or live on autopilot. So he tries to live life to the fullest, even if it means running away and avoiding things himself. But avoiding is the worst option, because it only gets him in more trouble. He ends up at in an inner city reform home, possibly involved in gang wars and has absolutely no idea how to get out of the mess he's caused.
In order to move on, he must come to terms with his dark past and see that there's still hope for his future. (let me know if you need more detail)
Important images of your story: camera, knife. My mc is blond, blue eyes and scowls a lot (think Max Thieriot) and he starts hanging out with people who are minorities. Ideas for Cover: dim, looks hopeless, YA, maybe a hazy light shining through
I love the simplicity of these designs, they're lovely. ^^
Title: Unsigned Letters Author Name: Cherri Short Synopsis: Neither Cole nor Eric expected much to come from signing up to their school's anonymous letter writing system. They're paired up, and soon each one finds themselves coming to depend on the other letter writer, who they do not know in real life. As the school year comes to an end, and they face the very real possibility of losing contact, they decide to meet for real. From the end of their GCSEs to the end of University, the novel follows the young couple as they become friends, fall in love and eventually move to opposite sides of the country. Will the relationship bloom, despite distance, homophobia and growing up? Or will the strain prove too much for them to cope with? [As the writer, I don't yet know, I'm still trying to work this out. xD]
Important images of your story: Letters between the characters are absolutely central to the plot, so any sort of letter or pen. And one of the major themes is the stereotypes of homosexuality, so rainbows, glitter and the like. ^^;
Ideas for Cover: I'll leave this up to you. I'm more wordy creative than visually creative.
Oh, I would love one from you, if you don't mind ^^
Title: Placebo (would like this in all caps or all lower-case please ^^) Author Name: Or pen name or nano username or whatever : Lia A. Short Synopsis: 100-350 words. Please don't say "it's in my profile" :) : Basically, a woman starts to steal children after her son dies. She takes care of them for a week then brings them back. Then, she steals a little boy named Wes that looks like her dead son and she can't bring herself to take him back home. She gets caught kidnapping and her life goes down-hill. Important images of your story: i.e. places (like, characters are on a road trip to the Grand Canyon), people (main character is a black-haired girl with a nose ring), objects (characters break a curse with a magical ring), etc. : CHILDREN. Little four year old boys (hope that didn't sound creepy...). The main thing is "a four year old boy with chocolate mussed hair and blue painted eyes." I really like models on my covers. Ideas for Cover: I can't guarantee I'll take this into account, but I'll try!: I just really like models on my covers, but that's really it.
Thanks so much ^^ Hopefully this will inspire me to catch up on my word count ^^
Thank you for taking the time to do this. And I absolutely adore your covers, simplicity is best. :)
Title: You Can Let Go Author Name: M. D. Gardner Short Synopsis: Dalisay, is entering the tenth grade, she just wishes that her friends could be there with her. Due to some "problems" at her former high-school, she's been forced to re-locate and basically start her life over again from scratch. Dalisay isn't allowed to mention why she leave her previous school, so she doesn't really bother to get too close to anyone. Until one day, she meets a guy, who somehow has an odd familiar feeling about him. The new high-school is just supposed to be a "limbo" between her past school and private school, but what if the boy she meets compels her to stay? Important images of your story: Main character is a girl with dark brown hair. And an object is, a lock. A lock is very symbolic and explains my story well. Ideas for Cover: Eh, you probably have better ideas than me.
Title: And I don’t Know What to Do Author Name: Megan Heier Short Synopsis: Growing up is hard. Living in a small town is hard. Being gay is hard. James Bauer knows this better than anyone. He figured out that his life wasn’t going to be easy in the 7th grade when he realized that he would rather kiss his best friend Jake than any of the girls in their class. He just didn’t expect it to be this hard. Balancing his very Catholic family, his girlfriend, his long distance (kind of) boyfriend and his overprotective siblings is proving to be much harder than he ever expected, and quite frankly, he doesn’t know what to do. Important images of your story: My mc lives on a farm in the middle of North Dakota and almost all of his life takes place there. Another image is lemonade. He goes and has lemonade with two guys in town all of the time. It’s those two guys who make him as strong as he is, so lemonade is important. Ideas for Cover: I have absolutely no ideas! I can’t draw or create anything visual to save my life, so whatever you think would look good works for me.
