Re: Book Covers!

Author's name: Stefanie Michelle Almendárez

Synopsis:

On one side…

A woman and her shuttle chauffeur boyfriend already have two little girls, but when one summer morning in a South Los Angeles neighborhood she wakes up from what she now and then experiences and calls “a vocal dream” she suspects she may be channeling her boyfriend’s yearning for a newborn baby boy. That same morning, Alondra Alma Alvarez’s old love for writing is rekindled as she slips out of bed to write - hunched over at her room’s antique desk, the following lingering words: “Little boy in my land, who am I – without you? My boy, my child, my little boy – almost.”

On the other hand….

A timeless youthful beauty with a tinge of madness crosses over into Alondra and her boyfriend Estéfano’s realm. Anna Camila Estés is her name; like any youthful woman in search of love, she lands her eyes on the wrong guy, someone forbidden – the already taken Estéfano. Estéfano and Anna live only the moment, and as Estéfano even points out to her: “I never promised you a rose garden!”

Mere coincidence or God playing jokes on Estefano?
Each of Estéfano’s two women nurtures a special tree in her life. Alondra - observes the Jacaranda outside her bedroom window as she begins to write a sort of diary through the eyes of the Jacaranda, as well as other inanimate objects. Anna Camila also revels in the presence of her little special lemon tree which she compares to Moses’ burning bush in her own backyard.

When Davey Angel Perez –Estéfano’s best friend – gets a secret crush on Alondra, will he act on his hidden desires, and disrespect his best friend’s girlfriend? Or will he settle for "Estéfano’s leftovers" – Anna Camila Estés?
But when tragedy enshrouds both the women in Estéfano’s life – he must make a cruel, once and for all decision: who will he stay with, who to solely love, who will he stretch out his hand and heart to save?

The Sweet Trees will take an unexpected direction, when tragedy sojourns again.

p.s. I looove your covers! They are amazing! And thank you for this opportunity =)

Re: Book Covers!

Title: Tessellate
Author: C. J. Jefferson
Tagline: Love isn't a simple pattern.
Genre: contemporary queer romance
Synopsis: It's a romance between a math major named Tess and a free-spirited artsy type. Tess is introverted and neurotic. She has intimacy issues and basically sabotages her own chances at happiness. MJ, however, is persistent and willing to make ridiculously grand romantic gestures.
Colors: bright ( teal, orange, green, etc.)
Mood/theme: quirky
Ideas/other: A few notes. Tessellate is a math term that deals with patterns. (Technically, covering a plane with a repeating shape.) It's a Tokyo Police Club song, but that's not really relevant...

Everything is set on a college campus (UPenn).

In terms of appearance, Tess is 19, short brown hair, brown eyes.
MJ is also 19, but she has long red hair and green eyes.

Other important symbols are sunflowers. Math symbols.

And many thanks in advance :)

Re: Book Covers!

It would be nice to see what you could come up with for this, if you don't mind of course.

Title: The Witch's Brother
Author name: Rachel French

Fifteen year old Asa spent her childhood fighting to safeguard her brother’s life.
Nesta’s incompetence brought about the death of her charge.
Megan, an assassin was blackmailed into plotting the death of the man she loved, throwing her into madness and depression.
Charlotte, penniless and despised tried to scrap a life together under the cruel laws of the capital.
And Stranger has been tricked into a situation where her life may depend on recounting her stories as a mercenary.

These five have several things in common. One: they have red hair, something associated with witches and demons. Two: None of them ever use their real name. Three: They are the same person. The first four are the most painful memories of Stranger, coming out now as she is forced to confront the horrors which she has buried along with her invented lives.

And now her little brother has grown and the memory of his sister has been cropping up far too often. Convinced that he must aid her in some way to continue with his own life he sets about the task of tracking her down, following the breadcrumbs she’s left behind. But as anger and hate take him over reluctant aid is in danger of becoming something far more dangerous.

Title: Rebel

Author Name: Leanna Carson

Blurb:

After Jack's parents are killed by government trained mercenaries, he is given a choice: a life of running and hiding with no food, no shelter, or join the controversial organization, Marxis, and discover the real reason for his parent's death. With nothing left to lose, he accepts. But the life of a secret agent isn't what he thought it was. Instead of uncovering the truth about his parent's violent death, Jack now spends his days writing notes and running tea orders to five different locations.

