Superhero Songs

Kittyhawk

I'd like to know if anyone can recommend some really awesome superhero music, about saving the world, saving the day, saving someone's life, or even just crying out for help. The only examples I can think of right now are:

Kryptonite, by Three Doors Down
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpl6ncyxLGw)

Holding Out For A Hero, by Bonnie Tyler
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLNCX84-kfA)

Dreams of Absolution
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zvjYLAzJb8)

Save me - Remy Zero (Smallville Theme)

I, Don Quixote
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEnDOXmyU-o)

S.O.S., by Rihanna
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-Vx_NNAu84)

I'm also looking for songs about mutants, freaks, changes, and not fitting in, such as:

Whataya Want From Me, by Adam Lambert
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcQNmQdVhlY)

Somewhere I Belong, by Linkin Park
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iCtpuQvydk&feature=related)

Changes, by 3 Doors Down
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srlUuVVhCek)

Also, songs about trying to fade into the background and hiding from the world would be great.

And if you know any megalomaniac super-villain songs, or songs about being lured to the dark side by misuse of power, that would also be really awesome. I especially love this song:

Flawed Design, by Stabilo
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw4i2v4Kteg)

One song that stands out to me as a superhero song is more about deciding to do what is right no matter what Les Jours Triste by Yann Tiersen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFPBs1Yd1GA&feature=related)

Here's a list of songs for mad scientists http://www.websnark.com/archives/2008/09/also_on_the_lis.html and I also recommend River Below by Billy Talent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW3jyZRDlII).

And a silly superhero song if you are in the mood for that sort of thing Superman by Norazo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBvdmCo5BRk&feature=player_embedded)

The Jam also does an AWESOME cover of The Batman Theme.

Also look for the Electric Company's "Spiderman." (and Homer Simpson's "Spiderpig")

Yeah, I knew it was a cover, I just couldn't remember who did it. (Plus, I love R.E.M.) Can't believe I forgot Tony's Theme!

Another one, for a villain: "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" by the Flaming Lips

Superheroes:
Hero-Nickleback
Ode to a Superhero-Weird Al

Not sure what to classify it as, but "I Am One of Them" by Aly and Aj always made me think of superheroes on the run.

I know it may sound strange (or maybe it won't!) but "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, for me, is about Batman. His duty of protecting his city and its people is a thankless job and sometimes those he is trying to save turn their back on him and the tables change. All superheroes have to deal with these things.

"Turn the Page" by Bob Seger. I know, what?? It's actually the theme song for the Superhero story I am thinking about.

And because I can't separate this song from superheroes and their "reality" anymore, "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" by The Smashing Pumpkins, from the Watchmen trailer. I like my superheroes dark and human, what can I say? :)

There's one song missing from the list.

"Signal in the Sky" by The Apples in Stereo.

It was paired with a promo for the Powerpuff Girls back when Cartoon Network puts music video promos for their shows. It's about how since the girls are heroes, they have little time for themselves since they always have to leave to stop trouble when it arises, which is all the time.

Nobody Does it Better - Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkaBfp1tbck

Kinda unusual for a superhero, but this oldie might work: Stand By Me by Ben E. King http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbg7YoXiKn0

Hard to go wrong with John Powell movie music: Instrumental: Bolt Transforms: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhWZEZLo3J0&feature=related

Everyday Superhero: smashmouth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNK21jBWUMs
"If I Was" by Chad Doucette http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPt6E7o0rEg

For an instrumental, and probably for the villain:

El Tango De Los Assassins, by John Powell from the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ-clu4saU0

Ok, now we're headed to the absurd end of the music spectrum:

Definite campy villain music: Professor Fate's theme by Henry Mancini, from "The Great Race" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rvtf1qlKrc

I Can't Decide by the Scissor Sisters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh9lfn113Eg

Bad to the Bone George Thorogood and the Destroyers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyhJ69mD7xI&ob=av2n

Bad -Michael Jackson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsUXAEzaC3Q&ob=av2e (both this and Bad to the Bone were used in the villain protagonist movie "Megamind")

More silliness (at least in the context of superhero/supervillain stories):

You always hurt the one you love; Michael Buble, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOCCq0gjvrE

This is in extremely poor taste, but "Yakety Sax" has an impressive ability to reframe even really scary movie violence into cartoon fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxJi-si5FRY -- or if you prefer, the Matrix version instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM1e57-bBEc&feature=related

It would be appropriate for Deadpool and maybe Wolverine, but pretty much no one else.

Speaking of Deadpool music:

Thought of another good misfit song: "Underdog Victorious" by Jill Sobule.

It depends on the type of Hero. There's a lot of trying to do good, the most obvious one being 'It's not easy being me' for me.

Spider-man soundtrack has a few good un's.
