Oooh one of my favorite forum topics :) it's always fun to see peoples pictures! But I have never posted any of my before, even thought I have tons of character pictures, because drawing them is almost more fun the writing them ;) Yesterday I did a sketch of two characters of a story I'm currently writing Robin and Jens, one with insomnia and one who was in a car accident accidentally killing his best friend, but it's not my nanowrimo story, please ignore Jens very non ambitiously drawn lumber shirt. Link to cover The story I'm writing for nano is a children's book and my younger sister is illustrating that one as she is much better then me at drawing! So if she will allow me I'll post some pictures from that one. lol I'll see if I post any other pictures I don't know why but it feels weirdly intimate of posting my character pictures, usually I never show people them. I thought of offering doing character sketches for people but I know I will be to lazy to do them. [Edited by moderator to link to oversize image :)]

I draw my characters a lot... so be ready for a gazillion and a half. Okay, more like five. The first two are your average character drawings, with the first being Erim and the second Sharr. The two of them are the fire magicians in my story (there are two for each element) and they seem to be my favorites to draw. Next are all the multiple-character things. First two are Sharr and his best friend Gavin. They're a fun time (loons, the both of them). The last one is all five of the main characters, (left to right) Aria, Lincoln, Gavin, Sharr, and Rena.

Catherine is the FMC and, as the Wyndhams are your typical big, screwed-up aristocratic family, she and Sarah have a...complicated relationship. Link to image Catherine again on the right, with her brother James on the right. James is the MMC, and him and Catherine are besties, drawn together by their bitterness. Link to image James in uniform, just for kicks (he gets drafted in 1916). I actually have a few more drawings of James, including one of him with his lover Richard, but they're not entirely worksafe.

Just a quick wee sketch I did the other night of an idea for the look of my FMC. I love elaborate hair styles. Always! My novel is a Steampunk setting as I adore the Victorian theme with clothing, tech and dapper young gents. Because of my current pitiful lack of character art for this year and the fact that I don't like most of my artwork from last year any more, I'm just going to randomly link to a couple of characters I plan to put in a future sci-fi NaNo story, because by the time I get round to writing it, I probably won't like this picture any more. I've only got sketches done in class (no full color, cleaned up, nice stuff) buuut... Wren, my MC Wren (twice!) and Storm, a potential love interest Group shot! Most of the secondary characters Hopefully before November comes I'll get the chance to do some clean sketches or full color digital art.

I don't have character art for this nano, since drawing people in any not-horrible way takes considerable time and effort on my part. So here are my runaway children, from my year-round project, "The Asphalt Messiah." Gryffin, a slippery little hustler/pretty boy, whose picture is unfortunately sideways. ...and Lucas Nguyen, the charismatic titular character, a runaway from a broken home. He either has magic powers or fast hands, but either way is always good for bus tokens. He's also supposed to be half Vietnamese, though my questionable artistic skills doubtless fail to communicate that.

I looked at that, then looked here, then looked back there, then back here and was like "OMG! Your avatar/userpic!" He's got such nice lips... I think what looks off is that his eyes would be the middle of his face, yet his hair looks like it may go up much higher than the same eyes to chin length [/crappy phrasing] I had to really look at it to see that though. I love his curls over by his ears, such a cute detail.

You draw a lot better than some people I know! And figuring out how their hair and mouths are set is half the part of drawing faces, so good job there! And proportion... well who really likes that anyways? (I can't ever get my eyes symmetrical when I draw head on things. It drives me mad.)

Thank you! Poses drive me mad. Mostly because I want to be able to draw poses that I can't draw, so I'm focusing all my art lately on difficult poses. And groups. Usually, I put more than one person in the picture and they look off, one too big, the other too small, and such.

I wish I had some fancy program for drawing but I don't. So I have to stick with plain old Paint. T__T I'm better at drawing with a pencil than using a mouse. This is a rough sketch of one of my side characters, Vivi. I had thought it was okay since it wasn't large enough to stretch out the original format and size of the forum, but I failed to read the original rules, which I'm usually good at... so I apologize. I kind of want to post mine, cos I like them but... They're not very good. Everyone here can do cool concept art. I can only do photo-real paintings if I have a reference photo and three days of oil painting. Drawing from imagination... Um... Not so good. :(

My fabulous girlfriend drew my main character before I'd even written a single word of my novel. She is fangirling over it, even though it has no substance that I'm proud of yet. This picture however is perfectly fabulous and I'm very happy to have it.

Okay... I spent ages trying to draw realistic comics then realised I'm rubbish at it (I'm rubbish at most things, except detailed portraits). So I decided to draw my characters in the form of dolls. I'm feeling the need to explain because everyone else's art is... Well... Good. Mine are drawn by hand and then scanned and I wasted a whold day doing loads of cartoons. At the moment, I've only done art of my main character. Here he's about 11-12 years older than in my NaNo. Arashi Really should draw the others at some point, though.

Thank you for posting art of your characters and providing me with tons of awesome art to look at \o/ My two main characters at the time of my GN which takes place in the future of my NaNo Novel. I have to show this because I don't have art of David (front) that would be in the time of the novel...:P Image 1 And this is Alex, pretty much what he does look like at the time of my NaNo novel (and much of the rest of the time). Complete with ever-present starbucks and cigarette. Image 2 I'm working on more character sketches. I want to do illustrations to go with the novel so I can print them in my comic. And because I figure I'd do it anyway, this gives me a reason XD

I learned how to post photos! :D XD My boys (David in front, Alex in back). I don't have anything of them that would be current for my novel, but this is what they look like in the futures. So, for the novel they'd be pretty much the same, though Alex is blond and David's hair is...different. But not by much. I really want to do some of the FMCs in my novel too. Oh this thread is not good for my writing...all I want to do is character sketch now...

Wow! Some amazing arts! @___@ They're all so pretty... Here's one of my characters... Marcus Serafin younger Funny thing with him, he's stuck in the main characters head 90% of the story and without a body, yet he's the only character I've done any drawings for.

A rough sketch of the villain of my Novel, Tom "McTrouble". He was a Chimera-Project Relic researcher that got lost in the wastes, killed by friendly fire, had his heart replaced with that of a Monster, then was left in the street only to be found and resurrected by one of the Four Witch Cardinals as her Chimeric Familiar. He's filled with a lot of malicious intent. Hunts rich school kids with a high powered sniper rifle for fun when his master hasn't given him something else to do. And sometimes when she has.

Ace is the fearless leader, obsessed with obtaining justice and peace in his world. But don't let that fool you, he's actually a huge dork when he's not being serious. I drew this during a quick break in class today-this is Radine, the main character in my novel, Rad Bad Hyenas. Basically, a more tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic version of Watership Down.