And then he gets his first real assignment: Infiltrate the current President's Cabinet. But the killings start again, and Jack can't ignore the strange link between recent murders and his parents death. Nor can he ignore the disappearances of several colleagues, including sweet-talking Farrah, a young spy with nothing to gain and all to lose. Jack needs to identify the Government's plan before his obituary makes headlines.

Not to be a huge pain, could I ask for one slight modification? While I love the mental health asylum feel to it, is there any possibility to either add the tiniest bit of color or add some sign of child life to it (like a teddy bear or something)? (it feels very adult right now).

Thank you so much!!

Don't worry about including an author name.

Blurb:

Jasmine was a spoiled princess who was always right until she met Trevor, a clergyman unafraid to tell the truth. Trevor makes a habit of condemning the Queen, a crime punishable by death. Intrigued by his beliefs and the honesty that could get him killed, Jasmine keeps meeting the young man. But when the two fall in love, Jasmine is forced to reveal her secret relationship and her new faith to her mother, the Queen.

Angry at Jasmine's deceit, the Queen throws her daughter in prison to change the stubborn girl's mind. It is in the cells of the dungeons that Jasmine learns the depths of her faith and the strength of her love for her intended...and her mother.
---
If there is any way possible, could you show a difference between the couple's worlds? He preaches to peasants. They meet at a waterfall, and they both like horses.

If you're in the mood for something a little more goofy...

Author Name:
Keith Good

Title:
Dumb Dicks and the Cheesy Wiener King

Synopsis:
Ralph Farelly--The Cheesy Wiener King--was 37 hot dogs into a championship run when he keeled over. The cops and coroner agree: years as a professional gurgitaor and 40 extra pounds conspired to arrest poor Ralph's heart before he could (literally) reclaim his Cheesy Wiener crown.

His widow Fran is dead certain something more nefarious is afoot. Ralph's arch-rival, Arnie Bungler, refuses to say a word.

Enter the Bakersville Irregulars--three feckless mystery writers infamous for breaking out of prison via exploding toilet. Reluctant as they are to again delve into Bakersville's underbelly, Fran's persistence (and $25,000 life insurance check) draw them into a bizarre investigation of cheese-filled chili dogs, born-again bookies and murder.

Note:
In the context of this manuscript, a 'cheesy wiener' is essentially a Cheese Coney (google it if you're unfamiliar). Feel free to get as silly as you'd like.

Title: Poisonous
Author: can you just leave it blank for me please, and maybe give a suggestion for where you'd place it? :3
Synopsis: Parker Evans lived her whole life atop a cliff. Her father, a man who's rarely around, convinced her it wasn't safe to go down into the town.
Because she's poisonous.
After accidentally killing her tutor, she was free to do pretty much anything.
Down in the town, she meets Clark, and her heart stops. She feels they were meant to be, but how could they be if he'd die by a simple kiss?
(It has a bitter ending.)
Parker is maybe seventeen, and has grey skin-- so beware with using models, I guess.
I don't really have an idea for what would go on it-- have fun designing it then : )

I'd love to have a cover done, but this novel is [supposedly] skewered more to a younger/general audience and have a lighter tone. Either way, here goes...

Title: Kindergarten Dropout
Author: Matt Mesnard

Synopsis: Kadie planning to have the best day ever. Unfortunately, that feeling didn't even last until the morning bell. Harangued by a trio of older girls on the last day of school, Kadie is convinced she flunked kindergarten.

Title: The Absurd Competition of Astounding Visionaries

Short Synopsis:

Rachel is trapped in a world most people could only dream of. In fact, her prison has everything she could ever wish for. It is the stage for all the lives she would otherwise have never gotten to live. And were it not for Ally, Rachel's personal paradise would be more than just a literal cage; it would feel like one too.
But the restraints could not contain Rachel and Ally. Together, they turned Rachel's cage into their own Garden of Eden. But their garden has tired of them; a feeling that is especially mutual. Rachel and Ally would gladly leave, but there is no one to take their place.
Thusly, the Absurdly Astounding and Perplexing Competetion of Visionaries is born! Hopefully, one competitor will rise up from the wacky and unnerving challenges Ally has created for them. Maybe this time, someone will prove themselves worthy enough to become the next Visionary of this cursed paradise.

