I am on a medieval and Renaissance music kick. Even my good ol' standbys (Dvorak, Vivaldi and Faure) seem too modern for me. So I set up a Biagio Marini station on Pandora and alternate between that an ancientfm.com. I love the lute! Dorky and proud!
I'm not now, but I'm definitely about to download some Chameleon Circuit and steal your idea! I love them, and got to mooch off my old roommate's iTunes, but we sadly no longer live together.
My friend is in despair over my musical tastes. The reason being: I haven't heard of any of the musicians she likes. And she hasn't heard of Hank Green. She has also not heard of Chameleon Circuit.
Uh... Is RUSH pretty nerdy? Because I'm listening to a song based on freaking /Greek Mythology/. But it is epic.
And I suppose knowing who Two Steps From Hell is is kind of nerdy. Hey, I can appreciate an epic orchestra, especially when they do amazing trailer/score music!
No, I've never heard any of her music! I'll be checking her out! But my favorite composers are, at the moment, Yasuharu Takanashi (love his work, especially on the Fairy Tail OST's...), Yuki Kajiura, and, of course, the amazing Kenji Kawai. And many others, but those are the three that I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.
Anime remixes and unusual electronic genres most people have never heard of nor care to listen to, with a lot of that overlapping...eh, some of it's nerdy.
I suppose it's nerdier when you make it yourself, too.
I'm listening to Ludo's Broken Bride EP. It's a cd that basically tells the story of a guy who time travels with a faulty time machine and despite his original goal of saving his deceased wife, ends up stopping the zombie apocalypse.
Next up on the playlist is some wizard rock, the demo soundtrack to the never-produced Batman Broadway musical, a couple of Starkid songs, and the Doctor Who themesong.

I'm listening to All Caps! Next up I have "Rose" by Geoff Smith (tears I miss Rose) "Doomsday ( even more tears) and The tenth Doctors theme song (Tears most of all) and a whole bunch of wizard rock/starkid stuff!
Showtunes all the way!!!!!!!! Oh Hakuna Matata!!! I love this song!!!! Anyways, while I write (and do homework and surf the web and play computer games and basicly everything else) I always listen to showtunes. .... it's a problem free pholisophy..... wait was I saying? Oh right. I also listen to david bowie. And Mama Mia and Owl City (though that's not exactly nerdy...) Its a very strange mix.... But I need to find that Doctor Who Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I love doctor who!!!!!!!!!!)

The best writing music is usually anything released by DFTBA records.
You can listen to Chameleon Circuit for free on alexdaymusic.com/music
Both their albums are on there. My favourite song is Kiss The Girl, off of Still Got Legs.
Also, the NaNoWriMo Song, by Kristina Horner, of ALL CAPS. Actually, that entire album, but that particular song gives you a real kick in the ass when you need it.
Well I was listening to All Caps, but then I decided in the spirit of nerdy music, the Doctor Horrible sound track would be a bit nerdier and then I quickly remembered Chameleon Circuit since I figured listening to a nerdy sound track is one thing but listening to nerdy songs by a nerdy band that writes nerdy music about a nerdy tv show has to be the winner and that maybe someone on here would know who they were and give me a nerdy high-five. I should've known that I'd find all three of them mentioned already :)
Anyways, I've now decided to make a playlist of all my nerdy music so that my thoughts can transfer seamlessly from one nerdy obsession to another while I'm doing my math homework *snorts and pushes up her glasses*
My family had work/school today and i had the day off so I blasted chameleon circuit and danced around and read Dr. Who fanfiction in between blasts of writing. Their new album (Still Got Legs) is just SO AMAZING.
Are you listening to nerdy music?
I am... I'm listening to the Dr Horrible soundtrack and when I finish I'm going to listen to Chameleon Circuit (songs about dr who)
Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?

Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
I mostly listen to classical music while I write, especially Beethoven, Liszt, and Chopin.
So, yeah, I guess I will be listening to "nerdy" music.

Depends if you find the Evil Dead: The Musical soundtrack nerdy....
It's great fun though!
Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
I listen to anime soundtracks - something that my friends and family CAN NOT understand. Oh well.
Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
Any Yoko Kanno? I love her music.

Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
How nerdy is it to listen to music that's about, oh, about 70 years out of date?
Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
If it's jazz, then not at all.

I wanna roll with, the gangsters
But so far they all think I'm too white and nerdy.
I'm surprised that no one else has posted Weird Al yet. For shame! Repent! Dismissed!
Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
I listen to nerdy music all the time! I just don't during NaNo because none of it goes with my story..... :(
Re: Are you listening to nerdy music?
Yes. I listed to Wrock all the time. I think that's considered nerdy music.