I'm so excited that people are actually nice enough to make covers for those of us who can't! Thank you sooooo much!!
Don't worry about the author name. I'm good with the omission. :)
Synopsis: Jasmine was a spoiled princess who was always right until she met Trevor, a clergyman unafraid to tell the truth. Trevor makes a habit of condemning the Queen, a crime punishable by death. Intrigued by his beliefs and the honesty that could get him killed, Jasmine keeps meeting the young man. But when the two fall in love, Jasmine is forced to reveal her secret relationship and her new faith to her mother, the Queen.
Angry at Jasmine's deceit, the Queen throws her daughter in prison to change the stubborn girl's mind. It is in the cells of the dungeons that Jasmine learns the depths of her faith and the strength of her love for her intended...and her mother.
Jasmine soon faces a choice. She can honor her mother and marry a groom she's never met, or honor her love for Trevor and refuse the match, insulting the temperamental Queen in the process.
Ideas for Cover: The two met at a waterfall, they love horses, and they share the same faith. If you could show a difference between their worlds and something that has brought them together, that would be awesome!
I am dying for a cover for my novel and so far, my requests have been on threads where the artist stopped making :'( I hope you will consider mine if it is not to weird or complex..
My novel 'Sing a Song of Dragons'
Short Synopsia
Malito is a common orphan who is afflicted by a mysterious disease and with unbidden dreams of Dragons. Calya is handmaiden to a Princess who, to the world outside the palace, does not even exist. She, too, is inexplicably driven to seek Dragons.
Both live in a world where to even mention the word ‘Dragons’ carries the death penalty, for Dragons are believed to be the most evil of beings, extinct since the Great War that saw the end of the Dragon Age.
When Malito captures Calya fleeing from the Palace in search of Dragons, he discovers on her a rare Dragon Relic; a flute, crafted from the resonance chamber of a baby Dragon, capable of playing the legendary Dragon Songs. She possesses also the ability to play it.
It is said that Dragon songs can influence the naturally occurring crystals growing wild on their world, which influence in turn the powers of the natural world.
Each for their own secret reasons, Malito and Calya do not believe the teachings of the King. They do not believe Dragons were evil - at least not all of them. And they do not believe they are extinct, either.
Bound by nothing but their common goal, guided by nothing but a Dragon flute from a bygone era, the two begin a journey to search for the last Dragon.
What they uncover will change the world completely.
As the Dragon Songs light their path, they discover history itself has been re-written, and their entire world deceived by the lies of one very powerful man.
And, somehow, every clue that they uncover in their search for the Last Dragon…
…Is drawing them towards the Moon.
Don't know if you want to feature the Dragon Flute, but if you do, it's crafted from the resonating chamber of a Dragon. (this concept is from the resonating chamber of a Veliciraptor which was apparently from Jurassic Park but to give you the idea: http://www.myjurassicpark.com/jp3-reschamber.jpg that would be what it looks like, but from a Dragon not a Dinosaur. Attached to that chamber would be a man-designed flute, so that a human could make music through the resonating chamber via the flute, if that makes sense. Though it should look a little different to a regular flute, maybe the holes in different places, because it's Dragon music after all.
The Moon on this world is very large, like a second planet in their sky, and it has rings like Saturn except they are rainbow-tinted like the Northern Lights. (when I think of a cover, I see across the face of the moon I see the great shadow of a Dragon in flight.)
Thank you so very very much for maybe considering my request!