*(yes, there is a reason the character shares my name. :) It was part of a challenge my friend's and I took.)

I really appreaciate if you get around to my cover. Feel free to run with your creativity, I don't have any specifc image in mind so you probably won't go wrong. :) Thanks!

I'm sorry, but the cover you made for Decembrion was lovely...so I have to ask :P

Author's name: Kat Haley

Synopsis:

Love is a force greater than anything you've every imagined; it's pretend.

2013.
The water has always called to Lara Vaugn. As a child, it robbed her of her sister. Now, as a girl of 17, it's everywhere. It's on her paintings on the wall; it's the color of the eyes she see every day in the mirror. She knows its song and dance well; the only thing she's never seen before is its age.

1912.
The Titanic. The greatest ship the world has ever seen. Thomas Hindley, gentleman, had never seen such a vessel before. Another thing he's never seen the likes of is his sister's new friend's handmaid. She's different than the girls his family's name is associated with; there's something almost wild about her, yet contained in all the grace he sees every day. It's like she doesn't belong in his world of 1912. Does she?

It was a whimsical idea on her part, something she thought might help her think clearly. What she didn't know is that he was waiting, unaware, on the other side. Suddenly, violently, the artist and the gentleman are thrown into a freefall of lives, pasts, futures, and things they never thought were tangible.

Thank you :D

PS. I don't know if it would help to mention that half of this takes place on the Titanic, and half of it happens in the New York of today.

Title: Dark Blood

Author: Jessica Morris

Synopsis: Taylor Eggers is a cheerleader who goes great lengths to try to achieve popularity at her school. But when she is whisked off to the magical world of Hope Hollow, she sheds her name from Taylor to Tamora and becomes a new person alongside her friends Caldwell and Opal.
But before she even starts at Hope Hollow's Academy, which upon completion she would have to join their army, her and her friends get looped into a series of discoveries that could jeopardize the very purpose of not only Hope Hollow, but the rest of the world as well.
Tamora discoveres that her mother is the feared Dark Witch, who operates in mystery and no one is quite sure what she's up to, aside from that fact that she has imbibed several children with Dark Blood, giving them artificial magical powers and entrance into the world of Hope Hollow.
Tamora is one of these children with Dark Blood, and she comes to realize that with its power, she has lived several lives, and the events of one of her past lives holds the key to discovering the purpose of the Dark Witch and the key to defeating her. But what she didn't know what that having this blood comes with complications. And those complications could be deadly.

Idea: I had an idea that it might be kind of cool to have a blue sky above a field, but kind of faded into the sky is the face of the Dark Witch. Or maybe that her face is formed in the sky...is this making sense? Sort of it would give the idea that the witch was watching? Her eyes are violet with blue pupils, which is her only identifying feature.

Thanks!

Title: Embers

Author: R.L. Howard

Book Synopsis: Avadora lives in a world completely different to us, a universe where her tribe called the Northmanni hasn't evolved like we have. There lived like primitive beings that never experienced love or happiness and lived on the bare necessities of life. Unfortunately for her tribe, they were being slaughtered and hunted by another tribe called the Catatones who had evolved and subsequently had superior technology. So when Avadora was born to the Virgin Mary, all the Northmanni regarded her as their messiah. Like the Gods had planned, Avadora's aura warded of the Catatones so they could no longer feed on the Northmanni, and so they lived happily in their bubble for a long time. But Avadora was ultimately human and did feel emotions like us, and never really fitted in. While she was in a state of severe depression, her subconscious takes over and she is taken to this world, where she is a completely different person and the Northmanni are left to fend for themselves. However here she learns a terrible secret regarding her world and its destiny, but at the same time learns the fate of our world too. How will she get back to her world and save it? If she does return, what will her home be like, and will her leaving have already destroyed it beyond repair? Will it be nothing more than a city of embers, destroyed by the Catatones?

