Not A Complete Failure

Even counting what I had already written over the summer, which probably accounts for roughly half of the total, I have a little under 24K, and I'm sure I won't be able to write another 26K over the next 4 days. Still, my goal was more or less just to keep writing on a somewhat regular basis, and I think I can fairly say I've achieved that modest goal. I don't really feel like I've had the full Nano experience, though. It's basically been business as usual. In the future I'd like to give it a try following the rules a little more closely. Next time I'll start from scratch, avoid editing, participate in forums a little bit and see what that's like.

Yes, I've enjoyed the writing, but I didn't really feel like I participated in NaNoWriMo so much as I just kept writing like I usually do, except maybe a little more consistently.

Not a complete failure . . . the truth is, as we do this . . . and don't give up . . . none of us are complete failures.

I loved turning off the internal editor.

Who knows the long term effect that might have on my writing!

Write On!

Re: Not A Complete Failure

I'm trying to keep in mind that if I don't actually win NaNoWriMo this year, this is the most I've ever intentionally written on a single topic within such a small amount of time. Still, I'm going to see if I can bust out the last 20K before the month is over. :)

Re: Not A Complete Failure

I'm certainly not going to win this year, but I did finish 7 short stories, and I assume I will at least finish the one I started yesterday as well, so I definitely don't feel like a failure. And I did spend nearly all my free time writing, which I didn't in october, so if I can keep that up in the next couple of months, this NaNo will definitely pay off.

7 Short Stories in a month is very impressive. It may be that once the month is over I will realize NaNoWriMo's had more of an effect on me than I'm seeing at the moment. I'm not really worried about the number, I just feel like I'm missing something.