Title: Torn between two possible titles: Thief of Dreams ~or~ Hidden Heritage & Cerulean Silk
Author: R. A. Clements
Short Synopsis: A noble child born of an illicit rendezvous is sentenced to death but instead secreted away. He is found by a peasant couple and raised as their own as they risk betrayal and imprisonment to keep their son. The truth of his heritage comes to light at the same time a band of outlaws heightens their threat on the peace. The band of brigands suffers its own distress as fugitives seek to discover their lair and claim the plunder for their own. A trap is set for the renegades but complications result in unwanted results that find the bandit queen imprisoned and decisions being made that will seal her fate.
Important images of your story: An abandoned wagon plays a significant role at one point, as does a girl in a patchwork dress of many colors (medieval garb but with lots of colors). A long braid of brown hair with little flowers in it would also be a significant image. Other than that, it's a story set during the middle ages.
Ideas for Cover: Maybe the long braid with the flowers, or an abandoned, broke down old wagon, I honestly don't know, I'd love to see what you come up with.
Short Synopsis: Rachel is trapped in a world most people could only dream of. In fact, her prison has everything she could ever wish for. It is the stage for all the lives she would otherwise have never gotten to live. And were it not for Ally, Rachel's personal paradise would be more than just a literal cage; it would feel like one too. But the restraints could not contain Rachel and Ally. Together, they turned Rachel's cage into their own Garden of Eden. But their garden has tired of them; a feeling that is especially mutual. Rachel and Ally would gladly leave, but there is no one to take their place. Thusly, the Absurdly Astounding and Perplexing Competetion of Visionaries is born! Hopefully, one competitor will rise up from the wacky and unnerving challenges Ally has created for them. Maybe this time, someone will prove themselves worthy enough to become the next Visionary of this cursed paradise.
*(yes, there is a reason the character shares my name. :) It was part of a challenge my friend's and I took.)
Important images of your story: At the very beginning of the story there's any important pocket watch that breaks. Candles are also a common object in the story. The story's actually very dark, despite all the silliness that occurs. And it has a very nostalgiac feel.
I really appreaciate if you get around to my cover. Feel free to run with your creativity, I don't have any specifc image in mind so you probably won't go wrong. :) Thanks!
I hope the offer is still open, I do like your style.
Title: The Maestro's Apprentice
Author Name: Heather K. Parks.
Short Synopsis: (there's a longer one in my profile if you'd like more details, here's a shorter one) Sophie Reynard, the daughter of a German tailor, is a musical prodigy in Bonn. She is discovered by the young Ludwig van Beethoven who gives her lessons and soon becomes a close friend as they are growing up together. But when Beethoven moves to Vienna to become a student of Haydn, Sophie is left in Bonn to care for her dying father. When she receives an offer of marriage by a wealthy doctor, she is tempted to take it, but it would mean giving up any chance to become musician and composer. When her father dies, she decides to take a huge risk by dressing up like a boy in order to join the court orchestra at Bonn. Her ruse is so successful that she goes to Vienna and uses her new disguise to trick Beethoven into taking her in as an assistant and student. But soon, she realizes that things are not as she expected as she struggles to write/perform music under the shadow of the great composer, whose ill health and increasing deafness has caused him to grow more and more irritable and unpredictable. To make matters worse, she begins to have trouble ignoring old feelings. Will she give up her dreams for love?
Important images of your story: Pianos, violins, sheet music, old costume-y stuff (since a good deal of the plot revolves around her dressing as a boy and her father was a tailor)
Ideas for Cover: I just want something that looks warm, and old, and classy. I guess. Something that portrays the feeling of the late 18th/early 19th century and has something to do with music.
Short Synopsis: Elijah was born into a perfect, precise world. In school, he learns about the prevention of germs and good manners that would put the Queen's to shame. Leisure time is spent with his designated friend for the month, enjoying activites such as strolling through the manicured park and visiting the elderly.
Until Nora forcefully stumbles into his life.
Capturing Elijah's attention with her eccentricity, she tells him stories of the world past. A world long cast in darkness. Of a failing government, of the Resistance, and the of the plan to save them all. The plan that involved fitting everyone with masks - terminating individuality as a means of solving the problems that arose from it.
