NaNowrimo actually gave me 6000 words more than my own count . . . so after validating, I updated my count again to be more accuate . . . not sure what the difference was.
Anyway, now I have validated my word count . . . and can get my winner's certificate and stamp image.
But I don't see any indication that I am a winner . . . nothing changed . . . everything looks the same.
So what was the point of validating my count? Did it accomplish anything?
I guess that I expected something even if it was just the word "participant" changing to "winner".
If you are using Internet Explorer, you won't see your bar turning purple (to me, all bars are still blue as well), but apparantly people who are using other browsers can see it. As far as I understand, if you have validated your novel, you *are* a winner, even if you don't see it yourself.
Am I a winner?

Anyway . . . a little disappointing.

Re: Am I a winner?
Thank you ladies for letting me know that something changed!
I am using IE.
Maybe I should download another browser so the I can see the purple bar!
But even if I never see it . . . I am surely a winner.
Thanks for the reassurance . . . and explanation.

Re: Am I a winner?
Ah, I am using Firefox. I did not know that in IE they still look blue.
I suggest you switch to a different browser, IE is not a very good one.