Title: The Masquerade of 1000 Days

Author: Christine Pemberley

Summary: In an alternate version of 19th Century England, Emilia Halladay lives with her older sister Madeleine. The two are of the upper-class and don’t have any servants or inheritance of any sort, other than the Halladay Manor, so they plan to spend their lives applying for jobs, selling the Manor, and finding tall, dark, handsome strangers to court and nice, young men to marry- not necessarily in that order. Also, they, especially level-headed, bookish Emilia, certainly don’t expect to get involved in a rebellion.
But when the Grand Sir goes too far- ordering a mass genocide of the people of London by fire- unrest is stirred and the small handful of people who don’t fear the dictator form a resistance. But anyone could be a spy; anyone could give names. So the resistance forms a rule: You hide your identity, they hide theirs, no one dies.
The resistance, small but aggressive, soon becomes known as the Masked Resistance. And then an unspoken decree is said: You’re either with them or with the Grand Sir.
So when Emilia, who has always tried to stay out of politics (murder is politics when a government is involved) is given an offer to join the Masked, she’s initially sceptic. But scepticism soon turns into curiosity and curiosity soon turns into involvement and pretty soon, quiet Emilia Halladay finds herself in the middle of a rebellion and enough secrets to make a person go barmy.
And while not hearing things best left unheard (especially secrets about Madeleine) or getting herself nearly killed, Emilia also finds herself falling in love with the entirely wrong man.

Title: Surrender
Author: Laurel Eddins
Synopsis: The Halflings, an army of half dead soldiers have raided Asta's village. She flees into the woods, praying for survival and someday to rescue her. After weeks of living by herself in the woods, Asta emerges into a village. But this is unlike any village that Asta has ever been to. Ladies in kimonos walk the streets as a man in a Roman Gladiator's outfit spars with a knight on horseback. Nobody cares about time. Nobody notices the passage of time.
Asta has stepped out of her world into a world where time has no meaning.
Ideas: None, really. Asta is about fourteen and has long blonde hair and green eyes.

By the way, your covers are amazing!

Re: Book Covers!

Hi, this is going to be very weird, but I had another artist to make me a cover and love what they have done. But I think it would look better with a menacing silhouette of a man in the background. Not too overpowering, just there if that makes any sense. I'll post the link to what she's already created. Also, if you want to just scrap her cover and make one of your own, that would be cool with me. Thank you so much and if you can do this, i would be sooo thankful haha.

here's the link: http://reversep.tumblr.com/post/14340860542/two-versions-of-adroit-by-derek-roiter-stock

and I chose the one on the right with the title in the center, but if it is easier to use the left one, feel free. Thanks again

Can I just tell you that I LOVE your covers!! I'd be thrilled if you could make me one(:

Title: The Victoria Project
Author Name: Nadea Bekh
Type: YA, realistic fiction
Synopsis: On a map of California, most perfectly fitted in the jutting angle, is a most perfect little circle marking the most perfect little town, Victoria. Built on visions of reputation, grandeur, and distinction, it comes right out of a fairytale with its sculpted hills, spray painted golf courses, and cookie cutter buildings. But fairytales never last, and as you near the south part of the city, things begin to turn more dark and dangerous, things begin to turn more real.

Melody, Aiden, Dianna, Michael, and Ashleigh, five perfectly different people who’ve formed a refreshingly unperfect relationship, joined under the Victoria project. Together, they attempt to break barriers, prejudices, and assumptions, and maybe, in all the rubble, they’ll find a bit of themselves.
That's my "summary" on the site... A more, understandable, version:

Victoria, mostly North Victoria, is a town that hates change, hates anything different, anything new. These five highschoolers, Ashleigh, Dianna, Michael, Aiden, and Melody, are used to this. But when they all join the Victoria Project, each for their own reasons, they all realize that beneath every person, underneath every mask, there's an actual human being, a unique story. The Victoria project is founded to beautify the highschool and the city and general through student made murals. But the five kids don't want to make the perfect little painting the city, namely the board overseeing the project, wants. They want to capture something real, something honest. This, obviously, gets them into trouble, and each person has to question how much they believe in their cause and how much their willing to give for it, and themselves.
Ideas: Well, I was imagining a dark black and white picture of five kids (14 ish years) facing away from the camera and the title the focal point of it all. With the "VICTORIA" in caps, and maybe colored like a mural in contrast to the other words and background picture? Whatever you think, though, I'm sure will turn out awesome.
Colors/Key Symbols: (for example a skeleton key is REALLY important): The murals that were painted were collages and representations of the diversity in the community, they were hopeful, yet real. The last mural was a silhouette of the kids holding hands, so that's important, too. Colors are not too contrast-y, like graffiti, but more toned down, a little lighter color scheme than monochromatic, but still vibrant.