Haunted by the knowledge that he has a face of skin under his mask, Elijah slowly begin to go insane.
Important images of your story: Masks. (Less important ones: train tracks; ash; smoke)
Auther Name: Elisa Moffett (ah, that felt good. Never used my pen name...been too scared...)
Short Synposis: Derek the cyclops, Luke the elf, and Abigail the human travel from New York to the Niagara Falls all the way to Mt. St. Helen to find other cyclopes for Derek.
Important images: said places, a sword (I don't care what it looks like XD ) um...not much else?
Ideas for cover: I got nothing...Derek is 15-16 and Luke and Abigail are 13ish. The former two have brown hair while Abigail has frizzy, wild red hair.
Title: Altair in Heaven Author Name: Or pen name or nano username or whatever: Andrew Jiang Short Synopsis: 100-350 words. Please don't say "it's in my profile" :) Matt Aurumn and Isabella Silverant are everyday, normal teenagers, living in a seemingly civilized world. What they don't realize is how corrupt it is. The land is ruled by They, a behind-the-scenes group of people that have supernatural powers. Quickly, both Matt and Isabella learn of an anti-They group, a place that will hide them from the wrath of They.
As they find themselves meeting in the group, they fall in love. Both of them also begin to start to rebel against They, and create uprising within the lands. They soon both discover their powers, something that is given to them at birth and must be exercised to be used.
But, as they soon find out through many deaths, the only way to love and fight is to not love.
Important images of your story: i.e. places (like, characters are on a road trip to the Grand Canyon), people (main character is a black-haired girl with a nose ring), objects (characters break a curse with a magical ring), etc. red iris, corrupted government, blond guy and black-haired girl Ideas for Cover: I can't guarantee I'll take this into account, but I'll try! I would like to have a red iris surrounded by black/dark colors.
If you're still taking requests, I'd love one of your covers. Your style is wonderful!
Title: Spinning Tales, Spinning Truth Author Name: Cassandra M Guion
Short Synopsis: Ever since he was little, Reggie has been able to see visions in a pool in one of his father's courtyards, visions of a princess asleep. In a land where magic disappeared almost a century before, this is very troubling. But even more troubling is the day when the vision changes, and the princess sits up and calls Reggie by name, begging for his help. Without a second thought, Reggie sets off on his quest -- to find a forgotten kingdom, rescue a slumbering princess, and discover why she was sleeping in the first place. As he travels, he discovers that the tale of the sleeping princess has spread far and wide, and finding the truth amidst the stories is only the beginning of all he must achieve if his quest is to succeed.
Important images of your story: The story is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, so some images to work with are: spinning wheels, yarn, roses, thorns, castle ruins, wilderness. For colors, I see dark rose, brown, gold, etc. Warm colors, evocative of a fairy tale.
Thank you! And if you're swamped and don't have the time to take another cover on, I completely understand!
Title: The Fate of Halcyone Author Name: Elizabeth Thorne Short Synopsis: Kathryn Hunter always wanted to leave home. Kyle Bladesmith wants to learn how to forge metals. The two are best friends in the land of Thespryan. They both want to leave their homes: Kathryn, the unfavor of her mother; Kyle the politics and consistent lessons of his father. Each drink a sacred water and get the chance to leave. Silvernight Staffe is a mage who lives in a small wizarding village. He decides to leave his home in exchange for the chance to see the world. He has tremendous power and can't control it. All three are under the age of sixteen. They meet and the three become fast friends. They team up with several short allies, some of which are actually working against them. Can the three defeat the shadow that quickly begins to loom over them?
Ideas for Cover: A bow with an arrow on the string lying on the branch of a tree. The bow has fibers sticking up at every angle. Blood is dripping off the arrow and pooling on the ground. A shadow of a man falling across the bow. BTW: It's a dystopian novel.
You're covers are lovely, just what I'm looking for!
Title: The Victoria Project
Author Name: Nadea Bekh
Short Synopsis: On a map of California, most perfectly fitted in the jutting angle, is a most perfect little circle marking the most perfect little town, Victoria. Built on visions of reputation, grandeur, and distinction, it comes right out of a fairytale with its sculpted hills, spray painted golf courses, and cookie cutter buildings. But fairytales never last, and as you near the south part of the city, things begin to turn more dark and dangerous, things begin to turn more real.
Melody, Aiden, Dianna, Michael, and Ashleigh, five perfectly different people who’ve formed a refreshingly unperfect relationship, joined under the Victoria project. Together, they attempt to break barriers, prejudices, and assumptions, and maybe, in all the rubble, they’ll find a bit of themselves. That's my "summary" on the site... A more, understandable, version:
Victoria, mostly North Victoria, is a town that hates change, hates anything different, anything new. These five highschoolers, Ashleigh, Dianna, Michael, Aiden, and Melody, are used to this. But when they all join the Victoria Project, each for their own reasons, they all realize that beneath every person, underneath every mask, there's an actual human being, a unique story. The Victoria project is founded to beautify the highschool and the city and general through student made murals. But the five kids don't want to make the perfect little painting the city, namely the board overseeing the project, wants. They want to capture something real, something honest. This, obviously, gets them into trouble, and each person has to question how much they believe in their cause and how much their willing to give for it, and themselves.
Ideas for Cover: Well, I was imagining a dark black and white picture of five kids (14 ish years) facing away from the camera and the title the focal point of it all. With the "VICTORIA" in caps, and maybe colored like a mural in contrast to the other words and background picture? Whatever you think, though, I'm sure will turn out awesome.
Important images of your story: The murals that were painted were collages and representations of the diversity in the community, they were hopeful, yet real. The last mural was a silhouette of the kids holding hands, so that's important, too. Colors are not too contrast-y, like graffiti, but more toned down, a little lighter color scheme than monochromatic, but still vibrant.

Title: The Test of True Love
Re: Offering Covers

Title: Torn between two possible titles:
Thief of Dreams ~or~ Hidden Heritage & Cerulean Silk
Author:
R. A. Clements
Short Synopsis:
A noble child born of an illicit rendezvous is sentenced to death but instead secreted away.
Important images of your story:
An abandoned wagon plays a significant role at one point, as does a girl in a patchwork dress of many colors (medieval garb but with lots of colors). A long braid of brown hair with little flowers in it would also be a significant image. Other than that, it's a story set during the middle ages.
Ideas for Cover:
Maybe the long braid with the flowers, or an abandoned, broke down old wagon, I honestly don't know, I'd love to see what you come up with.

Re: Offering Covers
Author Name: Alexnadra Eck
Short Synopsis:
Rachel is trapped in a world most people could only dream of.
:) Thanks!
Re: Offering Covers
I am a dummy. I forgot my title:
The Absurd Competition of Astounding Visionaries
Re: Offering Covers
I hope the offer is still open, I do like your style.
Title: The Maestro's Apprentice
Author Name: Heather K. Parks.
Short Synopsis: (there's a longer one in my profile if you'd like more details, here's a shorter one)
Sophie Reynard, the daughter of a German tailor, is a musical prodigy in Bonn.

Title: Altair in Heaven
Author Name: Or pen name or nano username or whatever: Andrew Jiang
Short Synopsis: 100-350 words. Please don't say "it's in my profile" :)
Matt Aurumn and Isabella Silverant are everyday, normal teenagers, living in a seemingly civilized world.
Important images of your story: i.e. places (like, characters are on a road trip to the Grand Canyon), people (main character is a black-haired girl with a nose ring), objects (characters break a curse with a magical ring), etc. red iris, corrupted government, blond guy and black-haired girl
Ideas for Cover: I can't guarantee I'll take this into account, but I'll try! I would like to have a red iris surrounded by black/dark colors.
Re: Offering Covers
If you're still taking requests, I'd love one of your covers. Your style is wonderful!
Title: Spinning Tales, Spinning Truth
Author Name: Cassandra M Guion

Re: Offering Covers
